Dr Bartolini, my ophthamalogist is great. She has done an absolutely thorogh job of diagnosing and my problem and taken appropriate actions to maintain my sight. However, in July 2025 Dr Renee Lynch gave me a prescription. I ordered glasses online from glassesusa. Result: bad right lens. Eyesight optitian verified lens was correct. Rescheduled with Dr Lynch however, appointment not needed because online chat bot implied Dr Lynch put the wrong number in the Axis for right eye and they would give me a new prescription. I got new July '25 prescription with correct Axis for distance. When I asked for the Progressive version of the same prescription they gave me a copy of the prescription that dr Lynch did back in 2024. After communicating with them to get this situation corrected I suspect that their voice mail to chat log system is a cumbersome, impersonal obstacle to good communication. And for the past two days when I press 7 on their answering machine it goes back to the beginning menu. I suspect that the eyesight of the Eyesight CEO needs to be refocused. A simple apology from Dr Lynch would be a good place to start. read more

The cataract surgeon was not pleasant and the result of the quite expensive surgery was not what I expected. It was supposed to correct my astigmatism and it remained not much better than it was before. I also had a vision test at this office and the prescription was way off what my regular eye doctor found both before and after. I will not return. read more

Dr Lynch is amazing. She is thorough and responsive. Explains things clearly and is professional. Kristie who prepared me for my visit with Dr Lynch was also terrific. She is professional, kind and helpful. Kristie has a way of making you feel heard and comfortable. read more

After three visits to finally get my prescription right, or supposedly a correct one, I left the office never convinced the prescription was the correct one. I went one year, often not using my sunglasses at all, always squinting or struggling to focus. They were not the same as my regular glasses. After recently going back to my eye doctor in MA, I was told the lens in my sunglasses was not what was prescribed. I would never have gone back anyway, but after discovering this, it was time to yelp. read more

I've tried numerous times to make this be a good experience and I'm moving my eye care business elsewhere. This place lacks quality care and have attitudes and trying to get anything done is very--VERY cumbersome and there is a severe lack of overall care and respect that we patients are the ones why they even have jobs. I have issue after issue and one time, I finally spoke with an office manage to try to resolve an issue and she gave an attitude so, I guess things trickle down from the top. I recently went to their Portsmouth office for a laser (Yag) treatment only to find out that their machine was inoperable. They actually called the rep for the machine while I was there, and told me we needed to reschedule. Several days later after not receiving a call I called them only to find out that they were not scheduling any Yag procedures until further notice. I was told during the appointment that the machine costs $70,000 and they had it for 9 years so far. What irks me about this is how a large and very widespread practice would have a machine that wasn't working properly, and that they would even hesitate to get another one right away. I have done some research and was assured this machine paid for itself many times over those 9 years, and that they weren't hard to come by. I have been with this practice for about 15 years now, had 2 eye surgeries with them and this was a repair to the original lense implant 6 years ago. I get it that all things break from time to time, but a practice with 3 locations with just one of these machines?? read more

I've been going to this office for more than 15 years and have almost always been satisfied with the services I received from both the office staff and the techs. And I have ALWAYS only had good things to say about the doctors I have been fortunate to have. The first doctor I had was a gem, but sadly passed away unexpectedly at a young age. The doctor I've had since then, Doctor Christopher Turner, OD, is the most personable, yet professional young man you could imagine. I have an appointment tomorrow and am looking forward to it and hoping that Ron F's review is reflective of what continues to be a great place for eye care. Also, they were extraordinarily caring and quick to help my husband with an emergency eye problem following a work injury. Two doctors dropped what they were doing and treated him immediately. I've been going to eye doctor's for the past 10 years for eye contact exams. This was definitely the worst. I saw Dr McLaughlin after waiting in the exam room for quite some time with the door wide open which I thought was weird and sort of made me uncomfortable. I explained to her that I was in need of an updated contact prescription and refill my eye drop prescription. I have GPC that's easily controlled through eye drops. I told her this and I guess she just took my word for it and faxed the script to my pharmacy. That's great but I was super surprised she didn't look at my eyelids, which every doctor does, at every eye exam I have been to. She told me she was going to dilate my eyes literally a second before she put the eye drops in my eyes. That took me by surprise because there was barely any warning. She had an assistant in the room with her. I was never told why the assistant was there or who she was. She got me my updated contact prescription and gave me one contact that they had out back which was great. I immediately could tell that this wasn't the right prescription. I needed something stronger. Luckily I said something and she examined me again and agreed with me. Then she had to call the assistant back because she didn't know how to change the prescription again. The two of them did math on scrap paper trying to figure out the conversion. The doctor laughed and told me that she wasn't very good at this. I could tell throughout the entire appointment that she just wasn't very good at this. By the way, the doctor told me that my right eye had NO change. I told her I was sure it had changed but she assured me there wasn't any so I said ok. And, I also told her I was having trouble driving at night because of the glare of lights. She scoffed that off to be dry contacts at night.... Okay so I finally get out of there and go home with my printed out updated prescription. Then I notice that she did indeed change my right eye prescription to something stronger. Even though she just said it didn't change. I call the office and leave a message with the receptionist. An assistant calls me back and tells me that Dr McLaughlin thought I was asking about my eyeglasses prescription for my right eye, not my contact. The assistant assured me that this was the correct prescription. That seemed awfully sketchy to me. Why would she think I was asking about glasses? And if I was, shouldn't she have explained that the eyeglasses have no change but the contacts DO since that's what the appointment was for? In all this wasn't a good experience and I will not be returning. I am just happy to have an updated prescription and can see again. read more

