Another hidden gem in Baltimore. We were looking for a place to hang out at while we waited for our next event to begin and we stumbled upon this wine bar. The ambiance was fantastic for a sunny day. We were able to sit outside and enjoy some cocktails while taking in the sun and the scenery. The also have a tavern which I didn't get to check out but will check out next time. The service was great. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. He told us a little history of the wine bar and gave great recommendations for drinks and food. I ordered a whisky sour and for food we had potatoes, beats and a delicious slaw. It was a great experience. If you are looking for a chill relaxing wine bar then Fadensonnen is the place for you. Overall, I had a decent experience here and would rate it a 3.5/5. I loved Clavel, so I was curious to check this spot out since it has the same owners. I really liked the vibe of the space. The breeze under the pavilion was the perfect accompaniment to the evening, and there was plenty of seating. I did feel like the food portions were a little small for the price, but I enjoyed the chicken and potatoes. I also wish more of the wine selection was available by the glass instead of only the specialty wines by the bottle because we ended up choosing from the house wine options. The patio is so charming, with lots of wooden benches, an awning, and delicious drinks to choose from. I went on a Thursday with my friend and was able to get tableside service for drinks. We both grabbed a pickle martini because we were so curious to try it. It was quite briney, and not my typical drink of choice, but I'm glad I tried it. Although Fadensonnen doesn't serve food, there is a rotisserie chicken spot also connected to the patio called Chachi. When I ventured inside to go to the bathroom, the dimness was such a drastic change from the bright outdoor patio that it was almost impossible to see inside. Seating outside is big picnic tables...you will be sharing but who doesn't like meeting new people? Pet friendly...my Luna usually sits right next to me the entire time, especially if I get roasted chicken from Chachi's. What's that? Food? Yes. To the right is a great restaurant with the BEST chicken. (Luna approved). Very cute spot and great ambience! Fadensonnen has a tavern, tap house and beer garden. We sat in the tavern which serves some select cocktails, wines and other drinks. The tap house is located just downstairs but we did not go there. It was raining out so there weren't a lot of people sitting out in the beer garden. For food, you can place an order at Chachi's which is just next to the beer garden, and they will bring it out to wherever you're sitting. We tried two of the cocktails at the tavern which were good. The ambience is fantastic - love the cozy, candlelit feeling. It's a great place to bring friends or for a date night. I would come back just for the vibe. The drinks were ok in my opinion. I would probably get a glass of wine the next time I come. There is no table service - you place the order at the bar and wait for your drink to be prepared and bring it to the table yourself. Which was fine as it wasn't super busy and it was fun to hang around the bar. My partner saved Fadensonnen to our list of places to try and this Friday, we were in the area and decided to pop in. We walked into the courtyard and it was so cute! There's food to the right (chicken and potatoes ) and the Taproom and tavern to the left. The vibes here are super intimate and cozy, which I love. They were out of chicken, but I was really in the mood for some sides. The chef recommended the Schmaltz (ie., chicken fat drippings) Potatoes and Red Beans (tomato based with herbs)--and I was bowled over by the ample portions and hearty taste. Even save some for later to keep my mannish bod. Next, I strolled to the taproom for a bear--I mean beer (miskeyed there). I'm a "wine-o" and pretty much exclaimed for all present how I'm SO not into beer and know nothing--other than my favs, by heart: Devil Mountain (defunct?), Killian's Red or Cornona (with a lime, please). Nevertheless, when prompted by server and fellow customers alike, I further admitted my preference for ales or light-tasting swills. Surprisingly, a Reissdorf kölsch was genially recommended and approvingly endorsed by all. I've been coming here since 2019 and it's always a solid spot. They do include a 20% service fee for all orders. On this occasion, I came to their Gut High wine tasting event. What a unique and fabulous space! We came here for pre-dinner drinks on a Friday and got a table no problem. I ordered the Stoned Medusa, a spritz with strong flavors of tamarind - neither too sweet nor bitter. I was most taken about by the lovely space - outdoor tent, a dark and romantic first floor bar, and an airy and spacious upstairs bar with plenty of seating. Ive been to Fadensonnen a few times and have always enjoyed their selection of wines and the overall vibe of the place. The outdoor seating is nice when the weather is nice and the upstairs space is dark and feels cave like in the best possible way. Its one of those places where you can go and loose track of time easily and enjoy drinks with friends. i havent really tried any of the beers yet but I'll be back for them. This place is a slightly hidden treasure. It has at least 5 different unique spots to sit and grab a drink or food. The large courtyard with communal picnic table seating is a great place to drink a beer and mingle with friendly strangers. And you can bring your dog. There is also a second floor bar that is lit exclusively with candlelight. It is very early Americana rustic - sort of like you're on a tour of an historic home. Very romantic for a date night. And, in my opinion, the best place to sit is on the tiny balcony on the stairs leading from the courtyard to the second floor bar. There are only 3 tiny tables, but the people watching is stellar. Also - the food is so much better than expected. I legit had sauerkraut here that changed my life. The food menu is small but tasty, and the specials have always been outstanding. They have a good assortment of sour beers on tap, and the bartenders are super friendly and knowledgeable. This place is a casual, low key good time. Highly recommend. read more

This was my second time going to Fadensonnen. The first time I sat upstairs in the Tavern and enjoyed the more intimate space, and the second time I sat in the courtyard and was in the more social space. I love the different seating options for very different vibes. I think the drink menu has a nice little variety for the size of it. The drinks I ordered, Gin & Raspberry and Rye Whiskey & Pineapple were delicious. They're a decent price. My biggest complaint is that we were not made aware of the last call time for the courtyard. When we ordered about 20min before last call, the bartender never said anything, and he didn't announce it to the courtyard. Although the upstairs tavern stays open longer, it's kind of a bummer if you want beer since the menu up there is limited. The beer I wanted was not offered upstairs. I'll definitely come back, but I think it's important to be cognizant of the difference in closing times for the courtyard and the tavern! read more

*written during COVID restrictions* I and some friends came here to hang one fall weekend. Fadesonnen shares an outdoor area with Larder. It's got a roof strung with lovely lights and heaters with lots of benches/private tables. It is the perfect set up for the cooler months! We decided to split a bottle of Amor Mundi orange wine 2018 ($36) and got the chicken tagine from Larder ($14). It was my first time having orange wine and it was sooo good. Not terribly sweet and very light. The chicken tagine was also very well flavored. I especially loved the ginger and cilantro touches too. Overall good vibes, good playlist, good food.
