Up front disclaimer. I just needed a prescription to order contacts. After finding out my insurance doesn't cover contact lens exam, I had to look elsewhere (eventually find Groupon). It's extra money to get the prescription if you don't buy the glasses, which I was totally expecting and no surprises came up (I've read a ton of negative reviews for vision care and how they trick you with Groupon). Atmosphere: my biggest complaint is that there were packages all over the front room. It did not look professional and made it seemed like they were running a UPS package distribution/receiving business on the side. The waiting area is a hallway, small but adequate. They have water and instant coffee available. The exam rooms on the other hand were clean and well organized (the most important part). Staff: the front desk was always very cordial. I did not feel bad for using a Groupon. The optometrist did try to sell me contacts through them but did not give me push back after I declined. The optometrist was very professional and nice. She seemed passionate about her job. That goes a long way when talking about  health. I work in Healthcare, so I have been on both sides as a provider and patient. I did all about astigmatism since I read someone else's review that they didn't mention it, but she assured me that she checked. Costs: Reasonable considering what everyone else in the area is charging. Overall, I would recommend this place to others and would come again. I can't say much about their glasses though since that was not why I came in. read more

Purchased frames online through their online store - Love4Deals. They shipped me the WRONG FRAMES and have IGNORED numerous messages in an attempt to get them to correct their ERROR. TERRIBLE Customer Service. Caveat Emptor folks... as, based on my experience so far, these people are crooks and don't care whether they send you the correct frames or not. read more

Staff is always friendly and patient and willing to help with follow-ups to make sure my glasses fit well, even months after my exam. Royal Optix was a breath of fresh air. I was tired of the hard sell and places that refuse to give you your eye prescription unless you ask, even though it's required by law. Everyone at Royal Optix was welcoming and knowledgeable. The exam was thorough, and even with my unique situation of needing multifocal contact lenses, which has caused problems elsewhere, they handled it without issue. They gave me trial lenses to test for comfort and were ready to adjust the prescription if needed. Highly recommend. A+! read more

My elderly relative who is almost 90 years young went to the office for new glasses. First appointment went good. Second visit to receive the glasses was scheduled for May 7, 2025. Also the transportation was ordered for the day. My relative came to the office only to see that the office is closed, nobody answers the phone. She spent hours standing by the office. Eventually somebody came. Looks like they forgot that client should come. Shame on you to lure the elderly clients with promised gifts (cheap box of candy!!!) and leave them standing by the closed doors. Those candy do not worth going through such trouble. read more

Do not recommend this place. The reason why I came here was because they had an appointment available earlier than my normal optical place. The doctor who conducted my eye exam was good - no complaints there and was in and out in no time. However customer service and the integrity of this place is questionable. At first they told me I should be expecting my contacts in a week. 2 weeks go by and I had to follow up with them. I asked for an estimated delivery date and they said they will call me next day to give me an update. Never happened - I had to follow up again and the same thing happened. After a month, I finally get a call from the manager who explained there were supply issues with their vendor which can take two months. They did give me a week sample supply for free. However, they should figure a way to be more proactive in notifying their customers of any unusual delays and call back when they say they would. On top of this, after receiving my insurance statements - I only owed them a certain amount but was charged $60 more and I wanted an explanation. They said the contacts actually cost $300 (even though they submitted $240 to my insurance) so I was covering for that. After talking to my relative in this field, turns out that this is not typical practice and they tried to make it seem like they were waiving the amounts owed which I already paid for. read more

Bought a groupon for a contact lens exam from this place and called to make an appointment. Lady seemed nice but she told me if I have astigmatism I would have to pay $50 on top. I asked how do I know if I have it, because I think I might have minor astigmatism (I just wear standard contacts now, not the ones for astigmatism). She said the doctor will say during the exam. I told her that nowhere in the terms of the groupon does it mention an extra "possible" $50 charge and that it's misleading and false advertising. She said that they "didn't have time to update the information" and that she will call the owner and call me back. 4 hours later still no call. Groupon refunded me just now. For the record, the $50 astigmatism charge is with or without groupon, and that whole "not knowing how much you will pay before even getting an exam" is kinda shady read more

