Nigel took time to really guide me through the rental process and ensure that I got the right bike with the right setup for my needs. Rented a bike for the weekend and got great suggestions for routes, which I ended up taking. I believe Elliot helped me both check out the bike as well as check back in, even taking me after business hours on a Sunday. I was contemplating renting a bike travel carrier but for convenience Roadrunner Bikes can't be beat! One star because the employee that waited on me came out to curbside (at my request as I am high risk for Covid-19), with his mask around his chin exposing me to his nasal spray. I asked him to pull his mask up and he did, but because it was not properly tied, it slipped right back down. When I repeated my request that he cover his nose, he became offensive. He blurted out that I was being rude. He refused to take in a pair of bike wheels for an additional job I wanted to offer him. I went to four local businesses today. This was the only place that did not show the most basic courtesy to mask up properly. There is a sign on the door requesting customers to wear a mask but I observed from the curb, people in the shop with improper masks. I won't shop here again. read more

I'm from out of town and wanted to rent a bike for the loop. Got a good quality Giant brand bike in my size with a 105 groupset for a very reasonable price. Talked to 3 different employees there and all were nice, helpful and knowledgable. Would reccomend to anyone. read more

Wow! What a great bike shop! They didn't even have what we were looking for because of bike shortages everywhere, but the customer service was outstanding. They are still requiring masks as of 5/31 to make sure that EVERYONE feels safe coming in. We've been in almost every bike shop in Tucson over the last couple of weeks, and they are the only ones we've seen doing this. We have kids that haven't been fully vaccinated yet, so it meant a lot to us. As a female rider, I loved seeing a woman working in the shop. Both of the employees on site today went out of their way to help us by answering all of our questions and searching through upcoming shipments to see if anything that is coming in might work for us. Not high pressure, just very accommodating. We will be back when more bikes come in. They also do test rides and rentals. read more

I walked into Roadrunner 3 times over the course of a week. I was looking at bikes from different businesses and learning a lot. The staff were very pleasant, answered all of my questions, and setup a handful of different bikes and frame sizes to ride. I found the perfect bike and ordered it. I was told it would show up in 3 days and they would call me when it was ready. I received a call at 10am, on the 3rd day, and the bike was ready as promised. I unfortunately had a bad first experience with this shop. I had arrived in Tucson on Thursday evening the 17th to visit family. My Mt. Bike had come loose on the way and I had to dismantle and put it in the car. Preparing for my ride the next morning I found there to be some front disc brake issues. I rode to this shop and arrived at opening. There were only two employees and I there. I explained the issue and that I was in from out of town and rode to their shop. The man in charge there told me he could look at it and get it back to me that afternoon, as he was making his pour over coffee. I would have had to get an Uber back to grandmas. I again asked if he could please just check it real quick, and he replied he couldn't because real quick would turn into 30mins to and hour. I left extremely disappointed and called Sabino Cycles who told me to come right over. Sabino Cycles was very busy with customers and the mechanics were working on several bikes. They were super helpful and understanding! The gentleman took my bike, made a quick brake adjustment and I was out riding again In 10min's!!! So if you are in need and want a little help and understanding Run like a RoadRunner over to Sabino Cycles, fantastic customer service, fantastic mechanics not to mention just a great shop in general!!! read more

I had to get a new bike. (My bike got crunched while on the bike rack of the bus when a driver turned left in front of us.) These guys are still as great as ever. Superb service, competent, honest, knowledgeable, helpful. Prices are competitive. Quality of Giant bikes are great. I got a Giant Defy 5 road bike. Really, really nice. I compared the ride to a Trek 1.1. I liked the Giant better. Bikes are a very personal preference, though, of course. Just be aware that Giant manufactures probably 90% of the frames of the world's bikes, making them for Trek, Bontrager, Specialized, etc., etc., etc. But if you want great service at a fair price, come to Roadrunner Bicycles. They are a 25 minute drive for me, but worth it. read more

