Attended a nine day class in Bradenton earlier this year. 20 years ago this area was not a tourist destination or even a place where Floridian's would travel to for in state vacationing. Small town vibes, local eateries with small town prices, lots of land and trailers. Fast forward, and my mind was blown by the residential development and high end restaurant and hotels that fill the once open land. It is a marvel to see the progress that has been made in a short period of time. This is your standard Fairfield Inn and Suites in all the good ways. If you're a Marriott fan, you'll appreciate the familiarity they intentionally bake into every brand. It is nice to feel that comfort when you're going to be away for an extended period of time. Check in was exceptional. The woman who assisted was very upbeat and made sure I had all the information I needed to enjoy my stay. She also offered me the chance to spin a wheel for a prize. I took my spin and won additional Marriott points. That was a creative way to promote the Bonvoy program and reward members. I was also offered a delicious cookie, which is not typical of the brand. As far as first impressions go, they nailed it. My stay was generally uneventful. I had a few packages arrive and the staff was more than willing to help me out. There are lots of local food options. Some in walking distance like Chili's (not a sponsor lol). Even with the presence of many chain restaurants, they have a good amount of individually owned eateries. Most of them have a sports bar feel, with marine/nautical decorative themes. You're a short drive or Uber to the water, where a whole other set of restaurants is available. If you pick hotels or vacation destinations based on restaurant variety, this is your spot. As far as guest services, I usually do not bother housekeeping with servicing my room daily. They brought me new towels whenever I asked, I'm a low maintenance guest from that standpoint. Because I had the do not disturb sign up for that long, they checked in on me by phone. I sincerely appreciated that. Most hotels will not take that extra step to ensure my stay is going well. The property was clean and in good condition, typical gym and FI bar. Their complimentary breakfast spread was perfect for my needs. If you are there on vacation with family, looking to save money on breakfasts you will enjoy the variety of options. If you're on the go, like I was, you have the those grab-n-go items. The front desk staff were on point whenever I needed something and the same woman who checked me in spotted me leaving and made a point to say goodbye by name. The staff was friendly. And gave home made cookies each day for free. However I was on the top floor and the elevator was out of order the entire stay. Although I am not disabled there were rooms on the top floor that were handicapped accessible and I could t imagine how they would make do without the elevator. My room was cleaned by housekeeping each day but there was hair on my towels most days. The shower curtain was not long enough for the shower so Everytime I took a shower it would wet the entire floor which can be a safety hazard for potential slip and falls. There was also a 3 dollar charge for the snack bar that they could not correct. I didn't receive the item that was charged. There was also a day during my stay that my room door was left open after housekeeping which made me question the safety of my belongings in the room because anyone could have walked in my room. Overall, the stay wasn't too bad but there was definitely room for improvement. read more

Great hotel in a great location! I was here for 5 days and had an extremely comfortable stay! Everything looks relatively new and is very clean. There's a smart TV with Netflix and Youtube. Internet was speedy. The shower provided nice hot water. And the complimentary breakfast was a highlight of my stay. It's also in a fantastic location, right next to a variety of restaurants and even a Publix. There's a mall down the street and the beach is a short drive away. I was in town for school but I would've loved to have a nice staycation there! read more

The rooms here are a bit smaller, only 1 television in the room ( I know, I know, how many television's can you really watch at once?) but the rooms are clean and comfy which is the main thing. I had no microwave, but a mini fridge Typical Marriott layout and set up. Amenities include a business center, gym, outdoor pool, coffee and tea in the lobby area and a hot/cold breakfast in the A.M. Friendly staff and a very relaxing atmosphere. The Sarasota airport is about 8 miles away and there are a few restaurants that are a walking distance from the hotel. One word of caution, this is also a convention and meeting center. If you want peace and quiet, try not to book your rooms on the 1st floor. It could get noisy in the A.M. read more

What a great location, right off the 75. Our room was small but the bed really comfy and the fridge was a nice convenience (no microwave though). The fitness room is small but the outdoor pool is a nice size with a jacuzzi too. The complimentary breakfast and with USA Today was awesome in the morning. They had a nice selection of food and the room was comfortable and big. Free coffee all day and night too. The front desk lady was super friendly and quickly gave me a razor and shaving cream after I told her I left my electric one at home. Excellent customer service! read more