They are cheater. They said they take Aetna insurance but we had to pay 75$ for regular yearly eye exam. On top of it they didn't give prescription which was accepted by any eye glasses store. And receptionist Tanya is so unfriendly and doesn't try to help at all. When i called next day why you didn't give prescription to my mom for 75$ they sent prescription with wrong numbers. I scheduled an eye exam in March for an appointment in mid April and they called me before my appointment to reschedule to May 2nd. Today, which was two days before the appointment, they called to see if they could move my 4:45 appointment to 3pm and then hastily said actually to 1pm. I have a job and cannot just take off an entire day of work for a vision appointment that will probably last 30 minutes. Even still I told them I would check with my employer and call back. When I called back I told them I could do the 3pm time and the girl said that there wouldn't be a doctor after 2pm. At this point I realized they do not want my business and the doctor has better things to do than to keep her appointments. I could go anywhere to get my eyes examined, but I chose this office based off of such good reviews. Do yourself a favor, find another business for this service...unless you want to wait three months to be seen and have your appointments cancel. read more

This is one of the best place I went so far! Fist I did some test like eye pressure, pictures back and front of my eyes and so on. The doctor was amazing and very knowledgeable. Untrustworthy business practices, you will likely get ripped off. After getting an eye exam for contact lenses, I did not receive my contact lenses for several weeks and only after I had to call numerous times to get an update on status. Furthermore, upon review of my explanation of benefits, I was told by my insurance company that I was overcharged allowable amounts for the eye exam. When I discussed my concerns with the excess fees charged, they refused to refund the amount overcharged. Reading the other reviews, this seems to be a pattern of overcharging customers, not being upfront about hidden fees and inflated costs. read more

Only $400 with your $200 off Groupon. Such a deal! So I bought a groupon for $29 that included an eye exam and $200 off a pair of glasses. The front desk staff seemed pleasant enough (but, please, don't speak in Russian under your breath around customers; it's just bad form and, well, patently rude). The eye exam was professional, courteous and thorough. Their selection of frames start (at least for men) at around $280 and go up from there. I chose a pair for $280. After pricing out the lenses and some kind of indiscriminate service charge, the bill would have been $340 plus tax. I passed. As I see it, that's about average for a pair of glasses ($300 to $500) at a retail outlet, and I really don't see $200 in savings there. I went home, went on GlassesUSA (whom I've used before) and bought two new pairs, complete, for $110. Even if I decide I don't like them, or they break (although there is insurance for $13/yr.), I can still get six more pairs for the same as I would have paid for one at Royal. I did. however, get a $50 eye exam for $29. read more

Nonetheless when I arrived for my appointment - after making childcare and work arrangements- the reception informed that the doctor was not in today. No one had called me to tell me. Ehhhh. I got glasses there a month and a half ago which I broke. Which was my fault, I broke them. But I brought the broken glasses in, and it was just like "game over" which is an exact quote. I wasn't looking for them to be like "OH MY GOD I'M SO SORRY" but a little bit of empathy goes a long way. If I was open to continuing to do business with them before, and I was, "Game over" means it's game over for me doing business with them. I got my prescription so I won't be needing their services anymore, but it's unfortunate that instead of frequenting a local business, I'm pretty much forced to do business with someone who is not on my block because I can't, in good conscience, do business with a store that doesn't value my business or my dollar. Honestly an amazing and quick experience getting a prescription for contacts and glasses! My contact prescription expired a couple years ago so I went on Groupon to purchase one and stumbled across their deal which wasn't bad for $35. Came in and told them to check if my insurance covers the glasses prescription. Sure enough it did! Dr. Romanna Volosyanko was very thorough with the check up. She explained everything and made sure I understood and made me feel very comfortable. After the checkup, my prescriptions were printed out and they offered me to price match with 1800 Contacts but there was no pressure for me to purchase! I honestly hate when businesses pressure customers to buy. I also visited in June 2020 while the coronavirus is still prevalent and they made sure to sanitize everything in front of me and keep seats 6 feet apart with hand sanitizer available. Went in for an eye exam because my eye was being distractingly twitchy. They were so thorough with everything. There was one person who performed the basic eye exams with the machines and then brought me to the room with the doctor who continued to do a few more exams- both women were so patient with everything and explained it all really well. And the doctor finally found a solution to my eye problems! She gave me different options- I was able to pick glasses out same day and should expect them in a week (I'll update if needed) and best of all- besides the customer service- they take my insurance! Which is always an issue since it's out of state. 10/10 would go again. read more

