Got my updated, polarized sunglasses last week and they turned out to be yellow tinted. I was surprised and so was the girl behind the desk. But yesterday afternoon, driving my '97 Boxster back from Philly to Wilmington, it rained heavily the whole way and there was a lot of spray from speeding (55 limit = 70), heavy traffic and also fog on I-95. The yellow-tinted sunglasses turned out to be perfect fog and spray cutters. Quite amazing. I mean it was like the road was clear. Big trucks and black pickups come from the fast lane and cut in front of me to spray my yellow roadster good, but I was OK vision wise. Fortuitus mistake or not, the yellow tinting worked out fine. My wife has had several negative experiences with the female receptionist. It seems she lacks sufficient training on the necessary procedures. Furthermore, her interactions with clients have been consistently unprofessional and unhelpful. Additional training in customer service would greatly benefit her and improve the overall client experience. This situation requires immediate attention to prevent further issues. They are more interested in receiving their co-pay than having clients wait over an hour to be prepped. Appointments last between 2 - 3 hours for NO apparent reason when the procedure is about only 10 minutes in duration. read more

Worst run business I have ever seen. If you have appointment expect to be in there for 3 hours. Terrible and not very good at what they do.

I have had issues in the past with this office in Wilmington and they really need to get their act together. Looking at the overall Yelp rating I'm not suprised that I am the only one. The latest episode involved getting a procedure code for an eye test that I wasn't told about by myDoctor. I wanted the code so I could check with my Insurance Company to see if it was covered. I spent approx. I had spent at least 2 hours in talking with 4 different staff members and writing an emal over 3 days. Two of the staff didn't even bother calling me back. Finally late today one of the staff called and said the name of the test and she described it as if that would suffice. During this 10 minute call I kept asking about the code and She Kept Saying She Didn't Know It. Finally upon my persistance she Opened My Chart and said She Found It! This really unnerved me and I let her know it but before she gave me the code she put me on hold and never came back. After about 5 minutes I hung up and called the office back and they were closed. I didn't know her name to complain to the Manager but as in the past it does little good. read more

I have taken my 86 year old family friend to this office 3 times in the last four months for treatment of dry eye. He is very handicapped with a degenerative nerve disease. I went inside to get a wheelchair only to find one of the leg rests was off the chair. I asked for assistance because I couldn't get it back on and while they got it on one of the office staff said it just won't stay on. I don't know if you knew about this why don't you get a new wheelchair? The bottom line is the wait times are ridiculous. We arrived at 2:45 for his 3pm appointment and left the office at 5:15. They moved him to the waiting area in the back and after an hour and a half I asked what was causing the delay. I was told they were waiting for a room to open up. They attempted to do a test which they attempted to do the month before and he can't move his head into a position to conduct the test. I told the tech they couldn't do it the month before and inquired why that wasn't written in his chart before putting him through it again. She had no answer so I asked that she please write it in his chart. Then nothing, we waited until finally Jeannie saw us still waiting and she took over. They couldn't find his chart so I had to answer questions all over again but Jeannie was the only good thing about this visit. Dr finally came in but had to take another patient because they weren't finished with the eye exam. Someone mentioned that when you are an add on the wait times are longer. I explained we were not an add on this was a scheduled follow up visit. Dr Minkovitz returned and finished up the visit and of course he was wonderful. Maybe the techs were new I don't know but this is not acceptable. Jeannie seemed to be the only one who knew what she was doing. Kudos for her, I hope they are paying her well. His previous two visits had long wait times as well so I don't think this is an isolated incident and it needs to be addressed. read more

I had 2 cataract sugeries perofrmed by Dr. Minkovitz. He was extremely patient oriented, competent and kind-not to mention a miracle worker! I felt like he had given me my life back. I am very grateful! Dr. M's team was very helpful and kind, including Susan Osieski, who is patient contact for surgery. She was very organized and answered all of my questions. Dr. M's assistant was also helpful (sorry, I forget her name) and very much on the ball. However, I will say that my observation after everal years and many office visits is that the front office personnel at this office are abrupt and bordering on rude. At my last visit, I felt so bad for the elderly people who were waiting patiently for a long time and not getting any communication or kindness from the front office staff that I reported my feelings to Dr. M's staff. It would take so little to treat elderly (I'm 70-so I'm talking about those elder to me) patients with patience and kindness. It is also counterproductive, as they could be scaring patients away. Once you get beyond the gatekeepers, evereyone is professional and competent. I will also say that I had the same experience at the Surgical Center. The intake person was abrupt and cut me off in the middle of a question and then turned her back on me. However, once past her, the nurses, anaesthesiologist, surgeon and all I encountered were amazing. I'm noticing a trend? read more

