Dr. Silani started treating me for dry eye on May 20, 2025 with Opti-Plus & Opti-Light. I had upper/lower blephoplasty on May 15, 2024 and experienced dry eye that worsened over time. I was using eye ointments at night for almost 4 months & about 20-30 drops of lubricant tears daily. My dependence on eye drops was not immediate after the treatments, but diminished use after about 3 weeks and by 6 weeks post-treatment I was down to 5-7 drops per day! This is a huge improvement;) today - July 10 is my 2nd treatment with both light/plus & im looking forward to even more reduced need for drops! The Worst Medical Experience I've Ever Had I visited Dr. Silani for dry eye treatment, and it turned out to be the worst medical experience of my life -- both physically and financially. The front desk staff was unfriendly from the beginning. After my consultation, Dr. Silani recommended several treatments and said the receptionist would explain the details. Instead, she immediately pressured me into signing a treatment contract without any proper explanation. Her attitude was aggressive and manipulative, telling me, "If you don't do this today, the doctor is very popular and you'll have to wait two months to see him again." The pressure was intense, and it felt like I had no choice but to proceed. I told them clearly that English is not my first language and that I needed help understanding the contract. I asked questions, but she didn't explain anything -- just told me to check all the boxes and said, "You're good." It was obvious that their priority was to get my signature, not my informed consent. Before signing, Dr. Silani even claimed he was "the best doctor in the country," adding to the overall sales-driven atmosphere. The entire experience felt more like a business transaction than a medical consultation. I'm convinced their priority is profit, not patient care. Despite repeatedly telling Dr. Silani that I have very sensitive skin and light sensitivity, he assured me the treatments were safe. I underwent IPL and three other procedures -- and immediately suffered a severe skin reaction. A dermatologist later diagnosed me with cutaneous lupus, a condition that can be triggered by IPL. To make matters worse, when I tried to file an insurance claim, I found out Dr. Silani had told the insurance company the treatments were not medically necessary and were for cosmetic purposes. This was completely false -- I sought treatment for a medical condition. Because of this, I was left with a $1,700 bill that insurance wouldn't cover, despite having excellent coverage and an HRA. It's been four months, and my skin condition has still not recovered. This has severely impacted my quality of life. I strongly urge anyone considering this clinic to think twice. There is a strong sales agenda here, and they clearly value profit over patients' safety, comfort, and wellbeing. read more