Only giving 2 stars because their optometrist is knowledgable, thorough and friendly (although the wait time is horrendous). Aside from that, there's nothing but chaos there. I ordered contact lenses with them and was told it would take 3-5 business days for them to arrive. 7-8 days pass, no phone call, so I went in to check if they'd arrived. The person at the desk spent 10 minutes looking though 2 drawers full of customers' orders only not to find mine in there. She took down my number (again, even though it's in their system) and said she'd call me the next day with an update. Nothing, so now after another 2 days, I called and was told that they've only just now ordered the contacts! And all I got was a very rushed "sorry". Unbelievable. If you need to obtain a new prescription, you can go there. But if you need to order anything, forget it - unless you plan on bugging them on the phone and in person every single day, which is what I plan on doing now. read more

Staff is quite nice But waiting an hour and a half to see the eye doctor is a bit of concern. I do not understand why schedule appointments if you still have to wait to seen the eye doctor. My first appointment at this store was in October 2014. The optician was 20 minutes late and knocked his lenses all over the place. I ordered two pairs of glasses. The first I got right away, and I was told that the 2nd pair would take a few more days. Fair enough. I needed the first pair adjusted, and I swear to you, you could not find anyone at this place. Don't believe the hours that are posted on the door - they close 30-60 minutes early each day. The people who answer the phone couldn't care less about you and are unbelievably, unbelievably rude. As far as the 2nd pair, I am STILL, in February of 2015, WAITING FOR THEM. After multiple follow up calls, eventually I had to go back in December to select another pair of frames because the pair I originally selected in October was no longer in stock. When I went in December I was told that the 2nd pair would be delivered the next day. It is now February 6, 2015 and I am being told that I am rude by the front desk clerk. BEWARE. read more

Walked down 3rd ave and 5th ave and came into 3 other optical stores until I walked in to Royal Optix!! =) They offer me both pairs for less then what the other places offered me 1 pair for!! I admit, I chose this place based on my insurance and proximity to home. I'm thrilled with them. I'm used to waiting days for my glasses to be completed. I had two pairs within 45 minutes. The doctor was punctual, friendly and very gentle with me (that eye thing where they put the blue light right on your eyeball freaks me the eff out every time). The staff were friendly and engaging. I was vacillating between two pairs that I liked and eventually settled on one. I mentioned that I'd probably be back for the second one eventually. The owner came out and told me he'd give me $100 off right then. Soooooo...I walked out with two pairs. I love them both! read more

Lenses came on royal optix last Monday ago and today they packing my lenses for send me, after one week. It's incredible. I'm very sad about service. Terrible Optometrist who was actually rude to me and seemed to keep forgetting what he was doing. Took me 3 times to actually get an appt. because the place cancelled on me twice because the doc "could not be in" at the last minute. Very rude treatment from the owner. Only shining spot was 2 young women who work with customers and are very friendly. Went back in to reconsider frames and was completely ignored.....as if they were annoyed that I was there. The way I discovered this beautiful optical was just by browsing around facebook and seeing an ad on the side saying free eye exam. I needed one so I figured why not right? After going there without any insurance they offered me the exam for free if I bought eyeglasses there. This was great cuz my plan was to buy prescription eyeglasses anyway lol.
