STAY AWAY! READ REVIEWS BELOW "RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL STAFF" I am now going to go into detail about the dispute that occurred today at the Eye Appeal Office. There was no space for it on the online form: 1) I left a message over the phone for the Eye Appeal office that I would prefer different nose pads on my glasses so that they would be prepared when I came to see Dr. Chung about my contact lenses. My complaint is not against the doctor; it is against David Thompson, the optician. 2) I was waiting for the doctor, and David Thompson asked for my glasses to change the nose pads. When he had my glasses in his hands he said loudly, "No one has ever asked to have these nose pads changed." I said simply, "Well, that's what I want." I did not yell, swear, or say anything more. 3) David Thompson then raised his voice again and told me not to speak rudely to him. Then, the whole office staff ( which is comprised of his daughter and girlfriend) started yelling at me! I was actually afraid. His girlfriend then chimed in that I had been rude to her also. See whether the reader thinks this is rude: My communication with her involved my being fitted with contact lenses. After Dr. Chung told me to put my contact lenses in, Thompson's girlfriend had me come to her station and told me to look in the mirror with my new glasses on to "see" if they looked okay. With both the contact lenses and glasses in, I couldn't see anything properly! I simply told her that I could not see, but she just wanted to continue, not answering me. I then simply said, "You don't understand what I mean." Again, I did not yell or swear. Apparently, she thought it was rude of me to express my frustration at not being able to see my new glasses with my contact lenses on. Apparently, she, like her boyfriend, David Thompson, has a very low threshold for anyone's opinion or slight criticism. I must add here that the three of them would have continued to be hostile and yell at me if I hadn't diffused the situation. I simply said, "You've made up your mind" and then started to chuckle. They were fortunately totally thrown off by this because, as I've said, they love to fight. I was grateful that my tactic worked. 4) Even before the whole staff starting yelling at me, David Thompson said to me, "I don't want to ever speak to you again." So, what recourse do I have but to file this complaint for my warranty services? If he won't speak to me, how can I receive services? Furthermore, with the temper he (and his girlfriend and daughter) exhibited, I am actually afraid of him and do not want any more dealings with him. Even if he consented to talk with me and supply the warranty promised, if need be, it would be a very uncomfortable and fear-inducing interaction. 5) Furthermore, it must be noted that his whole staff (again, his staff being his girlfriend and daughter) will obviously DENY what I am saying. It is them against me. These people are chomping at the bit to have a fight. 6) I have worn glasses since age 16 and had to visit doctors of optometry, optometrists, and opticians' offices on numerous occasions and never had any experience like this. Their behavior is totally unprofessional and defensive. 7) I have documented the receipt, which includes the $40 warranty on two pairs of glasses (total $80) and also included reviews on Healthgrades that include descriptions by other customers who describe David Thompson's angry and unprofessional behavior: He is "an atrocity and a hot headed loose canon." On more than one occasion, he swore at the customers and called them liars and was "very aggressive and unreasonable." 8) In addition to all this, either his daughter or girlfriend marked the place I look through in my glasses (I wear progressives for near and far vision) so that my ability to see properly is off, and I am looking through the wrong part of the lenses to see. Response to my original review (above) David Thompson responded to my extremely accurate review written in July of 2021. He is trying to make himself look good and reasonable. I have never had such a scary experience in my life. I should have called the police, but if I did, they would deny that they were yelling at me because they are all in cahoots because they are personally related to one another ( David T.; his girlfriend; and his daughter). David T. says he would honor my warranty, but he intimidates and yells at people so that the people he has treated this way would never dare to even enter his workplace. The opthalmologist was very good. If the optical shop was ever affiliated with Davis Vision, they no longer are. The person who wrote that David T. is a "loose canon" is absolutely correct. I met Dave, Tristin, and Dr. Chung, recently as a new patient. When I walked in the door for the first time, I was greeted warmly by all three. Dr. Chung is a smart, pleasant, calm, and very efficient person. I marveled at how thorough he was but that the exam didn't take too long. After the exam, I talked with Tristin and she helped me to select eyeglass frames and to discuss the particulars of my insurance. Tristin cheerfully helped me find the correct frames for the shape of my face. She was super knowledgeable about my insurance, she knew what it would cover, and she was able to communicate that to me clearly. I was so relieved that I wasn't being coerced to buy anything extra or to get more features for my eyeglasses than I could afford. Tristin's intelligence and her upbeat nature, made my visit at Eye Appeal stress free and fun. When I came by Eye Appeal the second time, to pick up my eye glasses and my contact lenses, Dave kindly spent some time explaining to me how my new progressives worked and he made sure that they fit properly. We talked for a bit about the latest in the technology of the eyeglasses that are now available, and how easy it is to wear progressives these