Claudia came to my home, recommended fabrics that would be sturdier than the old upholstery fabric - AND - she made "cat corners" for my sofa and chair. The "cat corners" are pieces of fabric that she hemmed and attached to the corners of the sofa with some cool kind of push pins. And my cat loves these cat corners. The best part is that I can replace the cat corners easily and my sofa and chairs are not damaged. Oh - and the workmanship is superb...;-) I love this shop. read more

This was our first time getting furniture reupholstered and it was a daunting process, but Claudia was very patient in explaining how it worked and walked us through all the options. Claudia and her father came out shortly after I called for an appointment and gave us a rough timeline of 2 weeks from delivery of the fabric. We had received a couple other quotes and they were not the cheapest but we felt most comfortable in their hands. Pickup and delivery was smooth, but it did end up taking much longer than expected due to backordered fabric (which wasn't their fault) and then mainly just being very short-staffed. Only docked one star due to expectation management and I had to keep chasing for updates -- but like most everyone, they were just very slammed and short handed. However, Claudia and her team tried very hard to make everything right and we were ultimately very pleased with the beautiful craftsmanship by Claudia's father. read more

I can't praise Claudia, her Father and their team enough for the outstanding job they did on our couch. We had an old Ethan Allen couch that we loved but needed major work beyond upholstery. In less than 3 weeks we have a brand new couch and we love it. They pick up and deliver and the quality of the work is unmatched. The couple and daughter who own this shop are good people who do extremely talented work. I initially choose this shop because they were close by and a neighbor recommended them. I didn't except their work to be so outstanding, and I was wonderfully surprised. They reupholstered 6 dining room chairs for me and also added more filling to each seat. The fabric was an unusual stripe combination of purple silk plus a highly textured wheat color fabric. They got the stripes set perfectly and also did an outstanding job with the finished piping around each seat. They've been in the business a long time, and their quality shows! I cannot recommend this place enough! I have no idea what the bad reviews are about, but I had a fantastic experience. They came to my house, gave me an estimate (free) then took my chair to their store and had it recovered in less than a week and delivered it back to me. The chair looks amazing!!! It's not cheap to get furniture reupholstered, so be prepared for that. But if you have a quality piece of furniture, it's still less expensive than having to repurchase. It also has a great custom feel when you get to pick out your fabric out of thousands of patterns and match it to your chair! I had my own fabric (got a steal on it at JoAnne's) so I only paid for labor. Cost was $450 to do the chair, fix any padding, and do two covers for pillows. I thought that was totally worth it and their estimate was right in line with the other shops I tried. I took great photos of the before and after but can't quite figure out how to post them. I'll give it a shot. In the meantime, give them a call! Claudia, the daughter (and person whom you'll deal with) is a pleasure to work with. I was shopping for estimates to have my CA King headboard recovered and tufted, and I had the fabric in hand already to use, so I was just looking the reupholstering cost. My friend who works for a decorator asked an upholsterer they use a lot for a "friends & family price", and got $750! I stopped in one place in SM and was told $700-900 (Centimeter). I started to panic. As I knew I could buy a new one for $500, these prices seemed really high. Not that tufting isn't more labor than no tufting, but it is a simple rectangular headboard. I started shopping by calling and sending emails with a pic of the old headboard (which was a very simple rectangle with buttons) and asking for quote with tufting. I am so glad I shopped! Claudia at Ye Olde answered my email first, and gave me an estimate of $450. Another place came back at $650. A place on Pico well reviewed here came in at $900. (Another place, in Venice, didn't respond until the project was underway, and it was only $400, but I was already in progress.) I took everything in here, to the little shop on Lincoln, and when the Pop looked it over and we talked about what I wanted, he said $475, which I agreed to. It took a week, and I could not be happier with their work. It is OUTSTANDING! More tufting than I even wanted and looks so beautiful!! I cannot even tell you how happy I am with the result. Upholstery is really an art. First, it takes your imagination that something you have can become totally different and better. In this world of cheap imports, I applaud this consciousness. Secondly, it takes creativity to translate what you have in your mind into real colors, patterns, fabrics, tufts or no tufts, etc. Upholstering looks really hard--to me at least--so this is where the craftsman and expert come into play. However, and this is largely my fault for succumbing, I was very rushed and chose a color that does not coordinate well in the room it will "reside"in. I am very disappointed in that, but the work quality is superb. I sent a text thanking them for the work that was not responded to - they may not receive texts on their main number so take that with a "grain of salt". Also, I never contacted them about my disappointment, so perhaps they would have done the work over to my satisfaction. They may be unpleasant to deal with after my honest review, so I don't desire a do over. Just be firm on what you need so you aren't disappointed. read more

My cat repeatedly exhibited some antisocial behavior on these chairs, so much so that we had to replace everything, the foam especially. I had been planning for years to get my outdoor cushions redone. I purchased a beautiful outdoor set years ago, but after years of being outside and being used by renters, the cushions had gotten super stained. I just got them back from Ye Olde Upholstery, and they look better than new! This is a family-owned and run operation, which I love to support. Their work is beautiful and high quality, and they are so nice. Getting anything reupholstered can be expensive as you pay for both labor and material. Rude, rude, rude. I called to inquire about leather upholstery and she said they did offer that service. When I told her that I had a chair with one arm that needed to be repaired of reupholstered she said they couldn't do it. When I asked why they could reupholster things, but not one cushion the woman rudely replied - "Fine, we can do it, but we WON'T." What rude customer service.
