I'd love to give this place 5 stars because their customer service was 5 stars BUT the actual hotel may not even be as high as 3. The hotel says it's new, it's advertised as new all over the outside of the hotel, It's not. There were signs of age everywhere. Dated wallpapered, dim and low ceiling hallways. Old wallpaper in the rooms trying to cover up damaged walls. Air Freshener in the fan/air conditioner. Stains on the ottoman and weird stains/stuff on the desk chair. You can tell that they tried to clean it but it's very clearly still dirty We found a dead cockroach on the floor (at least it was dead). On a positive note, our breakfast hostess was amazing! She was so nice and got everything and anything the kids wanted and even made jokes and was funny. She was awesome. This is the kind of stuff I want to know when I'm looking to stay somewhere. read more

The beds are comfortable. The staff is friendly and provided me with good suggestions to get dinner. I gave this place 3 stars for one reason: a demon possessed fire detector. This fire detector went off because I took a hot shower. Maintenance came and took the batteries out. Then at 5 am, the detector woke me out of a sound sleep with a very high pitched chirp and a "low battery" announcement after. read more

Updated and clean. That's all I need! The Ramada in Ellsworth provided a great stopping point for us on our journey. It was getting late so I was happy they had an available room. The beds were comfy for a good nights sleep. I was happy they included a hot breakfast for guests. It's your normal breakfast fare in hotels. I also used their fitness room in the morning. The room is very clean, updated and well maintained. Cardio machines, weights, yoga mats and an indoor pool is more than enough to get a nice workout. Service could have been better by the front desk staff. A few times I was waiting while they were attending to personal business. I also want guests to be aware there is not an elevator. If you have larger luggage then you may want to rethink what you bring up to your room. It was fine for our one night of just passing through. I'm hoping the staff can improve their attentiveness for future guests. read more

Ramada Ellsworth is located about 30 minutes from Acadia National Park, which made it convenient to drive back and forth for a 2-day trip in the area. Sheryl at the front desk greeted us with enthusiasm and was so sweet, providng us with local recommendations and sightseeing tips in Bar Harbor. She even gave us some restaurants to avoid. Make sure you don't pack a lot of luggage when staying here. There are no elevators, only stairs to get to the second floor. We reserved a double queen suite, which was pretty roomy with a sofa, and a fridge and microwave. The room was slightly older, but pretty clean. My only pet peeve was that the shower drained water pretty slow and it felt like I was showering in a puddle of my soapy water. Continental breakfast is available at no extra charge. There are fresh fruits, yogurt, bread and pastry selections, juices and hot coffee/tea, cereal selections, and scrambled eggs and sausages. Parking is free and the Ramada is located near a grocery store, Walmart, LL Bean outlet, and the little downtown Ellsworth area. read more

We'd rented a house in the area but drove up on the same day as a massive storm that knocked out power all over the area, so we needed to find new lodgings. The Ramada was able to get us into a room right away. Staff was super nice. The room was clean. The bed was *very* soft - even softer than typical hotel beds - so FYI if you have a preference about the firmness of your mattress. Breakfast in the morning was surprisingly extensive for this kind of hotel, and was pretty good. Tea and hot chocolate are available until 10 pm - cookies, too! Overall, a perfectly reasonable place to crash on short notice. read more

For a moderately-priced chain hotel, this was pretty decent. The room wasn't anything fancy, but it was clean and comfortable overall. The entire hotel is non-smoking (I worried that it would smell of smoke after reading reviews of the hotel on other sites), and it has a nice sized pool, hot tub, and sauna. The drawback (or maybe it's not a drawback?) was that every morning as the complimentary breakfast was prepared, the scent of bacon wafted under the door of our room. See if you can get a room that faces the back of the hotel, though, if you want to avoid staring at a parking lot. read more

This place really exceeded my expectations in significant ways. The first thing I need to mention and commend is how clean the rooms were. I thought I was driving through an area that was at least slightly dangerous (I had just come from Bar Harbor), but there is a separate parking lot just for this hotel! Our two queen sized bed room was quite well laid out for an older hotel. I love how the restroom was a good size and so very clean. The bed was comfortable, though on the softer side. There were plenty of channels on television for entertainment, for those who are into staring into the abyss of a black rectangle. This place is missing two things: there was no elevator or water bottle in the room. Both were negligible for us - we can still lift luggage via stairs without issue. Might be a problem in 30 years' time, though. As for water, we always bring our own. Breakfast was a disappointment, but expected at this price point on Memorial Day Weekend. Fresh fruit was available - so refreshing! There was a really addictive apple "pie" available during breakfast - we must have devoured most of it shamelessly. I highly recommend this hotel for those looking for a no frills but clean stay. There is a TJ Maxx next door for those who may be looking for a deal, and it's a mere 30 minutes drive from Acadia National Park! read more

