Brought my husband in on Thursday for an eye exam and had a great experience. I was pushing Tim in a mobile transport chair (like a slimmed down wheelchair) because he can't walk far without a chair or walker. A handsome young employee rushed to open the door for me, which I really appreciated. The woman at the desk and the optometrist assistant who did tests were friendly and capable. The optometrist, Dr. Underberg, could have easily given Tim the hard sell on new glasses, but left the decision up to him, saying, "Your vision hadn't changed that much in 2 years." He further stated that for an 80-year-old, Tim should feel good about where he is, vision-wise. After all my husband has been through health wise, that was the most uplifting thing any medical professional has said to him in 6 years--he had exceptional therapists at the Fort Myers Rehab Hospital in 2018--and Dr. Underberg's words meant a lot to both us. Finally! A doctor who is not negative nor judgmental nor assumes someone handicapped brought it on himself or is not trying hard enough to get out of the chair. The doctor visit was great and the people helping me to pick out my glasses were awesome. However, it took a long time to get my lenses done and my old sunglasses and when I would call the people I talk to you were very rude. They would put me on hold without even saying anything and then come back on the phone and start going hello hello All I wanted to do was see if lenses were in and the girl that I talked to both times was extremely rude. First day the lens's were falling out so I went in to get them fixed, they said they had to order another pair of lens fine and when they get them they would call me and it would take 30 mins .Fast forward to two weeks later no call nothing so I called them. Elena, my technician, was professional, patient and kind. She helped me select the glasses that best suited my face and was not satisfied until I was completely comfortable with my choice. If I could give her more stars, I would. Another observation that impressed me was that another technocian who was not with a client, went from desk to desk cleaning the mirrors. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. I went in expecting the vibe of a "Budget" eyewear store but instead felt the service was more fitting a high end specialty shop. I wanted to write an additional review from my last one. I was very unhappy with the way things were done when I went to get my two glasses. The gentleman who helped me was very professional and good at what he did he helped me. Obtaining the finished product was the problem. After I wrote a Yelp review and wrote to the company, they asked me to please go back and they would make it right. I got a call from Jeff, the store manager, and he was very professional and very willing to help me. I went back today to get my glasses and there was no problem. they actually gave me a refund because of the problems. The Dr. Did fine and was very friendly and helpful. I went in under the impression that it would be $89 for 2 pair of glasses. I was told to pick out my frames and in the end they wanted $220. I was blown off my feet. I guess they should tell you ahead of time that it really doesn't work that way. Also paid $112 for exam. I just bought my glasses online with my prescription for $80. I broke my only pair of glasses, and needed an exam and to have glasses made. I am newer to Florida, and found myself unsure of where to go for well-made, stylish glasses. I researched aggressively and read all of the reviews on Yelp. I had an excellent experience with the optician I saw (Kari). They technically work for a separate company, but they are inside each of the stores, I was at the Ft. Myers store. I was very pleased with the price (buy one, get one free). Best of all the glasses are the best I've ever had (and I've worn glasses for 51 years)!! I will definitely go back again. I was very pleased with Dr. Underberg. My son wanted glasses as many children do. But I had a hunch he had faked failing his free optometry exam at school. I brought him in for an exam at Eyeglass World. Dr. Underberg quickly realized that my son was faking poor eyesight, pulled me aside, and told me that he did not need glasses. I really appreciate his honesty because he would have benefited if I had purchased glasses there. Instead he told the truth, saving me at least 78 dollars for glasses. The staff at Eyeglass World was also very kind and accommodating and they took extra measures to ensure that everything was sanitized after trying on different pairs of glasses. Eyeglass World in Cape Coral was a terrible experience. Customer service is non existent. When I went in, the optician seemed helpful and pleasant. When I got home and looked at the bill, I noticed that I was charged $25 for eyeglass protection. It was never discussed or mentioned by the optician. I called the next day and I spoke with the optician who had helped me. He said it was mentioned but that was a lie. I was told my glasses would be ready in a week. I waited a week and never got a call. I waited for two weeks to pass and without getting a call, so I decided to call them. I was told the glasses were ready but I was never notified. When I went to pick up the glasses, no one ever sat down with me to make sure the glasses fit me well. I did get my $25 eyeglass protection charge credited back to me. That is the last time I will do business with Eyeglass World. read more

