Cajun shrimp and chicken pasta
Kelly C.

My work bestie and I recently visited Poets Modern Cocktails and Eats at Hotel Indigo, and it continues to be a hidden gem. We first discovered it during a holiday luncheon late last year and vowed to return. This time, we started with wings--half Honey Old Bay and half Honey BBQ. The wings were perfect, with crispy skin and juicy, tender white meat. For the main course, we both ordered the Cajun Shrimp and Chicken Pasta. While the noodles could have been cooked a bit longer, the flavor was spot on. The portion size felt a little smaller than we remembered, but it was still filling. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this spot. The food is top-tier, and I'm looking forward to coming back in the evening to try their cocktails!

Poets Modern Cocktails and Eats was in the lobby of our hotel. We stopped in three times during our stay due to convivence. It has a great atmosphere. The first stop was for dinner. Food was good, however, it was disappointing that the only vegan/vegetarian option was a simple salad. They need to have more to offer on their menu for guests with dietary needs. We ordered a salad and a burger. The burger was good, the salad was lack luster. We were lucky enough to catch happy hour, so our drinks were $7 each. The next time we stopped in, we had afternoon cocktails. They were light on the alcohol, but heavy on the price. We paid $36 with a tip for 2 cocktails. The third time we stopped was for breakfast. Skip the coffee. It was more water than coffee. We ordered pancakes, a yogurt parfait and a side of breakfast potatoes. The potatoes were deep fried, and gross. Breakfast was $56. All three times, service was extremely slow. At breakfast, we waited 45 minutes for pancakes and yogurt. Do not go here if you are in a rush or want options, or do not want to leave your savings account behind. Not impressed.

A hotel bar is a hotel bar. Unless it has great food, attentive staff, comfy seating, and is a well-lit hub of the lobby's activity. We ate breakfast here twice, as it is also the hotel's principal restaurant. (This is an IHG Indigo Hotel.) Had drinks here one afternoon, and even sat at the bar to read the newspapers I bought nearby. Not your cookie cutter, corporate, tacky hotel bar. A truly unique space to meet friends and family. Glad it was here, and it makes my interest in returning to this fine hotel even greater than it would have been. And look, I agree with the late Anthony Bourdain - don't always drink at hotel bars - venture out into strange cities and go where the people who work at the hotel drink. Agreed. But every now and then, the ease of having a cold one 8 floors beneath your room beckons. Cheers!

I came to Poets because I go wherever Brittni goes! Excellent service , genuine empathy and she remembers everyone's name. In a time where customer service is hit or miss , you get a real one at Poets with Brittni. The food is quite tasty despite a limited offering. They do however do what they do, very well! Try the Poet wrap ... Yo , I'm a friggin poet.... Skurt Skurt. Gang Gang Lol , no I'm kidding. It's my birthday and I've had several drinks at the bar with Brittni. Stop thru, it's awesome!!!

I stopped by for a quick meal before catching an Amtrak train! The lobby/restaurant area had a lot of seating and they happened to have a jazz band on Thursday night. There is WiFi and outlets if you need to get work done! The food was decent but on the more expensive side.

We arrived late in the evening, so we decided to grab a bite in the lobby of Hotel Indigo. Customer service was pretty solid. The vibe was cool and low-key. The food was okay. It was sufficient for dining in a hotel lobby and for a quick meal if you do not feel like leaving the hotel. The hummus was pretty good. The pita that was on the platter with the hummus was just cold and flat. The curly fries and wings were okay. The wings had a good flavor; they just were not cooked as well as I would have liked them. Again, it's nothing to rave about, but you won't starve if you do not want to leave the hotel.

I stayed at the hotel for a few days, but only tried the breakfast. The service at breakfast was very attentive, friendly, and efficient. It has a chill atmosphere & comfortable seating. The side of bacon was thick, crispy & well cooked. The griddle pancakes were perfect. They were light & fluffy, golden & delicious (even before adding butter or syrup), & had just the right amount of sweetness.

Lovely spot, nice hotel, and great people! Super thankful to be able to have such comfort food in the midst of Baltimore so close to the Walters Museum. The ambience was calm and casual, and everyone seemed very comfortable. The seats right next to the window seemed like a dreamy location to have tea or coffee or a short meal with a friend or chat for hours. I was at a table with my friends, and we were very much not ignored, and Served very comfortably and well. Alisha, I think her name was, was very attentive and playful with all of us. Despite our hunger, she made the weight very short, and got us out her food very quickly. The food was hot, when it was supposed to be hot, and the salads were so refreshing. Each flavor was a different, each texture was on point, and all of us were so comfortable and so happy to be there. This was a modernized comfort, food, like poetry being read to us and consumed with each bite. Super thankful and grateful for great service and food in the middle of town!

