Great hotel! The rooms here are a bit smaller, only 1 television in the room ( I know, I know, how many television's can you really watch at once?) but the rooms are clean and comfy which is the main thing. I had no microwave, but a mini fridge Typical Marriott layout and set up. Amenities include a business center, gym, outdoor pool, coffee and tea in the lobby area and a hot/cold breakfast in the A.M. Friendly staff and a very relaxing atmosphere. The Sarasota airport is about 8 miles away and there are a few restaurants that are a walking distance from the hotel. One word of caution, this is also a convention and meeting center. If you want peace and quiet, try not to book your rooms on the 1st floor. It could get noisy in the A.M.

What a great location, right off the 75. Our room was small but the bed really comfy and the fridge was a nice convenience (no microwave though). The fitness room is small but the outdoor pool is a nice size with a jacuzzi too. The complimentary breakfast and with USA Today was awesome in the morning. They had a nice selection of food and the room was comfortable and big. Free coffee all day and night too. The front desk lady was super friendly and quickly gave me a razor and shaving cream after I told her I left my electric one at home. Excellent customer service!

Egg white frittata.

You would not think of finding great food in a hotel, but the Bistro has an excellent menu and everything made from scratch. We had their crispy brussel sprouts (twice), and the 2nd time we ordered them, was my husband's request (who doesn't like brussel sprouts). Their fries were delicious. And my favorite was the white egg frittata. A fluffy Monterey jack cheese omelet topped with grape tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, and arugula drizzled with a lemon vinaigrette! Excellent!!

Fairfield Inn & Suites, just off I-275 near University Parkway in Lakewood Ranch

This Fairfield Inn and Suites is located right off I-275 at the University Parkway exit in Lakewood Ranch. The hotel is a very typical Marriott property with a clean, comfortable room, lots of well-designed workspace within the room, and a great little mini-fridge. I was there during the mid-week for a couple of days of business in Sarasota, and I found this hotel to be very convenient to I-275, and the prices to be reasonable for the area. As with all Marriott properties, the staff is stellar, and super friendly. They welcomed me back as a Marriott premiere customer, and gave me a couple of bottles of water to add to my mini-fridge. The front desk clerk pointed out the business area down in the lobby with shared printers and a scanner. I also got the rundown on the free breakfast, and given directions to their workout facility / gym. With that, I headed up to my room and settled in. The bed was obscenely comfortable, and it would have been all too easy to lay back and take a nap. But no, there was work to be done, so after unpacking, I was back on the road to scope out the neighborhood and consider my dining options. The Fairfield Inn is located in the Lakewood Ranch Publix shopping center off of University, and it's on the other side of I-275 from University Town Center Mall, which makes it a great place to stay if you're planning a trip to the area. (I thankfully booked a room a few weeks later following the Yelp event at Seasons 52, and that gave me the chance to unwind after several glasses of wine. Wheeeee!) One of the nicer places to stay if you're in the area.

Strong recommendation to NOT stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Lakewood Ranch, Fl. We ignored the full remodel of the lobby area when we arrived. The rooms have been renovated and are very nice, the front desk staff not so nice, the housekeeping is very poor. Our room did not get cleaned at all yesterday and when we asked he said you had you the do not disturb on when housekeepers went to clean. So unfriendly. Our room was available to be cleaned from 12 PM until 9 PM all day Sunday! Today we come back to room that was not cleaned again. Sure trash was emptied & towels replaced, yet we had a dirty bathroom & the sheets were not changed after 3 nights! Hopefully the renovation includes a new passionate team! And then this afternoon, we decide an hour at the pool would be nice. Wrong! Pool is filthy, and the pool towels are the perfect size for a 2 year old. Our room bath towels were bigger! Service is everything! It's all about the people. PS. We love the location!!

Typical hotel art on the walls, but clean fresh rooms.

First Impressions of the Hotel…read more I've just arrived at the hotel for a business trip, and I must say the first impressions are mostly positive. The hotel has a charming exterior and an interior with a vintage vibe, but in a good way. It's got character. Upon arrival, the receptionist was friendly and helpful, which always makes a great first impression. The parking situation was a bit tricky, though. There is limited parking on-site, but they do have an overflow lot not far away, which is convenient, but still something to keep in mind. The room itself is spacious and adequate. It includes a nice balcony, a TV, and a desk for work. However, there was no refrigerator, which I found a bit inconvenient. Also, there was a slight odd smell in the room, but it wasn't overpowering or unpleasant--just a bit of an odd first impression. One of the highlights of the stay is the complimentary breakfast, which is always a nice touch. But I do have to mention a one thing. There was a small bench at the foot of the bed that I didn't notice was possibly damaged. When I sat down, I unexpectedly sank into it, which was a bit of a surprise. All in all, the hotel meets my needs for this trip. It's got some character and charm, but there are a few areas that could use some improvement.

