This place was conveniently located; easily accessible from the highway, good businesses nearby, but relatively quiet at the bottom of a hill. I got a thorough welcome. The drains in the room were quite poor; I suspect in suites the issue may be that there is a mini-kitchen but no sink to wash a dish in. Regardless, something they need to work on. There is a small outdoor seating area and indoor pool. The breakfast was modest in scope but had some quality items and oat milk for those in need. The wifi was quite snappy. I was a tad aggravated with the bathroom but otherwise a good stop here. read more

So this stay was absolutely perfect. We have stayed in plenty of hotels and this one was head and shoulders above what we usually experience. The check in was simple and quick and a luggage cart was readily available. We got into our room right away and I saw we had the coffee maker, microwave, and larger sized fridge that we prefer. Yay! There were 2 large double beds and a large TV positioned perfectly between them. There was a nice amount of space between the 2nd double bed and the window so I would be able to do yoga. Another yay! Almost immediately I was down in the fitness center checking it out. As of late my fitness routine has been religious and demanding and I was happy to see a well stocked fitness center. I had asked ahead of time online if they had free weights and a fellow patron had responded yes. I was happy to see they did in fact. They also had an elliptical and treadmills, as well as some mats and other random pieces of equipment like a BOSU. For the most part of my stay I did not have to share the fitness center with anyone else. In it there is a window that looks over the adjacent indoor pool. Occasionally there would be a couple people swimming, but rarely anyone else using the fitness center. Another great feature to this hotel is a little patio right outside the fitness center and pool. There is a gas grill as well as tables and chairs so folks can sit out there and eat or hang out in the evening. Upon a couple of occasions our coaches and other teams would congregate there. Another cool thing about this hotel is its location. It is very near a shopping area and adjacent to some restaurants. Prior to arriving I had looked up to see what restaurants were nearby as we would need to find places to eat for our week's stay. Just up the hill is a restaurant called Kickback Jack's. We ate there the 1st night and the food was quite good. Also also up the hill is another restaurant called Aubrey's. We ate there on a separate night and again had a good meal. Check out my reviews for both if you are thinking of heading over. Also nearby is a Sports Authority. We went there just to kill some time and see what they had in stock. In general, their prices were good and competitive with other sporting goods stores. As far as groceries went, about a mile or 2 away there is a Food Lion - Very convenient for running in and grabbing a few things I wanted to stock in the room. However, I did not appreciate their prices or their refusal to give me the benefit of their discount program as I did not have their rewards card. I did ask but was denied. There there are other random restaurants and stores in the area, anything you would need I'm sure you can get. One final item to write about was the awesome complimentary breakfast. The only downside is the somewhat more limited hours from 630 to 9 or so that it is available. Most hotels have longer hours. Regardless, they had the fresh fruit that I appreciate as well as cut up fruit every morning. They had a couple types of yogurt and plenty of coffee so I was a happy camper. For my husband they had hot dishes that were different every day as well as dried cereal and other pastries to pick from plus juice. In summary, everything was just right. The staff was super friendly from the desk clerks to the housekeeping. I have to absolutely compliment them on the quality of the hotel and staffing. Everything about our stay was just right and for that I say thank you very much. As a final note - my husband forgot 3 pair of shorts in the room and when he called and inquired, they were willing to mail them back at the cheapest available rate with my husband paying the freight. BED BUGS! The Manager Gabe Davis should not be allowed to be in any type of hospitality role. We were bitten badly by bed bugs & found SEVERAL so we discreetly brought it to his attention & simply asked to change rooms for the remainder of our stay & asked that we be able to check the rooms first. At first he agreed, even though he said it was "bizarre" that they would be in both adjoining rooms. I dont know why he thought that would be bizarre...bed bugs spread easily. As we went upstairs to pack our stuff to move, he came up & said he had decided it would just be best for us to leave instead. He would not offer us another room, only said he would refund for the days we would not be staying & that we should try another hotel. It was out of the blue & when we asked why, he continued to say "ma'am, I'm not going to discuss it" He gave us 30mn to leave! We did not make a scene or ask for anything that anyone else wouldn't ask for (to move rooms) so I dont know why he changed his mind. He said the rooms had been deep cleaned...as if he didn't believe us even after showing him proof of the live & dead bugs, shells, bites, pics & videos. WHY would anyone want to spend their day moving rooms for no reason. He literally kicked us & our 5 kids out simply for pointing out the bed bugs! He continued to say he would not discuss it when we asked why. He tried to claim they were carpet beetles but they were most certainly not. Even if that had been the case, why would he kick us out rather than offer to move us to another room!? Our kids were VERY upset & it ruined the entire day. He also went as far as calling the other Marriot that we were moving to & telling them we had bed bugs in our room so they may want to be careful since we could be transferring them. Thankfully the other Marriott knows how to treat guests & simply had us use their dryers to dry all of our clothing (which we were happy to do) & inspect our luggage thoroughly (again, happy to). Funny how they were "carpet beetles" until we were checking in someplace else. I have NEVER been so disrespected or treated so poorly. BEWARE! I would NOT stay here! read more

Gabe Davis, the general manager of the hotel, was extremely rude, unprofessional, and dishonest. I do not usually write reviews but this situation was by far the worst experience I have ever had! There were bed bugs found in our room. My sister, myself and my children were bit by the bedbugs. My sister's were the worst, which we showed Gabe Davis. We also found a ton of them on the mattress in our room and the adjoining room we had. We discreetly showed him what we found and asked for a new room. At first he was willing to help us out. We went up to pack up our stuff to change rooms when he came up to our room to tell us he would not change our room and gave us 30 minutes to leave the hotel. When we asked why, he said he wouldn't discuss it with us. He obviously wanted to cover up the situation and lied about what they were, saying they were carpet beetles. They were most definitely bed bugs. Gabe Davis kicked my four children, my niece my sister and myself out of this hotel simply because we found bed bugs in the rooms. He was so rude and disrespectful to us. He should not be in any type of hospitality position. I've never been treated worse than I was by him; and for no reason at all. read more