Went in to look for a women's bike used and Aaron showed us what he had and answered our questions. He was very nice and put the bike up on the rack and checked brakes etc. we got a good price on a trek and I'm looking forward to get out on the biking trails again. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS. I took my bike to RR 3 weeks ago to get the flat front tire fixed and to do a tune up, including an adjustment on the breaks. One the things they convinced me to do was to switch both tubes to a more resistant one they had. Finally, on June 17 they called me to pick it up. On the very next day, after riding the bike in the morning, the front as flat again. I also noticed the breaks were not touched. I had a pump, so I was able to get home and I decided not to ride it again until I was sure the tire was fine. Yesterday, I rode it to work and guess what? Front tire flat one more time. Today I rode it (the tire got there flat again) to RR and asked them what happened. After a quick examination, the answer was: thorns!!! They found a very small one. I couldn't believe. asked if the thorns were responsible for the flat tires all the time and they said "yes". Funny that only the front tire was affected. The back tire was fine. Then the absurd happened: they would fix it but would charge me again!!!! So, the "stronger" tube they said they would install had exactly the same performance as the original one! These guys are crooks! They never did the job they were hired for. They never changed the tubes and never did the tune in. Another customer got there and when he left, I overheard the RR guys laughing and saying, "he will be back tomorrow, and we will charge him again". So, that's what they do: they promise a service, never do it and charge you twice, taking advantage of their customers during this time of crisis. I have been taking my families bike to Roadrunner for many years. But I can no longer recommend them, and we will not be taking our business there ever again. It seems that the shop is now being run by young adults with no idea what customer service is, let a lone knowing how to adjust a and tune up a bicycle. I noticed upon pick up that the chain was not moving freely and it was making a click sound. Of course I mentioned it right away. We were told that they didn't hear the noise and it was rolling as it should. I argued the point for a bit. Seeing that they were not going to fix their shoddy work, we decided to take our business else ware. read more

Just did a 24-hour mountain bike rental for $35. 2nd day would have dropped to $28. Fairly sure a week's rental would have been even a better deal per day. Hooked me up w/ a new $300 bike and included a nice repair kit, and a map w/ all the bike routes. Friendly and helpful. Only thing I didn't really like was that he stressed bringing the bike back clean a little more than I liked. Thought he meant not to bring it back filthy, but when I stopped by in the evening w/ dust, not dirt, he mentioned it again. I made sure it was clean when I returned it the next day, but figured the bike shop should take care of that. After all, it was a mountain bike in the desert, and dirt & dust come with the territory. read more

Great service, knowledgeable staff, and why local businesses are awesome. Look I am all for chains and all for local businesses but when it comes to bike shops GO LOCAL. I stopped in at lunch today asked a couple questions to get a feel for their know how and brought my bike in later today. Service = 10 Stars Personable, friendly, helpful, caring, and low pressure. I have never felt so relaxed spending money and will definitely be back. Selection = Great They have lots of bikes, reasonable prices, a decent accessory selection, and from the signs they even rent bikes. Prices = Great They are competitively priced and even if they are a little higher I would pay more just for their level of service and to keep such a great place open. My bike was fixed, a plan for tire replacement was created, and I even finally bought a pump that is worth a crap...great experience will be back and I will send friends. read more

They kindly helped me out when I found myself at work at the end of the day with a tire that had gone flat and no pump. it was great to be able to come in just needing some air and be treated like a valued customer and not a nuisance. Since then I come in with lots of little maintenance jobs which they have handled easily and inexpensively. Today they managed to true up (and basically save) a wheel that was badly out of round from neglected maintenance. This was an expensive wheel with an electric hub and without their help I would have had to ship it back to the manufacturer for repair. I haven't bought a bike from them as I have enough bikes already, but the staff here come across as pretty straight shooters. I don't think they would steer you wrong. read more

I recently had hip replacement surgery. Despite having not ridden a bike in 30 years I figured it was a good way to build up my strength. When I explained my situation to Elliot he picked out a bike for me to try out. As soon as I started to ride it I felt great. I could tell it was the perfect bike for me and just what I was looking for, even though I had no clue what that even was. Elliot is insightful, knowledgeable, a great teacher, and overall good people. He showed me how to change a flat tire step by step, never once coming across as being in a hurry. I don't know anything about the details of the Giant Cypress DX 15" bike I just bought. I do know that I will definitely return to Roadrunner Bicycles if and when it is necessary. I really like this place. I just got a bike here, and while I was shopping around I noticed lots of other customers come through, of all kinds; an older fellow with a funky compact bike, a pair of beautiful young women, a young man who seemed wound-up a little too tight, a trio of Mormon missionaries, and several others, and everyone got the same good service. This is despite the fact that it was very busy and they were all doing several things at once: fixing bikes, answering calls, etc. I don't know how they do it, honestly, but I was very impressed. It is not a huge shop, but they had bikes of just about every category on the floor: road and tri bikes, mountain bikes, cruisers, hybrids, etc. They were doing a ton of service work, and it all seemed very reasonable, and lots of repeat customers were coming in to drop off or pick things up. I have pretty bad social anxiety, so I almost didn't leave the house this morning, but I'm glad I did! If *I* feel comfortable someplace, you know it's a friendly place :) read more

