I have come here twice now to get my tire tube replaced after running over thorns. The service staff have been very helpful and friendly both times. The prices are decent, and the staff provide a specific breakdown upfront about what they are charging you for, which I appreciate. For a tire tube replacement, they estimate it will take 15 minutes so they encourage you to wait. I waited not even 10 minutes and my bike was ready to go. We travelled from Ottawa Canada to Victoria B.C to Tucson...with our bikes...distance thousands of miles. In Tucson for 6 weeks...then the unthinkable happened..bi Bicycle was stolen.after 1week. Went to Fair wheels looking for replacement and not wanting to spend big dollars. Dealt with staff in particular MIKE who was absolutely a gift from heaven. He could not have been more attentive,sympathetic and understanding of our situation. He took the time to show us a number of options in the way of replacements. It was like mom and dad were helping us out of a jam. That's a compliment. In time we both realized Mike and myself that we were unable to crunch the right numbers. He then suggested an alternate option for us.... He sent us to another location hoping that it would meet our short term needs. A rider on the Loop told me if you need work on your bike, Fair Wheel Bikes is the place to go. I walked in with a tubeless wheel that was slowly leaking air through the valve stem. After re-taping it twice with no resolution, I decided to take it to Fair Wheel. The mechanic took it right away, let me know my tape was too narrow, and re-taped and re-inflated the tire without spilling one drop sealant. I was super impressed. Called to make appt for new brake lines to be installed and Patrick was super arrogant on phone said could not work on vintage Trek too old. Rude, sexist, mechanics would not make appointment. I had used this shop for 20 years suddenly these jerk mechanics are permitted by owner to brush me off. Evidently only competition or new bikes are now welcomed. Macho, jerks now run this shop. I took my Specialized Vado e-bike to Fair Wheels because the computer readout was not working. They quickly tried a number of fixes (updates, battery, connections) and had no luck. They coninued to diligently and persistently research and work to get to the root cause - app update, connection, and reading. This was a unique problem that they rarely deal with and I appreciated their help. Then they changed an incredibly reasonable rate. While they have customers from a wide range of ages, backgrounds and abilities, they are patient and accommodating to older customers as well. (Something that isn't always guaranteed in athletic oriented shops). The maintenance Department is also great. Fair Wheel is my favorite bike shop in town. I've been using them since I got into the sport and I've always been treat well. I primarily road bike, but they offer road, mountain, gravel, commuter, etc. They offer great brands like specialized, trek, and factor and many others. They can do some awesome custom builds for those that really want a light bike or something extra special. I've personally had two custom builds by them and it's been a pleasure to work with them. I wanted to see this shop, as their commercials and website was well done. I refrain from vising anyplace near downtown, as parking is difficult at best. They have their own handy parking lot. Glad I did. I wan't in the market for another bike. I was treated very well.. considering I was, just looking. They have a nice assortment of accessories not usually found in a neighborhood shop. I was pleasantly surprised when the tech took my sick, leaky wheel in to diagnose right away during a busy Saturday. He correctly diagnosed the problem and made good recommendations on repair alternatives. He quickly did the fix we agreed on and I was out the door in about 1/2 hour. Amazing! I got my back tire stolen and they put a rim and tire on which simply doesn't fit. It takes 20 min and an absurd amount of elbow grease to put on and off after I get a flat while the other one I can do in less than 3 minutes. I've taken it in and be like "look it's not supposed to be like this" and they agree that no it is not. However if I want it fixed I need to drop 100$ on a new rim and tire. Furthermore that tire goes flat an insane amount. The front one has not gone flat since I got the new back tire while the back tire has gone flat over 10 times. The chances of that being coincidence are less than 1000 to one but I still need to give them 100 to fix their mistake. Absolutely atrocious and go to RC bicycles behind them next to the laundromat they've been solid every time. I would give 0 stars if I could. read more

