For years I have drove past here but never stoped, but when I ran into a problem trying to put together my daughters bike that I ordered online separate from here, they were immediately willing to help me. I called ahead to see if it was something they can do and they were very helpful over the phone and said they totally can help and quoted me a price of what it would be. I brought in the bike and I was blown away by how many awesome bikes are here. The staff were friendly and immediately assisted with fixing the handlebars. They ended up doing it free of charge for me which was extremely kind. They've got a wide variety of road bikes, mountain bikes, recumbent etc. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and were able to answer all of my questions. I came here to get my Specialized branded hybrid bike repaired. The owner of this place works in the bike shop and is a fantastic person all around. Incredibly knowledgeable about bikes. During my first visit, they quoted me a repair cost of around $120, and stated that it would take about a month to repair it because I had come at the beginning of their busy season. However, they finished it in about a week early, and charged me a little bit extra for parts (about $7). Upon leaving, I found the seat a little too high, and the repairman took care of it very quickly. The only bad thing I can say about this place is that many of the items they have for sale are marked up around 20% more in comparison to some other places. But then again, if you are someone who tries to support local like me, this will not be much of a bother. Overall, I came away very impressed with the professionalism of the staff, and the quality of the items they had for sale in the shop. I would highly recommend coming here for all of your biking needs. read more

Drove to Ajo Bikes for my first visit on 12/1/2020 at 3:00 on a Tuesday, to learn about recumbent trikes. I'm a 71 year old male, good looking...oops; I thought this was a dating site for a minute. I'm experienced with road and mountain bikes, but knew almost nothing about recumbents. It was a busy shop, but within one minute of walking in the door I was approached by the salesperson named Kris. He was very knowledgable, professional, and friendly. He asked me questions to learn why I came in, and to get a sense of my experience with bikes. He was a good listener and provided many opportunities for me to talk about my needs and preferences. When I asked about a test ride, he was all in favor of the idea, and explained how the trikes work, and what to be careful about. I test rode 3 different trikes--the Catrike Villager, the Catrike 559, and the ICE Adventure HD--riding them extensively around their large parking lot area. He rode with me some times, but other times not, and he answered my many questions about differences in various models. When riding together I was able to ask about what I was experiencing in the test ride, which was very helpful: "Why is the bike doing this?", "Why does this steering feel different?", etc. Other times it was nice to ride alone. I switched back and forth between the different bikes. It was a VERY POSITIVE experience, thanks largely to Kris, who made me feel totally comfortable the entire time. The 2 and a half hour visit couldn't have been better, and the customer service from Kris was top notch. I drove away with a very good feeling about Ajo Bikes, and more importantly with the knowledge necessary for me to look at recumbents online to determine which brands and features are a good match for me. I plan to visit Ajo Bikes again soon with followup questions and to purchase a recumbent trike. read more

This is the worst bike store I have ever been in. We were visiting Tucson and had a flat on our bikes. We are from Washington and don't have the same cactus issues :) Anyway we brought our bike in and the staff there only had negative things to say about my brand of bike. It is a $1,500 bike but they were very vocal in their dislike of the brand. From the desk person who came out to the car to look at the problem, but not offering to take the bike out and tire off - to the repair woman who did the work. It was extremely unprofessional. We asked about slime for the tires but they couldn't be bothered. I would never use this shop again. read more

Flew to Tucson from Denver with my beautiful new Trek Madone with a tubeless set up and when I got to Tucson realized I needed a shop close to get my sealant replenished and air! I had my hand pump, put in as much air as I could and rode the 3.5 miles to this place. I am very happy they were the closest to my hotel. They were AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I went to Ajo Bikes looking for a Trike. Ready to pay cash for a new Catrike. The one I was looking for had been sold. They sold me a used one for a good chunk of money, told me it would be ready at 3:00pm. they were supposed to go over it and make sure it was in great shape for riding. I didn't actually get it handed over until 4:30pm. The tecnician did not know how to properly shorten the chain. The bike kept hanging up and not shifting properly. The technician kept riding the bike around the parking lot and could have damaged it badly. When we got it home my Husband had to rework the entire Trike, shorten the chain, readjust everything. Very shoddy service. I should have realized and gone elsewhere. There are other shops who sell Trikes just not as close. The sales people and the master mechanic had an attitude. The work area is dirty and unorganized, The shop itself is very dirty. Not like the shops I am used to going into. This technician also was riding my Trike around with tires low in air. they didn't even put air in the tires for me to take it home. Needless to say I will never go back. read more

Ajo bikes came through for me after a slow repair start on my diamondback electric bike. I bought a 48v lithium replacement battery for $550 from them but the bike still didn't work. After about 10 days of the bike At their store awaiting more parts, they figured out a further repair and part total of about $620 more was needed. This made no sense on a 3 yr old bike for which I paid $1000 elsewhere, so owner Brian allowed me to apply the battery purchase towards a new electric bike at a fair price. Left happy. read more

Ajo Bikes has been around for some time now. I built a lowrider bike from scratch in like 1995 and bought many of the parts there. Back in the day, the store was an old Circle K that they had taken over and you would buy your grips and stuff out of the old coolers... super rad. I went back to Ajo today for the first time since they moved locations and they are even better than before... First of all, Ajo is a great store for BMXers. If you want a number plate for your dirt bike... they got it. How many bike shops do these days? Not too many. Great thing about BMX supplies, is that they are often good parts for fixed gear builds. Grips, cranks, bars, chainrings, headsets... all that crap. Great selection here. Next, Ajo Bikes is still the best store in town for lowrider parts. Mini-daytons, huge apehangers, sweet ass tires, dice valve caps, twisted sissy bars... all here. They also have a big service department with fixie knowledge and some of the best complete bikes for sale around town. Like word tricycles and old school cruisers as well as single speeds and roadies. Bottom line: can't beat em for the price, selection, and name... c'mon GARLIC MFers!!!! read more
