I have bringing my daughter here for 10 years and the service has gone downhill. Today is the last straw. I will NEVER come here again. This year it's taken 3 times to get the prescription right, now it's been over 90 days since the first appointment. They canceled on us once without notification, so we showed up for nothing. We cancelled once because my son had emergency surgery.... my grandfather just passed away last night and when I tried to reschedule my appointment for later this week because of every thing going on the receptionist wanted to scold me for "no shows", after I told her my grandfather just passed away and I was overwhelmed! Yea, I had a breakdown and cried on the phone... so now I am here, WAITING as usual... and I am here early but I can almost guarantee we won't be seen at our actual appointment time. We usually have to wait for at least 20 minutes past our appointment time. Thank you to receptionist who couldn't find an ounce of compassion on one the hardestbdays of my life! Shame on you eye design, your service has dropped so much over the years, but this is a whole new low! read more

While the doctors were great and very friendly the staff are ridiculous. I have been wearing contacts for 10 years. I needed to use my benefits before the end of the year. My initial appointment was 12/17. I left that day under the impression that my contacts were ordered as they did not have them in stock. I was told they would call and leave a message once they were in. I pre-paid so when I come back I do not have to deal with that. Never did I get a call nor a voicemail. I called 3 weeks later and spoke with the receptionist (who was a complete smart ass) who told me I had not paid and my contacts cannot be ordered until I come for my follow up. Nobody had explained this to me so of course I was confused. After setting the record straight that I did pre-pay...I set up a follow up appointment for 02/04 so I can get the contacts ordered. I went on 02/04 and had my follow up appointment. Which in my opinion was completely unnecessary for someone who has been wearing contacts for 10 years. The doctor checked my eyes again and confirmed that they fit correctly which I could have confirmed at my original appointment. I was sat down and they tried telling me again that I had not paid. Once again I set them straight that I had pre-paid so I didn't have to deal with this yet here we were. I confirmed once again that they will call and leave a message once the contacts are in. And yet again...no call...no message...almost 3 weeks later. I again call and as I expected my contacts have been in! They claim that they called and left a message. At this point I honestly don't care. This has been the most time consuming, ridiculous experience I have had. It should not be that hard for someone to order some contacts. Here I am over 2 months later still without contacts and having to waste another day of my weekend dealing with this. Definitely not brining my business here again. read more

Have been a loyal customer for years, myself and husband. Last year they gave my husband the wrong glasses (wrong prescription lens but right frames), this year mu lens were also wrong and the eye tech took it upon herself to order something different, never explained to me so finally a month later get the RIGHT ones. The worst part is they over charged me. The eye techs handwritten scribbles on paper, then enter in the computer something else, which never adds up. And when they give you the printed ledger breakdown, just a bunch of dollar amounts that still don't make sense. I can only imagine how many customers have been scammed out out money and never know it while Eye Designs pocket every cent. Never going back! They are not trustworthy. Buyer beware!! read more

Is this an optometry office or a used car dealership?? So ridiculous, I don't even feel like my prescription is correct but I'm dreading going back. Not to mention I don't trust anything I'm told here because all they want to do is sell stuff! And I still have dry eyes because I wasted my yearly visit at this "optometry office" and all I got was a sales pitch and a referral to his wife's practice which of course isn't covered by insurance .. This review is for their phone customer service only. My husband recommended this place because he's been here before and he liked the optometrist. So I called to make an appointment and got Emily on the other line and it just went down from there..... Emily: Do you have insurance? Is it medi-cal? Me: yes I'm under my husband's policy (don't know what medi-cal is so didn't answer that) Emily: I don't see your name under your husband's policy. Are you sure you're included? Me: yes (I've used this insurance from chiropractors to hospital ER's for the last 2 years!) Emily: Are you sure cause I don't see your name After awhile I just realized they don't want my business. Most places won't even get your insurance info until you come in for your first appointment! This is just BAD business practice! OK so now I changed and go to this Eye designs. They weren't aware of my daughters appointment even though I confirmed the day before. Then my husband had to schedule her for contact lenses which was at 12 o'clock. It's now almost 3 o'clock and they're still not done because they take their time because they have all day. They said they didn't know that she needed to fly exam before how stupid is that? And on top of that the appointment is for 12 o'clock there's two people in there and she doesn't even get seen after I leave at 12:20. It was actually a girl just walking around for 20 minutes with a folder in her hand I didn't get it. Now it's time for me to look for a new eye place on yelp. One of the best Optometry Offices I've been to. They have the best customer service and care about their patients.. My Optician Tatyana helped me find the perfect pair of frames and explained my benefits very well since I am new to this. I got educated on the lenses I'm getting and the great coatings they offer for best protection for my eyes from electronic devices and glare. It was a great experience and i will definitely be back next year for my Annual. Highly recommend this place to all my friends and family. read more

I'm writing a review because I think this office is doing a great job! My kids and I have been going here for years. Some days there is a wait, but every where you go there is gonna be a wait. Especially bringing 2 kids at the same time; that would be the reason for only 4 stars. Glad they finally got a bigger. Making an appointment has always been easy and never pushed to buy anything which is always nice. I have bought a couple pairs of glasses and the girls are always so friendly and helpful find what fits my face as well as look good too. read more