My first visit with Dr. Otojare was perfect, especially after unpleasant experiences at other eye doctors. The staff is personable, engaged, down-to-earth but efficient and professional. Dr. Otojare herself was very cheerful and friendly. She explained everything as she proceeded with the exam, which was quite thorough. She didn't waste time, but I didn't feel rushed at all, and she was careful to answer all my questions. They were on-time for my early morning appointment. I decided to get Lasik surgery a few years ago, so I researched reputable ophthalmologists and decided on Dr. Minkovitz. It was important for me to find a competent and qualified but also personable physician, and Dr. Minkovitz certainly met those criteria. He has a friendly and calming disposition, and he explained every step prior to and during the EpiLasik surgery. He made me feel comforted and assured that I was in good hands. I am happy to report that I still have 20/15 four years later (I had horrible eye sight prior to the surgery)! Whenever I meet with Dr. Minkovitz (for yearly check ups), he is always warm and friendly and happily answers any question that I may have. I would most definitely recommend Dr. Minkovitz. Regarding the entire practice, I would recommend going earlier in the day as afternoon appointments typically take longer. However, the ophthalmic techs that I have worked with have all been friendly. Also, I do not mind that it typically takes a little bit longer to see Dr. Minkovitz as he does not seem rushed during the appointment. He does a thorough eye examination, answers all of my questions, and does not hurry me out the door. I would suggest making sure to give yourself enough time for the appointment and bringing something to read (or something to listen to in case they need to dilate your eyes). read more

The office staff is horrible! Quite rude and lacking in any sort of customer service. When I was asked what pharmacy my mom went to, I provided the town in which it was located and the woman cut me off and said "Well, I am asking for the name not the city" and so I told her the name and she said, "Yes! That's what I asked you the first time." Mmmkay. There is only one pharmacy to choose from in Rising Sun. Forgive me for thinking you might be able to figure that one out from your predetermined list. And had she not cut me off, the "name of the pharmacy" is "Rising Sun Pharmacy." Anywho, the techs are good at what they do and of course you spend your 4 out of your 5 hour visit with them. My mom had her first cataract surgery and during the follow up, the surgeon was explaining that she had one thing done and not the other. When I corrected him, he had to look in his chart to see that I was actually right. That's kind of scary. I mean, at least skim the patient's chart before you come into the room. 5 stars for the excellent techs and cleanliness of the rooms. I'd advise getting office staff who don't hate life. read more

I needed to have cataracts removed from both eyes, and Dr Minkovitz recommended I go with Toric lenses in both eyes. The surgery procedure was easy,painless, and quick. The procedures went very well, and I am now seeing better than I have in years! read more

Staff horrible, average wait time 1 and a half hours. The insult is I turned up once 15 minutes late and they cancelled my appointment Dr tuyen is the worse at over booking. Today a 3 30 appointment, I came at 3 15 to make sure I was not late...it's now 5 29 I just got in the chair. Next I paid in full for contacts filling fee, Routine visits for medical with the MD, only to get a whopping bill because Tuyen has been billing medical fee in addition to contact lens fitting. More insulting is the horrible billing staff, where calling in no call backs, then during office visit asking to see them and getting 3 Rd degree why and them refusing to see you. read more

I had an appoint for the beginning of April. Because of the Chinese Virus, they called to cancel. By the second week of June, I had not heard from them about rescheduling, so I called them. They stated that they are now down to only one doctor and that it would be September before they could give me another appt. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!! read more

I needed a cataract surgery. My friend recommended her eye surgeon to me and I visited his office. Since I have been a patient for years with the Eye Physicians and Surgeons office, after I read the credentials of Dr Minkovitz, I was very impressed and decided to go with him. He did cataract surgery for my right eye to correct far distance and astigmatism. I was so happy with the surgery and the quick recovery. After the surgery, the nurse and even Dr Minkovitz called to make sure I was ok. Other thing I was impressed also was the messages between the patient and the doctor online. He quickly addressed all my concerns before the surgery online and in person. The same service for my left eye was done later on this year. I highly recommended Dr. Minkovitz. Most of my friends sooner need cataract surgery. I told all my friends how happy I am with the surgery. It turned out one of my friend, her husband had cataract surgery with Dr Minkovitz and he is very happy with the result too. read more

