Came here for the first time to get my eyebrows threaded. I saw that they do eyebrows for $5. When I came in, they took me right away but the woman who did my eyebrows was extremely nasty. She spoke to me in a hostile tone when I held my eyebrows wrong. Then I tried to make polite conversation and she was very rude saying it's racist to ask where she's from (okay?). Finally at the end, I had to pay and she said it was $7 although no where posted do they say it's $7. It's only $2 more but they should really be transparent about their prices. Apparently it's $5 for clean up and $7 for a new threading. It's not breaking the bank but I pointed that out to her and she said "since it's killing toy so much, ok to pay $5". I don't think she needed to speak to me this way or be mean. It was really unnecessary. Sure it a good price but you really need to know how to speak to people. What a nasty interaction. There is only one reason I go to this filth pit to get my threading: the wonderful technician that works magic in my brows (forgot her name, but not her amazing work!). Everything else is simply disgusting: the peeled old chairs without a headrest, the smell of cheap ammonia based hair products, a bathroom that has no sink and no toilet paper (ever) and grime on the floors that has been there since Bergerline was named an avenue. Ah, forgot to mention that the "owner" is a disgraceful character that matches the look and energy of the space and disrespects both clients and employees. I wish I can give it 0 stars I used to always go to this place but recently I went and my eye brows are uneven they aren't even the same shape and one looks thinner than the other. My eyebrows really do look like they are worth 5 dollars. The lady let me walk out like this and said nothing, this is so embarrassing please save your money and save yourself from embarrassment. Yay!!!! I found my new eyebrow threading expert in my area. I have been going to the same eyebrow lady since 2012 in Bayonne New Jersey. Shout out to Preety's salon! But after moving to Edgewater, I was desperate to find a new eyebrow place that was closer to our home. After a few faulty tries with other places, I came across city eyebrows and Purvi's rave reviews! I gave her a shot last weekend and I left so satisfied! Yes, She has a quick hand, and can finish the threading quicker than others, but that doesn't mean the quality goes down at all. I am very pleased with my eyebrows. If I could give this place 0 stars I probably would. I called ahead of time to confirm they had availability and that their pricing was the same as their pricing on their door. The individual on the phone confirmed. However, once I get there - she ignores me when I tell her my skin is sensitive. She proceeds to add $5 to my first service and I side eyed it but let it go, knowing I had 2 more services to ask for. When she did my underarms and full legs she used the same 1 strip for everything to the point that she had a huge thick layer of wax. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING was coming off my body but yet she would go over the same place over and over and pull extremely hard. I've had Brazilians regularly but the crap job she did on these two body parts made them so much more painful. She then proceeded to say to me "if you know so much why don't you do it yourself at home. You keep acting like you work here. Who works here, do I or do you" in Hindi AFTER she asked me if I spoke Hindi as well. She called two other people into the room while I was on the table to have them come back her up while I'm sitting on the table and they proceed to raise their voices at me even as I'm saying you need to lower your volume and don't talk to me like that. With 22 years of threading experience under her belt, Purvi was able to reshape my brows to the perfect straight square brow I had pre-Covid and was basically painless with no tears. Was in and out in under 10mins. Got my lip and forhead done around my eyebrows. Thank god. I'm in a hurry and the usual place I go to was closed today. My eyes always tear and the lady worked as fast as possible to get it over with. I checked my lip, all clean, no complaints. She snagged my bangs a couple times but she had me hold it back and then we were all good to go. I prefer when they don't try and keep you longer or up sell you. It's a cultural thing she had the thread in her mouth and was speaking to the fellow threaders but that stuff doesn't bother me. I know the drill lol I'd come back. This review is for the main lady/manager who did my threading. I felt absolutely rushed, she didn't care about what I had to say, and literally said she didn't care. I get threading every two weeks so I know the job she did was only half of what it's supposed to be. She only took out the eyebrow hair that was obviously outside the line but nothing beyond that, no shaping, nothing. She completed my eyebrow and upper lip threading within a minute and it was the laziest job I have ever paid for. I had to go to another salon to get it done. And she always seems to be in a bad mood. How she treats some of her own employees is shocking too. I'd rather pay more to go to a place where thet actually do the job and respect customers. read more

Update ... purvi did a great time the first time .... I just walked out in so much pain... it was 10 minutes to closing time .. she destroyed my eyebrows ... they both look completely different!!!!!!! One is arched and the other a straight line! Like no!!!! And she was in a rush so it was super painful!!!! I am so annoyed!!! If you're in a rush then don't take a walk in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would understand!! But I walked in and asked!!! If she was closing I would've walked out!! But now for a month I will have ugly eyebrows and a for 72 hours sensitive eyebrows and lip!! So mad!! She offered to fix it but for what! I have been here twice. The first time was for a hair cut and it was very good. The place was clean and the staff was courteous. However, the second visit did not go beyond a phone call because the lady I spoke to had an issue with me asking questions about their services. According to her, Indians are always like that - asking again and again. I can understand that people can get frustrated towards the end of the day and maybe the lady was having a bad day but it went overboard with her hanging up on me. I was shocked and called back (which in hindsight was a mistake). She was still pissed. When I pointed out that it was rude and unnecessary, I just got a " then don't come here" and she hung up on me AGAIN! It could be a one-off incident but when I am about to spend $100 or more on something, I am going to ask questions and the last thing I expect is rude, disrespectful behaviour. My dignity matters to me more than my facial hair. So, I am going to stay away from City Eyebrows. read more

I've been going here on and off for years, today I walked in and directly told her that I had let my eyebrows grow out for 4 months and I just wanted her (the owner) to clean my eye brows up just on the bottom. I sit and tell her again. Once she starts, she directly goes and does the top although I had just told her twice to not touch the top. She stops and goes to the outskirts of my eyebrows and I tell her again stop not there. I told her as I sat there that I didn't want her to touch the top arch because I like the hairs there. She goes on to do the bottom and is threading away and I stopped her and said not that much I just want you to clean it not shape it. She does the same to the other side. I got up and took a look at what she did. She destroyed my square arch I had, thinned the top of my eye brows and now it's a circular arch. I am so upset and disgusted. She's usually rude which I guess was fine but today she knew she did a horrible job and I feel it was on purpose because she doesn't want to hear what the customer wants. Instead she wants to do the opposite of what you ask. I do not recommend anyone going here unless you get your eyebrow threaded with anyone but her. I received redness, swelling and cuts from Purvi's employee today. The results from a full face threading session. My face felt irritated before I left but I'm sensitive so I left and waited to feel better. When I saw myself half hour later in a brightly lite mirror I was devastated to see my face were this woman cut me up! I went back and showed them. The woman that did this to me actually laughed and I asked, "how is this funny? because it's not her face!" I demanded a refund and Purvi denied it to me. She said, "service isn't free." I replied, "these cuts and swelling aren't free? Thanks!" I'm NEVER going back! I've been there plenty of times before and Purvi knows me. I've always reminded them that I am sensitive and to go gentle. This piece of crap lady did not care. Bottom line, Purvi has proven this is a poorly managed business with under-experienced and a totally disrespectful staff person on board. Ps I love my threading lady in NYC at Unique Threading because I've NEVER left looking or feeling like THIS!!! I'm never slumming it in Jersey again at any of Purvi's three locations!!! read more