The worst experience ever! Last year I had my eye exam at this office and the prescription was wrong. I didn't like any frames at Sunrise store so I took my prescription and went to another store (not Eye Designs). I found frames I liked and had the glasses made, but something wasn't right, they remade the glasses twice before we figured out the Rx was not correct. Eye Designs offered to redo my exam - each time I was there the wait was long even though I had an appointment. The exam was rushed and poorly done. The glasses with the second RX also did not work for me. I asked Eye Designs if they could help. I asked VSP, my insurance, if they had any suggestions. If Eye Designs would release me from paying for the first appointment I could get the appointment at the new store covered. Eye Designs would not help me out. read more

I just went here for the first time today for my first eye exam since I was 7. Everyone was very friendly, helpful and totally willing to explain everything to me as we went. I ended up having to get glasses, and the whole process was very easy and hassle-free! I will definitely continue coming here for any future eye needs. read more

My first appointment went great. But from that point forward I have had nothing but issues with them. I wanted to get contacts with them but it was just one issue after another. the only reason they are getting a 1 is because of the first visit. I will tell all of the employees at my work exactly how I was treated and make sure they know not to go here. They seem so incompetent. It should not take me losing money at work to get a contact check apointment. Especially when I have one and I can't go to it because you don't have the contact samples for me to try. Sorry doesn't cut it. I ordered glasses off line and will have to stick with those and just keep having the issues I have because you all screwed me out of being able to use my insurance for two years. Just went in to to pay my overages and copays on a pair of every day glasses, and a pair of computer vision glasses. I can not stress enough what a great experience it was. I can only say I must of lucked out as a optician named Ryan helped me. Instead of just ringing up the order I had put in the weekend before she explained the frames I selected for my computer pair were showing in the system as men but were women's. She showed me what they looked like and they were not what I wanted. Whew glad someone there is on it THANK YOU Ryan, you ROCK!!! Ryan sat down with me and we went through a lot of pairs of frames. She was extremely helpful and funny. Found me a pair I liked (which is hard as I am picky) and even saved me $40.00. Best experience I have ever had at a place I love. Even had friends come in while I was there because I had recommend the place to them as they had a bad experience at another provider. I will be coming back to this office and will ask for Ryan every time! read more

I had an eye exam on April 27th and ordered new contacts from them that day, however I didn't get a call saying that they had them until the beginning of June. Plus when they called they failed to mention that they messed up the order and double ordered my left eye contacts rather than ordering my right eye contacts too. I only found this out from my mom though and they didn't mention any of this when I came in to pick up the left contacts. I had to ask them when the rights would be in, which they assured me that I would receive a call when they were in. But now it's almost been 3 months since my appointment and I haven't received any calls about the status of my order. I have had to call them once or twice to ask about it and to at least get a two week trial, which they gave me, but again when I went in they didn't mention anything about whether or not my right contacts were in. I've never had an issue with them before regarding ordering contacts, but the lack of communication on their part is incredibly disappointing. read more

I have to agree with Bradley R. I have been going to Eye Designs for over 10 years. I've notice that the front office staff is very snobbish and unprofessional. I even had one of the optometrists (Dr. Corpus) be a little snippy with me, which really set me back and even hurt my feelings. After all, I've always had gentle and polite optometrists. Where are you Dr. Murphy? I do realize that Dr. Murphy has built his business in other locations, but it had always been nice to know you were see a professional. I have not been back since the incident with Dr. Corpus and will not return ever again. read more

After being presented with glasses that were WAY out of focus, the staff spent over 20 minutes insisting that I take the glasses with me. Then if I was still unhappy after a few weeks, I was to come back for a prescription review. These are normal reading glasses, no add ons, tint, progressive, nothing, just plain 2.25 reading glasses that did not work. My insurance was bill for in full for the glasses and frames using up my entire annual coverage for the glasses that never fit, never worked and that I never took possession of. Next year when my coverage renews, I will find a new office that cares about the customer, and not just strong arming people into taking a defective product. read more

I am utterly disappointed by the customer service at this location. There is a specific woman there that should no longer be, as her customer service skills are loathsome. She acts as though every question you ask is a burden and her answer is always "You'll just get used to it" or "Maybe you'll get used to it." The quality control at their lab is also suspect. The place has gone to shits since Thomas Murphy isn't working in the Arden office anymore. I love my insurance and how it provides me a great benefit, but unfortunately the office manager and staff are not up to par with customer service. It seems that they are lacking morale and always are under stress or busy. They do not offer to follow up or do customer service and when you call to find out what is going on after the quoted turn around time is passed and surpassed you call to check they put you on hold forever and then answer as if you are interrupting or bothering them. If I am calling about my glasses after an order, to me the business is dropping the ball. There should always be follow up especially when they do not meet their quoted turn around time. The very next day I should be getting a call with information on why my order is not available after their quoted timeframe and a new timeframe. I hate when staff says I don't know ....I don't work that department...well then why are you answering the phone, and if you can't get me someone who can! When you do call you get a monotone office manager who is extremely rude and makes you feel like you have interrupted her day. The worst experience I have had at that office hands down. I purchased a prescription pair of sunglasses and paid in full same day, also had a pair of glasses sent back for repair. TAT was 10 business days. We are now going on a new month and im pissed. I will definitely be speaking to someone other than the office manager who acts like she could care less or give two fu*** about your issue. Completely disappointed. read more
