i've never been so impressed with a veterinarian team as I was yesterday bringing my dog here. There is absolutely no pressure to have a procedure done. The doctor was extremely thorough and Communicated well in terms that I could understand. I can't say enough about how sweet the tech Stephanie was!! From booking the appointment- to all the reminders- to check in -to check out and even getting a call today to see how she was doing-This whole experience was 100% positive. Thank you, Dr. Binder and team for providing Ellie with the best care and for putting an anxious pet parent like me at ease! We have visited this place 2 times for our pomeranian after being referred. It is easy to make appointments and at the time, we were still just staying in the car and having our doggies picked up by techs. They open early and are on time with appointments. It's the only eye vet at the time close to where we live that charged reasonably. My only note is that the doctor can be short. A significant amount of time lapsed between my doggie's last visit (diagnosed with eye cancer) and his recommendation to get an ultrasound. We forgot what to do next so we went back for an eye appointment to reset. Keep in mind we did not have pet insurance and were already emotionally distressed at this point. We get some mild scolding and irritability on a phone call, reminding us what he had already asked us to do the last time. We felt like we imposed on the doctor's time despite paying for this appointment. He did change his tone after clarification was provided. I can "see" from reviews that this is not common but nevertheless, it did happen and I hope there is more understanding in the future. read more

I cannot say enough about Eye Care for Animals - Warwick. The entire experience was exceptional. All of the staff were on the same team. The staff presented themselves as professional, caring people. The visits were all orchestrated so well. When you arrive you call the number on the sign at the front door, they answer right away and take down general information, then they ask you to continue to wait in your car and when the next tech is available they will call you (this all happens within minutes), the tech calls and asks you to come in, they escort you to an exam room (you do not have to sit with other patients in a common area) they review information and in our case did a couple of things before the doctor came in ie, eye pressure, tear testing. They go get the doctor (there is only one doctor there; Daniel Binder. Dr. Binder come a review is done, exam is done, explains everything, answers any questions. The tech leave and comes back in to check you out, takes the time to make sure you are comfortable with everything and again asks if you have any questions for the doctor. The tech gives you any prescribed meds, explains how to give the meds, has a printed invoice to give you and you leave. Amazing. All done in one room. No dodging nervous dogs/animals in a common area. No interruptions from phones ringing, etc. We are grateful for the care and treatment that our pet received. I'm grateful to have found this practice! The whole team is so helpful and Dr Binder is amazing. He is responsible for significantly improving the quality of life for one of my dogs and for initiating the process of saving the life of another. When I found a mass on my dog's eye, the staff did everything possible to have him seen right away. After the exam, Dr Binder referred him for a CTScan. This place is amazing and Dr Binder is THE BEST. My golden retriever got stick pieces stuck in her eye and after being told by emergency vets that they were going to take her eye, my vet referred me to Dr Binder. He is amazing. Not only did he never say he'd take her eye, but he explained the process to me on what he'd do to take care of the eye, which comforted me to know I was so lucky to have found him. Great medical care, horrible customer service. Read before having a procedure. They bill the follow up visit at the time of the initial visit, and to the best of my recollection, did not disclose this. I had my local vet, who I see way too often with several of my pets, perform the follow up exam of the small procedure that was performed. I canceled the follow up appointment, and asked for a refund of this pre-billed visit. (btw..I was pretty put off that that's their policy, doesn't "feel" right.....When I asked for the refund THAT's when things got interesting. Basically, go there as a last resort and take care of your animal but, check, itemize and review every detail of their billing BEFORE you pay. While it may be legal...if feels wrong. read more