Yes, this is a new hotel. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The staff at the front desk (including the manager) don't have a clue what they're doing but they're friendly. Behind the hotel is a pasture with cows. Next door (walking distance) is a plaza with some food places and a planet fitness. The rooms do include a refrigerator and microwave but the rooms themselves are VERY small. Typical free hotel breakfast. The tv is a smart tv with access to Netflix and Hulu which gets extra points in my book. *Edit* I got a letter from the GM in my room today apologizing for the mess up at check in with a gift. This was a wonderful hotel choice during our brief stay in JC. Its location gives you close proximity to a wide array of restaurants and shopping and provides easy access to the interstate. The staff was very friendly even when I had a little difficulty locating my reservation. The amenities including technology access was a big help to me while there on business. Brand new hotel with a bright and friendly service. This was nicer than some Westin's that I've stayed at. Comfortable beds, thick walls, indoor mini pool, great fitness center, beautiful grounds, Jason's Deli within walking distance, and Pie Five Pizza too. The included breakfast was perfect with a good variety minus the powder eggs . What a great time we had and they offer a good number of amenities to keep you busy around the hotel. Netflix and Hulu are accessible on their tvs using your log in. If I'm ever in the area, we'd definitely stay here again. read more

This hotel seems newer than others I've stayed at in the area. I have 2 teens traveling with me so the pullout sofa is a must. They thought to put the extra linens in the closet for it as well as an extra pillow. I usually need to beg borrow and steal for extra linens. The place is clean- the fitness area is a little larger than other hotels, the pool is small but nice. The breakfast is ok and the coffee is average but drinkable. The place is pretty quiet- down a hill and backs up to a cow pasture so the noise is very little. At the top of the hill you can find some restaurants which I found convenient. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the housekeeping services... when are we going to stop using covid as an excuse for short-changing consumers! Don't get me wrong, I'm vaxed and still wear a mask when appropriate but this is Maddening! You need to ask specifically for towels, cleaning, etc, so annoying to beg for services that were expected 2 years ago. read more

This hotel is in one of the top three that we have ever stayed at. Nicely decorated, the bed & pillows were outstanding, the staff was friendly and even the complimentary hygiene items were good quality. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. But best of all, the hotel was QUIET. I opted for the high speed internet, and it worked flawlessly. They also make the checkout easy by hanging your receipt on your door in the morning. If we are ever in need of a hotel in Johnson City in the future, we would definitely stay here again. read more

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. It seems very new and it was immaculately clean. The young man who checked us in thanked us for being Marriott Bonvoy members and gave us waters. He upgraded our room without us asking for it. Another staff member came out and also welcomed us and offered cookies for an evening snack. I was really happy with the layout of the room and the bathroom. Shampoo, soap, and conditioner were available in sample sizes, as were three sets of towels. Both of us were happy with the level of comfort in the bed. Anytime we come through Tennessee, this will be our go-to hotel. Thanks for making our stay so wonderful! read more

We booked our room about half an hour before we arrived at the hotel (around 11pm). The staff were friendly and very quick. The hotel appears to be a fairly new build as everything still has that shiny new look to it and it's really clean. The beds were super comfy, as usual, which is why we stay at Marriott properties. The beds were rather high though, fine for my partner and I but I could see it being difficult for a senior or someone with any sort of physical impairment, it was odd how high they were now that I think about it! Lots of dining and shopping options nearby. Overall, great place to grab a nights sleep on a long trip. read more

Bad Experience! Traveling with my family and wanted a place to stay with a Suite that we could have a separate space to stay and watch tv or work when we put the kids to bed. Online the "suites" claim to have a "privacy wall." The "privacy wall" is a small partition that comes off each wall and goes about 3 ft into the room and has about a 12 ft opening in the middle. It is not privacy wall unless you are a small child wanting to hide in a small corner. Our kids sat in bed and could see my wife and I sitting on a couch on the other side of a "wall." They could hear everything and it did not block any light. The refrigerator in our room had to be replaced as it did not work. Online they describe an outdoor pool in reality it is an indoor splash pool big enough for a few people at a time. The management gave me 10,000 Marriott points for our issues but never took responsibility. I had a conversation with the manager that was maddening. The response I got was "sorry it is not what you expected." We had an argument where we decided to differ on what a "privacy wall" is. I found the attitude and response that it was as much our fault as it was deceptive advertising to be upsetting. I would warn against anyone depending on their room descriptions. I would also advise that if you do have an issue the manager has an attitude but I thought the workers tried their best. Mike read more

This hotel was a very good stay for the price, nice and clean and in a great location. However, our room with incidentals and taxes came to $134.58. The hotel charged $300.00!! We checked in on the 22nd of Aug. and out the next day and they still are holding an extra $150.00 as of today Aug. 27th! I called and complained and was told "That happens when you use your debit card and it will come off at midnight." She really didn't care. I stay in a lot of hotels and while it is common to have a small overcharge for a couple of days in case of incidentals, never have I had this large of a charge for this long. Also, I did not use my pin #, I charged as a credit, which shouldn't matter anyway AND it didn't come off midnight it is still there! While I was not short on money I believe it is the principal of a company holding so much for so long! I have never had this experience at another Marriott, or any other hotel for that matter.