I agree with others that this hotel is not worth the rates they charge. The positives are the location, the bedding and towels are clean, and most of the staff is very helpful and pleasant. The negatives are the condition of the room and hotel. The closet door squeaks so loud there is no way to open the door without waking everyone else up. The carpets are worn and spotted, and the furniture is old, worn, and dated. The hotel maid never replenished our tissues or even a simple thing like replacing a small pad of paper. But when I called the front desk, they happily brought up enough tissue boxes for a two week stay. That's just a small example of the condition of the hotel. We've stayed at many other Fairfield's and numerous other Marriott property and this one by far is in great need of updating. read more

The grocery store and Starbucks and plenty of restaurants all within walking distance or tons more within driving distance. The hotel was clean and commons areas very nice. You would not think of finding great food in a hotel, but the Bistro has an excellent menu and everything made from scratch. We had their crispy brussel sprouts (twice), and the 2nd time we ordered them, was my husband's request (who doesn't like brussel sprouts). Their fries were delicious. And my favorite was the white egg frittata. A fluffy Monterey jack cheese omelet topped with grape tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, and arugula drizzled with a lemon vinaigrette! Excellent!! read more

This Fairfield Inn and Suites is located right off I-275 at the University Parkway exit in Lakewood Ranch. The hotel is a very typical Marriott property with a clean, comfortable room, lots of well-designed workspace within the room, and a great little mini-fridge. I was there during the mid-week for a couple of days of business in Sarasota, and I found this hotel to be very convenient to I-275, and the prices to be reasonable for the area. As with all Marriott properties, the staff is stellar, and super friendly. They welcomed me back as a Marriott premiere customer, and gave me a couple of bottles of water to add to my mini-fridge. The front desk clerk pointed out the business area down in the lobby with shared printers and a scanner. I also got the rundown on the free breakfast, and given directions to their workout facility / gym. With that, I headed up to my room and settled in. The bed was obscenely comfortable, and it would have been all too easy to lay back and take a nap. But no, there was work to be done, so after unpacking, I was back on the road to scope out the neighborhood and consider my dining options. The Fairfield Inn is located in the Lakewood Ranch Publix shopping center off of University, and it's on the other side of I-275 from University Town Center Mall, which makes it a great place to stay if you're planning a trip to the area. (I thankfully booked a room a few weeks later following the Yelp event at Seasons 52, and that gave me the chance to unwind after several glasses of wine. Wheeeee!) As an admitted "hotel snob", I was impressed by this Fairfield, knowing full well that Fairfield's are toward the lower end of the Marriott spectrum. The hotel seemed pretty new, so everything was clean and fresh and spiffy clean. The room was perfectly maintained and cleaned each day and very comfortable. The free breakfast in the lobby seemed better than most hotels in this category, which was a nice feature. Perhaps the best part, which isn't seen very often in hotels was the TV. Yes, the TV. It had to be about a 60 inch TV on a very cool swivel, so you can watch it comfortably from any spot in the room. Yes, TV. Sometimes it's the little things in life. read more

Strong recommendation to NOT stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Lakewood Ranch, Fl. We ignored the full remodel of the lobby area when we arrived. The rooms have been renovated and are very nice, the front desk staff not so nice, the housekeeping is very poor. Our room did not get cleaned at all yesterday and when we asked he said you had you the do not disturb on when housekeepers went to clean. So unfriendly. Our room was available to be cleaned from 12 PM until 9 PM all day Sunday! Today we come back to room that was not cleaned again. Sure trash was emptied & towels replaced, yet we had a dirty bathroom & the sheets were not changed after 3 nights! Hopefully the renovation includes a new passionate team! And then this afternoon, we decide an hour at the pool would be nice. Wrong! Pool is filthy, and the pool towels are the perfect size for a 2 year old. Our room bath towels were bigger! Service is everything! It's all about the people. PS. We love the location!! read more

I stayed at this location with my son for a weekend and i had a great experience. Clean rooms, clean towels, clean sheets and pillows. Room came with a large TV, microwave and decent size refrigerator. The breakfast was delicious with lots of selection to choose from. Staff was nice as well. Safe place and close to many restaurants. The only observation I have is that the rooms are a bit small. Other than that, great place. I will definitely stay here again. read more