He was extremely helpful and took care of me during the ordering and fitting of my glasses. The local manager was there on the day that I arrived as well ,and she was very nice and helpful... I scheduled an appointment 2+ months ago when I called to make sure they were in my network which they were listed on my Aetna plan..the girl that answered couldn't confirm my ins. I called Aetna and we got on a 3 way call with the girl from Eyeglass world everything was confirmed appointment was booked for today 6/1 when I arrived the person AMANDA at the desk said I wasn't covered he or she not sure tbh I think she didn't have any clue who scheduled the appoint. even though I remembered the name was Amanda which she confirmed it was her name she was totally out to lunch not helpful at ALL she was more concerned with another person waiting that clearly came in way after me.. didn't even try to make an attempt to call ins. claimed she couldn't call so I suggested If I can call after her response back to me "if you want to" with her disgusted face and attitude..I just asked for my paperwork back and walked out. Really great experience! Eyeglass world is one of the few businesses in Florida that takes covid seriously -- they do a temperature check on everyone coming in and everyone wears masks. Came in to get my bent glasses fixed and the optician, Thomas, did a fantastic job and even replaced my nose pads. Didn't charge me a thing and it's like my glasses are brand new. They advertise glass same day, not true. It's been 4 days and my glasses are still not ready. They are NOT special ordered or anything that requires a longer wait time. Only positive experience is the actual optometrist, Dr Underberg. The manager with the beard is also nice and helpful. My wife's last two experiences with the two women on the other side of the store with the eyewear were short and borderline rude to her. We have been coming there for years but out insurance has many choices. We will continue to see Dr Underberg faithfully for our exams and prescriptions but take our money and insurance elsewhere from now on. As a side note we were able to use our insurance they didn't accept at the cape location at the fort Myers location at page field commons a few weeks later. Very odd. read more

I scheduled an appointment to have my husband's eyes checked. Got there on time n filled out the forms. When my husband went to return the forms right from the get go Rose, the receptionist was very rude to him but he sat down n didn't say a wordy her. He gave Rose his insurance card to see if our Medicare plan covered any of the visit. She got all his paperwork and went to the front office and gave it to a girl that was with a patient. About 5 minutes later the girl comes in to explain to my husband that the vision insurance in our plan is not covered with this Optometrist but she's trying to tell us all this in Spanish. My husband questioned her as to why she's coming to explain this to him in Spanish n she said Rose had asked her to do so because he didn't speak English. At no time did my husband said to Rose he didn't speak English. He spoke to her all the time in plain English n when he questioned her as to why she went to get help she said that she didn't noticed he was talking to her in English. She was stereotyping him just because of his surname and that's being racist. We left so upset n would definitely never go back there. In 2 years that we've lived here we had never encountered racism until today. I would not recommend this Optometrist to any one as long as Rose is the receptionist. read more

I went to pick up my glasses. The employee opened case and put the glasses on the counter. I put them on, said I could see and she then told me I was all set. She put the glasses back in their case. I arrived at 2PM today for my scheduled eye exam. This place is a covid super spreader. Their website boasts that they take covid precautions but actually walking into the store proved that to be a fallacy. I stopped into the store to check out the selection and confirm the prices. I'm glad I did. I needed 3 pair total, regular, sunglasses, and computer glasses. Everyone I dealt with was friendly, professional, and highly qualified. I dealt with Elaine, Alex, Sam, and Tom, from the lens/frames selection to picking them up and getting the perfect fit for my new glasses. I walked out of the store with my new glasses not only having saved a lot of money, but seeing better than ever. Purchased a number of glasses and sunglasses in the past with minor issues. Recently went into the store on two different occasions to order both glasses and sunglasses with progressive lenses. After waiting and looking around for 15 minutes while the staff yapped with each other I left. Not one staff member even acknowledged my presence - they were too busy yapping with each other. This happened both times recently, must be their new business model. I guess I'll take my cash elsewhere. read more

Terrible experience! For the eye exam, I opted OUT of having my eyes dilated. Near the end of the exam, the doc put drops in my eyes. I said what's that for. He looked at my chart and then said, I'm sorry. I just dilated you eyes! Next day, when I picked up my two pair of glasses, one was definitely wrong. I put them on and couldn't focus at all. I felt cross-eyed! The other wasn't much better. Way too strong. I went back the next day to pick up the other pair that had to be redone. Really not much better. The Tech examined both under his highly unscientific machine and said I just don't understand. I just took the glasses and left. Totally unhappy with the whole experience. I have two pair of glasses, with two different prescriptions that are both totally too strong. My vote is to stay away from this business. read more
