It was a clear Tuesday afternoon, when we drove 45 minutes to this chain eye doctor in Monroe. Our regular eyecarecenter in Concord was booked through June. This place had a friendly eye care associate, Abraham and terrific Doctor Ryan Wurkis, who is originally from Concord. Dr. Wurkis had the best way of explaining terminology in layman's terms as well as a friendly disposition that could probably make anyone feel welcomed. Happily, we were seen right on time. Waiting was kept to a minimum. The staff had every COVID-19 safety precaution in place, but the single unisex restroom was in dire need of a cleaning. Though we are taking our prescriptions to an online fulfillment site, this visit was painless, dare I say pleasant, even. Worth the trip! read more

Dr. Ryan Wurkis is great. He moved from the Concord location. The call center is much better customer service than the customer service at this Monroe location. The staff is not very friendly. It's apparent their is a riff in the office or they just would rather be somewhere else. When the great customer service was mentioned the office noses got bent out of shape. Like I said Dr. Wurkis is great. I had a issue with one eye. He gave me some drops. Later I got the same problem with my other eye. I called the office and explained my issue. Was told Dr. Wurkis was out that day and the following week. The person I spoke to said they would check and give me a call in the next couple of hours. I know they have other drs. That could have prescribed the meds in Dr. Wurkis's absence. I never got a call back and it's the weekend now and got no relief. Great drs never stay in an environment like this for long. I give 2 stars because the Dr was great. They loose 3 stars because the staff sucks. read more

You would think, after being contacted three times to hear the entire story multiple times in an effort to improve their office staff, something positive would have resulted but the horror story continues. Not only was the office staff rude but to prove the incompetence of the office staff.... I was sent an additional bill for my son's appointment. I already commented in the office that something didn't add up right. He gets free frames and one free upgrade. All I normally owe for is the copay office visit. Normally no more than $50, but his was $175 which I paid in full. My husbands visit was also higher than normal. After receiving the additional bill for my son of an additional $97 dollars, my husband contacted the number on the bill and even they said something was weird and didn't seem right. The number on the bill isn't the Monroe office, but the Monroe office is who tells that company what to send out. After reviewing the account it showed that the eye care center actually should have sent out a REFUND to us for $97 for my son, NOT A BILL DUE! After hearing this he asked them to check his account because his visit also seemed high. They did and discovered that in fact he too was owed a refund of $50. This place is an absolute joke!!!! If you've been here before, my suggestion is to contact the billing company and ask for a review of your account. The office staff have NO CLUE HOW TO PROCESS THE ACCOUNT and therefore should not be asking for payments. If you are thinking of making an appointment.....DON'T!!!! Fund another eye care center, for your own good! I went in for an appointment to have my eyes examined and they did a very poor job sanitizing the equipment. I became very I'll about a week after wards and I know I caught it there because I had been very busy working (and not around any people) at that time. The associate who measured me for my glasses could not add simple numbers in her head, that was kind of scary. The lenses that I was prescribed are worthless. I took the glasses back and the associate who walked up to me had just wiped her nose on her clothing and didn't wash or use sanitizer on her hands before handling my glasses. I asked them about a refund and the manager told me that was not an option and I had to come back bring the glasses back so the issue could be fixed. I really don't want to because the hygiene and sanitizing of their equipment was so poor that in concerned that I'm going to get sick again. If you value your health I would find another place to lget an eye exam and purchase you glasses! read more

I have need getting my eyes checked here at this location. however, today I was treated diff compare to my other appt. The staff was not friendly only the girls that help me to choose my glasses. This place is the best there is. The building is attractive. The waiting area is very pleasant. The office staff is very helpful, courteous and friendly. The offices are clean and cheerful. The area where you choose your frames is very well organized and clean. The doctors are great. They make you feel important and answer any questions you have. I have seen some of the negative reviews. Negative reviews from negative people. It's a mindset. I've used two other places and this is the best one in Monroe, NC. read more

Dissatisfied with their follow up when purchasing and waiting on glasses. Will not offer tracking or expedited shipping. When I called to follow up with the status of glasses met with rude customer service. During initial visit they try to upsell your exam but do not tell you it will cost extra unless you ask multiple times. Be aware of this. read more

I've been getting my eyes checked at this location for a few years now. The staff is friendly and Dr. Patel & Dr. McFadden do a great job. The building is a little outdated as well as the waiting area but again, the staff make up for that. Usually the wait isn't too long either. It's convenient if you're in the Monroe area. read more

Every time I go here I say I will not go back. I don't know why I keep going. The Doctors are nice but mistakes are always made and the staff just lies. This time they made a mistake on the base curve of my contacts and when I called the girl said the base curve doesn't make any difference! REALLY! Then why do they have it. Then she said the contacts i get don't have the bast curve I ALWAYS get! REALLY! I see it listed where I am ordering the contacts! So she finally checks and indeed THEY made the mistake but just wouldn't own it. The administrative staff at this location are incompetent. Because of a billing error to my insurance that they made, it has taken me months with my insurance to fix the error and get reimbursed fully for my glasses. If Monroe Eye Care Center's Staff would have been more competent at their jobs, they would have billed my visit correctly and I wouldn't have had any of these issues. I did enjoy my visit with the doctor, but the headache that their staff has caused me for the past several months will force me to never go back for another visit. I wouldn't recommend them for the simple reason that it could end up being very expensive for you out of pocket if they mess up your bill as well. read more
