Update: Upgraded to 5 stars. I returned for a 2nd facial last week, this time by Kiki - yelpers are right: she is fantastic. Skilled at extractions, really cleared up my skin (I had a lot of whiteheads under the surface), and she tailored the facial to fit my skin needs. When I told her my skin responds well to glycolic peels, she applied one that has really helped to smooth the texture of my skin. Gave me helpful tips, too. Fantastic service for the price. ********** If you are looking for an efficient, thorough deep-cleaning facial, this is a fantastic value. $70 for 90 minutes, if you purchase a series of 5, it's only $60 per facial. This is not a place for pampering and soothing facials (the place is also a Shisheido store, the facials are done in clean rooms in the back, but I could hear phones ringing, chatter during some of my 90 minutes). You come here to get a good detox for your skin. Oh, and they are Chinese, so while the English is good, it's not native. I spoke English at all times and had no problems. Everything was pretty standard. Steam, then cleaning, then extractions, then a zapping wand for disinfecting, then a cooling facemask, followed by lotion, but no eye cream or lip balm, despite my clearly chapped lips. My lady was very thorough in her extractions; I think we spent 30-45 minutes on extractions. I have acne-prone skin, and my pores were pretty clogged from recent poor habits (shame on me - um, can I blame law school stress?). Extractions were painful, if you can't take pain, I'm sure she can go easy on you, but it's good for your skin, so I suggest you just soldier on. Her technique was good, no scarring or anything. Definitely no blood. It's been a week later and my skin is clearer. I will return. read more

This place is no frills, so if you're into that stuff or just want a fancy experience this is not for you. But Facial Plus has the best facials I've ever gotten in my life. I've been to a few fancy places, and they skimp on the extractions, put a bunch of products on my skin, and the effects are basically gone the next time I wash my face. Facial Plus, on the other hand, does intensive extractions and they meticulously clean out every pore on your face. It can be a bit painful but is so so so worth it. My skin is clear for weeks after a facial there. The cost is super low ($60 for a 90 min facial if you buy the package). I always go to Ruby 'cause she rocks the extractions and is such a sweetheart. read more

I decided to try this place because of my upcoming wedding. No makeup can substitute healthy and glowing skin, right? Ruby did my facial and she did a great job. I have very sensitive skin and minor rosachea on my cheeks because of past acnes. She got that! Some of facial places didn't care of my sensitive type skin and just did whatever massage they want. My face normally came out red and stayed red for days after facial. THis is different. Ruby was very gentle and after the facial, I felt fresh and clean. The following days, my skin still glows.. No redness whatsoever.. Neck massage was great, enough pressure. She massaged my hands it came out really smooth and moist. Overall, very pleasant experience, I'd probably buy their $300 package so I can get regular facial until the wedding day.. :) read more

Thanks to school, finals, and a shit load of terrible eating from the holidays- my skin was having a serious fit. Last time I came was around a year ago, so I finally decided to schedule a much needed appointment to get my face cleaned up and boy did I feel the repercussions. Crystal was nice enough to talk me through the extraction and bonus even fed the rest of my meter since I only brought an hour worth of quarters. I joined Yelp just to give Facial Plus a review. I must say that I agree with most of the good reviews about the spa (and the one person with the bad review sounds like she needs to see a dermatologist and not an aesthetician!). I got stuck at work so I was running late for my appointment. I called Facial Plus to let them know and they were very flexible and accommodating. When I got there, I filled out the forms and was ushered into a private room for my facial. My first impression of the facial room is that it wasn't fancy but very basic and most importantly, very clean floors and towels. My facial was 90-minutes process with several pluses, as outlined by others, including painless extractions, head massage, a hand massage and heated moisture gloves. They also offered to feed my car meter while I was getting my facial so big points for being so accommodating! Just a couple things to flag for the manager: My aesthetician left the door of my room open so I could hear voices and people walking down the hallway and couldn't relax 100% during my session. Another minor issue was the music from the stereo stopped playing so it'd helpful to make sure there is music playing at all times, particularly during sessions. read more

