Wife went in there today asking about about repair of some fabric dog toys. Lady at the counter was rude to her and said they don't do that kind of work. My wife then asked if she knew anyone who could sew that might be able to assist her. Instead of a, sorry ma'am, I don't know anyone who could do that, she received a condescending tone of No, take those things out of the store and go away. It is really nice to have a fabric store nearby. They carry a wide range of quilting fabrics along with others too. A good supply of notions as well. Friendly service plus Mr. Cubbage comes to service our machines. Scissor sharpening available by another vendor a couple times a month. read more

I've been wanting to check out this fabric shop. I have not been there since they moved to behind Ralphs grocery store. They have a wonderful selection of beautiful fabric. It's displayed nicely and the place has a really good feel to it. There were many women there that were giving great advice to each other on their beautiful quilting projects. They also had a quilt that you could make a different square for each month. It was beautiful. I arrived at 0900 today. I came with the intention of getting instructions for the Handi Quilter long arm. I got way more than that. The instructor was incredible. Patient and clear instructions. I brought a very large quilt to learn on. I left at 4pm with a completed quilt top that I am absolutely in live with. Incredible sense of accomplishment. Thank you so much to The Fabric Shoppe. Very nice fabric store with beautiful cotton fabric for quilting or other craft projects. The store has a nice feel and is not messy with bolts of fabric laying about. While I was just browsing and did not need specific help, the owner of the store was very friendly and easy to chat with. I look forward to taking a begging quilting class. read more

I guess the quilting biz is bumping because I haven't been treated so dismissively by a local shop in years. I have a standing 1x/week meeting in the area so I thought I would try out the local flavor and give my money to small businesses - which I love doing. I could not have jammed my money in the till at this spot -- I was ignored when I walked in, even though there were two ladies working and only one customer. After perusing their mostly boring array of fabrics, I asked about the 1/2 yard bundles, as I fancy sewing several pillows for 3 rooms in my place. I asked politely, "What do most people do with these 1/2 yard pieces -- sew small pillows?" I actually FELT her eyes roll as she told me this was a "shoppe" for quilters. Even though her sour face told my inner self: flee! flee!, I fleed not! I got excited about quilting because a) I like to try new things and bring lots of girlfriends and business to local shops b) my mom's friends quilt and I have always been fascinated c) I have collected my 6 year old's shirts from birth and dreamed of making a quilt from them and d) I don't need a "d" but I also have a ton of cashmere that I would also like to incorporate into a quilt "some day." Dreams dashed, even though a sign on a door to an additional room clearly stated "BEGINNING Quilting, Thursdays blahblahblah...taught by Susan." This time I approached the counter where the two ladies were perched and said "Do the quilting classes fill up, should I reserve now vs. waiting?" I was literally reaching for my wallet as I asked and the same woman snapped, "Well, yes you have to reserve." I said "Okay, I would like to do so, it says there is one starting on Thurs/blahblahblah." The other woman was friendly and said something perky and engaging like "oh, we already have one person signed up!" and Snappy McSnapper said sarcastically, "Oh, I believe you." She then proceeded to figuratively push me out the door ala verbal negativity to include huffily: "Do you know how to sew???" and admonishing me for "thinking" I could inquire about a baby t-shirt memory quilt- and I quote "I can't have you in my beginners quilting class trying to do something that would be allover the place." Can you, the reader, also imagine my audacity - the nerve of me strolling into a small fabric shoppe on a quiet Friday afternoon hoping to discuss sewing pillows and making a blanket that I would cherish for the rest of my life..... read more

This is one of the best quilting stores ever! The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of fabrics, especially their beautiful batiks. They have lots of notions for sewing and quilting. My favorite thing is that they offer machine quilting services. I have quilted about 10 quilts with them and have been exceptionally pleased with the results. This is a must go to shop for quilters. read more
