So I frequent this salon to get my eyebrows threaded. Always an amazing job. I usually go on my…read morelunch break and it's never too busy. Today (Thursday July 17th at 1pm) I'm not sure what was happening but there was an extensive line. The threading artist was obviously practicing first come first served which Im used to. However the issue today was me getting pushed behind all of these customers who came in the shop AFTER me. Me being the only African American in there. Not saying it's a race thing, but let your brain paint whatever picture it needs. She then calls another person and I give a look of unsatisfactory and she says "you'll be next." Obviously I'm upset waiting there for 45 minutes already, and on my lunch break. I had to leave not only to get back to work but to keep myself from crashing out. I just think it's disrespectful to treat any guest this way but especially one who comes in every month for the last 3 years. Unfortunately that left a horrible taste in my mouth and I will never be back.

She spoke to me in a hostile tone when I held my eyebrows wrong. Then I tried to make polite conversation and she was very rude saying it's racist to ask where she's from (okay?). Finally at the end, I had to pay and she said it was $7 although no where posted do they say it's $7. It's only $2 more but they should really be transparent about their prices. Apparently it's $5 for clean up and $7 for a new threading. It's not breaking the bank but I pointed that out to her and she said "since it's killing toy so much, ok to pay $5". I don't think she needed to speak to me this way or be mean. It was really unnecessary. Sure it a good price but you really need to know how to speak to people. What a nasty interaction. I had a horrible taste in my mouth after.

Everything else is simply disgusting: the peeled old chairs without a headrest, the smell of cheap ammonia based hair products, a bathroom that has no sink and no toilet paper (ever) and grime on the floors that has been there since Bergerline was named an avenue. Ah, forgot to mention that the "owner" is a disgraceful character that matches the look and energy of the space and disrespects both clients and employees. I wish the wonderful technician would move somewhere else!

She finally decided that she wanted to help me and do my eyebrows. A simple "hello how may I help you ?" would have served the purpose of customer service but instead of doing that she kept talking to her coworker even though she saw me walk in where I was I got seven stairs from the other people doing eyebrows and it made me feel very odd and uncomfortable . When she finally did my eyebrows I felt obligated to tip her because that's what people do even though I feel like she didn't deserve it.

The woman who fixed my brows and threaded them into shape did such an amazing job despite the fact that my brows were botched and overgrown due to a prior threader who took off too much hair last time. Mystique 2 is definitely the best threading service in Hoboken- I went to Dreamz last time and the lady there chops your brow and then says you need to tint your eyebrows to cover the gaps. Go to the professionals at Mystique and have them shape your brows to look fabulous!

Two, be prepared for drastic short cut at the hairstylist's mercy when you say "layer." They are too short to make anything. No ponytail, no arrangement to hide the problems. Too steep cut. You cannot change anything. I meant to trim the bang for an appropriate length. Now it's 1.5 inches above the eyebrows and you cannot really do anything without the strongest gel. In total, I paid over $80 with a surprise at the cashier. Had I been happy if it's $35? No! Never. I do not live in 70s where mushroom cuts were everywhere anymore. She said, "A new woman." Nightmare. The only thing I could do was just to be polite. She cut everything short without ever asking if it was ok. I said shoulder length. Most my hair is 3-5 inches above the shoulder except for tiny strands. Now how long will it take to get back? Everything was too late. Even if I had complained, I could not get back my hair on the floor. Go to a decent hair salon where stylist asks you before she cuts your hair drastically honestly showing the price at $70. I hate seeing myself in mirror. I hate touching my hair, thinking how long it took me to get back to the shoulder length after the cancer treatment. This is NOT me!!!

I was watching a movie at the…read moreAMC in the Newport Centre mall and I happened to come across this place when I was wandering the mall afterwards. I hadn't done my eyebrows in ages and the place was empty so thought I'd take a chance. There was only one lady in there and she wasn't very talkative but she did a great job on my brows--I asked her to clean them up and shape but not make them too thin and that's exactly what she did. I was really admiring my brows after! I thought it was funny that the place looked so fancy with chandeliers etc but the price was pretty reasonable.