I usually get facials bi-monthly but have neglected to do so this past year. Thankfully Kiki took care of me, my appt at 5:45pm I of course was 15 min late trying to rush through downtown traffic,but as I entered the folks at Facial Plus made me feel at ease with no rush trying to push me through my treatment. Kiki never left my side during my treatment. One of my pet peeves during a facial is that they leave you when your being steamed or when you have a mask on. It's fine to leave me alone once but 3 times, I get bored easily. This place provides super pampering and great skin care for a bargain price. I have come here now 3 times and each time, I am blown away by what a bargain it is for such great service. I have been to Crystal, who I think is great. If you are looking for a super-fancy spa, this is not the place. There is not plush waiting rooms with a locker room to lounge in. Alice is the best facialist in the world! i've had facials in hong kong, china (ew), hawaii, mexico, and other san francisco spots, and by far, Alice knows my skin the best, does the least painful extractions, and the longest facial massages. Facial Plus has a 60-minute refresher facial for only $55 or a full facial for $70 (90 min). Also a bonus: my sensitive skin is never red afterwards. read more

Ok so I've been going here for years... back when I used to live around the corner. It began as a convenient place to get the eye brows waxed but it remains my salon of choice for eye brows. Alice is the BEST! She is so consistent... and I do believe that is what we need when we get our eye brows waxed! She is always so pleasant! I'm usually treated like a step child by the other staff members and if it wasn't for Alice this place would get 3 stars but because of her, this place deserves a 4! ALICE is AWESOME! The first time I went there, I didn't like it solely because a week after I had this very tiny bums on my forehead like a sporadic acne, which freaked me out. But after i went to Kimberly Padgett- I've got horrible whiteheads the next day. So comparing the two, I would choose Facial Plus. It is cheaper, they do much more thorough job on extractions- which might be painful - but your face does get much much cleaner. So they're good. i am finally writing this after coming here couple times I always get their 90 min facials. I like how they take their time to clean my face. i do see improvements after coming here .Yes it is expensive knowing that every month adds up but I say it worth it because having nice glowing skin is worth it. Before my wedding, I visited Facial Plus, I think they did a pretty good job.But beware that the first two days after the facial you may expereince some red spots (if she digged out ur dirt/oil bumps on your face). I think within 2 days, my face is fine(Luckily I gave one week ahead to do the facial before my wedding). The one star was gone for being too hard sell on their products,...and they kept persuaded me to pay for the more expensive facial ...thats what i dont like, but i think other than that, their price is pretty cheap for $55 doing a standard facial...and they claimed that they use all shiseido products for the facial, if this is true, then the price is more worth it! By the end of the facial, the person who served me gave me many free samples! read more

I'm not sure why everyone was saying they push products on you, that never happened to me. I got Crystal to work on my facial, and she was sweet and informative. The extractions were painful, BUT my pores were never so clear, so I guess it was worth it. The products are not as great as the ones in fancy salons, but $70 for a 90 minutes facial is out of this world as far as a good deal goes. I like my regular facilist better, but in a pinch, this is a great backup, will be back! read more

About a week ago I wrote a one star review, which I have since removed. It turns out that there was a misunderstanding, most likely due to a language barrier. I'm now changing my one star to five stars, not just because they offer great facials, but because they should be commended for their sense of follow-up and concern for their customers. In my book, that is what constitutes five-star service - something that a lot of expensive hotels and salons don't get right. As most reviewers have indicated the facials are great (very thorough), the prices are very affordable and the staff are very nice. I've always enjoyed going there, and now that I know just how conscientious they are about taking care of their customers, I look forward to returning. read more