Very nice staff - we were traveling with an infant and they gave him a toy when we checked in! Breakfast is fairly basic but they do have scrambled eggs and a hash or sausage or bacon in addition to the usual oatmeal, juice, cereals, etc. Straight shot to Acadia, clean rooms, would recommend. read more

I stayed here for a night night while visiting Acadia National Park. This hotel is 30 minutes away from the park, but it is worth the extra driving time to save some money on the hotel. It is significantly cheaper than the hotels in Bar Harbor. The employees here were very kind and lovely people. Service was excellent. The rooms were clean and space was generous. This is a one floor hotel so our window view was the parking lot (which really didn't bother me. We just kept the curtains closed at all times). They also do offer complimentary breakfast. It was quite simple and limited in options, but enough for a quick breakfast. read more

This hotel was very nice. It had a pretty good breakfast buffett which offered better options than a usual continental breakfast. It is about 30 minutes from the main area of Bar Harbor. This hotel offers a nice gym and dry sona. Also a nice pool and a hot tub. The best feature in my opinion was the tennis courts, they were indoor and well lit. The front desk has tennis rackets and balls for guest to use. All in all it was a very nice hotel, my only complaint if any is that early in the morning on weekdays they go door to door and nock and repeatedly say "houskeeping". After a few days hearing this wake you up at a fairly hour it becomes very annoying. I would stay here again though, they are many food options near by as well as a wallgreens and a grocery store. read more

A solid three stars. Nice room. (I had sent an email asking if there was a mini-fridge in the room and was greeted, when I checked-in, with the words "Oh! Yeah! We did get your email and we upgraded your room". Great service, no? Breakfast is excellent! Eggs, sausages, great WHITE bread (who wants to eat whole-wheat on vacation?), etc. They call it "Deluxe continental breakfast" and that it is. LARGE pool. That I had to myself the four days that I stayed here! Nice fitness room, better equipped than most. Also a hot tub and sauna which I didn't try. Highly recommended if you're visiting Bar Harbor and you value saving money over staying in town. The hotel itself is pretty nice - what you'd expect from a moderately priced chain. My only complaints would be the lack of a mini-fridge and that you need lug your luggage up a flight of stairs if you're on the second floor. The hotel makes up for this by being quite clean and having a friendly staff. The best feature, however, is the easy access to Bar Harbor and Acadia. It's a solid 30 minute drive, but it's pretty much a straight shot to both downtown and the park. No, you can't easily go back and forth like you can if you stay in town, but it was convenient enough for us to spend most of the day in the park and then to come back for a shower and nap before heading back to Bar Harbor for dinner. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here a few weeks ago while visiting Bar Harbor for a long weekend. It was about $100 cheaper overall to stay in Ellsworth, so that's why we chose this hotel (about a 27 min drive to downtown Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park). We were thrilled with how clean the room was, and believe me I have very high standards. The front desk attendants were super helpful and friendly. Pool was very large, jacuzzi too. Only thing I would change was the continental breakfast (I've never been to jail but I feel like the foods probably better there). Very lackluster and you can tell the hot breakfast items were cheap frozen fake foods. The place was super comfy well maintained though and amazing for the price, so I give it 4 stars :) read more

At first glance, this hotel did not make a good impression. The lighting makes the hotel look dingy, there was an overall unpleasant smell, and everything was oddly damp. The next morning we went to breakfast and the free breakfast options were pretty good with a decent variety of drinks (both cold and warm), cereal, and other breakfast options. My family and I were also pretty surprised by the amount of people who were actually there. Before it had felt like we were the only ones there. After we went to go check out the pool, they were cleaning it and adjusting the chemicals and what not, but it looked like a nice pool, and the hotel has a hot tub, dry sauna, and fitness center! I was very satisfied with these options and I'm disappointed we weren't able to enjoy it and long as we would like to. The overall service wasn't amazing but it wasn't terrible. This hotel is also very children friendly. If you want an inexpensive hotel that isn't the greatest quality for sleeping but has other great activities this is a good hotel, especially if you're with your family and you're on a budget. read more

over-rated over priced for room size and amenities received. Bed was too high to easily get into or out of. The windows did not open so unable to get fresh air. The price on webpage wasn't honored when we called and made reservations. For forty dollars less 18 miles up the road we got better space and more friendly staff, a quaint environment AND we were able to open windows for fresh air. read more
