This place is terrible if only the Doctors knew what their front desk people are going to Patients. I ordered lenses from them and back in October. I was trying to call the office for about six weeks trying to find out where my contact lenses are. finally I spoke to someone finally talked to someone and they told me to come to the clifton office I drove from Paramus to Clifton after she stated she would be there until 7pm. I get there rushing and I was waiting in the building from 6:10pm until 6:55pm there was two Spanish ladies that pretended they didn't speak English. i left the following day when I called she stated she was there the whole time waiting to give me my lens I ordered in October. then her solution was to mail me my lenses. I waited another seven or eight days to get the wrong script lenses. This place is a nightmare This place is a nightmare read more

I had a very positive experience getting an evaluation with Robert Ancona, OD at Eyedrop Optique for eye misalignment. He was effective at explaining how Neurolens (contoured prism) lenses work, and showing me how my eyesight gets sharper (or not) with different prisms. Thanks to Dr. Ancona, I can now watch TV and knit without removing my glasses! In fact I'm wearing them right now while writing this review on a phone. I had a terrible experience at another optometrist in San Francisco which cost me a lot of money despite a second try without charge. Two prescriptions and they both gave me terrible headaches. One of my eyes can read up close and the other cannot and the one that can't read up close can see distance but the other eye that can read has poor distance vision. After speaking to a number of other businesses and not finding anyone I felt comfortable with, I decided to come home to Brooklyn and try Eyedrop Optique. Dr. Ancona was immediately warm and welcoming, (the kind of hospitality one finds only in New York City if you know what I mean) and of course I felt comfortable because of his ability to listen and understand the problem. He explained with helpful metaphor why the prescription I had in the glasses were not beneficial, and he gave me a choice of correction because of the differences in prescription in each eye. There were no choices with the other optometrist. Not only did he give me a prescription that doesn't give me headaches, he also had the tint of the lenses matched, which was not typical but something I had spent time perfecting on Affinity Photo. To top off the working prescription, due to COVID, I decided to return to San Francisco sooner before the glasses were ready. I offered paid packaging to have them shipped, but Dr. Ancona insisted he take care of it. They arrived today with a generous supply of satins and some lens cleaning solution. Terrible experience - they just refuse to give me an itemized receipt for my purchase. At the store I was told that I would receive a receipt via email shortly. Never received it. Called them about 7 times over the span of a month, and this guy Nick keeps picking up, promising he'd send it to me, and just never does. If you plan on reimbursing your purchase with your health insurance or FSA I would strongly recommend you don't come here as you run the risk of not being able to submit proof of purchase. Such an odd thing for them to be difficult about, I don't get it. read more

I love love LOVE this place. I've never written a review on yelp but I use it very frequently to see what all you fine people have to say about different businesses and restaurants. So, for me to write a review means that I truly have something good to share with the yelp community. First off, the staff (every single member) is friendly, super competent and a joy to work with. I found a pair of Dita frames that I fell in love with at a boutique on the LES, but they didn't take my insurance. After much internet searching and phone calls, I stumbled upon Eyedrop who carried both Dita frames and took VSP. Since they didn't have the style I wanted in stock, they ordered it and had them shipped from California the same day. I went in the next morning to get my eyes examined so that the lenses could be cut before the frames arrived. Dr. Ancona, Esther and Karen made my eyeglass purchasing so pleasant that I'm happy to make the trek from Manhattan to DUMBO just to work with them. The store is welcoming and their eyeglass/sunglass collection is amazing, carrying everything from Paul Smith, Ray Bans, Dita to Oliver Peoples. Overall, I'd give it 6 stars if it was an option :) read more

If i could give them a 0 i would. Don't get me wrong the staff were very nice. However when I received my glasses I received two pairs no problem. The problem was, I have 2 different prescriptions 1 my normal script the 2nd so strong in my glasses. My fault not to examine them the same day or even the same month because you only get 30 days. whenever I ordered two pair of glasses they were always the same prescription. not here I broke my 1st pair of glasses yesterday and when I went for my spare pair(2nd) they were totally different prescription very strong my eyes were killing me while I was driving. Both pair were bifocals. I cant wear these. Thanks to this company, ive learned never to assume that people take pride in their job anymore and do it correctly. you also might want to know that they're made of plastic. I personally like glass because you can see better with glass. read more

