My husband and I actually booked back to back appointments. I haven't been to the eye doctor since I was in 5th grade, mainly because I claim to have perfect vision, but after not being able to see (especially while driving) my family banded against me and made me go (insert mad face). And I'll admit, i was mainly not going because I thought it was because I was getting older and/or possibly because I am scared to death of that eye puff machine. Basically I'm Rachel off friends in the episode "The One With Joey's Big Break" and also where Rachel goes to the eye doctor, gets some drops and everyone has to hold her down to put them in, yeah that's actually based on my life story. ANYWAY -- the doc tells me the eye puff machine is old skool and that technology is no longer in use. Now they use these super high tech camera things and it's not *as* scary. After the camera screenings etc. the eye exam was where I seriously almost lost my shit. Dr. Guappone 1) looks like Bill Nye. 2) IS THE SMARTEST MOST ARTICULATE MAN ON EARTH (well at least in the eye doc world). He didn't give me some BS medical terms. He actually broke down what was wrong in terms I could understand and even demonstrated on a model, and as a visual learner I was super appreciative of this! Also as others have said, he is very thorough. When I started off my saying I was a perfectionist, he went on to say he was too - and hence the through exam to make sure that the exam matched up to the camera readings. I just could not believe the amount of time he took to explain both to me and my husband about our situations, preventative health, and plan moving forward. It was a breath of fresh air and seriously eliminated (well almost) my fear of going to the doctor. I cannot reccomend him enough! The only negative and -1 star. I felt like the glasses selection was a bit outdated. They had some trendy designers, but not nearly enough or in the styles I wanted. Although the young man helping me was funny and enthusiastic I was put off by how insistent he was when trying to get me to purchase glasses through them. I literally just learned I needed glasses, if I have to wear them on my face every day - I want and need to find the ones I actually like! And again, as a perfectionist do some reserach first. Albeit super friendly, would lay off the sales pitch. Overall cannot reccomend this place enough and I will certainly be back for my ongoing check-ups!

They explained how we got here, their process, and that the solution going forward is to pay for another appointment and buy more contacts. I told them that I had low trust and my PoV. The location was a bit busy for a Sunday, but I was greeted quickly and didn't mind my short wait. Hailey, the associate who helped me, was awesome! Not only did she get my glasses quickly, once she found out I wasn't using insurance, she inquired if I had AAA. Having this membership qualified me for a very nice discount that I was not anticipating. Because of this unexpected discount, I also purchased some designer sunglasses. I truly appreciate her efforts to save me some money, she went above and beyond and did not have to do that. I will send more customers her way!!!

But, oh, how the tables turned. The technician assisting me in obtaining my new glasses appears somewhat puzzled after checking their cabinets for my new specs. "Are you sure you aren't picking up your wife's glasses?" she asked. Remembering that my wife does not, and has never, worn glasses, I reply, "No." For the next ten minutes, I am repeatedly asked this question as the technician made not fewer than a half dozen trips to the cabinet. "Are you sure you got a text?" she asks, with growing irritation that I will not just take the glasses. "Pretty sure," I say, showing her my phone. Finally, she relents and admits they do not have the glasses after looking at the purchase order, and the cabinet, two more times. She then uncovers a receipt for my prescription from the delivery company. Nevertheless, I am then told that I am mistaken and that the text does not actually mean that my glasses have arrived. "Pray, tell," I enquire, "how that may be?" Changing strategies, she then informs me that they estimate 7-10 days for delivery and, because it is only day 5, she has no obligation to have my glasses for me. Her irritation with me is now palpable, and her colleagues appear uncomfortable. Deciding that my time was better spent not talking to this lady, I relent and mumble something about coming back in a few days. But wait! From the corner of my ear, I hear another frazzled customer who had just walked in. She informs the receptionist that the glasses she received were not hers! From there, the confusion abated: they had given her my glasses. I received my eyewear and left. Had I not been gas-lit and lied to, this would be a 4-star review. Had I received an apology of any sort, this would be a 3-star review. Instead, I received sullen glares from someone who was none too happy with the resolution. 2-stars.

