Dr. Vipapan is the best optometrist I've ever seen (out of 7+). In fact, I've never had any doctor of any kind care as much as he does. I first saw him about a year ago and I was amazed with how thorough he was when trying to find the right contact for me. He took the extra time to get to know me and discuss any concerns he had about my eyes. When I came back to test out some new contacts, he was just as welcoming and thorough with his review. I've had some optometrists in the past who just rushed through the exam and tried to push product on me. Dr. Vipapan and his staff were quite the opposite. The staff members are extremely friendly, on top of things, and very responsive. They also seem to really care. A couple days ago, I had some eye soreness. Dr. Vipapan was booked for weeks but wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with my eye. I saw him within 2 hours of my phone call. It was time for my first adult eye exam, and like any dutiful Yelper, I searched Yelp to see where was the best place to go. I read the reviews here, and despite there being no website, I knew this was where I wanted to come. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The only waiting time I did was the time I spent filling out the normal forms you fill out before visiting a doctor for the first time. Then after 2 quick machine tests (can't tell you what they were, because frankly I just don't remember) I went in with Dr. Vipapan. He answered all of my questions thoroughly (I had a lot) and even did some further explanation of the eye systems. He was friendly, knowledgable, and efficient. After having gone to Lens Crafters for years, we decided to try a new place to take care of our vision. I cannot express how happy we all are that we did. Don't get me wrong... Lens Crafters is ok but it lacks everything that Eye Place Optometry excells in. #1.... unsurpassed customer service. From the time you make the appointment to the time you leave the office, you truly feel like you are the last glass of water in the desert. Starting with Pim who took my initial phone call. We thought we weren't eligible due to our insurance. She followed up with me several times and did her best to figure out our coverage. After a bit of a broken heart, I thought I wasn't eligible to recieve services from Eye Place. Approx an hour after we hung up, Pim called me back and said she did a little research on her own. She found out that we would be covered, there was just a glitch in the changing of names of our insurance provider. Due to her going the extra mile, we will now all be taken care of at this establishment. We then move on to Dr. Vipapan. He was simply wonderful. He was friendly, thorough, professional, and funny. He took his time to explain every aspect of the eye exam, taught my daughter about her visual fields and changes in vision, even recommended prescription goggles that could be purchased on line for a reasonable price. At this point, I knew we have made an excellent decision for our entire four eyed family. Lastly, we have Mindy. For those of you who wear glasses, you can understand and appreciate the overwhelming feeling of trying on glasses that are locked up in cases, putting them on in front of strangers, and being forced to look at yourself in the mirror in front of others. At least I usually feel overwhelmed by this. Not only did Mindy take her time with us, she made us laugh and feel absolutely wonderful about ourselves in the process. She was honest, genuine, and reassuring. The appointment was for our daughter, but I was taken care of at the same time, even though my appointment is next week. Mindy is attentive, easy to talk to, and enjoyable during the entire process. I truly appreciate Yelp at this time. If it wasn't for the great reviews that I read on Yelp, I would never have come across this little gem. If you care about your eyes and your happiness... give them a try. This is why I love yelp! I looked at the list of optometrists my insurance covered and compared it to the list on yelp, looking for the highest number of stars. I've never been to an optometrist before, so I didn't know any other way to go about it. I'm new to the optometry thing. Always had good eyes but getting up there in years. The experience just could not have been better. The staff moved me through the process quickly when possible and patiently when I hemmed and hawed (my first pair of glasses, man, they gotta look cool). And the tweaking they did to the frames to make them fit my face was impressive. I thought they were pretty decent out of the box, but now they fit so well I barely notice them. I can't imagine this going any better unless they gave me a free beer. Great place. read more

Doctor and staff are AWESOME. So hard to find people who still give a damn about their jobs but these people do. 1. Mindy went out of her way to research my coverage with Blue Cross, not an easy feat, before our appointment. Then she called the next day when she said she'd call - never ceases to amaze me how often people fail at this simple task. 2. Dr Vipapan took the time to explain the crazy numbers on my prescription. I've been wearing contacts for over 20 years and no doctor has ever done this before. Never even thought to ask what those numbers meant. 3. My eye exam was so thorough, I was in there at least 30 minutes at which time, Dr. Vipapan and I talked about our family histories. This made me feel like he wasn't only interested in getting my money as quickly as possible. 4. No one likes the eye puffing machine. Theirs was very quiet and subtle. I felt bad that this office wasn't busier. My husband and I were the only people in there on a Saturday afternoon. I hope this place stays in business. I'm going to refer them to everyone. read more

