A technician performed retinal imaging and a vision test and told me there were no changes from my previous visit, when I had been examined by a reputable retina specialist who no longer works at this practice. I was not examined by the physician, Dr. Benjamin, who was on site that day. Afterward, I obtained my medical record and found multiple diagnoses that are incorrect and would require an eye examination to diagnose. The chart also documented symptoms and conditions that I did not have. What alarmed me most was that I was provided with a tear duct scan that did not belong to me. The scan was timestamped after I had already left the office, and the patient's name appeared to be handwritten rather than printed by the imaging system. This raised serious concerns for me about the practice's recordkeeping, patient privacy, and the accuracy of my own medical record. The practice also refuses to produce the native imaging with patient PII embedded in the images.

Dr. Gaur and her support team are amazing,... everyone I encountered listened to my concerns and questions attentively: they explained procedures and next steps clearly, both verbally and in writing. and they make you feel like a VIP. The many initial tests were reassuring as was Cesar, who also gave helpful tips and tricks during the post-op as well. Sharron rescheduled my surgeries in a timely manner after I caught a cold and couldn't do my original cataract surgeries. On the day of my right eye cataract surgery, check in was made easy thanks to Astrid. Ivy installed the IV needle on the first try (my veins roll)..and asked me if I would like some calming medicine (zanax) and anti nausea med (Zofran)...yes please.....Jean the anesthesiologist was exceedingly kind and explained how she would be monitoring me throughout and keeping me safe, she was exceptional and reassuring, and I was able to respond to Dr. Gaur' questions during the cataract/implant procedure which filled me with awe....it was beautiful...like seeing asteroids and colorful nebulae...Dr. Gaur explained what she was about to do, what I would be "seeing" ...she kept me informed throught which i appreciated...it was a remarkable experience and I was glad I was awake for it. The OR nurse and the post operation nurse were great, they made sure I had juice water coffee right afterwards....I was hungry and thirsty, so I asked for all of what they offered. It helped to revive me enough so I could get dressed and be wheeled to the lobby where my ride awaited. Your ride is kept informed of your progress on an electronic board in the comfortable waiting room (with electrical outlets and usb ports nearby)...it all went seamlessly. I now actually look forward to my left eye surgery, as my right eye vision is wow...three days post surgery and things are sharper brighter clearer...I'm so happy about the results in my right eye. Thank you Dr Gaur. Some cons....during my first consult it was an hour and a half wait to see the doctor. The first scheduler didn't respond to my many emails and phone calls that went unanswered only later to find out my initial scheduler had left the job. I had been thinking about getting my eye nevus removed for years, and I finally decided to go…read morethrough with it. I had a dark spot on my left eye that I had for several years, but after college, and especially after moving to LA, I noticed it getting bigger and darker. Eventually other people started noticing it too, and I could see it in pictures and headshots. I know that I look fine, but the eye nevus was truly becoming a distraction, and I just didn't want to keep having it. It took me about five years to finally make the decision because, at the end of the day, it is eye surgery. I finally felt ready mentally, emotionally, and financially, and I got it done at Assil Eye Institute in December, right before Christmas. The staff was overall really nice and reassuring. The doctors were great, although you can tell when they are busy. They give you numbing drops and then freezing drops to numb the eye even more, and they have equipment to keep your eye open and still during the procedure. Dr. Assil removed the nevus, and the eye does look red at first. It took about three to four weeks to really see the healing and for the eye to start clearing. I did still notice some melanin where the nevus had been removed, so I went back for a second procedure to do a touch up and had to go through the healing process again. It is looking better and better, and every now and then I still use eye drops to keep my eye comfortable and clear. The difference is honestly a complete 180 from what my eye looked like before. It is surreal looking in the mirror and seeing a clear eye again. I actually have another nevus on my other eye that I may eventually have removed too, so clearly I am happy with the decision.