I had cataracts and astigmatism. Dr. Minkovitz provided extensive background information on cataracts and eye surgery. He and his staff measured several aspects of my eye and recommended a particular lens. Dr. Minkovitz considered my history of diabetes and use of Flomax, which can complicate things. He explained the likely outcome of surgery as well as chances of complications. I was a bit nervous about the surgery, but the surgi-center reassured me. Surgery was quick and painless. Office staff communications skills are terrible! I had a 9:40 appointment with Dr Franklin for a routine eye exam and after waiting 1 hour I asked why the delay.. Receptionist answered curtly that there were overbooked and I just had to wait my turn..but my file was next, asking further if they knew that at my time of check -in they said yes they knew this info.I waited 10 more minutes and 7 other patients were called in so I again asked for an update and was told abruptly " why do you leave then ! Having gone through 66 years living with my lazy right eye from birth and totally relying ,on just my left eye; my quality of life began to diminish when cataracts began to take away the once healthy and clear vision once afforded from my left eye. I knew it was time to get the cataracts removed and to my surprise found out that with the improvements made with Lasik technology, that there was now a very good probability that even my life long lazy eye might have a very good chance of improving! Knowing I wanted the care form the best in this medical field, I waited until I got an appointment with eye surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Minkovitz, Eye Physicians and Surgeons, P.A. as he was recommended to me a few years ago by the Wills Eye Medical Center in Philadelphia. Fast forward to today; after 2 very successful procedures, my 20/20 vision is in my opinion as good as it ever was and with respect to my lazy eye, it is now better then it ever was. I can not say enough about the love for his craft that Dr. Minkovitz brings into the surgical room. I would recommend Dr. Minkovitz to anyone looking for the very best eye care available today. I have been a patient for years. Parking can be tight during peak times, so it's best to not be in a rush. The staff definitely tries to keep things moving but it can be difficult. I'm a stickler for customer service so it's important just to be patient because you will wait. I think because I know what to expect, I really can't complain. They keep a rotation of patients so it's like forever busy. Bring your own reading materials or earbuds to keep busy while you wait. read more

I made a telephone call to the billing office to inquire about a bill I received. The woman who I spoke with was short with me even before I could explain why I was calling. The entire conversation she acted rude and not interested. All of the doctors that I have seen there have been fine, no problems. In fact, they usually go out of their way to be kind and will take time to explain things. Next month when I am there I will be letting the doctor know that they need to start replacing the personnel there! read more

The staff at the desk were all lovely and all of the people who assist the docs are nice as well. But my experience with Dr. Tuyen is that she treated me like I was either an 80 yr old, or a 5 yr old. Very patronizing, she was also in a huge rush, when she took me thru the eye exams, she flipped the slides so fast I couldn't finish any of them. I am currently trying contact lenses for the first time and she was in such a rush, i left sort of clueless about them. This practice is very busy, but they have adequate staff to keep things moving. I have found the support staff very helpful, professional and accommodating. Dr. Minkovitz did my cataract surgery and is a consummate professional. Even called me in the evening after my surgery to see how I was doing. He has impeccable credentials and I would highly recommend the practice as well as the surgeon. Love the service that I got with Dr. Tuyen. She was able to assist me when I had unfortunately got a bad spray of cologne in my eye ! I couldn't even keep my eye open and it just kept feeling like it was burning. Dr. Tuyen went above and beyond and saw me right away to assist me with my eye emergency. She was thorough and professional in her explanation of how to handle this situation. She was able to calm me down and reassure me that with some antibiotics it would be better within a few days. She followed up with me on the phone as well. My eye was fine and overall she was very helpful! Would recommend her to anyone. read more

Keratoconus - awful experience. At my first visit, which I thought was for contact fitting, after my exam I was told I needed to make a separate appointment to get fitted for contact lenses, and that they never schedule both the same day. I made a separate appointment, saw contact lens specialist, and then was told I would have to come back 3 to 6 more times to get fitted for the lenses (which was never mentioned at my first visit) 6-8 visits to get contacts??? I have had keratoconus for 20 years, lived in 6 cities, and never had this experience. The icing on the cake was that it would cost $1,400 for my lens. I have had much better success at Scheie Eye and Wills Eye, but was trying to avoid traveling into Philadelphia, but I'll be doing just that. read more