So they are doing renovations here which is why I gave it 3 stars because I assume it it going to get better. I booked a whirlpool room to have a romantic evening with my boyfriend and it didn't work at all. Also the water was yellow and when we filled it there were things floating in it. Also my room was not ready when I arrived. They were super nice though so it was ok. Also my boyfriend found a large bug in the bed. The room is decorated nicely though. We had to evacuate from Sarasota Bay before hurricane Irma and we decided to stay at Fairfield because it is pet friendly. It turned out they are not only pet friendly, there are also actually people friendly - which unfortunately is rare in this industry. Their stuff was amazingly nice and patient, always helpful, always in a good mood. Every single receptionist and housekeeper could serve as a poster child for the spirit of hospitality. And we encountered numerous employees before and during our stay, including the hotel manager. We had a small but very nice and comfortable room, equipped with microwave and refrigerator, which was a nice surprise, as everything around Sarasota during Irma was closed. Of course we went elsewhere to purchase water, but it sucks arriving at bedtime and not even having bottles of water waiting in the room. We decided to do a spare of the moment trip to explore Sarasota and wound up staying overnight at the Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott. They claim to be pet friendly Yeah. For $75. Almost as much as the room!!! The hotel is pretty and clean the room was ok. BUT the mattress was hard and because we had our small dog with us we were put on the ground floor. OK fine The window had only sheers which meant anyone walking from their car could see right in our room (I checked) and the parking lot light could not be closed off so it lit up our room all night. Won't stay here again Drury Inns are still the best and only charge $15 more for your pet read more

On business travel only to tuck in for the night. Mind you, it's a $230 bed. I'm titanium elite Marriott member. And I'm in a room next door to a barking dog. Called the front desk, asked if they allow dogs here. With a smug voice, the young lady says "we sure do". Yep, check that box. Never again. That's all you have to say to me ms front desk person. I travel a lot and won't be staying at this hotel again. Caveat Emptor "buyer beware". I don't recommend this hotel. Plenty of other $230 a night beds in this area to choose from. read more

Everyone is super friendly and the establishment is very clean. They are very prompt about breakfast, so don't be late! There is a business area in the lobby, so if you find yourself in need of doing stuff on there it's a good, quiet area. Beds are comfy and a good size. My only con is that the AC sometimes doesn't cool the room enough so it becomes a bit humid, but all-in-all the rooms are spotless. Comes equipped with all the essential basics and if you need more towels, the front desk is very quick to deliver. Hotel is located in a very good area: surrounded by tons of restaurants, a Publix supermarket, Super Target, and a fairly large mall. Is a quick drive away from Siesta Key and St. Armands Key. Would recommend this hotel to anyone coming this way. read more

I provided a credit card when I booked the room. When I arrived, they asked me for a card. I provided a different one, my personal card. I was told it was for "incidentals". Instead, they charged the entire room to this card, which did not have enough money in the account. I knew this, and would never have allowed that card to be charged. They misled me by saying it was for incidentals. I was never told otherwise or asked which card to use. This ended up costing me $180 in overdraft fees. To make matters worse, when I called to inquire about this, they argued with me and said it was my fault. Poor communication, poor customer service, poor hotel. To top it off, I am now itching all over my body. It appears they also have bed bugs. I will never return and I intend to post this on every media site that I can find. read more

