Once upon a time I lived in Camarillo and shopped at the Michael's location which used to be on Carmen Drive. After I moved they upscaled their location over to Ventura Blvd. off Las Posas in the big plaza there. They're in between HomeGoods and The Home Depot on the western end of the shopping area. Often when Dear Hubby and I go over to Ventura for the afternoon, I'll plan to stop at this Michael's on the way back home. It's a convenient location with lots of free parking. Over the years, they've stepped up the merchandising layout of the store. I can easily be enticed by the seasonal items they stock, as those seem to get cuter each year. The yarn department can be hit or miss still. Am hoping that they will get one of the newer yarn / fabric departments which are arising out of the purchase of Joann's labels for yarn, especially. Our Sweet Granddaughter influences me to stay interested in crafting, including jewelry making, which she loves. She wants me to teach her how to crochet, which I will gladly do when her hands get a little bigger. She's just turning 6, so it may be a bit too soon and lead to frustration instead of joy. We'll get there, though. Last time I stopped in, most of what I bought was to work on making friendship bracelets with SG. It's helpful to be signed up for Michael's rewards program, as that usually provides extra discounts when it's time to cash out. They run good sales throughout the seasons, so you can usually get a good price on whatever items you're seeking. In my creative shopping Joann's was #1 and Michael's #2. Now that Joann's is gone, Michael's moves into the #1 spot. read more

STORE MANAGER IS A NIGHTMARE!!! AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!!!!!! I was willing to drop $300 dollars for a frame, but after encountering this Store Manager, yikes no thanks! I left a frame back at the store by accident and stupid of me, I did not print out a receipt. Apparently this was enough for the store manager to accuse me of getting free merchandise. I paid for the items, I just left it at your store. I needed to find one of the employees who literally walked my items with me at the cashier to confirmed I did indeed buy it. She did not want to bring confirm with one of her employees I bought the items, she did not want to check her systems, NOTHING! Always get a receipt because this Micheal's will steal from you if you don't! It's sad because there is some genuine good people here who will help you but the manager is god awful. AVOID THIS STORE AT ALL COST! Go to Hobby Lobby or Micheal's in Ventura instead. read more

A bit of a disappointment... It's the holidays so there's a lot more people out shopping and Michael's only had 3 self checkouts with two cashier registers NOT OPEN while the line continues to grow so does lack of patience. I personally do not like coming into a store like this and not being able to have proper customer service. read more

Tried to get balloons for a birthday morning surprise and they wouldn't do it because it was "too close to closing time". Even though it was before closing time. Apparently customer service isn't a thing anymore. read more

I place and online order for pick up. I received a texted message a day later saying my order was picked up. For two days I have been trying to contact an associate to assist me with the matter and no one answers the phone. Ive called over 10 times. All staff are wearing masks and gloves. Came in here to browse and I was disappointed at what a mess the clearance section was. It was completely unshoppable with broken items being sold. The staff was friendly and helpful in helping me locate an item. The line was wild though, so I wouldn't come here if your in a rush. It's Christmas time though so I understand the wait. read more

Horrible experience to get custom framing. The man wouldn't tell me pricing until he fit the frame first on my artwork. I wanted to pick by price first. End result. All 3 frames (not that big) were going to cost $240 AFTER the 70% off discount in today's sale. Had to get my name and phone number before discussing the frames. On top of that he was a grump. Really? Walked in. About 3 employees walking around pushing carts. When I get in line, about 4 people in line. 1 girl moving like a turtle is the only one ringing people up. Nearly 15 minutes later I am still in line, yet never is anyone called up to help. The untrained little child girl isnt aware of her enviremont at all. Few minutes later , I just left. Michaels has always , it seems, that they require their employees to be, a bit slow. Is the pay bad? They always seem to have lazy noncaring employees. Once in a great while a manager shows up , and just maybe things will change. Nope. Michaels is michaels and customer service is always last. Im home now, I wonder if the line has moved. I was given a make it right coupon for 10.00 off my purchase, because I was never given my correct change of almost 13.00 which I realized after I got home and called them right away this was the reason for the coupon, mind you it was about 2 years ago, however the employee told me that it did not have an expiration date. The coupon was signed by Lupe who is still the current manager. I went in today 4-1-24 and purchased a tub of fondant thinking I could use my coupon....wrong the manager Lupe said that I COULD'NT use it, that they did away with those. Personally I would have honored it, but he didn't which was very unprofessional in my opinion, he could have offered a 40% off, which he didn't as well, instead he only gave 20% off which was so ridiculous. I bought 210 meters of string and 4.5 oz of craft beads for $19.28. THAT IS OUTRAGEOUS. NO ONE CAN AFFORDED THAT PRICE. INSANE. And to make it worse, i gave the cashier a $20 bill and she should given me 72 cents back but guess what?! SHE SCAMMED ME OUT OF 22 CENTS! So on top of this outrageous pricing of some string and beads, she took more money than she was meant to. Don't shop here. read more