Just want to express my appreciation about being able to get a quick appointment for a check about my possible retina detachment. Dr. Chace saw me this AM on very short notice. Good news, my right eye was not in process of retina detachment! My other purpose in writing is to commend a very professional "eye tech" (do not know the correct designation) named Colleen Provencher who worked with me before I saw Dr. Chace. Colleen, from my many years in optometric/opthalmic offices, was very sharp, client friendly and "knew her stuff" about all my eye problems. She told me that she has been with this practice about four years, but my take is that she is a valuable member of this staff helping the doctors do their thing. I went to see Dr. Christopher Turner recently for a second opinion on a corneal ulcer. It was extremely painful and I could not tolerate the pain. They identified it as a combination corneal ulcer in conjunction with a corneal erosion. He was just fantastic. I cannot say enough. He also followed up with me the next morning to see how I was feeling...that just doesn't happen with doctors these days. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! read more

I wanted to like this office because they were so convenient. The staff was friendly enough, but the doctor's lack of professionalism was a big problem. Firstly, she kept me waiting for almost an hour past my appointment time. Secondly, she chewed, smacked and snapped her gum all though my appointment. Klaassssy. read more

This was my first visit. I'm not going to give up on this business but I wasn't thrilled with my visit. The office staff was nice but my time with the Dr. felt rushed and very impersonal. The tech didn't introduce herself and the doctor did as an afterthought. No handshake, no eye contact (no pun intended). 5 minutes later I'm handed a pamphlet that could've saved me the $50 copay. Life's too short to feel like you're on a conveyor belt. I'm not looking to make friends at a doctor appointment, but a little human to human contact would be nice. I was treated much better at the coffee shop down the street and it only cost me $6. I'll be thinking twice before I schedule my exam. read more

Had the lenses on my glasses updated and my frames came back messed up as if they had used some sort of varnish or chemical that ended up stripping off parts of the original lacquer. When I questioned the staff about it they assured me that I must have brought the glasses in like that...I think not. I was seriously upset and affirmed several times that that was not the case but I was completely ignored. I really dislike this place and will not be back anytime soon. read more

I had a myriad of eye exams performed which had nothing to do with the reason I came to see the Ophthalmologist. My bill was approximately $500.00 more than it should have been. The exams were not explained to me beforehand and I wasn't given the option to decline. What I was given was a huge bill. read more

This practice has gotten so huge that I was run in circles through their phone system and when I finally worked my way down to the front desk at their Exeter office, no one answered! If this is the way they treat their customers up front, I hate to think what it is now like behind the scenes. I'm going to a smaller practice with high ratings for service. On May 1/2013,I had a pre-op eye exam at the Portsmouth office. My second app. was at the Exeter office, on May 10/2013, and I paid 359.00 , talked to Joanne Decato, who assured us that she could answer any questions. She told me( and my friend) that Medicare plan A, would pay 80% of the hospital bill. kalinka told me that my share of the hospital bill would be 335.00. Later I found out that Medicare would NOT pay because I had to be in the hospital 24 hours, (this was considered "day surgery". The hospital bill (for one (1) eye would be 6,190.00- not including the anesthesilologist! This office is "professional"? If they did not know the CORRECT answers, they should have said so! I could not afford to go any further, and called to cancel any and all further appointments. I called Joanne, and after a lengthly discussion, she informed me that my request for the 359.00 be returned,would be denied , but the 359..would be used to go towards the next appointment. Having been "reeled in like a fish", and losing faith in Eyesight to be honest, I cannot return (ever) to Eyesight. Kalinka tells me that the 359.00 is "compensation" for them. And what "compensation" do I get??? Well- my "compensation is to tell as many people as I can (the internet is a wonderful thing)- about my experience, and save other people the "gut wrenching" knowledge that these people are as crooked, as some contractors, that they are capable of LYING as any other company out to "make the money" at any cost!!! I can NOT afford to lose that money,(it took a long time to save the money for a cataract operation. )What do I do now? I don't know!! I had the necessary money saved to pay Eyesight, ( don't get me wrong) , but not the whole amount to pay the hospital, and anesthesiologist, etc. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU-- DO YOUR HOMEWORK- DON'T TRUST EYESIGHT TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH!!!! I had my appointment at the Exeter, NH office. I was greeted promptly and my personal information updated quickly and pleasantly. The technician did a thorough job taking my information and updating it before the doctor came in. I feel my eye exam was thorough and that Dr. McLaughlin did a thorough job examining my eyes. The optician (didn't get her name) did a great job helping me choose my new glasses. I was taken in to the exam room a little after my appointment time, but there was no long wait involved. All members of the staff were professional, courteous and calm. I was very happy with the whole experience. read more
