She did a very thorough examination on my eyes, was very clear in explaining the results, and patiently answered all of my questions. I have been going to Brandywine Eye Center for a few years and I absolutely love the staff there. When you walk in, you are greeted immediately and checked-in. Your short wait, if any, is in a comfortable open quiet area. The office and exam rooms are clean and comfortable. Dr. Shyu, all other doctors and nurses are knowledgeable professionals who put me at ease during my exam. Explanations of procedures, exams and results were done in a way that I could understand. Treatment plans were reviewed before I left the office. The practice excepted my 19 year old son who had Autism as a patient without hesitation. They manage his care with patience and compassion. I saw Dr Shyu in 2023 and I hadn't gone to any Eye Dr in years and he told me that when I came back the next year I was going to have laser on my eyes done because of cloudiness on my lens from having cataract surgery many years before. When I went back in 2024 he told me about getting new glasses because my vision hasn't changed much and since it was a long time since I got glasses I went ahead and did that but I did speak to him about having the laser treatment done on my eyes and he said that they didn't need done and this past year I went into the office and the lady at the desk said that if I wanted my vision checked it would be an extra $65 so I told her no and they did an complete check up on me anyway. The Doctor told me my vision was good and I can see his assit next time I come in which is next year. read more

Dr. Shyu and all the office staff are personable, patient, and helpful. They take the time to explain what they're doing and why and make you feel comfortable with the whole experience. They're also clean - I witnessed them wiping down surfaces regularly! I will be back for my next eye exam. read more

Where do I start... I called BEC for some simple information about insurance before I made my online appointment for a simple vision exam. Oh, BTW, I'm sure you would ask me why I just didn't make the appointment and ask this information when I arrived? Well BEC demands your credit card online for booking the account and announces it will charge you $100 if you miss the appointment. That alone made me feel real warm and fuzzy. I got "Cindy" on the phone and Cindy was full of attitude from the very start. Not only didn't Cindy answer my simple question, but twenty seconds into the conversation, Cindy slams me on hold, telling me "I have an important store customer in front of me, you're going to have to hold". I kid you not, that's what I was told. After waiting a good five minutes, Cindy comes back on the line with no pleasant niceties like I'm sorry for the wait, but Sir how can I help you. I explained again the information I was seeking, and again Cindy started talking right over top of me, inferring that I had not heard what she had told me previously. I finally became frustrated and asked Cindy if there was an office manager, or someone in charge or of ownership in the store that I could speak with. I received more "attitude", in a response of "there's no one like that here". Cindy never asked me my name, or contact information and that she was sorry and would have someone get back to me. I really became annoyed and told her I didn't appreciate her attitude, she replied..."OH REALLY, No one's ever told me that before". I said well let me be the first and advised her I was going to write this ding on Yelp, she replied..."GOOD". read more

He also has helped me in a bind to get me a new pair of glasses with his optical shop. I moved to the area recently and wanted to find a good eye doctor. I believe I have found him! This was my first time to Brandywine Eye Center and I had an excellent experience. I was brought in on time and Dr Shyu introduced himself, shook my hand, and told me about his background and services they provide. Nice professional touch. Never felt rushed. The exam seemed very thorough and I feel pretty confident I'm in good hands. Other: the ladies behind the counter could not have been nicer. There is also an optician onsite so it was one stop. The only downside is I wish they had weekend or night hours. But it's a very small practice, so I understand. It gives me an excuse to take a day off once a year. read more

His team was very helpful with the administrative items and screening exams as well. My last visit in December 2017 to this office was awful. The office manager was flying around like a tyrant causing all kinds of upset with the employees which resulted in a bad customer experience for me. More recently I encountered this same person on the phone. She was very rude to me, interrupting me and acting very superior. I did originally complain to Dr Sherry about this office manager. He then informed me that this office manager was his wife and excused her behavior by saying she was doing a good job and running a tight ship. Apparently he did nothing to address his wife's behavior as she is not only rude to her employees but to patients as well. I have no recourse but to go public as I have attempted to address this in person to no avail. I'd been a patient in this practice for years. I won't be going back. read more

Apparently Dr. Jupiter has left the practice but I was not notified. When I called to make an appointment, I was told they no longer did routine eye exams there. I don't care on how bad terms they parted ways, the office staff who used to be so great were rude and unhelpful. read more

A fantastic team and such wonderful care from everyone from the front desk staff to Ada, the ophthalmic technician, to Dr. Shyu!!! Cannot rave enough about the high quality of care I received! Everyone was so professional and caring. Ada and Dr. Shyu took the time to explain answers to my questions so patiently, and never made me feel rushed in the visit even though I was the last patient of the day. Dr. Shyu also went above to explain his thought process and reasoning during his evaluation, which was very helpful. The whole visit was comprehensive and comfortable.