The Fuji with comfortable saddle and carbon fork was perfectly tuned - precise gear shifting, well trued wheels, clean chain and bike. Saddle bag came with two tubes and CO2 and a multi tool. I brought my bike in on Sunday to get a tuneup. I was told the bike should be ready by Wednesday and that was just fine. Before I even got home I received a call that the bike was ready. The person explained that other bikes needed parts on order so they just moved to the next bike for service, which was mine. On Monday I came in to pick up the bike and it was ready to go, except for a problem with the wheel. I explained the problem and asked him to take a look at it. Over the next 40 minutes Sean and Aaron both rode the bike tightened down different components made adjustments and finally figured out that the problem was the tension of the spokes. It turned out that one spoke did not have enough tension and that was causing the recurring crunching sound I heard as I rode the bike. Both guys went out of their way to figure out the problem and make it good. I had some very good bicycling conversations with both of them. Now, this is the second bike that I have bought from Roadrunner and have been coming into the shop for eight years. My experience tonight was really good because they were willing to spend the extra time talking with me, finding the problem and fixing it. I was most satisfied. read more

I heard about Road Runner Bikes from a friend. I decided to call and inquire about a hybrid bike. I spoke to a person who I understood later to be one of the owners like the son of the family that owns Road Runner. I asked about a bike in my budget range of about $500. He didn't even bother to ask me to come down and take a look at some bikes. instead he said "we only carry bikes that are $1000 and up." Which if you look at their web site is not true. Can't stand bike snobs! I highly recommend Ajo Bikes! very friendly staff, service and no bike snobs! read more

A few days ago I wrote a terrible review on Roadrunner bicycles. That was so wrong then I'll explain. I had been working profusely on my bike for the past couple weeks. And it was just one of those deals where nothing was going right. In the things I purchased online were wrong. Then I met two of the nicest guys that run a cool little bike shop. Called roadrunners I had purchase some brake levers and brake cables for my bike and when I got home there was no brake cable. And that was my fault. I blamed Elliot for not putting the brake cable in my bag. But I actually never really told him I needed a break cable and I wasn't charged for one. So I want to make it clear. They're good guys they run a nice shop. And I would not hesitate to a business with them. read more

We rented five bikes the day after Christmas. Bikes were in great shape and the shop took the time to ensure they were a good fit. We were shown a safe route toward the loop--about 4 miles mostly through residential streets--and then had a wonderful ride along the wash. We kept the bikes overnight so we could ride the next morning. Great experience overall. read more

My bike got hit last night and the rear tire was mangled. I was worried because my wheels are an uncommon size, but Roadrunner had the size I needed, replaced it lickety split, didn't break my bank account and even offered free trueing after I take it for a spin for a couple of weeks. I went in on 5/29 around 2:30 pm. I am in the market for a mountain bike and wanted to see if there was a preowned market. I believe there were 3 employees working and 1 customer with me being the second. A young man showed me a Giant LIV. He was preoccupied with his buddies (employees) not sure. I tried to ask a few questions and was actually ignored. I realized that I was not a priority and got frustrated and just left. I have $2500 to $3000 to spend but I can assure you it won't be there. I simply went in to pick up the free lock for taking the Pima County Traffic Skills 101 Bike class & Mechanics class. The employee Sunday afternoon, April 15th, was helpful, fast, & friendly, & very encouraging of my plan to live to over 117. A glance around the store showed a good assortment of bikes for all ages & abilities, including rentals. The bike racks in front of the store could use an upgrade, but any bike locked there was clearly visible from inside ... something that needs improvement around Tucson. If I ever again get a question about bike rentals from a car full of New Yorkers (or anywhere else), I'll send them to Roadrunner. read more
