Time wasted, money wasted, and glasses made that will be thrown away, JUST so Eyed LA can try and keep their business. Criminal. I don't know how they keep their status as in network insurance providers. Maybe this is new, maybe they've come under some financial stress lately, maybe it's a sign of an upcoming financial downturn. Either way, DON'T GO HERE! To sum it up: If you get your eye exam here they will lie and bully you to try and force you to buy their frames/glasses/lenses. Eyed LA frame selection is limited and extremely pricey, so after my eye exam I wanted to shop for glasses elsewhere. Eyed LA told me, that they can't guarantee the prescription will work if filled anywhere else. UM WUT?!!! Lol They flat out REFUSED to give me my prescription. This is designed to try and keep me in the store, but a prescription is a bunch of numbers, it's math basically. And all I needed was reading glasses, that's all I wanted, not difficult. Easy. For reading. So anyways, I left and found glasses at another store, but when they called to get the prescription, Eyed LA gave them the WRONG INFORMATION!!! Maybe they were hoping I'd just give up and go back to them to fill it correctly?! What a SCAM! Avoid this place and you'll save yourself the headache, who knows what other kind of crap they're trying to pull on people. ALSO!!!! They have over 200 reviews and they ARE NOT only five star! YELP FAIL! So they pay money to Yelp removing all their one star reviews for a better score so they can lure their the next sucker in the door. Here are some ideas(free of charge): Offer better service and a bigger selection of frames and you won't have to pay for better reviews. Who knew an eye appointment could be fun?! So grateful to find Dr. Gonzalez! She not only is she a thorough and competent physician, she also has a terrific bedside manner and takes time to explain/make sure her patients are fully satisfied. As a nurse I can tell you it is rare to find physicians who check both boxes! From the appointment scheduling to the appointment itself to ordering glasses/contacts, Dr. Gonzales makes everything easy and...fun! She keeps it real and I truly felt her genuine care rather than just feeling like another chart on the desk like many other practices. When I had specific insurance questions, she personally responded via email quickly and was able to answer my questions, not only saving me a call to my insurance but saving me money as well. I also loved her office space. It doesn't feel like a typical medical office...it feels like you're hanging out in someone's chic living room. WOW! I've been coming here for a few years. Not anymore. It was great at first. I even started recommending fellow co-workers to her. Now it's ABSOLUTELY awful! Customer service is in the trash! "Attitude" from staff isn't appreciated. Would you like to speak to your eye doctor for clarification on your prescription? Perhaps on your 3rd attempt calling, you might be lucky. In the meantime the not so friendly and un-informed staff will be happy to cop an attitude and tell you to call back. Is this how you value a customer/ patient paying for services on their health and well being? No, thank you! Please take your hard earned money, energy, loyalty, and business elsewhere. Dr. Gonzalez is fantastic, awesomely dressed, and knows eyeballs well. What she doesn't know is that her staff is completely inept and will not own up to mistakes. I saw them two years ago when it was time to upgrade my glasses. I've always been terribly near-sighted, so when tech allowed for super thin lenses, I've always opted for them. I paid about $400 for my new frames and lenses, with the understanding that I'd get the 1.74 high-index lens. I need to note that my prescription didn't change, so I have a good understanding of how thick my lenses should be with the frames. Also, my old pair of glasses were Tom Fords as were the new ones. Other than some minor changes because Luxottica needed an excuse to up charge the hell out of customers, the style's pretty similar. When I got my new glasses, the lenses were soda-bottle thick. Like, the lenses were touching the top of my cheeks. I questioned them at the store, but they kept insisting it was because of the new frames that the lenses HAD to be that thick. I have family in ophthalmology and nearly everyone in my family wears glasses... I know what 1.74 high-index looks and feels like. So I emailed them about it. Requested receipts and documentation that they sent to the lab. Lo and behold, the lab request they sent in said "Trivex" lenses, not the 1.74 high-index lenses I asked for. Trivex maxes out at 1.53. I wrote them an email documenting this, and they responded that because my receipt said it was 1.74 high-index, it's definitely what they gave me. They never answered what they sent to the lab, just that my receipt said high-index, so therefore I must've received the high-index lenses. They allowed me to bring my glasses back to get new lenses. They said it'd take a week to get them back because the lenses would need to be re-cut and mailed and stuff. I dropped them off, and within 24 hours, they said the glasses were ready. Which is crazy because it took them a week to fit the glasses the first time around. If they over-nighted my glasses and put a priority on them, then bravo. If not, then this just feels deceptive. When I got my glasses back, there was literally no change. At all. A year later, I went to a different optometrist for glasses because once bitten, always scared. Got new glasses and new lenses, and they are SUPER DUPER thin and awesome. As in, the lenses don't stick out so far from the frame that it can touch my cheek-thin. Maybe because this was a different brand, or maybe it's because I got what I paid for. Sure, I can accept that different frames could mean that some lenses might be slightly thicker. What I can't accept is the obvious disparity between what I've always had since the advent of 1.74 with every other pair of glasses (various shapes and sizes) and the one offered by Eyed LA. read more

