I contacted Coast Riders Powersports about a part/accessory and provided my VIN after being told…read morethey'd look it up. I never received a callback. When I followed up, I was told they don't carry it, and then it was implied it might be "somebody else," but I wasn't given the aftermarket company/vendor info to actually solve the problem. I understand not carrying a part -- that's fine -- but taking a VIN and then not following up, and not providing a clear referral, wasted my time. If you're going to collect info for a lookup, I'd expect either a return call or a direct lead on where to get it. Hi Coast Riders Powersports, Just wanted to say thanks for getting back to me and pointing me toward a few different places to find the part. I appreciate you taking the time to help me get unstuck. Thanks again, Antonio

They came to my aid when I needed help and got me sorted and back on the road. I highly recommend the team at Coast Riders for any service, repair or accessory shopping needs for your motorcycle or scooter. Last October 14, 2024 I attempted to ride solo over 1000 miles in under 21 hours via the Nevada Desert and the Sonora Pass. Basically a fun, but serious challenge for which I prepared for by mounting new tires on my motorcycle the week before the attempt. I'm not from San Luis Obispo, but towards the end of epic my ride, I found myself stranded in Pismo Beach with a nail in my brand new rear tire after 900 miles of continuous riding over 19 hours. Yikes. At this point I was cold, wet and tired and it was 10 pm at night. I managed to limp the bike into Pismo Beach, Ca on the rear flat. I I decided to get a hotel room and sort out my problem in the morning. My rear tire was destroyed. The next morning, I found Coast Riders Powersports on the web and gave them a call to see if I could, possibly, buy a new tire and get it mounted quickly. They were great....and totally reassuring. The office manager understood my problem and my need to get my bike back on the road quickly to get home (and to get back to work!). The Coast Team had a tire in stock and gave me a great deal. They cleared their schedule and opened up a service rack to, really, a total stranger who was broken down on the road. I received the best service. So I had AAA load my bike and the AAA trailer and transported it 13 miles to the Coast Riders very nice Work Shop located in San Luis Obispo. Coast Riders took care of everything and had me back on the road in less than 4 hours after I first phoned them to ask for help. I strongly recommend Coast Riders Powersport to for all of your motorcycle needs. Scott V. Santa Barbara, CA

We called ahead to see if they had a KTM SX-50 Factory Edition in stock and were really excited…read morewhen they confirmed they did. We completed the paperwork online, and a few days later made the long drive out to Santa Barbara (we're not locals). We arrived close to closing time, but the staff was still incredibly welcoming and helpful. They didn't rush us at all and even took the time to fully inspect the bike with us before letting us take it home. I don't usually have the best experiences at dealerships, but this one was genuinely a pleasant surprise. The whole process felt smooth, straightforward, and honestly stress-free--which is rare in my experience.

I had a very disappointing experience with Wheels in Motion of Santa Barbara. The issue wasn't…read moreabout the money--it was about integrity. I purchased a 2024 KTM 1290 Adventure R with the understanding that it included a 15% discount on the Tech Pack and heated grips. When I inspected the bike before taking delivery, I immediately noticed there were no heated grips installed. I asked Erik, my salesman, where they were, and he claimed he didn't remember us ever discussing them. After my test ride, Erik told me, "Let's load it up," and said he'd speak with his manager. When I asked again about the heated grips, he shook my hand and told me, "We'll ship them to you." I asked for something in writing, and he assured me to come inside because they'd take care of it. About 30 minutes later, he came back and completely changed his story, saying they never had that conversation and there was nothing he could do. I then spoke with Steve, the sales manager. He told me he could usually tell when his salespeople weren't being truthful and assured me he would make it right. He said he would contact Clawson Honda in Fresno to have heated grips installed and gave me his word that he'd handle it the next day. A few days later, I called Steve for an update. He told me he needed to speak with Carl, the general manager, and that Carl would call me the following day. That call never came. About a week later, I contacted Carl myself. He asked what it would take to make things right, and I explained that I simply wanted the heated grips that both Erik and Steve had already promised me. About 30 minutes later, Carl called back and said that "based on the facts," there was nothing they could do. The heated grips cost around $200. Instead of honoring the commitments made by both the salesperson and sales manager, the dealership chose to lose a customer over a relatively small expense. Mistakes happen. What matters is how a business handles them. I wasn't upset that the grips weren't installed--I was disappointed that three different levels of management reassured me they would make it right, only to backtrack on their promises. If integrity and standing behind your word matter to you, I would think carefully before doing business with Wheels in Motion Santa Barbara.