I waited a couple of months to post a review because getting my eyes back on track has been a process. Fortunately, Dr. Silani and everyone in his office have been partners in my treatment plan - and, no exaggeration, they've given me my quality of life back. I had visited 3 other ophthalmologists for chronic styes and was prescribed steroids each time. None of the doctors could advise me about the root cause, and that created a lot of anxiety for me. Was it an allergic reaction to something? An infection? Since the issue was intermittent, I never knew it would flare up on a trip or prevent me from fully participating in life events on the horizon. Upon my first visit, I felt like Dr. Silani really listened. He described and then executed a plan that involved Lid Hygiene (inexpensive), Drops (inexpensive), Eye Supplements (inexpensive), Night-therapy Ointment (inexpensive) + 3 office-based treatments: BlephEx, iLux, and IPL. These treatments aren't cheap, but Dr. Silani performs the services himself, and they're time-consuming. None of the other doctors I visited even suggested or had these tools. My eyes would have continued to deteriorate if I hadn't started working with Dr. Silani and his staff. I'm truly grateful and would recommend his office to anyone committed to finding a long-term solution for their eye discomfort. They are supposed to be Medicare providers. after advising them about the procedure I needed done the quoted me $260.00. I called MedI are and asked them if it was covered . They emphatically told me YES. The office then agreed to bill Medicare but I had to pay them upfront. Be careful I believe all the want is your money and lots of it. My employer was having some trouble with his eyes and needed contacts. He was having trouble getting an appointment with his former eye doctor. Dr. Silani was not only able to give him an appointment the same week, but did a thorough comprehensive eye exam. He was able to figure out what was irritating his eyes and recommend a treatment. He took the time to listen to my employer and did not rush him. Dr. Silani gave him different options on prescriptions and some trial contacts to test out before he decided on the best one for him. My employer had a great experience and will be returning to Beverly Hills Optometry for all his eye care needs. Ashley is also extremely helpful. She was able to answer all of my questions regarding insurance/pricing and was great with follow-up questions as well. I highly recommend Beverly Hills Optometry. I highly recommend Dr Silani and Bevely Hills Advanced Dry Eye Center. My partner suffers from Dry eye disease and has been to several Eye doctors and they all sent her away telling her its just the weather and to take OTC eyedrops. We thought this would just be another one of those trips, but out of desperation, we took the drive to Beverly Hills for one last attempt. It was the best decision we ever made and the initial consult was worth every penny. Dr. Silani took two hours with her explaining everything and showing us videos pictures and everything. It was very thorough and she finally had a diagnosis and validation of the source of her pain. She has done optilight, blephex and Rinsada so far. We are on treatment two and she has already seen improvement and relief. The dr takes his time, he is kind and funny, he makes you feel comfortable. We were a little intimidated by other reviews about pricing and pressure and that couldn't be further from the truth. We have never felt pressured to pay anything, quite the opposite. They have pay as you go options which works with our budget, you do not need to do all treatments at once, and they dont pressure you to do anything you dont want to or recommend the most expensive over the ones they actually think will work best. The amount she spends on otc eye drops every month is now going towards a real solution. What was recommended first was actually the most economical. Dr Silani has the most cutting edge technology for this disease. You will be amazed at what you learn about the eyes and the videos you see when he performs his amazing abilities on you. These are your eyes and we wouldnt trust anyone else to go near them. He gives so many options to actually treat the issue and not mask it. Pro: Proactive policies around covid. All staff wearing masks and limited entry on an appointment basis. Con: I was early for my appointment but was left waiting for thirty minutes and still hadn't seen the doctor. Con: Was told on arrival they charge $50 out of pocket for "fitting training" for first time contact users. The fee goes up to $150 if your lenses are astigmatic. When pressed on why they charge for this training I was only told to not be concerned because it was a "one time fee". Mind you most competing offices will not charge extra for this. Also the prices aren't listed on their website or any of the documentation they ask you to sign which just says you're responsible for "all fitting fees". Con: I was also given a document listing all the "upgraded" services they'd like to perform. At least on this document they explicitly list the costs. The document asks for a signature but doesn't specify what signing signifies. Am I acknowledging the existence of the services or accepting them as a part of my treatment? The document is unclear. Con: As you'd expect from the name, you're also questioned about how dry your eyes are (spoiler alert - we live in a desert so yes your eyes are dry) So they can start pushing treatment for your "Dry Eye Disease". At the end of the day, the two cons made the whole thing smelled off to me so I walked out without service. I'll try looking for a personal referral next time to avoid being pressured into services outside the scope of my insurance. read more

A truly break through experiencence for my eyelids! Before my visit I didn't even know what "dry eyes" meant. In fact, I thought I had excessively wet eyes, because of how much they watered at night. I found out that it was the opposite situation, and that my eyes were watering because so many of my tear ducts were plugged. Dr. Silani suggested some treatments, which I elected to do. After undergoing treatment with Dr. Silani and staff for about 2 years, I feel like it's an appropriate time to write about my experience. From the minute I stepped into the office, I felt a huge wave of relief, knowing that my issues with dry eye were both seen and heard. Visits with my previous ophthalmologist felt extremely transactional; a simple diagnosis was made and various prescription drops thrown at me. I showed little to no improvement. However, at Dr. Silani's office, various in-depth tests were done to understand the health of my cornea, glands, and the overall dryness level of my eyes. I learned over the years from Dr. Silani that treatment of dry eye is a multi-step approach which involves not only prescription drops, but treatment devices that help to attack dryness at different angles. After 2 years, I can confidently say that my eyes have improved so much due to the effective and consistent treatment that Dr. Silani has provided. I've tried a bunch of things, but what has seemed to help the most has been IPL, meibomian gland expression, gland probing, eyelid hygiene, and lifestyle changes. I owe it to Dr. Silani's expertise in getting my dry eye under control and ultimately changing my life. What I appreciate the most is his passion for his job and his patients. In a small office in Beverly HIlls sits a large amount of the most advanced cutting edge eye equipment and the most wonderful Ophthalmologist : Dr. Silani! I have been going there for 3 years to control my dry eyes among other issues. Dr. Silani caught a torn retina and cataracts and sent me to the best surgeons. Often our sessions run over not because he is slow but because we are discussing the latest restaurants to go to. The entire staff is so nice. Usually when you get new glasses you never know if you're getting the right prescription measurements. I recommend this place because they are meticulous with your exam prescription. You have to know the precise distance between the eyes but more importantly you have to know how you like to wear your glasses on your nose bridge. Why? Because it makes a big difference. You could get a neck ache over time if the power part of the lenses aren't situated in the right spot. This place takes good enough time to get those right measurements! By the way, that's why getting lenses online could be a problem because though you get the measurement for it between your eyes, you don't get a chance to put the frames on and show them how far up or down do you like to wear them on your nose, so take warning, folks. read more

