My review is based on consultation only. A friend chose Dr. Cohen for her rhinoplasty and LOVED him! Which, is why I researched this doctor and facility for the same procedure. The first person I spoke with via phone was very friendly and helpful. She transferred me to Sierra (who handles procedure scheduling etc for Dr. Cohen) was less friendly/helpful. Maybe she was having a bad day, or maybe our personalities just clashed...who knows! But, I didn't feel that the ongoing interaction with her that would be required for the procedure would be a pleasant one. Which, mattered to me. I think Dr. Cohen is highly qualified, he's a member of the rhinoplasty society, and doesn't have any negative info on his medical license. All of which, are important factors. Pricing is also in line with other surgeons for a primary rhinoplasty. My reasons for not choosing Dr. Cohen, was 1) Photos. While his photos are very good, I felt that other surgeons had better photos. And lets be honest, the more photos you see- the better sense you get for the work and outcome you'll have. 2) He does have a few negative reviews for this procedure (call me crazy, but I wanted someone who didn't have any negative reviews anywhere online for the procedure I wanted...surprisingly, I found that in LA!) 3) He uses nasal packing, and from the research that I did (which, was quite extensive)- supposedly the best rhinoplasty surgeons do not use nasal packing as it's a thing of the past. Again, my review is from my own interaction only, and not at all on the procedure itself. My friend did have a rhinoplasty done by Dr. Cohen, and she's super happy with her results. I was referred to Dr. Cohen by my cousin, who is very peculiar when it comes to pick a doctor. Dr. Cohen performed a lift on my upper and lower lids, a brow lift and fat transfer to smooth my bags under the eyes. The results are amazing, everything looks very natural, and finally I don't look tired anymore. All the staff members are a pleasure, and Dr.Marsh ( the anesthesiologist) is the best. I cannot say enough good things about this practice. First off, Dr. Cohen is a phenomenal plastic surgeon and a true expert in his field. Not only does he take the time to answer all questions regarding a procedure, but he genuinely cares for his patients and their outcomes. His talent is hard to come by! Dr Cohen is the best surgeon! I had a rhinoplasty from him about 6 years ago and love my results. I seriously look at my nose everyday and it keeps getting better. I don't know how that's possible but it's true. I decided to get my eyes pinched and some fat grafting around my eyes to smooth out some deep lines and hollowness. The results thus far have been unbelievable, and very little pain. There are several surgeons out there but I can honestly say they don't have the experience of Dr Cohen. I trust him so much to make me look natural and not over done. If I ever decide to have any other surgeries I'll be going to Dr. Cohen! 086 / 100 - 2016 YELP 100 CHALLENGE. First and foremost, Dr. Leong is fantastic as is the rest of the staff. They were wonderful when I came in for a consultation. Polite, friendly, and great bedside manner. I suffer from cystic acne. I'm sure if you went through some of my old reviews, you'd see that this is a problem I have had for a very, very long time. My cystic acne usually appears once a month (typically around my period) so I always just chalked it up as being caused by hormones. I got on BC, it seemed to help a lot, but I still get it every now and then. (I have now drawn the conclusion that it probably has to do with dairy because I always break out with cystic acne if I have too many chocolates or ice cream. My sister is in the same boat!) Even though I've gotten most of my cystic acne under control they have left some pretty ugly scars. I have no idea what the exact name for these are (they are fleshy bumps that don't look anything like a keloid scar, atrophic scar, etc) but they have been bugging me for YEARS! They're not super obvious, but as someone who takes immaculate care of my skin, it drives me insane to see these hard, fleshy bumps that just will NOT go away no matter what! Peels, creams, whatever... nothing has worked. So I thought I'd go to a dermatologist/plastic surgeon to get an assessment and see if they knew what it was. Scheduling an appointment at Faces+ was very easy. Getting there was also a cinch! I do want to note that the parking can be pretty hectic (and people can't really park), so be sure to get there a little early just in case. As expected of a plastic surgery office in La Jolla... the interior is beautiful. Very modern, up to date, clean and beautifully lit. Everyone I dealt with was kind and friendly. When I met Dr. Leong, she complimented me on how great my skin was. I pointed out the scars to her and asked if there was any type of procedures (ie. lasers) I could do to get rid of them. She explained that she wanted to try a few different things first as laser treatment would get rid of them but not rid of them forever. This was a bit of a downer, but I was willing to listen. First she wanted me to use a new facial scrub to help clear dead skin - cool, I can do that. Secondly she wanted me to try some new benzyl peroxide medication - also cool, I can do that. Third she wanted me to use some retin-a cream which I could do, but the fourth thing was what threw me off. She wanted me to get on high blood pressure medication (can't remember the name). She explained that a lot of people had seen improvement with their acne after consistently taking the meds. IMO, I see no reason for me to take this. I can understand topical creams, but if I don't have high blood pressure, why bother. It limits my diet (apparently I needed to be careful about eating foods high in potassium when taking it) and to be completely honest, it made me uncomfortable. I picked up the prescriptions for the new benzyl peroxide, bought Face+ facial scrub, and the retin-a cream and decided to give everything a try. What I gathered from 2-3 weeks of use: 1. The retin-a cream made me break out and caused cystic acne 2. The benzyl peroxide did nothing to get rid of it or even have it shrink in size/bring the swelling down 3. I was told to use the scrub 2x a week (I only use scrubs 1x a week) and when I used it 2x a week, my skin reacted poorly to it as the scrub is HARSH. Using the advised regiment turned my skin from being its clear and bright self to bright red, splotchy and acne ridden. I thought it would get better so I gave it another week, but it unfortunately didn't. I went back to my original regiment and my skin returned to normal after a week. (Thank GOD!) I think Dr. Leong is a fantastic doctor and I think Faces+ is great if you want to get plastic surgery, but their recommendations for my skin were just not a good fit for me. I understand Dr. Leong did not want to jump to laser treatment immediately and that's why she wanted me to try a bunch of different things, but I am a little disappointed that my original goal was ignored. My BC does a great job of controlling my acne and what I do for my skin now is great (the compliments I get speak for themselves), but I want to get rid of the scars left behind. I don't need high blood pressure medication to prevent acne (and even then it's not even a guarantee), I need treatment to flatten and get rid of old acne scars. In the end I may have to find another office that is willing to discuss and go through with laser treatment as the methods at Faces+ are just not for me. read more