Being able to walk past the pool to the Riverwalk and sit on the bench while drinking my coffee in the breeze was lovely. However, see the dolphins swim by you in the river ( YES Dolphins!!!) made this place even better. Based on the amount of locals watching and walking by, this is a daily thing. Ok, back to the hotel. There is plenty of parking. When you go in, there is the kindest staff waiting to greet you with a smile. This means a lot. They also have water available which is a nice touch. The restaurant serves Starbucks coffee and some items for breakfast for purchase and dinner too. I just got coffee and an afternoon beverage to enjoy by the pool. The pool is right out back and has lots of seating. There is also a hot tub. The hotel has 5 floors. Our king room was a nice size with plenty of bathroom space. It also included a couch as well as a desk, which was great since I was working from the hotel. The air conditioner worked very well. The room also had a small patio so I was able to open the door and get some nice fresh air. The humidity was kind of high so I didn't keep the door open often. The only small issue was there is a train that goes across the river and it blew its horn pretty early in the AM. Not the end of the world and kind of cool to watch the tracks go down for the train and then up so boats can pass. There is one restaurant across the street which had decent food. We didn't walk to the downtown via the Riverwalk, but you can and it's about an15 minute walk.

This stay was for a quick overnight work trip. I arrived pretty late -- completely exhausted and starving after a three-hour drive -- but the hotel was easy to find with GPS, parking was simple, and I was greeted right away by two very polite front desk associates. The lobby is beautifully maintained and nicely decorated. There's a coffee bar right when you walk in, which is a great touch (though I'm not sure how frequently it's replenished throughout the day). My room was on the second floor, and it was spotless. One of the reasons I love Home2 Suites is how spacious the rooms feel. It truly feels more like a mini apartment than a standard hotel room. There are so many functional spaces to set your things down without feeling cramped. I had a full-size bed, a couch, and a long counter that could easily serve as a workspace for two people at once. I especially appreciate having the option to prepare your own meals. When you travel often, sometimes you just want to stay in and not eat out for every single meal. The bathroom was roomy with amazing hot water -- exactly what I needed to relax my muscles after that long drive. I slept great, no noise issues at all, and woke up fully refreshed. I didn't try the breakfast because my boss had suggested we go out instead. My only general suggestion -- and this applies to many hotels -- would be to focus on serving more fresh, real breakfast options. When you're staying at a Hilton property, you expect quality across the board, including the food. Overall, this was a great stay, and I would absolutely return.

My husband had a conference, and I had a soccer game so it worked out. Got here a little later than expected so I called the front desk before arriving. The lady greeted me kindly and let me know she would be at the desk until later on. I was happy to hear because when I finally arrived, she was actually there. I was greeted with a warm smile and she quickly checked me in so we could get settled. I asked about some amenities I may need and she pointed me to the right direction. They have a washer and dryer, which is something I do use when I go on vacation. The actual room was spacious. Always a plus when it's a couple of people in the room. It was clean and maintained so throughout our stay. Overall great hotel. The only "complaint" I have is the mattress however I feel like this is common in most hotels. Wasn't the best mattress that I have ever laid on but it worked for the couple of nights I stayed.

As others have noted in their reviews, Ken and Jeff are constantly working to keep up this lovely family resort. It is clean and landscaped beautifully, and the rooms are just right! With a sitting area in our two bedroom, we enjoyed the recliner and couch as we watched movies in the evening. In our full kitchen, we stocked the refrigerator from the local Publix and made our breakfast and lunch, which we packed for the beach. Many guests chose to grill out as we saw when we would load up to go to a local restaurant for dinner, but we preferred eating out! On our first night at Hurricane Hanks restaurant down the road, we met up with a resident who offered us more ideas for restaurants for dinner. There's nothing like walking right out onto the beach to spend a morning watching the waves, seeing dolphins frolic, observing osprey catching their breakfast, and swimming in the water among schools of fish. Many of the guests knew each other from yearly vacations, and we have already made our reservation for next year! Anna Maria Island is quiet and family friendly. White Sands Resort offers shuffleboard and corn hole right next to the pool, but the best show is the sunset. On our first night, we were surprised to see how many lined the beach to see God's beauty, of course clapping at the end! Thank you to Ken, Jeff, Joy, and Esther for a wonderful stay.