days. Dave assured me that as a smaller shop, he and Tristin will be available to me, anytime, if I have any questions about my eyeglasses or if I need anything in the future. He said that if I need the nose pads replaced, or if the lenses ever get a scratch, to just bring them by and he'll take care of it. In summary, the folks at Eye Appeal treated me to a refreshing experience that involved top-notch customer service, all around intelligence, affordability, efficiency, kindness, and good cheer. My husband and I have been using David's shop for close to 20 years. They are always thorough, quick and helpful. I would recommend them to anyone. I tend to make and keep track of all medical appointments in our house. However, my husband is very hard on glasses. A few years ago he made his own appointment with a different eye doctor and purchased glasses that "looked similar" to what we had bought from David. The glasses didn't even make it a year. Eye Appeal has always been good about fixing his glasses. This company just looked at them and said "he'll need new ones. I took them home and bent the nose guard back into place. The little rubber piece was missing but he could wear them. I have now scheduled him an appointment for Eye Appeal as those glasses are now in two pieces and he's due for an eye exam. Don't go to this place! Went here to get my eye exam done. Saw the doctor and he was helpful then they send you over to the desk to order your new glasses. The girl at the desk told me that my prescription changed but not much. She told me that I should get progressive lenses so that I would be able to read better. I told her that I was not worried about the reading part and would wear reading glasses. Told her that I just wanted regular glasses to see like my old ones did. I ordered my lenses and they came in a week later. When I wear them now I can only see distance and can't see over the hood of my truck. She never explained that I would not be able to see to drive with them. She was more concerned with rushing me to look at frames so she could help the other customers. I am not a doctor and didn't know what she was giving me all I was told was that progressive lenses would help with reading. I went back thinking that they would fix them because they don't work and all unless I want to look at trees in the distance but can't see a car in front of me. What I got when I went back was an attitude from the owner saying that I was told what I was buying. Not sure how he knows what she explained to me since he was not there when I was described what progressive was. They don't care about customer satisfaction and are horrible at explaining to a customer what they are buying. I will tell everyone to stay away from this place. Be very weary of this place. I had my eyes examined and the "new" doctor was horrible. He has no personality and messed up my prescription beyond fixing. The owner Dave said that there was nothing they could do for me. He was extremely rude when they realized that they had messed up. He could not even speak with me on the phone after taking my money. He took a lot of time explaining lens features as well working with me to find the perfect frames. Wonderful service with zero pressure. My lenses were delivered to the store the next week, a fact I was alerted to by a very nice voice message left from Mary. I was very disappointed with Eye Appeal. I first visited Eye Appeal in 2014 with no issues and had a pleasant experience. A couple of weeks ago I went back for a routine eye exam. I was horrified to learn during the first few minutes of the exam that Eye Appeal called my pharmacist without my permission ( Not sure how they found out who my pharmacist was) and requested my current medications be sent over so they could review them with me during the exam. Naturally I was a very caught off guard as this is private information I only discuss with my primary care physician (my medications). I have never gone to a doctors office before where they already knew ahead of time what I was taking for medications. Typically they ask you verbally or they have you fill out a form. I said to the doctor (a doctor I had never met before) I really wish that information was not released as I consider it private and this is only an eye exam. The doctor could tell I was uncomfortable and then proceeded to want to talk about my medications which made me even more uncomfortable. I almost left. Apparently some medications affect your vision. That's all well and good but, give the patient the opportunity to tell you what prescriptions they take first, if they even want to share them at all. Don't assume everyone is OK with talking about their medications especially if you have never met the doctor before. I checked with my pharmacist to see if there was a HIPPA violation and there was not. Unfortunately a doctor can call your pharmacist and request your current meds be sent to their office. Just an FYI..if you visit Eye Appeal and you take medications you would like to keep private, make sure you tell Eye Appeal not to call your pharmacist. Since then I have talked with my pharmacist. They have made a note in my chart that no med lists are to be released to any doctors office with out my consent first. You can do that. read more