Had an amazing eye exam earlier this week. It's hard to comprehend the value of the treatment you get here until you actually do it. It's completely different from any other eye exams I've ever experienced. I would compare to getting spa treatment for your eyes. Dr. Silani has the most advanced technology I've seen, and the dry eye treatment is one of a kind. Excellent service from start to finish! I came in today for a small issue, truth be told it had been a while since I've had a check up. Dr. Silani and Dr. Younany took the time to explain each step of the consultation thoroughly and gave me detailed explanation of my diagnosis/treatment. They were both very patient with all of my questions. My experience at Beverly Hills Optometrist was far superior to any optometrist I'd gone to in the past. They are cautious when it comes to covid too. You are greeted at the entrance and asked a series of screening questions, your temperature is taken, and once your hands are sanitized you are given your paperwork... the office is a safe and clean environment. A very good man, but a great doctor. I had an eye infection and went to another optometrist who prescribed me drops to remove the irritation but didn't treat the underlining cause. He also gave me a prescription for glaucoma... because I showed signs even though I have no family history of it... for those of you who don't know what that is, its the equivalent of somebody telling you your genitals may stop working in a few years if you don't take this medication (something like that). After 2 weeks the drops ran out (not the glaucoma) and the irritation came back. Being skeptical and fearing of going blind at an early age, I got a second opinion. Dr. Kambiz ran me through a few tests and gave me a very basic breakdown of what was going on with my eyes and why their was a lack of evidence to assume I had glaucoma. He then treated the underling cause of my 'irritation' by giving me drops and other little remedies for home treatment. The visits for treatment I had there were always pleasant and welcoming which encompassed idle chit chat and little humor to top it off. Great recipe way to make cookies. read more

They will scare you into paying for unnecessary "tests" even though it is not necessary just so they can profit from it. Their contacts are overly priced and they even charge to "teach" you how to put in contacts even though its just a youtube video that you can look up at home. I came in to see him today I just have to say I loved my experience. Everything was good from the set up of the appt to the testing with staff to the Doc himself. I've been to all manner of eye docs trying to resolve my issues with my eye discomfort all the docs mentioned I had dry eyes but said "just uses drops" wtf Finally figured out on my own I had dry eyes because the symptoms responded to home treatments. Then I came in and got tested today I do have dry eyes but finally we have a possibility of treatment of the root cause not just the symptoms themselves. The practitioners were very kind, however I was sold on dry eye services to include scraping out my glands that I didn't and I paid over a grand out of pocket even with good insurance. They also said I'd need a second treatment, which would have been another grand and it scared me. When I saw another eye doctor/surgeon he laughed and said I didn't have dry eye at all and at least not that severe. He was confused about the procedures that had been performed and recommended, which explains why they weren't covered by insurance in the first place. They also convinced me to buy eye drops, eye vitamins, and an eye compress - all much cheaper online and not necessary at all come to find out. I feel taken advantage of as a woman who came in alone and honestly disappointed in myself for not just leaving. I asked for my measurements so I could order my glasses online during the pandemic and they refused after I paid a significant amount of money and said I'd have to go to a store for that. Which leads to to the fact that they also clearly have a pact with the eyeglass spot across the alley who "seem to know" when you're coming... I saw them signaling to each other. The man even followed me to the parking lot out of desperation when I decided to leave due to none of the staff wearing masks during the height of covid. read more

