She explained there was some confusion because my practitioner had also gone on an unplanned extended leave. Which could account for some of my experience, but not quite all of it. Anyway, they took fantastic care of me after that. We finally did the tiny corrective procedure I needed and the doc was not shy about scheduling as many follow ups as remotely necessary. I even canceled the last one since everything was fine. I've been happy with the results since. Should have amended this a while ago. Bottom line: I'm glad I did it, but I can't give full marks because of my particular extended experience that probably isn't common.

One of the reasons we'd moved back east was that we'd thought if anyone could help him the person would be here, where many of the best specialists in the country are located. He saw Dr. Bozorg several times, and she spent extensive time with him, both in evaluating him and in discussing his symptoms, whether he felt he'd improved since the last time she'd seen him, and any number of other topics that might give insight into his condition. After doing these many evaluations, she suggested that what was going on might be outside the scope of her expertise, and she suggested my husband be seen by a specialist at MERSI, whom she knew of because she'd attended a discussion by one of their specialists. BINGO!! The best and most influential referral we'd gotten, all thanks to Dr. Bozorg's care and her having, basically, continued her education. My husband, through MERSI, finally received a definitive diagnosis of having a rare eye disease, Occular Cicatricial Pemphigoid, and is receiving treatment that is helping to restore the sight in his one eye that was not blinded by optical neuritis. Had it not been for Dr. Bozorg, her care and her observational qualities and, ultimately, her referral, it is entirely possible that my husband would be blind by now. Five-plus stars!

Dr. Walters at Maine Eye Center has been my doctor for many years and he's a wonderful doctor…read more Unfortunately, I just called Maine Eye Center to schedule my annual visit (they couldn't schedule it when I was checking out last year), and they told me the soonest I can be seen is next May - that's 10 months from now!! My glasses and contact prescriptions need to be updated as everything is blurry and all they can do is put me on a wait list!? I asked what would happen if I had a medical problem and they told me I would likely be told to go to Quick Care or the emergency room. WTH?!!!!! This review is not a reflection of Dr. Walters but a reflection of the corporation he's working for. If I could give negative stars I would, but since I can't, 1 star will have to do. So disappointed in the Maine Eye Center after all these years.

After some convincing they begrudgingly agreed. They did my two kids, but when they got to me, I noticed they held the PD machine at a strange angle and the measurement came back much different than my previous PD. I asked if they were sure they did it right and they responded with a very curt 'I know how to do my job' I got a more recent eye exam at a different place and they confirmed my PD measurement never changed and that the people at Casco Bay had botched the measurement purposely because I wasn't buying their glasses.

Then, Gina Namin pleasantly & patiently dealt with me while I tried on 25 different pairs for frames. She made sure they were just the right one & fit perfectly. Fast forward 6 months and I went back for a pair of prescription sunglasses. I needed a new style. Nick Howe was a huge help and pickled out a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses I would have never tried on myself. He was so good - my wife even loved the ones he picked out!. I just picked them up and Gina again made sure they fit perfectly. The best customer service I've received in a very long time.

Now that I'm confident nothing will be done about it by Portland PD, DHHS, or the State medical board, Dr. Berman is a dangerous, miserable physician who shook my child's head in frustration. He ASSAULTED her. Dr. Berman then repeatedly called me from his personal cell phone after the incident, nearly ten times over the course of the weekend, when I had simply called to speak with a practice manager about my concern before filing reports with the above parties. He would only let it ring twice and not to voicemail, which is harassment. I say all of this as caution to other parents, and from someone who works in this broken medical system - this man should not work with children any longer and you need to ADVOCATE FOR YOUR CHILDREN who do not understand right from wrong unless you teach them. This was wrong and I refuse to be silenced by people who don't think "the juice is worth the squeeze" to pursue this further legally. If he may still continue to practice, then I will continue to share our story.

This place infuriates me…read more The last two/three times I've gone to them, had my contact exam, and ordered contacts, I've been very low on contacts and let them know this. I also haven't had a car. So, I pay an additional $9 on top of the crazy contact cost to have them shipped to me. Every single time they've told me to expect them to get to me in 4-5 business days. And every single time, it's two weeks later, I'm out of contacts, and I don't have them yet. The first time I called asking, they said whoops, they've been sitting here for a week and a half. They finally shipped them and I got them a couple days later. This time, it's been 15 days. I called at day 13 asking what was up. They put me on hold, then straight up lied to me and said they were out for delivery and would be there in a few hours. Two days later and they're nowhere to be found. No updates. I'm paying $9 for shipping and the contacts sit there for weeks until you literally call them and ask what's up. Now I'm out of contacts, and very frustrated. I know this is basic, but what the f***? These are my eyes! And these contacts cost an arm and a leg!!!! Do better plz. Sorry

Deceitful billing practices, unfriendly doctors, BAD and inaccurate medical advice, etc. My first problem was their doctors contradicting each other about a major problem. One recommended surgery the other recommended I "wait and see." Well which one is it?! They wouldn't discuss with each other to see why they had such radically differing opinions. The most recent problem I had was a bogus $100 "contact fitting" charge. All the doctor did was reorder my same lenses. She didn't actually fit them or even discuss the lenses with me. Now I'm having problems with the fit of my contacts and have no recourse without wasting even more money with them. Avoid this practice at all cost! They are deceptive and don't care about their patients' health.

Honestly the more often I am seen here the more I love it…read more I recently was suffering from a bronchial flu. Like a hideous combo of bronchitis and the flu. I had been in bed for two days and was due back at work but knew I couldn't make it thru an hour of it so I drove to the hospital. It's early afternoon on a Thursday and they had a 3 hour wait in the ER. Well I was absolutely too sick to sit in a waiting room for 3 hours- and that's just to get to step one. So I got back in my car and called Maine Med family practice and found out that they do have urgent care so I could be seen that day at a designated time just by a different doctor- but one with my records on hand. So much better . Seriously unless it's 3am and I'm in an accident I would ALWAYS prefer to just use my urgent care!! So today I had my physical. I received 3 vaccinations and was totally happy to realize the importance of having a regular doctor at a decent hospital. Going over the paperwork they gave me while there I realized that in the last few months they had amassed my entire medical history. I lived seeing shots I received in 1988. I don't have to remember that my Tetanus was due this year. They reminded me. Maybe it cuz I'm from a big city in California but insurance for me there always meant ER visits or clinic visits. Never this personalized care. They called me to set up the appt for my yearly physical. I didn't have to remember. Gotta love that. One less thing on the calendar to set reminders for.