The visit to Dr. Adam Nusgart was horrible…read more I went there specifically for my annual contact lens update. When I made the appointment, I made that very clear. And, it took 6 weeks to get in. When I explained that I didn't have enough contacts lenses to last that long, that I would be forced to re-use my daily contact lenses, the person doing the scheduling said that he would put me in so that I would be notified if there was a cancellation. I asked if I could get some samples to tide me over in case the cancellation didn't happen. He said no. Okay, so I waited the 6 weeks. I was not notified of any cancellations and so I did re-use my daily wear contacts. For weeks. When I finally went in for my appointment, I first saw the tech who ran me through the usual basic exams. Then she dilated my eyes. But then I saw Dr. Adam Nusgart. He said that he couldn't fit me for contacts. The reasons were all over the place. First it was because my eyes had already been dilated and that he can't fit me for contacts when my eyes are dilated. Then he claimed that's not his area, that contact lenses need to be fitted by the other person in the office and that I would have to make an appointment. I pushed back. He left the room only to return with a 5-pack sample of contacts - not my prescription, BTW - and gave them to me in a way that was like he was handing me something illegal. 'Put them in your purse so no one sees...' He then sent me back out to the receptionist to make another appointment with the other person on the office who would fit me with contacts. BTW, the 'other person' only works 2 days a week. So how much more would I have to wait? It was then that I blew up. After an angry confrontation, they agreed that if I didn't like the sample Nusgart had given me - I guess they were in on the secret sample contact deal at that point - I would be able to get a prescription for contacts using my previous years' adjustment. So all that and I didn't even get my prescription updated. The next day, when I called to order my contacts, no one answered the phone. I left 3 messages over the course of many hours. No one ever returned my phone call. I finally called the Montgomery and was able to place the order there. Don't go to this place. Their level of incompetence, disorganization and disinterest has no place in healthcare or in any place that involves dealing with people.

Well, I found my inspiration at York Vision. First, their inventory is VAST. I don't know if I have seen such a selection in my life. Brands i've never heard of, styles I've never seen. This place honestly has it all. The sales associate (forgive me sir, I have forgotten your name) was super respectful, gave us space, shared information when necessary, and proved to have a wealth of knowledge over the materials. He also helped us with payment information and ways to seek reimbursement from insurance. I was on a time crunch, leaving the state in 14 days, and was concerned I wouldn't revive the glasses in time. The associate offered to ship the glasses to me if they did not arrive before my departure, but was pretty confident that they would arrive on time. Since I wear glasses 90% of the time, I needed glasses I really liked and that I could get ASAP. I thought I had found these at Eyemart Express when I located a pair of Guess glasses that closely resembled my prior pair. I purchased them and provided my prescription, and within an hour, I was on my way with my new glasses. Although I liked how they looked, something was definitely "off." Although my prescription had not changed, the glasses gave me headaches. I thought it was because their fit was a bit off and were pinching the cartilage behind my ears. After having them adjusted a couple times, it became apparent the problem was that the bridge of nose being too narrow. The great thing about Eyemart is their 30 day guarantee. So I went back and tried to find a different pair. I spent probably an hour and a half to two hours trying on nearly every pair of glasses in their store. Sarah was super helpful and tried to help me find glasses, with no success. Obviously, I'm too picky. But every pair that I liked were too narrow and the pairs that fit, I hated. I gave up and left. I ended up buying a pairing of frames elsewhere and returning to Eyemart to return the glasses. In order to process the return, you have to go to the same location you originally purchased at and the store manager must be present, FYI. I had no problems. The one thing that lost them a star for me was customer service. Don't get me wrong, everyone was very helpful and friendly... but I was in their store at least 6 times over the course of 4 weeks and despite the fact that I interacted with the same people every time, they never seemed to remember me and I would have to explain myself from the beginning every time. Regardless, there is something about getting a pair of glasses same-day for an affordable price. I wouldn't rule out coming back here when I need my next pair of glasses.

The eye doctor is a really cool person and fun to talk to. She gives honest advice about if you really need to update your glasses or not. At the front counter, Katy, is the nicest person and works hard to apply your insurance and any discounts to get you a deal. I walked out with a new, free pair of glasses thanks to her diligence. If you need an eye exam, this is a great option.

Our Dr was very complete and offered an experience we haven't experienced since relocating 6 years ago to Ohio. As a result, the entire family will be coming here. I really appreciate the 1:1 contact education for my teenager who will be a new user to contacts. The instruction was delivered with encouragement, patience and understanding. Thank you! The office is very clean. The parking is across the street behind the bar/restaurant. Be careful crossing the street as there are lots of crazy drivers.
