Very trendy spot with a great beer, sake, and wine selection. I met up with a few old friends here on a Friday night. The tables outside are first come first serve. They have a small window for ordering beverages. They have a couple kinds of each wine and some organic wines as well which come in either 4 or 6 oz pours. The draft beers were all very unique such as a few German ones. I've actually never heard of any of the beers which was kind of nice to try some new styles/flavors. Very relaxed atmosphere. I didn't have a chance to sample any of the food. I would definitely come back to hang out here, try some food, and sample some new drinks. read more

Really cool biergarten and outside area! They have a rotating food truck right outside where you can buy food, and you can also purchase and eat in the wine/sake bar. As a longtime fan of WC Harlan and Clavel this place has been on my "to visit" list since it opened. I love the idea of a bar that specializes in natural wines and sake. Lane is a master curator and her selections never disappoint. I LOVE the atmosphere at Fadensonnen. I was instantly at ease from the moment we walked in. We were greeted by their friendly FoH staff and chose two seats at the bar. Aside from a unique selection of natural wines and sake they also have a few cocktails on the menu. I started with the "Sommaco", which was a drink made with strawberry & wild sumac, rancio sec, and sparkling water. Delicious! My second drink was the best Japanese highball I've ever had. Toki whisky, Singha sparkling water from Thailand, and expert assembly. They have a bottle shop right near the bar...so if you end up really liking that glass of orange wine from Slovakia...you can take a bottle home! Which is exactly what we did. Bravo Lane Harlan! went here after pride and was disappointed with their overall drink selection and service. bartender was short and seemed to judge the people in our group who were not drinking. was very dismissive of them when they ordered a nonalcoholic beverage and threw their credit card back at them. Also we ordered two glasses of the cider that they had. I watched her pour a full portion into one glass then started pouring a second glass when the bottle ran out halfway through. Instead or charging less for one of them she poured some from the full glass into half full glass in front of us and charged full price for both of them. All the drinks were meh and selection was poor. Customer service awful. won't be going back read more

Fadensonnen is an extraordinary space; nothing comes close to it in Baltimore, Washington DC, or Philadelphia. It feels like a secret. The spaces are distinctive in their own way. Want to hang out with friends after work? The tented and heated beer garden is your spot. Need to hide away with your lover, head upstairs and get secluded with a cheese board and natural wine. Our bartender from upstairs and downstairs were so knowledgable and more than happy to answer our questions about natural wines and sake. Oh boy, the sake! There's nothing like the taste of fresh sake and it took me this long to find it. Went here while waiting for a table at Clavel. Space is beautiful, fascinating and intimate. Food is fine. No big swings and the terrines and conservas are clearly intended to support the wine. Wine list is all natural but consists of all the usual suspects, it needs more depth, diversity, or direction. Most interesting wine wasn't available for purchase by the bottle which I found odd until it dawned on me they were selling 2oz pours for $16. Which feels to me like trying to take advantage of an under-informed clientele. That being said, the educational aspect of a natural wine bar was completely lacking. It feels like to me someone likes the idea of natural wine, has the money to open a bar, but expects the public to fill in the gaps. Similar to Clavel, there aren't many better options in town to force Fadensonnen to be better but that will change in time. read more

I admire the creative use of space and how Lane and Co. have managed to put together a string of very diverse and interesting concepts in parts of town that are usually overlooked, even by locals. Admittedly, I didn't know much about this concept before I came, so I actually left disappointed. My suggestion is, if you come, make sure you're not actually hungry or thirsty. Portions are very tiny, prices are very high. Coming home after spending over $100 for hors d'oeuvres is kind of hard to take. read more

Just went here for the first time last night! I don't spend much time in this neighborhood, but the reviews pushed me to check it out. And I'm glad I did! This is a rustic, minimalist place with an outdoor biergarten and upstairs area that features sake and natural wines. There was a DJ playing a cool assortment of music. I didn't get a chance to try their beers downstairs, but I had a great experience upstairs. We had a caraffe of warm sake, cheese board and the nduja (spreadable pork salume, marmalade, oil) with delicious bread. A little pricey, but will definitely be there again. This review is two-fold. 1) I was in Lancaster for holiday from Austin and I always like to scope out a few wine bars before I make my way somewhere. I looked at Baltimore because we were going to have a few hours before we had to head to BWI. After falling on Fadensonnen's Instagram page and seeing their amazing bottle selection I knew I found my place. I noticed they had a few bottles on the shelves in their photos that are almost impossible to get in Austin. After reaching out to see if the bottle shop was open the Saturday after Thanksgiving they informed me that it wasn't but the wine bar is and I would be able to get some bottles to go from there. I mentioned the bottles I was looking for and they passed along the pricing info (which was VERY reasonable). After agreeing on the bottles I'd like they told me the bar would have them in hand waiting for me as I stop by. Sure enough, Saturday at open, I walk in and my bottles were there with 0 hassle, best buying experience I've had outside of my usual spots in Austin. 2) The wine bar is beautiful. So cozy it even made a tourist like me feel like this was my regular spot. By the glass prices were standard across the board which I enjoyed, really makes it easy to choose something you're really in the mood for. The selection would make any natty enthusiast's dreams come true. The only downside is that I only had 45 minutes before I had to bounce to make my flight, can't wait to come back into Baltimore and spend some more time at this gorgeous place. read more

Wanted to try this place out being fans of WC Harlan. Had to Uber, no parking around and didn't seem like the best area of town either. Beer garden on the first floor, we didn't go in since it was cold outside but will definitely give a try in the summer time. Upstairs is a small dark room with tables and a bar. We sat and looked at the menu. We asked the waiter for his recommendations and he brought us two casks. Waiter was super helpful and really knowledgeable. Personally, I am not a fan of sake. I think it tastes like rubbing alcohol. Waiter brought one (Brooklyn..something) that was very fruity, nothing like I had tried before. Didn't have that alcohol taste, liked it a lot. The other one was more "earthy" and "mushroomy" and was a little more traditional sake but still wasn't bad. On a whim we tried the "rice beer." I really liked both kinds they had (both from cans not tap). Would definitely come back for the beer! read more

This is a super interesting place. Food is really excellent and the selection of beer and wine is also pretty great. The selection of different areas in which to sit is also super cool. It is kind of like a hipster Mecca . But I like that. I will say that the upstairs area where you can get food is so impossibly dark it is very hard to read. Maybe that is what they're going for, but it is really really dark. All the food that we had was interesting and well prepared. The place is pretty crowded and the servers are stretched thjn. But everyone was pleasant and seemed to make it a fun atmosphere. read more

This place has great ambience, a wide variety of wines (and sakes!) that you can't find anywhere else, and amazing pop up chefs that come and pair food weekly. perfect summer evening low-key hangout/date spot. my first time visiting this place - close to clavel taco restaurant, and a speakeasy nearby if you wanted to get more food/drinks/social vibes afterwards. it was not loud/crowded, with really cute lights, biergarten style long benches, and aesthetic roof-top vibe seatings spread evenly (outdoor). dogs are welcomed, the wine bar was closed when we visited but the drinks were excellent. awesome beer selection as well as sake and sparkling drinks! highly recommend!! read more
