Amazing view, and great space that is so classy and whimsical! We came here for my sister and her boyfriend's birthday celebration just for the three of us to go. We ended up going on a night that the pirate show was going on. We almost didn't go to the show since our drinks and dinner was already a bit pricey but last minute decided to do it and started with Pirate Bingo then the live music. I have to say I think that was our favorite part of the entire thing was being able to just hang out. Listen to some cool music and dress up and sing along to sea shanties Now I've drank mead at a couple places across NC- my particular taste is primarily sweet and not super dry. I love trying new mead so of course we got flights to try every single one they had. I'm not sure if it's because of the storm, but they only had four different flavors when we went. A seasonal chai one, a reserve one, traditional and a hibiscus one. Personally, all of them were very dry, and some of them were very bitter, but the flavors were definitely great. I just don't know if I could have a whole glass at a time of it. I did end up buying a bottle of the chai because it was very tasty and the flavor was great and not as dry as the traditional- the traditional was still really great flavor because it tasted exactly like a wildflower honey would. I'm not a personal fan of the reserve flavor, but it was extremely smooth and we liked that aspect. The hibiscus just wasn't my type of flavor but I don't usually drink hibiscus flavored things, but wanted to try it anyway. The bottles are a little bit expensive and I guess I should've asked before just saying that I wanted to get one - the chai was about $40 for one bottle which is more than what I'm used to paying for my bottles of mead but I think, considering the circumstances of the storm hitting as well as them needing to make more money I don't mind it as much. I'm trying to support them. I do kind of wish they would've had prices on their menu for bottles as well. Maybe I missed it. The food itself was pretty decent and their french fries were great. I got a pretty basic burger, but it was tasty. The one massive con is that it's just so far into the mountains that it's hard to get to depending on your location and if you go at night, you have to drive down a miserable mountain with a ton of twist and turns, and by the end of leaving, we all were nauseous (I'm used to flatter land over in east Carolina) I also just wanna say that their events they do are awesome and they definitely are worth it. They do also have fireplaces, which were really nice to be able to stay warm, especially when it was kind of chilly out. We had a great time read more

Amazing Meade bar with awesome views and people. The Pirate parties are a fun time to meet people. Celtic bands are really different and great. (See video) They have Axe throwing, pop up tent events for local artists to sell handmade Celtic jewelry and much more. They even have a tarot card reader occasionally. What a cool unique spot! You really have to see it to experience it for yourself. The decorations are so cool- like a cool old tavern with mystical lights and flowers and big deck in the back overlooking the mountains. Huge area in the back- would be really fun to be there for one of the events they have. We were there on a Saturday and there were multiple vendors set up including a blacksmith. Bartender was nice. Had a mead flight, and probably what I liked best was actually the non alcoholic cider slush - it was delicious. read more

Loved the location and the atmosphere. Really enjoyed the appetizers. Sadly, not a big fan of the mead. Very dry. Maybe I had unrealistic expectations, but I thought it would be sweeter. When someone says Mead, I am there! When we went they only had 3 of theirs and a guest mead. I only tried theirs. A traditional semi-sweet, an elderberry and hibiscus, and lavender mead. The traditional was pretty much a brut and lacked any sweetness. I like bruts, so this was good for me, the elderberry/hibiscus was my favorite, and the lavender was huge on the nose, but pretty bland on the palate. They focus on the more traditional style of meads with all the alcohol to boot. My favorite part was their huge outdoor area which faces the mountains and river and has a large seating area. I can't wait to see where they go and how they grow and go back soon. read more

I was so excited to try Fae Nectar & the meads they offer, so much so- we came back later in the week when they were open- our first try was on Monday and they were closed. The tasting room was playfully decorated and I love our fairy tasting guide, decked out in her pointy ears and cute outfit. The meads were a miss for me. I will say that the entire region just does mead differently than I have tasted in other places. These meads were on draught, so that could be part of it. I am used to a very velvety mouth feel from the honey in meads and I didn't get that. It had more of a cider feel and I didn't love the three different flavors on tap. The lavender was my least favorite. John tried to say it was just different, and it was, but it also wasn't to my taste. I hope they offer more in the future and I hope to try them again next time I am in the area. read more

My wife and I stopped here after a heartbreaking trip to the nearby Flowering Bridge... and thank goodness. On one of the worst days of my life, the view was great, the staff was delightful, and this was the tastiest mead I've ever had. Wanting something light to eat, I got the veggie sandwich, and it was outstanding. Well seasoned, well balanced. We got a mead flight. The Lavender was dry and complex, and I ADORED it. My wife's favourite was the Hibiscus Slushie. Both were lightly sweetened, and I've found, for the first time, that I vastly prefer this kind of mead to the cloying, syrupy kinds I've had from many a meadery. ...The nerd in me was madly in love with the Lavender mead, but with food, I went with a full glass of the Traditional. Aside from that, ...lovely surroundings, nerdy music, good company, friendly and competent staff. Although I live a thousand miles away, I will someday return to Lake Lure, ...a resting place of two of my dearest loved ones, and when I do, I will drink fine mead and throw axes, and it will be good. read more

Unique! Has the potential to be a local gem. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Far Nectar. While mead is not my go to I did like it and they have other offerings including draft and canned beer and wine. I had the mead flight and all were solid and tasty. What was even better was the atmosphere which was spot on. They had a duo playing pirate music on a hurdy gurdy and violin. I've never seen anything like it. "Free hot dogs" on a rolling heater, board games, a sprawling outdoor area with plenty of seating and fire pit. What an unusual and fun time. We will be back and anyone visiting Lake Lure/Chimney Rock should stop here at least one night. read more

my newlywed husband and I spontaneous stopped by for a flight. the service was amazing and very personable. I loved the aesthetic and i had thought that I only had preference for wine but their mead and cider were so good and changed my mind!