I have had facials from other places in the city where I felt like they just washed my faced with the same product over and over again and I would leave so unsatisfied and discouraged about not finding "my spot." After my facial today with Ruby I will most definitely be returning. It was an extremely clean and cute places, filled with nice and helpful employees. It was not the fanciest place I have ever been to but who cares because the quality of the facial sold me. She cleansed, scrubbed, extracted, masked, massaged, and hydrated my face. During the facial she also massaged my neck, hands, and shoulders, moisturized my hands and wrapped them, threaded my upper lip, and made my eyebrows look better then ever. I was so relaxed that I dozed off for a bit. I also purchased Shiseido products that they sold there, and I am excited to go back. Great experience!! She takes care of my skin very well.She never pushes me to buy anything and she only suggests what is best for you. Thanks for replying me, there's more I need to tell you about it so you are not blindfolded by your employees. I did swatched many lipsticks, but most of them I just looked, I only tried the ones that I was interested in. I promise and I swear I was really gentle. I did not roll them out entirely, as a lipstick lover I will never do this. I DID NOT TEST ANY OF YOUR EYESHADOWS OR EYEBROW PENCILS. I did not even open up any of the covers. Your eyebrow pencil was running out so I twisted a few more times to make sure there's nothing coming out from it, which your employee told me about that so I put them back right away. Your employees were unpatiented and stared at us like she's about to slap me in the face. I appriciate that she did not do that. If you think that I am a liar, you should check and double check how your employees talked to us as she thinks we were really playing around. I did found what I like at that day, but I was too disappointed to spend any money. I hope your employees show better attitude toward customers who were looking for what they want. PS: I did not say I am here to play, I said your employees told us we are here to play. And I didn't say I will come back another time because I will never do that. I understand how your staff wants to cover up the truth because they need to keep their jobs. But you as a manager of your employees, what you can do is to tell your staff to be respectful to every customer, not just customer who spend money on your product. I am sad that you did not apologize for what your employee said to us in the first place. Which you don't have to, because it's useless. If you just simply apologize or say that you will have a better idea how to improve this kind of situation next time, I will delete my comments and reviews. But that seems impossible for you to do so because I don't see any trust between us. By the way, since you said that we showed no repect to your business, why don't you ask your employees what did we say before we leave the store? We put back all the lipsticks in their place not on the floor or somewhere else, and put the number side facing us so that the next customer would not struggle finding the numbers, which I did confused by seeing all the numbers upside down. And we said "Thank you" before we walk out. I had no complains about your services at that point. But instead I heard that your employees said we are here to play. Funny how you ask repesct from me but your employees showed none. From my memory, your employee didn't ask if we needed any help besides asking what are we looking for. I did not rememer the product name so I think I can find it out myself. Maybe that's why you think we are playing. After I start swatching from the CPB lipstick, your employees start talking about how pricey those products were, I guess that was a hint that those products are not affordable to young people like us. I just hope your employees don't judge customers by their look. You have to know that some words you heard from your employees were not correct. read more

I've been coming here for years. I love all the ladies. I love the chest and shoulder massage while my face is under the steamer. I love the extractions (just think: i am ridding my face of toxic gunk), I love the face massage afterwards. They even pluck /shape my brows and thread my upper lip (mustache). I always come out feeling and looking great. All the ladies are great; I usually rotate between them all. Irving and Noriega St locations are both excellent, and there's absolutely no pressure to purchase. They have free gift with purchase specials once or twice a year, and people buy a lot; they don't need encouragement to buy, so it must be a good deal. I don't like very high end pricey stuffy snotty places, and I don't like cheap iffy places, so this is a very nice, clean, friendly place that I highly recommend. read more

sandy is a great facialist. those of you who have tried asian and american facials know the difference. i do love the spa quality of american facials, the cleanliness, the quiet space, and sometimes champaign and snacks. but that comes with a hefty price. even that does not always guarantee a great facial. with asian facials, you get more. you get a massage, hand treatment, brow cleaning and tweezing and little other perks depending on your skin needs. one thing i really love about sandy is that she is very very thorough and so really spends time cleaning and prepping my skin so it's healthy and clean and feeling great. the space is farely quiet and comfortable and clean. however, it's not like a full fledge expensive spa feel. but it will do because as far as facial is concerned, i need them to really spend time on me and my skin and really clean everything. read more

I'm very dissatisfied with the customer service from one of the salesperson there. Usually I buy the products from department stores but this time I decided to buy from the store. When I went in, there was an older saleswoman who was working there when I tried to ask her a question, the first thing she said to me was "What do you want?" with a mean look on her face. There was also another customer who came in after me who was dressed much more elegantly than I was that day and the saleswoman greeted her with a big smile on her face. She left me by myself standing at the makeup counter. I had intended to continue buying products from this store because it was closer to my area but after this experience, I rather travel farther to a department store where at least I do not encounter salespeople such as that woman and where I am not judged by what I wear or what I buy or how much I spend. The rude saleswoman looks old with a lot of wrinkles on her face. I'm not trying to be mean but I honestly do not understand why she is even selling skin products to customers, especially with that attitude! Future customers, please be aware of her and STAY away because she will just ruin your experience. read more