One pro: Dr. Younany was really sweet and attentive. However, the office cares far more about money and attention than they do about healthcare, and they have ZERO customer service skills. Case in point: - I ordered contact lenses through the office and asked them to price-match an offer I found online, which they did. I received a charge on my credit card for the full amount and emailed to ask if they billed my insurance. No response. After following up twice, they finally responded that they don't bill insurance if you receive a discount. Why did nobody tell me this? They see my insurance on file... plus how does It make any sense, if they get paid the same whether it's from me or my insurance company (as confirmed by my insurance rep)? No one apologized once or expressed any empathy about it in the slightest. Because they refused to resubmit it to my insurance, my only option was to submit it myself as an out-of-network claim (even though they're in-network), and I'll receive $50 less in reimbursements. - To add insult to injury, my contact lenses arrived with the wrong prescription. Like, so wrong that can't see out of one eye at all. How in the world does that happen?! I also did not receive a single apology from anyone I spoke to about it, let alone did they try to do anything to make up for it. Just a matter-of-fact, "OK, please text us a photo of the box," as if this happens regularly or something. And then they asked me to physically bring the wrong boxes back to their office (I said I'd ship them instead). But either way, it's tacky; why do I have to take time out of my day for their mistake? - The day I was at the office, I noticed my prescription was written to expire in one year. I asked if they could extend it to two years as allowed by California law, since I have no eye health issues. The receptionist asked the doctor for me, then came back with JUST the eyeglasses prescription edited to 2 years. Of course, the contacts prescription was left at 1 year (they make too much money on contacts exams & lenses... shocking). Oh and they also convinced me to buy drops and spray -- and tack an additional scan onto my exam. - At the bottom of their email signature is a list of about a dozen media links where Dr. Silani is quoted or appeared on TV. I also now see that they post all their "Hollywood star" patient photos on Yelp. Based on my experience, all of this just makes me feel like there's more emphasis on making a name for yourself than on taking care of patients. - Because I'm on a roll here... I also despise their robotic automated answering system. Would it be so hard to have a human answer the phone or at least do the recording? Again, just furthers the perception that care and humanity don't live here. I hope the staff can learn from my experience and perceptions listed above -- but unfortunately, I will not be returning read more

Always an amazing experience with Drs Y and Silani! Dr Y will perform my annual eye exams while Dr S takes care of my dry eye treatments. The biologic eye drop, Regen, is small but so effective. My doctor was very sweet however I thought the woman checking me in was a little rude and not very friendly. I came in for a scheduled eye infection and had to wait 40 minutes past my scheduled time. This seems like forever when you can't see and you're in severe pain. I kept asking the check in woman when I would be able to see the doctor and she said just wait it should be a minute and it was 40. Then I saw the doctor and he said that he wanted to see me again in 2 days and the woman said ok I will see you at 3:30 on Wednesday and I said I can't do 3:30 and she said well that's all I have so I haven't been back. read more

I truly appreciate Dr. Silani and I can't thank him enough for truly saving my eyes from eternal redness and a sea of useless drops. My eyes were constantly painful, red, irritated, gooey, crusty, itchy, gritty and tired. I'd been going in circles with my previous eye doc who kept prescribing different (expensive) eye drops to help soothe what he diagnosed as "just eye allergies". I've had seasonal allergies, but never so bad to affect my eyesight before. I stopped wearing any eye makeup, foundation and moisturizers near my eyes because every product (including hypoallergenic & sensitive skin specific brands) made them start watering, turn red and burn for days after. I always felt like I had something stuck in my eye and my eyelashes became brittle and started falling out. I'd been in constant pain and equally frustrated thinking this was all part of living with some unknown eye allergy. Dr. Silani told me that I have ocular rosacea and have only been aware of the painful side effects of that condition- recurring blepharitis, pain & red swollen eyes. Dr. Silani took the time to listen to my concerns and was very thoughtful and detailed in his responses. He only ran tests appropriate to my condition and explained the purpose and outcome of each exam he administered. He also walked me through treatment options, explaining what to expect as far as time and cost for each. I trust and appreciate his thorough and progressive approach to dry eye care.