I've left many reviews on many websites for many businesses as well as managed a business in the number one spot in the hotel category and TripAdvisor for our area and I think this probably must be the most OUT THERE Of all experiences, at the cost of my sight no less. Let me preface with perfect I only have a problem with one person and I would be the owner all the other employees are sort of bystanders at this point. Dave, the owner is a petulant child whatever you do, do not question the actions/ performance of his staff [even if he is not there to witness said interaction] And will immediately get defensive & call you a liar. This happened to me after I posted what I know to be a fair and accurate summat my last experience there. (having been going here for over 20 years on and off) this being said I did not write the Review until I had contacted them w no resolution and I'm not in the habit of ever leaving negative ones unless warranted. After getting the roof response from him on Facebook I had a feeling that when I spoke to them on the phone it wasn't going to get any better so I didn't prepare myself and record the conversation because I needed my prescription for my glasses which my insurance had already paid for and he insisted I had received (but I hadn't) and then proceeds to tell me I cannot receive the frames I was told i was covered for one pair of a lower price tier frame by the optometrist I saw there, Dr Chung (who was a nice Dras a part of my medical plan But that I would also have to pay an additional fee for The contact lens service which I wasn't told in the beginning I had to cover at all. As a reference I outlined what does situation was on Facebook explaining the things that occurred that night & the reason that I still don't have glasses to this day today! seeing as I live an hour away from there and thought being that the new me it would be easier to go there I made a grave mistake in that. I believe they are withholding my contact lens prescription for me as a way to get more money out of me I've been wearing contacts for years I don't need us follow up appointment/fitting if this is the norm I think it's crazy that it's not included in the cost of the initial visit. $90 is not something people with full health insurance have to throw around because contact lenses I don't consider to be cosmetic at all. I plan on reporting the business to the Better Business Bureau in the state because I have never received such a horrifying service and all my life. This is a family owned and run business and they are always willing to accommodate my schedule. I have been denying the fact that I needed glasses, but as age took over pride, I wandered into eye appeal in Seabrook, NH... Just to look.... Dave, later to find out he was the owner, was extremely attentive, suggesting we just do a simple eye exam. Well, OK, seems harmless.... Well as I expected I needed glasses. Dave and by the end of the day every other staff member had assisted me with finding the perfect pair of glasses. Let's just say, I was not the easiest customer to fit, but they were so patient and stuck with me, I was very happy with the final decision .... Dave had said it would take a week to make them, a few days later, Dave called to say my new glasses were ready, ahead of expected delivery. When I came to get them, Dave spent additional time to properly fit them to my head. He then went on to tell me how to take care of my new glasses, great customer service.... OMG, I can now see again !!! I then found out that Eye Appeal is one of the only shops around that can cut lenses for motorcycle glasses... Got fitted for the best riding glasses I have ever had, Oakley!!! They fit perfect and look awesome .... I have recommended every biker I know to Eye Appeal for custom riding glasses.... Every one of them have thanked me for the referral .... Great customer service and great staff... Prices were very competitive... I highly recommend EYE APPEAL for optical service!! read more

A year ago we were very happy. Our family of 4 got either glasses or contact lenses. We loved the eye doctor and we loved the pleasant, amazing people that were very patient with us helping our children pick out their glasses and adjusting them perfectly the first time when they received them. Fast forward to now: The plaza that this business is in has two vacant large stores that moved to another location. This is unfortunate for this business and I am empathetic. I believe that this has led to a down-sizing of staff. The pleasant people who were helping us are gone. Around March we ordered new glasses for our youngest using the same exact frame she had the last time. She has never been able to wear them. They have never fit right and continue to keep sliding down her face AND IT'S THE SAME FRAME!. My husband went back twice - he had to point out that the nose pieces were completely different from the identical first frame (extremely large for a child) so those were replaced and we appreciated that. Glasses still slipped. So he went back the second time. He said that the person that was adjusting the glasses was unpleasant, seemed frustrated and didn't fix them and he didn't want to go back. They continued to slip down her nose. So our youngest has worn her old glasses with old prescription for months. Today I went back for the last and final time. My youngest put the glasses on, the man there said they were fine. We said they weren't and that they kept slipping. Clearly you could see that they slide down her nose. He adjusted, they slipped. He kept telling us she needs to push them up and she did but they don't stay. He seemed quite put out making the adjustment, seemed frustrated and unpleasant and stated "they are fine what do you want me to do?" and clearly wanted to be done with us. I did say "So you are telling me you're not going to fix them". He said "whoa" like I was nasty or confrontational, which I was not. We are not difficult people and not complainers. We just want glasses our child can wear and we don't have that and we do not have the $ to go somewhere else and buy new glasses. I called my vision insurance company. They gave us a special provision that we can get new glasses at no cost but we have to pick different frames AND use the same provider. We will not do this because we can't be assured that we won't have the same problem. Unfortunately my youngest will continue to wear the old glasses until we can get new ones from a different provider.. read more