I found this place here on Yelp. First off, the people who work here are all very pleasant, very nice. The doctor who examined me very efficient, very patient. He and his technicians understood exactly what I wanted. I would say the selection of glasses for men was good. Not extensive but good. I found what I wanted. If I had to pick out anything negative at all the only negative I could possibly come up with is that you will be in there for a good amount of time with them because they are very thorough. I've been wearing glasses since I was 10. When you've been going to an optometrist for most of your life, you've become used to the quirks of an eye exam. A few optometrists have scared me through the years and their staff usually leaves much to be desired. So last year, I was really fed up with the optometrists I've been going to. My friend recommended Dr. Vipapan at Eye Place Optometry to me. My exam last year was great and they mailed my contacts to my office with no extra charge. I even got a slight discount since I got a referral. This year, a postcard came to remind me to have my exam. For some reason, my insurance never seems to cover glasses (it's always "next year). With Eye Place, I was able to break that cycle and got glasses. In January, I'll be able to order contacts. Hurrah! I beat the system! Dr. Vipapan is very gentle and through out the exam I was very comfortable. One of his staff, Mindy, is seriously the nicest person. She couldn't help me with my frames so someone else helped me but she noticed they probably wouldn't be great with my high index lenses (damn, my eyes are bad) and the doctor confirmed her opinion. There's free two-hour parking in the back. Don't let the pay machine scare you. You don't need to do anything and the exam shouldn't be more than an hour and half. They're sandwiched between Panda Express and Zono Sushi. read more

I looked at a lot of eye doctors through my insurance network (CIGNA) and found Eye Place Optometry on Yelp. They have really good reviews so I decided to go. Mindy, who I talked with to make an appointment was an absolute sweetheart. When I went in, Mindy and the girls in reception were really nice and friendly. It didn't take long before the doctor took me in. Dr. V is AWESOME! He's so nice and honest and gentle. He took the time to explain things to me extensively and took time trying to find the right grade for my eyes. I've never been so happy coming out of an eye clinic! I'm a busy person. This worked out for me. Make your appointment as early as you can in the morning. Don't make an appointment around lunch as you will have to compete for parking. The staff does a great job making you feel comfortable about the entire process (exam, insurance, purchase, maintenance, etc.). Dr. Vipapan is a pro. He was very good and got me the right contacts. He also extensively explained everything I needed to know about my prescription. He told me stuff about my eyes that I did not know beforehand. It was an excellent exam. Couldn't have had a better experience getting my first pair of glasses. I already had my prescription so i was just looking for a cheap place to get my frames. Was going to do a bit of window shopping but the customer service here was so good that I didn't bother going anywhere else. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable about the glasses and their fit. They made sure the frames I picked out fit my giant head. Would definitely recommend this place to all of my friends and family. Dr. V is awesome. Nicest optometrist I've ever had and I've been to plenty trying to find the right one. He explains what he's doing and answers all questions that you may have. He's patient and very personable. His practice doesn't have a website, but after reading all his reviews I knew I had to check it out. That's just how good he is! Plus he has a wonderful staff. Mindy is the best at fitting your glasses and she'll work with you until it's comfortable to wear. You can always come in for tightening or readjustment anytime for free too. Pim is also great! She gives her honest opinion when helping me find the right frame for my face and was sweet to let me try on a gazillion frames. If you don't find the frame you want there and they carry the brand you want then they can even order them for you too. Parking is free for the first 90 mins, but if you go during lunch time then the place gets pretty packed because it's surrounded by restaurants. read more

For years my mother was convinced that our insurance only covered doctors where they lived (her insurance is free through work, but your PCP has to be in their network), so for years I would treck back home to see the eye doctor. A few days ago my mom finally realized that VSP is taken anywhere (something I have been saying for years, but without access to the insurance I couldn't prove it). So I quickly jumped on yelp and started looking for a doctor. I found two choices, this place and another one. While this place didn't have as many reviews as the other, there was something that I just seemed to like about what people were saying about here. After my experience today I know I picked the right place. The facility is clean, open, and very welcoming. They also seem to have the latest gizmos and gadgets for your eyes (he had things my old doctor never had). Instantly I was very impressed. Dr. V was great. He walked me through everything he was doing, seemed to know before I did which was better (1 or 2), and he wasn't selling me anything. He kept saying that I could take this prescription and go anywhere I wanted with it. First time I feel like a doctor wasn't hard selling me something. The receptionist (I didn't catch her name, but I gather from other reviews is Mindy) was wonderful. Picking glasses is not something I enjoy and I am not very good at it (why I still have my old glasses that everyone hates). At my old doctors you were expected to bring your choices to them. Here Mindy helped me by picking out glasses that she thought I would like. I was blown away by how quickly and accurately she figured out my style. I also appreciated that she too didn't hard sell me on anything. She explained very clearly what my insurance would cover, and what the best options were given my insurance. I have had some hit or miss experiences with doctors and ended up finding Dr. V after I was treated terribly by staff at another optometrist's office. Mindy is as likable and helpful as the reviews rave about and just so easy to deal with. The other girls are just as helpful as Mindy and never roll their eyes or put up a fight when I want to try on several pairs of glasses or have millions of questions about my prescriptions. They actually do their jobs, all the while with helpful smiles. I always feel bad when I end relationships with doctors I love over the dread of dealing with their incompetent and inflexible staff, but customer service reallyyyyyyyyyyyy makes or breaks it for me. Dr. V is awesome! He is truly caring, patient, and knows what he's doing! I've had trouble getting a contact lens prescription for my left eye for years now, and despite warning him that I, myself, had given up trying, he took the time to check it out anyway! He ended up fixing this long-time annoyance after only 1 visit! He's also very good about allowing you time to ask as many questions as necessary at every visit. I never, ever feel rushed and always feel like a priority. Another amazing plus is that they don't make you feel uncomfortable about wanting to order contact lenses through another source. I almost always end up ordering through them anyway, but I love that it's not an awkward battle to ask for my prescription if I do want to order elsewhere. Love this place! read more