My dog ended up with a stubborn eye ulcer that wouldn't heal, despite several rounds of treatment, and my primary vet wanted us to find a veterinary ophthalmologist or go to an ER. Eye Care for Animals fit us in on 3 days notice and had us in and out in under a half hour. Eye care for animals is absolutely amazing, they get the job done right and they're staff is wonderful, Dr Daniel Binder did an outstanding job on my Great Danes cherry eye, he couldn't have done a better job. He also took his time to draw us a picture of what a cherry eye is and what he will do to fix it. I also love how they explain every step of the procedure written on paper so that you know what to expect and what to do during recovery. Excellent, personable staff. Took me awhile to get an appointment. But staff worked hard to get me and my dog in a month sooner. Dr. Binder performed cataract surgery on both eyes. Initially, I was dismayed at having to wait three weeks for an appt which was made by my Veterinarian's staff. Pretty sure my dog's "superficial" corneal ulcer was not considered emergent, but she had been getting various (unsuccessful) treatment for well over 6 weeks and she was so uncomfortable while we waited. Fast forward to the appt date and it was uphill from there. Dr. Binder looked into her eye, announced her "indolent" ulcer was classic for dogs her age (16 y/o). He performed a Diamond Burr Keratotomy that day. Follow-up appt nearly three weeks later revealed the ulcer was healed. Some residual inflammation was treated with an eye ointment and follow ups thereafter were handled over the phone with Dr. Binder remaining accessible to me through competent and compassionate staff, Keri, Stephanie, Jessica, and Steve. Drove here to see Dr. Binder on two separate occasions from CT with my 7-year-old freckly-eyed, orange tiger cat. The morning of the first appointment, my cat's eye was heartbreaking. It had become enlarged and cloudy just a few short hours before our appointment and my local vet didn't know what was going on - you could *barely* see her pupil. Long story short, my cat's eye was removed a week later and the post-op biopsy revealed it was melanoma. Side note - Be prepared to deal with an abrasive/cold receptionist, but then move on. Because Dr. Binder is awesome. He's smart, trustworthy, and he really went above and beyond wherever he could. As a distressed pet parent, this was everything. I wasn't able to do the enucleation surgery with Dr. Binder because his estimate was $2,000 and my vet did it for under $1,000, but if I weren't a grad student and had more money, I would have wanted him to do the surgery and I'm sure he would have done an amazing job. Even though I didn't have the surgery done with Dr. Binder, he was very helpful throughout the process. He writes you a letter at the end of your appointment, giving his expert opinion and explaining what was discussed, which is SO nice and helpful! During our first appointment, we decided to try one week of intensive eye treatment (drops and balm) before removing the eye, and then at our one-week follow-up, he agreed that her eye should be removed. He was very understanding of my decision to have my vet do the surgery. During the two appointments we had, he was extremely warm, friendly, and competent. He was the first one to suspect that my kitty had cancer, and having his expert opinion helped put my mind at ease through a very difficult time. After my local vet received her test results, they had them sent to Dr. Binder's office. He then called me while he was away on a trip, and he helped walk me through the test results and the current research on feline melanoma. If you are a pet parent and can afford to see a specialist, I couldn't recommend Dr. Binder enough! read more

