They were getting ready to close early due to an appointment but took the time to talk with me. They showed me their fish and shrimp, explained their process and answered all of my questions. All of the fish were clear eyed and had no discernible odor... all good signs of freshly caught fish. I will be back to Galveston next week and plan on stopping at Sampson to get red fish, my favorite fish. I visited another market next door, but the personal attention just wasn't there for me. They were nice, but Sampson's really knocked it put of the park for me by staying, explaining the process, and offering to fillet my fish for me free of charge. Someone who will take the time to show a stranger around, even when they have an appointment, is someone I wish to do business with. Upon my return, I'll take photos and review the fish its self. On customer service and appearance of fish alone, I give Sampson 5 stars.

Shrimp N Stuff goes well with that feeling. We split a 12 count fried shrimp dinner with fries. The shrimp has good breading and nice size. The fries are very good as well and it also comes with some hush puppies that are nice. It's a place that you order and they give you a buzzer and you pick it up when it goes off. The staff is nice and helpful and if you notice from the picture they are definitely going to give you enough tartar and cocktail sauce.

I got the Create A Platter with stuffed shrimp and fried catfish with fries and boiled potatoes. It also comes with three hush puppies. The food is good. The stuffed shrimp was the best. The stuffing was packed with flavor but I could still taste the shrimp. The catfish was fried to a golden crisp and it came out hot! The potatoes were surprisingly good. I wanted the bean relish but my wife nixed that idea. The hush puppies were okay. They were dense and flavorful but just a little too small and crispy for my taste. The fries were limp but they were alright. Overall, I'd go back to Shrimp N Stuff for a quick bite to eat. It's not somewhere to go for a fancy date, maybe the third or fourth date. I'm on thirty years of marriage so it's great for us.