I want a facial and there are no prices- everything says schedule a consultation. I don't want to make two trips for one service. When I called to clarify the front desk couldn't tell me what the prices really are and quoted me two different ranges, to be determined at my consultation. Im so happy to have been referred here! I split my time between LA and SD and hadn't found someone to dermaplane my face with facial treatments in San Diego... until now :-) Kris was delightful in booking my appointment with Lynn and in general the staff was very friendly. The space is very posh, clean and inviting. Upon arriving for my appointment I was greeted right away with a smile from the receptionist which is always a nice welcome. Once I met Lynn she took me to her room and we went over my expectations for my treatment. I wanted dermaplane (exfoliation with a razor), and a good peel to brighten my skin and improve the texture. Lynn suggested one and we got right to work. She was very easy to talk to, with lots of experience as a medical aesthetician. The treatment was pleasant and I can't wait to see how this peel goes. I was let down by my experience here. Attracted by the great Yelp reviews, I met with Dr. Cohen, but he came in the room and sat back on a couch, rather than looked at my skin close up, and then suggested some vague treatments. I visited some other places and they took the time to examine me closely. He deferred telling me how many treatments I'd need, only suggesting that great artist can't be confined. It's nice that he's a painter with talent, but I simply wanted a Doctor who looked closely at my skin, not my wallet. In other words, I left without knowing if I needed one $2,000 treatment or 12. I was then introduced to a skin-related employee, but not the laser specialist who might be frying my face. She failed to answer key questions, so I felt the whole experience was a waste of time. The employees out front were great, but everything else felt disorganized. It's a shame I couldn't meet the people they proposed I get zapped by. read more

I, like many many people out there may find ourselves in a position where we have problem areas that just do. not. budge. There is no shame in admitting that yes, I needed some help, especially when no amount of diet and exercise can undo the done. I spent years doing my research on the procedure I wanted and based on many reviews and experiences I read online, when it comes to your body, you DO NOT bargain shop. I wanted the best of the best. Enter Dr. Steven R. Cohen. He is highly decorated, gifted, personable and for the lack of better words, amazing at what he does. I had a consultation with him a couple years ago and from the get go I had a strong feeling that this guy is the real deal. He has a gorgeous office, amazingly helpful staff, is on the cutting edge, has the ethics and resume that could make one a many doctor envious. He is very thorough, informative and is very much a no BS, straight to the point kind of surgeon. He is incredibly confident in his abilities and it shows in his demeanor. Some people would be put off by that, labeling it as arrogance but not me. If I am going to do undergo reconstructive work, it better be done by god himself. I got just as close. Fast forward to this year, I finally mustered up the time window, energy and capital to do what needed to be done. Even when I was on the table, I went in with full confidence that I was going to wake up to great results. Believe me, it is a huge load off your shoulders to go into something that big with that form of reassurance. From start to finish he and his team always made me feel secure and taken care of, from the weekly post op check-ups, promptly returned calls, even Dr. Cohen himself took my phone calls on his personal cell at the butt crack of dawn on a weekend. It's been 5 weeks since my surgical procedure and even when I was bruised and stitched I could already see amazing results. It has only gotten better with healing and time but I cannot be happier with my choice in physician. The entire process from start to finish has been the best possible outcome I could have hoped for. Dr. Cohen is top notch, a surgical bad ass and overall a really cool person. He gave me part of my life back and 5 stars just isn't reward enough. read more

Came to Faces+ partially due to excellent Yelp reviews and partially due to the fact that it is super close to my work. Had a consultation with Jen for laser hair removal and then put things on ice for a little while, but when I decided to pull the trigger a few months later things were good to go. I had been delaying writing a review until I completed the treatments and then forgot about it and now, having added on more body parts to be dehairfied it's clear that I'm a fan of this place, and Jen in particular. She does a great job, very speedy, and puts you at ease. I am lucky enough to have hair that's particularly well targeted by lasers, but even after one or two visits I was seeing awesome results. It's on the pricier side for life ($200/visit for bikini, $100 for underarm), though I don't know how it stacks up against other places (but, do you really want to be skimping on a service that is pointing lasers at sensitive body parts?) but I am still just thrilled to have done it. I have my Botox done by Michelle Fisher, a nurse in this office. She is the best! Always consistent and never a mistake.

So I started coming her because of the WONDERFUL Dr. G. Now beside being the most wonderful plastic surgeon EVER he actually cares about his patients and his nurse Gruchren is the sweetest. He does my injections of Botox and Dysport and he also fixed my first boob job and now I couldn't be happier with them. I always recommend him to all my friends.
