I had visited about 6 optometrists all around Pasadena and South Pas, looking for the right frames. I look funny in anything larger than a child's frame so it was a bit of a hunt. The staff at Eye Place Optometry was wonderful - everyone I worked with was very helpful. They had a great selection. I found frames I liked and then they were able to order them in a different color and different size. This doctor got rave reviews so I thought I'd give them a try! Getting an appointment was a breeze. I even got directions from the girl on the phone. I'm always a little suspicious about business that have perfect (or close to perfect) Yelp reviews. However, Dr. Vipapan and his staff lived up to all of the great things that I had read about them. The doctor took the time to answer all of my questions and explained everything he did. I really felt like I had his undivided attention during my appointment. I was having problems with headaches when I wear contact lenses so Dr. Vipapan changed the type of lens I was using. They are SO much more comfortable than my old ones. The contact lens fitting fee covered the initial fitting, a follow up exam a week later, and two pairs of contact lenses. They also gave me a paper copy of my glasses and contact lens prescriptions without having to ask. The front desk staff was super friendly and professional. When I made the appointment over the phone, the receptionist took my insurance information and told me exactly what it would (and would not) cover and what the fees for everything would be. I am extremely satisfied with my entire experience at Eye Place Optometry. The place is well kept, and the employees are very kind and you can tell that they enjoy helping patients. Dr. Vipapan is extremely knowledgeable and took his time with me in order to accomplish my goal of better vision with new contact lenses. Dr. V is a genuinely good optometrist not only because he's kind, but because he explains each procedure being done and explains what the prescription means. The place is awesome! I had a contact lens exam there. Doctor Vipapan spent an hour with me. And I have worn lens before. Not new to it. He explained everything he was doing. Answered all my questions, and beyond. He told me even more than I asked. He also is very detail oriented. Noticed things that my previous optometrists did not. For example, my left eye is -2.50, but I can not see really clear with such a lens. What would most people think is to go for -2.75. But not in my case. It turned out I have a very small astigmatism (.50), which is not corrected by lens. (they start from .75) To make it shorter, this thing is hard to notice, and Dr. Vipapan was the 1st who got it. He really takes his time when performing an exam. Another thing I like about the office is that I've never been pushed. Like other places often do, pushing on you to buy this or that. The assistant is great too. I called there the day before an appointment. And she calculated everything, even called to my insurance for me, and made everything as cheap as possible for me. She was really helpful. I like everything about the office. The location is perfect. It's clean. Has a wide variety of frames for reasonable prices. Friendly stuff. You name it. I love this office. Everyone there is so helpful from the people at the desk to the doctor. They'll help explain your insurance to you and make sure you understand everything. Dr Vipipan is great and doesn't try to sell you on things that you do not really need. He gives you a straight forward assessment and discusses your options and he's also just a genuinely nice man. They can get hooked up so make sure to call in advance. On my most recent visit he was out of town and Dr. Wu was taking care of his patients. I just had a terrific experience here. The front desk staff was helpful, the intake paperwork was 1 page and easy to fill out, the OD was thorough and thoughtful. He asked good questions during his exam and included extra exam components that I have not had done at other optometry providers... leaving me feeling like I was in great hands. To top it off, a women named Pim did an excellent job at helping me select frames that fit appropriately on my face. She offered honest advice regarding anti-glare and other add-on options. I think this is the best eye care service I have ever received! Dr. Vipapan is fantastic, he spent an hour on my annual exam, and really took the time to explain everything that is going on with my eyes (it's called "aging"!). Best. Prescription. Ever. I had terrible problems finding a good optometrist in Pasadena, suffering with bad prescriptions and eye complications. I had just about given up hope... then I found Dr. V!! He is absolutely the best. It has been years since my eyesight was this good. No distortion. No headaches. Just perfect 20/20 vision. Their frame selection is great, but being the eyewear snob I am (needed my Oliver Peoples) I went down the street to Moda (also five-star fantastic). After I left the office, Eye Place realized there was a minor problem with the scrip and that my glasses might not be made correctly... Fortunately, they remembered me saying I was going to Moda for my frames and called to fix the problem of their own volition. Unbelievable service. They also did not pressure me to buy contacts through them and gave me my contact scrip to buy online after the sample lenses were approved. And, yeah, Dr. V put me back on my old brand.