I've been going to the gals there for a couple of years now, every three weeks or so; I buy the series of 10 and save considerable money on their already unbeatable price for their thorough facials. The session lasts an hour and a half and boy is it wonderful! Several times over the last while I've told myself during the facial that I would be sure to remember each step so I could list them here but by half-way through I'm always so blissed-out I lose track and can't for the life of me remember all the processes when I walk out. I do recall these: First a cleansing and then thorough steaming; then extraction and exfoliation. Next come five or six more processes, not the least of which is a fabulous, lengthy face massage. I've been getting the treatment from Cindy all these months and her work is wonderful: Gentle, thorough and attentive. I recommend her with five stars. It's true that a couple of times I've been invited to consider some of their products but it's a low-key approach; nothing to get one's knickers in a twist about. And I've not been hesitant to form the word "no" on the rare occasion it's been called for. No problemo; those gals are mellow. And by the way, though the metered parking in front of the shop is only one hour, if you can find a spot within reasonable distance of the front door the women will gladly take your quarters, set a timer, and feed your meter for you. Talk about service! Stephanie's shop is not one of those uber-dolled-up places that charge you an arm-and-a-leg to help them pay for the gleaming spa decor. The treatment rooms are your basic rubber-dolly pink, plain but comfortable and cozy. And the soft, soothing music and extraordinary treatment soon supercede any esthetic concerns one may have. I sent my best girlfriend there on my dime for a badly needed restorative (her weary psyche needed restoration, not her face!) and she reported it was the best facial she had ever had. She did a great shoulder massage before my treatment which was one of the best I have ever had.she made me feel very comfortable by explaining how the facial would work and expect some red marks after the blackheads extraction, which is very normal .I'm very pleased with my facial, my skin is glowing, and looks so healthy now . Please take this review with a grain of salt. I have VERY sensitive skin, so I'm having issues finding a place for facials. I made an appointment at facial plus on Saturday and got an appointment for Sunday. Woohoo! I was seen by Sandy. She seemed like a nice lady, but I have to question the sincerity of a Chinese lady complementing an ABC's chinese...=p The facial was, in all honesty, pretty fully loaded for the price if you don't have sensitive skin issues. She starts off with extractions, followed by electrical shocks to your skin, some massaging and finishing with a mask. That's a lot of work for $70 (I didn't get the package). Although the experience was a little rough around the edges (i.e. she was rather rough when wiping products off my face), it was ok. The day after, I noticed she wasn't very thorough with the extractions (hmmm....a ploy to make me come back more often??) and my neck started breaking out in rashes. I think I'll try a few more facial places before coming back. I still prefer ModVellum on Union street, but I'll see what else is out there first. read more

They get the job done for a fair price. They have a package deal that's $300 for 5 visits. The visits all have the same process: cleansing, shoulder massage, face steaming, pore extraction and that electric zapping tool, face massage, face mask, and final application of product (they use shiseido). I typically see Ruby cause she's great at every step of the process and all my visits with her have been consistent. I can tell she really cares about her clients' skin and always gives honest feedback and advice about caring for your skin. read more

this is the second facial plus salon i went to on irving street. the first one was the noriega location. i really dont think the facials are that great. one facial is $80; with tip that is almost $100. i'm glad i didnt buy the package as it would have been a waste of money. they only use shiseido products, and i feel like they just make money from selling those products. i have acne prone skin and the esthetician really did not extract much or worked with much strength and effort. she really didnt scrub or massage much my face either. the best esthetician i've ever had is still lydia @ youthderm in l.a./temple city. so if you're ever in l.a. check them out!! read more

I came here for the first time last week. I had my facial done by Ruby. $70 per session or $300 for a 5-pack. The facial was ok. The extractions were bearable. Nice to have soothing music in the room, but the room was left ajar and a bit noisy as you can hear all the commotion downstairs. What can I say that hasn't been said about Ruby? She treats her clients as individuals and after going there awhile can tell you what does and doesn't work with your skin. She knows skin, and massage and her facial is very relaxing with immediate results. She is very very good and I wouldn't trust my brows now to anyone but her. She will thread where needed and takes care of whatever is required on each visit. No cookie cutter care from her. She also is excellent at lash dying with zero discomfort. I don't have any major skin problems ( other than age ) and she is sensitive to exactly what works and doesn't. The Shisheido products I've started using I'm very happy with as well especially the sunscreen. I look forward to my visits and plan to be a client for as long as I'm in San Francisco. read more

I decided to try Facial Plus on Irving after reading all the great Yelp reviews! I got an appt with Crystal and she's wonderful! Listens to you and gives you a complete analysis of your skin needs. I highly recommend Crystal if you want your pores cleared and detailed extractions. She also does some awesome magical threading on your brows and upper lips! After my first visit, I decided to purchase a 5 visit pkg(for more savings) Then I stopped by to browse the products.... taking Crystal's advice I decided to purchase much needed anti aging serum and eye cream!