Dr. Arcona was lovely and I would happily see him again. I was less impressed with the front-of-the-office personnel. The older woman (didn't catch her name) tried really hard to sell me new frames, even though that's not what I came in for. Even when I told her that my priority was getting contacts, she still kept pushing frames on me. (I assume she gets a commission for sales?) She eventually dropped it, but it was annoying. Then when she ordered my contacts, only half of the order came in, which the office didn't seem to realize until I arrived to pick them up. She called in the other half of the order, but then no one communicated to me when they arrived. I like Dr. Arcona and will continue to go back and see him, but perhaps the front of the office needs better training/more attention to customer service. read more

I am very near-sighted and also have an extreme astigmatism. Two years ago I started needing to wear glasses on top of my contact lenses so that I could read, which was stupid. I went to two different opticians in the neighborhood hoping they could provide a better contact lens prescription to solve this problem. They both tried prescribing me lenses that gave me good reading vision in one eye and good far-distance vision in the other eye, but this just made me dizzy and blurry. Then I went to see Dr. Ancona at Eyedrop. He prescribed me multifocal lenses and now I can read without reading glasses again. So happy! Plus he is super nice and fun and everyone on his staff is very considerate and caring. This place is the BEST. read more

Luckily, my brown eyes have held up this long, so I haven't had to patronize Eyedrop Optique for regular glasses, but I've gone in with a couple of friends for this purpose, and I've also bought my favorite pair of sunglasses here, and I can't say enough positive things about all of those experiences. The staff is so friendly and so accommodating, I sometime just want to slip in to say hello. I've even gone in to get a screw for a pair of sunglasses that I hadn't purchased there and they took my glasses and replaced the screw free of charge. That's amazing customer service (can it be called that if I was never previously a customer!?). The kindness emanating from this place is outstanding. They'll have my loyalty for as long as I live in this city. read more

I felt very unsafe my entire visit. They did not take temperatures or have me fill out any covid related forms upon my arrival. The saleswoman had her mask under her nose or on her chin the entire time and no one seemed to care. The doctor was nice, but he was wearing one of those cloth "neck gaiter" masks rather than a medical grade one. Those masks have been proven to be ineffective and almost the same risk as not wearing one. It was my first exam here and my first eye exam in over a year and he did not do a comprehensive exam. He checked my eyes and my contacts, but all of the yearly check up elements that I'm used to at an annual eye exam where not there. I not only felt incredibly unsafe the entire time, but I feel as though I did not get a comprehensive exam. I feel like for a doctor's office during covid, this is absolutely unacceptable. read more

Extremely poor customer service + very wrong eyeglass prescription. I've been wearing eyeglasses for 20 years and my experience with Eyedrop Optique is the only negative one out of all these years of getting my eyes checked and wearing eyeglasses / contacts. 1) There are two ladies who work at the front desk, the young one is very polite and helpful (e.g., in selecting a pair eyeglasses, making an optometry appointment, etc.) but the older one comes across as quite rude and deliberately unhelpful. When the optometrist made a mistake on my prescription (see below), she was refusing to gave me an appointment to get the prescription reviewed and instead saying that I just needed to go and get the eyeglasses fitted at Warby Parker, where I bought them. Luckily the younger lady was there, listened to what I was saying, and made sure I got an appointment to get the prescription reviewed (it was indeed wrong). Later, when I got an updated pair of eyeglasses with a correct prescription, I got them fitted at Warby Parker and noticed the next day that they were leaving a mark behind my ear because they were too tight. Since I work closeby to this optical shop, and I got my eyeglass prescription here, I stopped by to see if they could help adjust the frames. The rude older lady refused and told me to go to Warby Parker because she doesn't fix such "cheap frames." I have never in my life been turned away from an optical shop for an eyeglass adjustment, not in any city that I have ever lived in. Her rudeness has turned me off from this shop for sure and I will not be giving them my business again. 2) I saw Dr. Ancona, the optometrist here, for a new eyeglasses prescription. He is very nice, but he also gave me a very incorrect eyeglasses prescription. He checked my eyes and said that it seemed like the prescription on my old eyeglasses was fine, and I agreed that it was working well for me. Then in a last minute change, he gave me an eyeglasses prescription of 1.5 lower than that the old eyeglasses (that we agreed seemed to be working well), to match my significantly lower contact lens prescription. A quick google search by a layperson will tell you that it is normal for an eyeglass prescription to be quite a bit higher than a contact lens prescription when you have a very high prescription. Obviously, when I got the eyeglasses I ordered with Dr. Ancona's prescription, I couldn't see properly. I had to go back and get a new prescription. Fortunately, he was nice about it and re-checked my eyes to provide an updated prescription. However, I've never had a problem like this before and would not go back here for an optometry check-up given how inconvenient the whole thing was (I also had to return the eyeglasses with the incorrect prescription and order new ones). read more