Been going to eye doctors for years and he is by far the best I've ever been to. He is genuinely concerned for the health of your eyes and will take the time to give you a good expirience. A very nice person with an approachable demenour. I didn't have to wait AT ALL. I went in for an exam and he came into the exam room right when I did. Eye Place Optometry has proved to be a wonderful little discovery, thanks to Yelp. Dr. Vipapan did a thorough examination and offered some insights on my eyes, glasses, contacts, etc. The cost for the eye exam and contact lens fitting was quite reasonable. Dr. Vipapan is a "real doctor" ... as opposed to just an eyeglasses/contacts salesman, which is what you see in some other places. I felt like I was being treated like his patient, not just another customer. The rest of the staff, including Mindy, are also great. Friendly and helpful. We didn't really know what to expect - just read the great reviews on yelp - and did not get disappointed !! Very caring, personal, well-trained, attentive and skilled people that know exactly what they're doing. My husband lost his glasses and urgently needed some new ones. The challenge: we only had 4 days till we would leave the country for 3 weeks. So we made an appointment, did not have to wait at all when we got there, and the glasses were ready 3 days later. "We will be back" can be taken absolutely literally as I've just made an appointment for my mother-in-law for this Friday. She broke her glasses 2 days ago and urgently needs new ones. There's free 2 hr parking behind the building on Shoppers Lane (it's a road). The stores has a good selection on glasses. I arrived about 10 mins before my appointment. Receptionist was nice and the new customer form was a fairly straightforward one page. However, the optometrist didn't see me until 30 minutes after my appointment (so 40 min wait). From there on, my experience was great. I've been a contact/glasses wearer for the last 15 years, and Dr. Vipapan was the nicest and most thorough optometrist that I've been to. He also took some time to explain to me that the conversion from glasses to contacts was really just a chart - and he didn't charge me for the "service" to check the chart. Most optometrists will charge you for glasses AND contact lens prescriptions. read more

Went back a year later for my annual eye exam. I felt welcome from the start. I made the appointment over the phone and Mindy remembered me as soon as I said my name. Since, I had a change in employer they looked up my new insurance coverage and went through the differences with me. I love how you always know where you stand. Dr. Vipapan provided a thorough and professional exam. He even suggested a home remedy for my dry eyes instead of prescribing drops. My astigmatism got a little worse. He said if I were going to get new glasses, he would give a new prescription, but I would be ok with keeping the same pair I had. Since my overall prescription didn't change, they didn't require a new contact lense fitting (which would have been an additional fee). I appreciate how they don't try to overcharge you or make you feel like you need to spend more money every year. They are completely thorough and willing to explain everything to you. read more

First, I called to say I was going to be 15 mins. late (ended up being 20... sorry). Both doctor and staff still greeted me with a smile when I walked in, and my entire appointment was not at all rushed; Dr. V was also very thorough with explaining my prescription and the health of my eyes. The receptionist was patient with explaining my insurance stuff and did not pressure me to buy this/that. I love this place! After going to "that other" optometry place in Pasadena and being treated like part of a cattle herd for so many years, not only is it refreshing to go to an office like Eye Place Optometry, but it also makes you appreciate having a doctor who prioritizes his patients' health over lining his own pocketbook. read more

Everything I'm going to write here has already been mentioned by almost every other reviewer here. I came here based on all the nice Yelp reviews. I've always gone to Linden for my optical needs, and felt that it was time for a change. What a change it was. Doctor Vipapan's staff is super friendly. Mindy and (Pim?) were both very attentive and sweet. The office was clean and well-lit. It was a lot quieter here than Linden, which could sometimes feel like Grand Central Station (I'm assuming as I have never been to Grand Central Station, but people seem to think it's really busy there, so I'll borrow the analogy). So in this serene atmosphere enters Doctor Vipapan. Doctor Vipapan is very warm and pleasant to deal with. He was very informative, and provided me with the most comprehensive eye exam I've ever received. I learned a lot about my eyes and the effects that aging will have on them. I will gladly recommend friends here and will be happily coming back for my next eye exam. read more