I test rode two bikes in the morning at (UN)Fair Wheels Bikes and was assured by a young sales person that he would hold the bike I liked for me until 5 pm. I returned at 4:20 pm to make the purchase and the bike I had on hold was out on a test ride. When the bike returned, another, older sales person told the male cyclist he could have it. I asserted that the bike was on hold for me until 5 pm, and the sales person said, "Sorry, first come first served." I said I had been there first, in the morning, and he replied, "But your were not here first now." I don't know if this is sexism, ageism, or just attitude-ism, but this is BAD BUSINESS. There's an Employee there name, Garett and he needs to be fired for being extremely rude!!! . He screamed "fucking idiot" to my father in front of staff and customers. My dad tried to even tip him before this incident happened. right from the beginning he "had it out for us". Completely rude about everything, completely rude about asking question, completely rude in giving answers or even helping out! We were trying to have small talk with him, wouldn't even make eye contact, wouldn't even really acknowledge us, even thought he was working on my bike. Had a bike tube develop a hole and went in to get it replaced at Fair Wheel bikes. Tried to explain the situation and was abruptly told "it'll be 16$ to fix it", while I wanted to talk about different options of tubes maybe a sturdier tube than the standard or upgrading to a tubeless tires. They just wanted me in and out. Anyways, after getting a new tube put in, they said they adjusted the tire pressure to match the back and I thanked them and rode home. The same day, the tire tube developed another hole (Tucson roads suck, hence why I wanted to inquire about sturdier options) and didn't hold air anymore so again I had to walk my bike home from work. Their hours on the website say they are open from 12-4 on sundays, so I planned to go back and explain the situation and hoped they would replace it as it should've lasted longer than a day (a couple hours to be exact). I walked my bike the 2 miles from my house back to their shop only to find out they are closed on Sunday :( . RC Bikes is right around the corner and is open every day of the week. Would highly recommend them over Fair Wheel any day! They listened to the issues I was having and listed different options that I could get and I ended up going with a heavy duty tube that's lasted me to today and I expect it to last me for a while longer! read more

The two gentleman who greeted me in the front earned at least one star. Friendly enough and quick to offer help. My issue with fair wheel is with the service department. I was in over a month ago and it has taken this long for me to fully comprehend what happened. I was looking to have my bike overhauled, using the frame that had been build for me. I am a avid tourer and after ten years was excited for an upgrade on all of the components. In no way to I believe to know everything about the mechanics of bicycles, I do know enough though. I had done my research, knowing roughly what I was hoping to get and a list of question I was hoping to have answered ( or at least receive suggestions). What I was met with was arrogance and aggression. Dear Man with the mustache, 1- Do not talk down to women. 2- When the customer tells you what they want, do it. Or tell them you will be unable to. 3- If you are hungry and on your lunch break, do not blame the customer. Your coworker asked you for help. 4- Do not pull measurements and prices out of you (rear). You will be called out by your coworker and said customer for being wrong. 5- Practice customer service. I have worked in retail long enough to know that these reviews are used for entertainment most often by the businesses. If you remember me you will probably be referring to me by some derogatory slang and laugh it off. I also know that money means something to owners. I almost left my bike there assuming like so many women that I deserved to be treated like that. Instead, I took my bike to Sabino Cycles. Without hesitation they did exactly what I asked for. I have my dream bike back. I donated the old components and someone else will have there dream bike too. I am fortunate to have the money to spend $2,500 on a bike, and grateful none of it went to fair wheel. read more

I go to Fair Wheel for tire changes mostly (because I am lazy), and the odd tune-up, but I am also in there pretty regularly to get some air in my tires. Given that I'm not a spendy or knowledgeable customer I really appreciate how friendly and helpful the staff are. Every time I take my bike in for something I get help quickly and they go over options (and prices) with me right then and there so I know what's going on. They're very instructive without being condescending too, so I feel perfectly comfortable asking questions. They've even taken care of some quick safety stuff on my bike (for free) when I come in to air up my tires. I've been in other bike shops in town where apparently I'm not hipster enough or rich enough to get decent help so I really appreciate how comfortable it is to go in there. read more