Not a food review- just a huge thumbs up for the beverage. The bartender is a bartender... not a bottle opener or popping a can of prefab mixer. I ordered a Pimms Cup and it was crafters well. Enjoyable place right off the hotel lobby of Hotel Indigo.

We came in for drinks so I can't speak to the food. What I can say is that the place is comfortable and stylish with great management. Bottle service was outstanding--,I believe the manager is an actual sommelier. Surprisingly, bottles are actually very reasonably priced so you can treat yourself and not feel fiscally irresponsible afterwards. I give bonus points to any place where the bathrooms offer lotion in addition to soap. Being rewarded for good hand hygiene with hands that look like you've been playing with chalk gets old. Thank you for saving me from that fate, Poets.

Popped in for lunch before heading to Walter's Art Museum--I've been here before and it still was hard to find: INSIDE the INDIGO Hotel! *Free parking across the street with a entree purchase--just bring your parking coin to the concierge before leaving! Bouchard Chardonnay $12 Riesling $10 (over priced for Chateau St. Michelle) Lexington Market Salad $25 Shrimp Salad Wrap $17 Food is fresh and the portions are perfect!

I had about an hour to kill before me train from pen station. This location was a great place to stop by for a quick drink and food. It is less than 5 minutes from that train station. The happy hour wine is about $6 a glass and I believe the some of the beers are around the same price during happy hour. The poets wrap was delicious! It came in a veggie wrap with chicken, onions, lettuce, bacon, and a speciality sauce. I sat at the bar and was attended to quickly but I did not feel rushed by the bartender. Overall I would definitely come back to stay at the hotel or stop by the cocktail bar again if I have time between my next train.

The decor was sexy and very exclusive, felt like a speakeasy vibes as the decor transported you into another era. It was magical Service was good, our waitress was really helpful with recommending good drinks. This was a post dinner bar visit so we mainly had drinks and added a few treats: colossal shrimp cocktail and warm butter cake. The colossal shrimp cocktail contained some of the largest prawns that I've ever had. They were fresh and perfectly prepared but one was enjoy to fill you up. The warm butter cake was sinfully good! Warm, soft, and sweet. The drinks were AMAZING! I ordered the Recurrence Eternal which contained gin, pear, and champagne. There were other ingredients in there but I wanted to spotlight these few. This was the perfect drink which will creep up on you LOL but it was sooooooooooo good. My boyfriend enjoyed his whiskey drink as well. I have never been splashed in the face during the shaking of a drink that was being made by the bartender. The bartender was of a different race and seemed annoyed by my presence from the jump. I had been splashed in the face twice until a customer of his race came and sat next to me. I did pay attention to his behavior while the woman was seated next to me and his drink mixing wasn't as aggressive. I had to go to the bathroom during my visit and told him I would pay before going to the bathroom so he wouldn't make any assumptions about me. I asked him to keep my drink behind the bar because the woman was still seated next to me. I came back and the woman eventually left. I was still finishing my drink and I was splashed 2 additional times. The last time I made him aware of what he was doing. His apology was disingenuous and passive aggressive. I left after this even though I had intentions on ordering desert and listening to the musicians that were about to get started. I did inform the manager about my experience prior to leaving. I'm leaving the review bc the experience still bothers me. If they have cameras at the bar I'm sure my reaction to the splashing can be observed.

I went an hour early before everyone else was supposed to be there to get on the waitlist, but the wait was until 10 pm!! So I quickly switched gears and called Benny's because I've heard great things about them. The gentlemen who answered the phone was so kind, and was able to squeeze us in on the fly on a Saturday night, and they weren't slow. Got there super early because I was already in the area, and my wife and I decided to have an old fashioned and an espresso martini at the bar while we waited and they were excellent. The ambiance was upscale but still managed to be relaxed and comfortable. We had a lovely dinner, the waiter was busy but was still attentive and patient. Our whole experience was awesome, so we were already going back in the future. Yesterday I realized a mistake on my bank account from the bar charge, so I called around 6 pm and spoke to the same gentlemen as before. He got all my info and promised he'd call back in 5 minutes. I didn't really expect 5 minutes because I know how crazy the dinner rush would be at an Italian restaurant with a Wednesday wine special. Not even 3 minutes later he called back, and explained what happened, fixed it and I got a follow up text immediately letting us know the refund was already in process. Now, I've been in the service industry and I was a bartender, so I understand that I'm going to be a little biased here but from beginning to end Benny's went above and beyond. They clearly appreciate their customers and love their work, it shows.