Great service and great attitude by the framing department. They sized up my 4 posters and found the right size frame for each. But they only had 1 in stock. The gal took the time to call other Michael's in the area and reserve 4 frames for me in Thousand Oaks. From my visit, it's apparent they have lots of frames in many sizes. They will custom frame anything too including a sports shirt. There's a 15% Military discount for their custom framing too. read more

I highly recommend you don't buy a Cricut machine from Michael's. They sell all kinds of Cricut machines but when mine was broken right out of the box they would not take it back Or exchange for the same product. I literally brought it back the next day. Not worth the hassle of driving out there and standing in line for twenty minutes only to now have to go deal with the manufacturer. I wish I would have just purchased from them in the first place. read more

Walked in, asked for an item I saw online. I asked a lady That works here, after walking to 1 location she said the inventory online is wrong and that they did not carry this item. Bummed because I drove such a long way. Anyway I kept looking because I felt she was withholding information. I showed her again online, offered an item number to help, she looked upset and bot willing to help anymore than she already did (which was not much other than look in one place and discredit their online inventory). This is the most boring and empty Michael's I have ever been to. They are out of so many things. The yarn section is almost non existent. It doesn't seem like they keep up with the inventory at all. It's the closest one to me but I dread going and will often drive the extra 15 minutes if I have the time to the Ventura store which is very full and inspiring. The employees are nice enough but some are very uninformed about the products. read more

Stopped in here to check out their baking supplies and I was pleased to find a good selection. The store is medium sized for a Michaels and crammed with stuff. I only ended up finding what I needed in many different products and didn't want to spend a fortune so I left empty-handed, but they did have the things I wanted if I was willing to buy too much and pay a lot. Store was clean enough. A little messy but it's Christmas season so it's busy and customers were not being very tidy. read more

The 5 stars are for the framing department. These guys do a great job at working with you to make whatever it is you need look exactly how you wanted it to look. They also don't work off of flat pricing, they'll make you a deal. (so much better than Aaron Brothers on pricing and time frame, no pun) The lines at the front of the store and the attitude of the cashiers need a lot of improvement, they never smile, their never friendly, just very robotic or maybe catatonic, their just not happy. read more

This store is a craftsman or craftswoman dream! Everything is where it should be and is easy to find and the staff there are extremely helpful and will drop whatever they're doing to assist you. I've shopped here for many different holidays and occasions and always found something that I didn't necessarily need but really enjoyed. They have awesome specials and deals and sales going on throughout the year. The prices are reasonable and often can find an awesome deal. My favorite time to shop here is during football season as I like to get creative well my boyfriend is watching the game. They have a wide selection of paints, craft , decorations, frames, baking supplies, and so much more. Even if you are not a creative person Michaels and Michaels staff can guide you in the direction where you can make something incredible or at least meaningful. read more

This is one of the WORST Michaels that I have ever been too. It's cramped, dirty, disorganized, and SO small. There were a lot of items out of stock - and mostly all the ones I needed. The aisles are so small that its a joke to try and get two carts down them. There were 12 (seriously 12!!!) people in line with 1 checker so I was there forever. This Michaels location is convenient for me; however, I will not be visiting this location again. read more

I usually go to the Michaels in Ventura but decided to give the one in Camarillo a try. Kind of disappointed. The store is small and the aisles are really cramped. There was only one checker. I prefer the one line feeds into all the lines set up that they have in Ventura. There was only one checker open and someone had a return and tied everything up when I was just buying one item. This is jusst a hilarious story to go with this store... Back when I was home for summer break from college I applied to work at Michaels, well they said "could you come in at 5am?" I looked at her with a serious face and said "I dont know....---starts to seriously things-----well I could try, I couldn't guarantee anything but it could be a possability" she said we'd be in contact.