We moved to Tucson and stored our bikes in the backyard. After a few years took them to Fair Wheels to get tuned-up and found out they were somewhat valuable (Japanese racing bikes.) Brought them home and now stored them in a locked shed. Within a week we were broken into and the only things taken were the bikes....strange? I was in Tucson for work and brought my bike instead of renting a car. I ended up stopping here twice once for a tail light and again for a tube and pump. Dudes were helpful and friendly both times. It was close to closing time, but one guy took the time to patiently explain the Loop trail. I rode the loop trail the next day and his description was spot on, even within a couple of tenths of a mile in estimating the distance from my hotel back to my hotel. Just had a really bad experience. I needed to replace one of the tire of my bike, so I went in with the old tire. The cashier came back with one tire and saying "this is the closest size we got". So I was hesitating. Maybe he noticed that and started saying "it's exactly the same". So I didn't think too much. Guess what, when I was trying to change the tire, it's small. It's too small. It's too small. This reflects a few things, it's either their employees don't know sufficient about bikes, or their employees only care about making money even knowing it's the wrong size. They just don't care about wasting your time as long as there is a chance they will profit from this. Anyway, just go to another bike shop. read more

I have been going to fair wheels for the last few years, always satisfied with service. My husband brought in his bike, it's a bike from the 90's that they call a"trick bike. He bought it from a young guy. Used it for many years and rode well. My husband has done many long rides on this bike. He hadn't used it for a couple of years and decided to bring it in to fair wheels through my recommendation and it's local. We had brought it in together and it rode well. The guy put it on a stand looked it over and said a few things needed to be done, but worth the fix. It was there for 3 weeks, decided to call, they said they haven't gotten to it. My husband decided to pick it up. He came home and they told him the hub on the back wheel is broken. There was no broken hub when we brought it in. Someone did start because it needed new tubes, the tires were flat, and they weren't when we brought it in.They said they never touched it. They were rude and not very professional. Told my husband to get out. Will never go back! They said my husband was deranged and senile, absolutely absurd! I wouldn't even give it one star but had to do the review would post. read more

I purchased a bike for around $400 to get to my classes this year, and after the first ride, the front wheel popped off after riding it for no more than 100 ft. I went back to the store to get this issue fixed and they hesitantly fixed it for free since it was my first ride. But after my literal 3rd or 4th ever ride on the bike the wheel popped off again. I take it back down to their store and they decide to charge me for the repairs AND the new parts. As a college student who can't afford to be late for the first couple of weeks of classes, I need to have a functioning bike to make it to my classes. Also, nobody can afford to get a brand-new bike repaired every couple of rides. I'm super displeased and I DON'T RECOMMEND ANY STUDENTS GET A BIKE FROM HERE. Honestly, the Walmart bike I have at home was more reliable than this, just get one of those. Don't make the same mistake I did of buying a bike from these guys, and I'll update again when the wheel decides to fall off on the next ride smfh. read more

I had a great experience with staff and store. I brought my bike in to get my derailers adjusted and get new tires and tubes put on it. I came in on a Friday and didnt expect my bike to be ready until at least the following Monday. They had my bike ready later that same day and I picked it up the following day. Price was better than I expected as well. I cannot remember the employee's name, but he served me both days and was very polite and professional. Really friendly and helpful staff. Went in a few times for different things like a tune up and a flat tire. Every time I walked into the Bike Repair section they acknowledged me and helped me right away, even when I could tell they were busy with a lot of things. They also get the job done quick and for good prices. Best of all I'm in and out of the shop in 20 minutes, usually (if it's not too busy). They give me honest advice instead of trying to up-sell me and have a real knowledgeable staff.