I've been coming here since I moved back to LA in 2014 and even if I moved an hour away I'd still probably come here just because I love Dr. Gonzalez so much! She's the best! She's a damn good doctor and I always love chatting with her during our appointments. She always has the best frames and she and her staff, like the amaaaaazing Donovan, are always looking to help you save money anyway they can. Whether it be recommending a new contact lens brand or helping you figure out how to use your insurance best. Unfortunately I have expensive taste so I always spend way more than I should (like these Tom Ford frames I NEED rn). There's never any pressure to buy glasses from her, but she always carries the best selection and the atmosphere is so modern, clean, and friendly that I always get all my lenses from her anyway. In the span of years I have been coming here, I have changed jobs twice and moved three times. But honestly, I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. It's very comfortable coming here...and almost...fun. I always learn something from the doc as well. I have never had an issue with insurance, shipping contacts to my house, or setting up an appointment. Every interaction I have had so far with Eyed LA has been great. I can't speak to getting glasses made here, but I had some very expensive glasses ordered online with my prescription from Eyed LA and I have had no problems at all with those glasses. I recently moved to Santa Monica and have not been able to find a GOOD optometrist... (That did not try to up sell me and make me spend $500+) Finally after an eye emergency I was forced to go on the VSP website and look for a Doc. I called a few places and after being told they were all FULL and could not see me till who knows when and were RUDE! I call EYEDLA and speak to Mason (total sweetheart) I got an appointment right away and he even called the other RUDE doctor to cancel my appointment for me.. YAY My appointment: I arrive and am taken right in :) literally I was see in under 5. I see the doctor and tell her my eye is RED but no big deal. All I want is a script for glasses and contacts. Ummm she was like NO you have to get that eye seen.. she offers to treat it but due to my insurance she tells me it would be better for me to go to Kaiser. Instead of just taking my $$ and seeing me for a quick buck she spends a good amount of time explain what was wrong with my eye, and is even considerate enough to tell me what I need to tell Kaiser to ensure I get the proper treatment. LOVE HER! She promises to see me in two days and then will give me a proper eye exam. She spent all that time on me and did not charge me a dime. I can say without a doubt she really cares about her patients. Two days later: I go for my appointment and duhhh I arrive an hour early. Opps! The guy at the front is super nice offers me coffee tea Hershey kisses. Yummy!! don't mind if I do :) He calls her while shes on lunch she says no big deal she will be right in. She cuts her lunch short and by 1:15 I am being seen!! While I waited I find an AWESOME pair of Ray Bans. The guy who helped me was so sweet he took the lenses off of the sunglasses I wanted to try as everyday glasses. Yes sunglasses as glasses... cuz that's how I roll!!! LOL (Pics to come.) Ps. The glasses here are priced below other eye glass boutiques near by for the same thing!. All in all an amazing experience, the doctor is super sweet takes her time and is really cool. Love her hair!! Best optometry experience I have ever had! Support an independent woman owned local business and rid yourself of headaches and eyestrain, all while looking chic AF. 10/10 recommend! Here is why: 1. I was so stressed about going to the optometrist in the Covid era - the safety procedures here were top notch. The optometry studio is appointment only, I was the only patient being seen during my time slot, we both wore masks, all surfaces were sterilized, etc. 2. Amazing optometrist with a holistic view. I've never been asked so many great questions about my general health and lifestyle habits. I think it really helped us identify WHY I was having the issues I was having (migraines, difficulty with vision, etc.) 3. I learned more about my eye health than I have with any other appointment. #themoreyouknow 4. Super cool and fun appointment. I felt like I was talking to a friend that wanted to improve my health vs a random doctor I don't know 5. AMAZING frames selection. If you want some beautiful unique frames - this is the place to go. Such an amazing selection!! 6. Transition lenses y'all!! Look I thought transition lenses were nerdy but they have changed my freaking life. So happy I was convinced to try them, and I got an awesome deal on them as well. 7. Dr. Gonzalez is the best eye doctor I've ever had (and since I've worn glasses since elementary school, I've been to quite a few). She's warm, knowledgeable, puts you right at ease, is full of fun facts, and is generally awesome in a "what if Joan Jett were thirty years younger and had become an optometrist" sort of way. Thankfully, her office accepts my insurance and has an extensive selection of frames. Staff have always been friendly and helpful and have never done any kind of high pressure sales stuff when I've been picking out my frames. As for my glasses themselves, they're cute, high quality, I've been able to pick them up in a timely manner, and I can see. I've always been able to find parking in the building's garage so that's another plus and the office is open into the evening. Also, the office is spotlessly clean, bright, and airy. Really, there's no aspect of this office that I've experienced that isn't thoughtfully conceived and well run. Overall, I'd recommend Eyed LA to anyone who has eyes. read more

This is the ONLY place I go to for my and my family's eye exams. Dr. Maylin is warm, personable, and is seriously one of the best of any kind of doctor I've been to. Enjoy the environment with a cup of coffee from the waiting room Keurig; metered parking is available on Wilshire and on the side streets. My daughter has a very complex prescription and Dr. M was able to figure it out AND prescribe lenses to help improve her vision. She's very thorough and knows her stuff. The only drawback has been the office/support staff. Sometimes over the phone hasn't been the most professional. However, I think they have that worked out as their current office staff is great - very accommodating and professional. Love it here - and we're talking about people poking around your eyes!