The only reason I tried this place out was because I got a voucher from Amazon Local that supposedly covered an eye exam and $225 towards one pair of glasses for $58. I didn't feel like the exam was as thorough as others I've had. Normally, my eyes would be inspected up close to see if there are any abnormalities, etc. Beyond just getting glasses, I wanted to know the health of my eyes. This didn't happen. Even LensCrafters does this. When it came time to trying on frames, I felt somewhat stifled by the staff who were there to watch my every move, making me feel like I couldn't freely pick out frames for myself to try. I got the impression that they wanted to go home and were waiting on me to hurry up and make a decision. I ended up choosing a pair quickly, which turned out to be a mistake on my second trip to pick it up, as it just didn't suit me after all. I feel like if I had been given more time to fully try on the frames I wanted to try on, I would have picked something more to my liking. Also, this place is very pricey. What seemed like a good discount from Amazon Local was more just a small dent in savings, as my total charges racked up to $439. With the $58 dollars I paid already, that meant I spent $497 for an eye exam that didn't feel was thorough and glasses that I am unhappy with because I was rushed into making a decision. I would NEVER go back again. I see that others had a better experience here, but for me, I have to rate it in comparison to my other eye exams, and this one was the worst. read more

I took my glasses there to be put back into shape and the woman working there broke them with her hands. The repair needed the little pliers but she tried to bend them by hand and they snapped. I'm in love with the glasses I got from here, which is a lot for me to say since I've ALWAYS hated the way I looked in EVERY pair of glasses I've ever owned. However, the glasses would have been ridiculously expensive without my living social deal (I paid $58 towards an eye exam and $225 to spend toward frames). I thought it would be a REALLY great deal walking into the store, but then they got me with these other charges which was quite disappointing while pulling out my credit card. However, the woman working there saw that I was hesitant about the price and offered to lower it by $25, which was quite nice. So I ended up leaving with a pair of Steve H. glasses for $258 (including the living social price), which would really have been either equal to or less than what I would have paid anywhere else - and for probably cheaper and uglier frames. Additionally, the woman and the optometrist were both very friendly - definitely a plus. The woman offered very helpful suggestions about which frames suited my face and gave her honest opinion, leading me to now love my glasses. The optometrist was very patient with me even though I'm extremely indecisive and really can't tell between such closely resembling degrees of prescription. Also, he actually diagnosed me with mild astigmatism, which none of my past optometrists ever caught. He also engaged me in small talk which was quite friendly. It took 5 days for my glasses to be ready with my prescribed lenses after my eye exam and choosing a pair of frames. Overall, a good experience and I would return, but only with a livingsocial/groupon/amazon/whatever else deal in case I decide to ever replace my glasses. Which right now, looks unlikely since I'm in love with my frames and will probably literally try to wear these forever. read more

Great service, expensive glasses! Dr. Ancona did a wonderful job. Besides being very friendly, he discovered that the prescription I had (which had been prescribed by more than one doctor) was too strong. When I was incredulous that my eyes were getting better, he took the time to show me the difference between what he was prescribing and what had been prescribed - and he was right! He also diagnosed me with dry eyes and wrote me a prescription. NO other doctors have discovered that, and he did on a first visit! I am very grateful. The downside to this place is that the glasses are VERY expensive. Most frames (before lenses) seemed to be in the $400 - $500. Add these to lenses, which run from $100 - $300, and you've got yourself a very expensive pair of glasses. Even though I had a deal for $225 towards glasses, the pair I liked would've still ended up costing me an additional $450. They were beautiful, but $450 was way too much for me to spend. In the end, I will go back for the eye exams, and find my frames elsewhere. read more