The staff is friendly. The rooms are big and clean. But if you're checking in for two people and get a room with two beds that arent bigger than full size, you're going to be uncomfortable. Me and my husband have been struggling to fall asleep because the beds are too small. We've actually decided to sleep in a separate bed (as lonely as that is) because it just isn't roomy. Both of us feel like we're going to fall out of bed if we move the smallest amount. Also, the air conditioning pisses me off. I don't know if it's all the rooms, But my room has a loud wall unit that NEVER. SHUTS. OFF. And isn't digital so it basically just goes and goes, and is loud as hell. Which doesn't help my sleeplessness thanks to the tiny fucking beds. Free breakfast, free gym, free coffee and tea all day. But goddamn, I should have asked for one queen sized bed, I didn't expect this. The wifi is okay but if you want to stream videos on youtube or netflix they suggest you pay for their premium 'net because otherwise it'll buffer and get capped. Which is bullshit. I've been here twice this year, the staff is always very friendly and helpful. Everything is kept and clean, every morning they have hot/cold breakfast that is great (along with a selection of steaming hot coffee, hot water for tea and hot chocolate provided as well). You can make your own waffles!! I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a relaxing stay away from home. Its at a great location, Another Broken Egg Café, Chili's and even Publix are just a short walk away. The pool is great for the kids and the whirlpool is a nice spot for the adults. This past summer my brother and I had to travel across the country unexpectedly due to a family emergency. We rolled up to this hotel at 3am one night needing a place to stay that was close to the local hospital. We ended up staying for almost a week, and over that week we experienced the most amazing customer service. It was a pretty terrible week, but the staff were all so kind and sympathetic. Eleonora, the GM, is one of the most empathetic managers I have come across. Eleonora had given me her card for me to reach out the next time we were coming in to town so she could personally take care of our arrangements and ensure we were well taken care of. We had to visit two more times in the following three months, and she was so helpful. The team here is just fantastic - from Armando in the evenings who was always welcoming when we arrived back after a long day, to (I'm sorry I didn't catch her name) the woman who runs the show at breakfast, always so welcoming and engaging to everyone who came down for a bite. Plus, the rooms were clean and sanitary and we felt very safe and comfortable staying there in the middle of a pandemic. Quality service starts from the top, and we cannot thank Eleonora enough for all of her help. read more

We stayed for a night, room smells bad but no availability to change. After one night sleep, my whole family got bites all over our body. Hotel claim no bed bug, so where did those bites come from??!! We use repellent outdoor, after shower before bed we were all fine. Woke up with all red bites later turned into blister all over me and my son. Unacceptable!! read more

Got a room here for 2 nights through priceline bidding. It's a nice little place! Clean, good smelling, has a friendly and helpful staff. The room had a mini-fridge, microwave and a nice sized plasma TV with free HBO. Bed was big and comfortable, bathroom was nice. The free breakfast was good. Wafflemaker, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage, juice, yogurt, oatmeal and a whole bunch of other stuff. The pool looked nice from what I saw. They didn't jack me for any extra fees or charges, even parking was free. The listed price of 150 a night is a little steep and the bathtub stopper didn't work well when I tried to run a bath, hence the 4 stars. But if you can get it cheaper it's a great place to stay. read more

@marriot Booked rooms weeks in advance to enjoy a Father's Day weekend w the family and our 4 legged friend a Maltese at the Fairfield inn & suites Sarasota Lakewood Ranch. We purposely always look for pet friendly hotels and have stayed at many Marriott pet friendly hotels before with no issues. Once we checked in, lady at reception named Lynn, stated she was the manager in charge, sees the dog and says 'oh u have a dog, we need to change your room location to ground floor' I told her how it was specified on the online reservation along with the request for extra towels but she failed to read the requests. But regardless, we agreed for room change, ask for extra towels AGAIN and she said 'WHY extra towels if u have towels in the room.' Who questions why we want or need extra towels... perhaps to not have to bother you the next day since we had reserved a two night stay and perhaps if u read the reviews, many have complaint about this location running out of towels so we wanted to prevent that. We dropped our things off and decided to go grab a bite for dinner and made a stop at the coffee station which was next to our room door. She hears our dog barking and rudely asks 'is he going to be barking all night long' I told her how it was because he can hear us. She kept being rude about how she couldn't handle him barking all night and we couldn't leave the room w out him...so I then told her if it was gonna be an issue to refund us and we would leave...she made a big fuss how we had prepaid and she couldn't give us a refund and it wasn't UNTIL I told her that I was recording the whole thing and how does she really expect US to leave, PER HER REQUEST, and NOT get a refund that she then proceeded to agree to refunding US...something that wasn't ALLOW before but she magically was able to do after showing her I had recorded EVERYTHING . I will be seeking legal matters and uploading video. We will NEVER use marriot hotels again as his caused added anxiety on our family plans for the weekend, we lost our evening but contacted Hilton, explained our issue and they gladly put us in a bear by pet friendly high room and no pet fee. read more
