This is right outside my neighborhood! I always noticed trucks labeled Vietnam Veteran of America…read morewith a phone number on it so I decided to call them to donate. I called to arrange a pickup and to my surprise it brought me to the Red, white, and blue. I had wayyyyy too many boxes and bags to make multiple trips so their truck service came in handy! The lady that was helping me set up the appointment for pick up and told me to leave everything on my porch. I had to make sure to label it VVA. She was familiar with my house because her son lives 3 houses down. Great people and easy to work with.

I was hunched down on my knees, looking at books on the very bottom shelf. Not an easy feat when your over 55 yrs old. While I was looking, a heard a "excuse me" above me. A employee standing over me. So I said "yes?" And all she said was "excuse me" again and made some hand gestures. So apparently she wanted to put more books on the shelf above me, never-ending the other 5 other shelves of books they had. Not even a thankyou or anything. Just a snotty look. We wont be back this location anytime soon.

Now I'm a big thrift store junkie, especially since I'm trying to lose weight and don't want to…read morespend much money on clothes. This Salvation Army by far has a wonderful selection of furniture. Even when I don't need furniture (I'm big about reducing, reusing, recycling and have sanded down a table by hand and varnished it etc.) I still take a look. They also have a reasonable book selection and being the book lover that I am I can be a bit gluttonous when it comes to books. I mean, who can pass up a book by Maureen Dowd that says "Are Men Necessary?" I bought it because it made me laugh (the feminist woman that I am, don't worry guys, I still love ya'll but it is a pretty funny title). Then there was the one that intrigued me entitled "The Year of Living Biblically." I'm a good ol' Catholic Filipina lady and the idea of someone trying to live as literal as possible from the bible cracks me up! Especially since the bible was written by how many people? Don't get me started on Theology. Anywho, back to my review. I have bought many dresses and skirts in this location. I still think the Goodwill on Tulane Ave. is cheaper but hey, this is my second go to spot. There is also a huge selection of guy stuff. I like looking at the bric a brac as well. The donation site is the next building over and the people are quite friendly. I've donated a papasan chair (imagine that round chair in Cost Plus World Market that you think is comfy but you end up falling out of, well I kept falling out of it! hehe) and other items. They are very efficient and help you unload your car as well as politely asking if you want a tax deduction receipt. There is a convenient parking lot and it's across from Lowe's. Plus it's near Crabby Jack's which is delish but never open when I want to go! hehe

As soon as I walked in the door I was threatened by the security guard. She stated that if I don't want to sleep outside tonight I needed to get on the back side of the table

This location is absolutely no different. You walk into it, and you know you're in an Out of the Closet. In terms of what they have to offer, they offer what all Out of the Closet stores present, high-end vintage clothing. The clothing they offer is very well curated and you know you're going to get something nice. Sure, you may be able to find something similar at a thrift store for a cheaper price, but there's no guarantees. And, there's certainly no guarantee that you're going to find a high-quality item of that something that you want in a specific style and format like you can at Out of the Closet. All Out of the Closets locations offer a very nice selection of both men's and women's clothing. Plus, they all have tons of shoes. This one is no different. Like all Out of the Closets, sometimes you find what you're looking for and sometimes you may find something really great that you never even expected that you wanted. And, sometimes you're going to find nothing at all. That's just the name of the game. So, if you're on Magazine Street, and you want to take a shot and grab that really interesting piece of vintage clothing, this may be your place to do it.