I had a great experience here - I purchased a google offer for $59 towards $225 for new glasses. Although a lot of the frames were way more expensive than I wanted, the lady working there gave me several frames to try on that were in my price range and very cute. Normally I don't like help when shopping, but I'm horrible at picking out glasses, and she was very honest in telling me which ones looked good and which one's didn't which I appreciated. She found a pair that I loved, and I ended up getting new glasses with lenses, an eye exam, and a separate exam for contact lenses for under $300 (not including the 60 I already spent). I felt like it was a great deal and I was happy with the eye exams - I am paranoid about this stuff and I felt like the doc was very thorough. When I first put on my new glasses they gave me a headache, but after a full day of wear they were perfect (I think I was adjusting to a major update in my prescription, because now they feel great) They also gave me new contacts to try out which I ended up liking better than my current ones, so when I re-order I'll be switching to those. I would definitely recommend this place. If you tell the lady there what you're looking for - she will definitely help you. I love my new glasses and am going to order contacts from them. Wouldn't have found such great frames without her help. Also...the doc seemed very up to date on the latest trends in contacts/lasik, etc. and I got some useful information from him. My previous doctor was excellent but definitely more old school. read more

I have been wearing glasses since I was 10 years old. It's rare to get excited about the prospect of an eye exam or having to get new lenses, but I found myself in that rare state at this boutique! With a very knowledgeable staff of friendly and helpful individuals I left not only overjoyed and excited to receive my new frames, but feeling very satisfied with the attention and service I was given. I was pleased to see as I was deciding on frames that not only were there well constructed and well known name brands available, but some frames that were made by companies right in Brooklyn with innovative designs. I also ordered my contacts from them and by discussing the needs of my often strained eyes (as I work in front of a computer most days), I was able to come across a brand with their help that I had previously never used which allowed for much more moisture and comfort. First time going, the doctor was great! Had all new state of the art equipment to tell the health of your eyes without having to do long eye exam. This is a boutique eye glass store with high end glasses which you don't have to get. The exam is well worth the trip since the doctor was very knowledgeable and a true hip guy! I had a great experience here. I originally came to this shop looking for a specific line of glasses, but ended up settling on a different brand. They had many different stylish frames and accepted my insurance. While the frames they carry are on the expensive side, realize that they are charging the going rates for these particular brands. Dr. Anconda gave me a thorough eye exam and Erica helped me select glasses. Eyedrop Optique does their own lenses, which is a big plus for me. I got the sharpest prescription I've had in recent memory and am very happy with the frames I got. Looks like I have a new eye doctor. read more

Dr. Rob Ancona's optometrists office here is really good. They are polite and friendly. I went in for an appointment at 6pm on a Wednesday, and their office hours say they close at 6pm. These are the times that really test if the staff will be pissy with you and try to quickly shoo you out of the door.. or if they are going to treat you like the first patient on Monday morning. Dr. Rob was friendly, helpful, and addressed all my questions with answers that satisfied me but also didn't seem like he was talking down to me. Erica is the lady that works his eyewear floor. She was helpful and gave what seemed like honest advice not driven by the price tag on the glasses. She did a good job in taking my insurance and helping me figure out the final prices after my discounts and insurance. The shop also has some good yelp deals (for only if you dont have insurance) and check in specials. I'll try those out when I head back to pick up my contact lens that I placed with Dr. Ancona. I love Dr. Ancona and the staff here. I've been seeing him for 6 years off and on as I moved back and forth between NYC and LA a couple times. Now that I'm back in NYC for good I went back to Dr. Ancona after making the mistake of trying someone out closer to my office in mid-town and that doc completely botching my Rx and the team having terrible customer service. Make the trip to DUMBO it's 100% worth it for such a knowable doctor. I've gotten glasses, new frames and contacts here and been super happy every time. read more
