The other day I purchased a $25 Christmas ornament and asked for gift wrap. Instead of the usual box and beautiful wrapping, I was "told" that it didn't qualify for the normal gift wrapping "downstairs." I received a cheap ugly cellophane bag instead. There was no one in line for gift wrapping at the time. I was very disappointed in the older woman's attitude considering that we have recently purchased Herend and numerous Juliska gifts from them. In the past their personal customer service set them apart from the others, but obviously it no longer matters, so we will go elsewhere.

Those shops have a lot of toys, but I also find them to be overwhelming. In contrast, Wild Child has a highly curated and diverse selection of toys including some toys I've never seen and some from top brands. They have every category covered - we saw cute little books, Tonies, dolls, doll strollers, arts and crafts projects, beaded jewelry, balls, cars, a wooden trike, a variety of Montessori-friendly wooden toys, and so much more. Wild Child would be great for birthday gifts or your own children. There's something for all ages. The shop owner is very knowledgable and can help you find the perfect toy! Prices are very reasonable. It's definitely worth visiting, except on Mondays when they're closed. We're so happy to have this great toy store in the heart of Wilton right by Scoops ice cream. I came in with a romper I had bought my 12 yr old. It was quite expensive and she wore it once and the seams were unraveling. When I first showed it to an obviously new sales girl. She told me it didn't come from there store. I assured her it did and told her she could look it up in my profile. I then went to shop with my two girls. The woman never came back to tell me she did find the transaction I had to approach her at which time she told me she couldn't help me but Melissa would be back soon and wait for her. So I waited and waited. Finally Melissa arrives and takes one look at this unraveling romper and says" I will have someone sew it for you it's an easy fix" Wrong answer. I explained I didn't want it fixed because it was obviously made poorly and for the money I paid last didn't want "someone stitching up thank you very much " She said well I'm not taking it back" This woman can see I am standing there with more clothes to buy today...the right answer is "I am so sorry I know you shop with us often let me give you a credit towards your purchase today. She was beyond rude thus I put down the clothes I was going to purchase and picked up my phone to write this yelp review. I will not shop there again. If you are going to have top prices then you best have top customer service to match it. Shameful behavior especially given the number of places to mediocre overpriced children's items in this area. I never would have expected it from this store. But it only takes once to lose a customer for life. I hope not taking back a damaged romper was worth exactly that.. Because that is what it cost you.

They have vintage items, modern items, new items, used items...it's not a huge store but it's definitely one that has been crafted with love, that's for sure. My boyfriend actually discovered this store a few weeks ago and we stopped in on a whim. I found a super lovely pair of sterling silver earrings for $4, a game, a ceramic deer for $1, and a few other odds and ends my boyfriend liked. Some of the items will definitely be a bit higher priced than say...goodwill...but the mission of this shop is one I support wholeheartedly and I am grateful to see my money going back into a community resource such as this.