Brought my baby in on a recommendation from our vet (Dr Munson gansett animal hospital) and Dr. Binder and the whole staff was amazing. Turned out our kitty had melanoma and needed to have her eye removed. This place is truly amazing. I was anxious and full of questions and Steve helped answer all my questions, while never being judgey about how many times I called. Amazing veterinary service all around. I rescue cats and over the years I have had 3 kittens come into my care who needed immediate attention ( one had a ruptured eye erlichea/conjunctivitis and was blind, one had an extreme case of herpes virus, and the other had herpes and micro-opthalamus). Dr. Abrams has always found the time to fit them in due to their urgent need for care. The staff as well as Dr. Abrams are kind, caring, knowledgeable and informative. He had another vet working there also, I do not remember her name but she was a great vet and really went above and beyond ( my kitten had more than just eye issues) and spoke with me about non-eye issues my kitten was having and even made some helpful recommendations. It felt so nice to have someone care so much. When my Avery died of leukemia at 16 months old, I made a point to call and tell them how amazing she was and to thank her for making me feel like she cared about my baby so much. I have absolutely no negative comments to say. There is nothing but good about this practice. Every single kitten that this place has vetted had their eye issue problems solved ( Halo, my blind kitten did go to another vet for the actual eye removal surgery but regardless it was thanks to Dr. Abrams who let me know what was going on with him) . After seeing my regular vet about my dog's funky eye, she recommended I come to Eye Care for Animals to get a more comprehensive exam. I could not be more impressed with this place and the people who staff it. From the receptionist, to the vet techs, to Dr.Binder himself, everyone was extremely warm and friendly toward me and my pup. I called around 9:00 in the morning, explained my situation, and the receptionist found a way to squeeze me in that same afternoon. As a last minute addition to the day's schedule, I expected to wait a while to be admitted, but I waited no more than five minutes. As a new client, the receptionist had me fill out one piece of paper with information about myself and my dog and then Gwen the vet tech brought us into the exam room. She was very sweet and helped to keep my buddy calm while he had his initial exam. When Dr.Binder came in (again, not more than five minutes later), he introduced himself as Dan and got to work doing his exam while Gwen and another vet tech assisted. He used a white board to draw a diagram and explain what he thinks is going on with my pup's eye, and made some recommendations. Before I left the room, he typed up a nice paragraph explaining what we discussed and printed me a copy to take home. Having this paper at home to read and share when I had more time to process it (typed, rather than scrawled in a hurry as doctor's notes usually are) was so helpful and reassuring. Before he left he answered my questions and assured me that I could call or make an appointment any time for a follow-up, then shook my hand and moved along. Gwen came back to the exam room with the recommended prescriptions, explained how to administer them, and even checked us out and scheduled my follow-up appointment from there! The staff also immediately faxed my pup's write-up to my regular vet (which I know because I followed up with my regular vet when I left and they told me they had already received it). Even the physical space has been modified to keep pups and their owners calm. The exam table (made of cold stainless steel that always causes my pup's legs to splay out in all directions) had a little throw rug on top of it so my little guy could stand on it without slipping. The seat in the exam room is actually a bench with a padded top so nervous dogs can sit with their owners. Everything about this place is friendly and efficient. The staff has thought about the needs of their clients (both human and animal) and adjusted the way they run things to be accommodating. I wish all medical professionals ran their practices like this! read more

Cannot recommend enough. I didn't work with Dr. Abrams directly, but the other doctor and the staff at Eye Care for Animals are top notch. Very professional and on top of their game. Our pug had a horrible eye injury a year ago and when we moved to RI, we had to find new care. He ended up having the eye removed after making every reasonable effort to save it. The staff here was so helpful and knowledgeable throughout the process. We were given options and everything was explained in detail. I felt like they really tried to give us different options for care and to save money when possible. Follow up calls to check on our guy were really helpful and we were able to get answers over the phone to avoid the 40 minute drive when possible. Really, I can't say enough good things about this place. They even gave us advice on doctors to check out when we move again next month. Dealing with eye injuries can be stressful and expensive and the staff here tries to help make it as painless as possible. I wish we could take them with us when we move! read more

My pittie mix was diagnosed with glaucoma by our vet and she really was very sick. However, in the two days it took to see Dr. Binder she was almost all better. He was very reassuring and respectful but since our dog didn't really need further treatment since she just had a mystery reaction to something and not glaucoma, I'll tell you some things that really impressed me. He let us know the price of tests he wanted to run right up front. He made sure we really knew that if our dog got worse to call anytime (and there's a sign on the front door saying the vet is available 24 hours a day for a consultation) and they check you out in the exam room instead of at the desk. Our dog can be aggressive to other dogs so we love that we don't have to wait around hoping she doesn't have an incident. I hope all the doggies have healthy eyes, but if they don't, take them to Eye Care for Animals in Warwick. read more
