When we finally decided on this hotel, mainly because it was halfway to our final destination of Pennsylvania, and it looked quite interesting, I had trouble booking through their webpage. Maybe you can blame it on me? I just couldn't quite get the system to accept the "check in--checkout" dates. So I gave them a call and booked through a representative located in Las Vegas Vegas. Everything went smoothly. She was very friendly and accommodating. We actually loved the curvy roads leading up to the winery and hotel. That portion of the trip would've been better in our roadster for sure! We were checked in by a friendly gentleman named Thomas. He gave us a room next to the outdoor pool. Finishings kind of reminded us a little bit of the accommodations. It was peacefully decorated, and mostly comfortable except for the couch. We were only using it to lounge in and something more comfortable would have been desirable. I took advantage of the dry sauna and hot tub, which was a short walk across the parking lot. We tried to take advantage of the grounds by walking around the small lake and through the fields. If they were in a dedicated walking trails, we didn't find them! We took a tour of the main house and enjoyed our French inspired continental breakfast, though croissants would've been a nice touch! The vistas from the winery and the hotel are quite spectacular! If you're looking for boutique or personalized lodging with beautiful surroundings, this may work for you!

Being off season one cannot take in all the amenities like the pool, some of the outdoor activities, and just the ability to lounge or otherwise enjoy the surrounds while staying here. The first one would take you to the Trump Winery and the second one to the Estate itself. Yes, it is still a hotel, but it feels like a country club from start to finish. The place is small enough where they, for the most part, go off your name. Dinner reservation? Okay, here is your table. Done? There is no tab (or tip for that matter). Yes, you still need to pay for it, but it just goes on your room bill seamlessly. Want something? Just ask. From the tiny two-seat bar to anything else, service is pretty personal here. For dinner the ESTATE SALAD - Arcadian green mix topped with tomato, watermelon radish, goat cheese and golden beets dressed with Trump Blanc de Blanc vinaigrette, was amazing. My main of DUCK - Pan roasted medium-rare duck breast with cherry port wine sauce, honey glazed rainbow carrots, wild rice pilaf with estate grown herbs, was the best duck I have had in a very long time. Plus, having a flight of Trump wine (white in this case) gave me a preview of the winery I would get to tomorrow. The Viognier I found to be the surprise interest out of the four I tried.

There is parking right behind the hotel with quick access. The rooms were arranged to maximize the use of space. Its flows nicely and is functional. By the way, the hotel just opened in April 2026. If you ate going to an event at the John Paul Jones arena, it is about a 10 minute walk and the area was safe and well lit. I stumbled across this hotel on Booking.com and the price was reasonable. Breakfast in the hotel was an experience as well, good service and delicious food. Can't wait to stay here again!

The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming from check-in to check-out. The lobby and sitting area are attractive, comfortable, and inviting. Our room was clean and comfortable. While it wasn't luxurious or overly fancy, it had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. One of the highlights was the complimentary breakfast. There was a great variety of options, including two types of scrambled eggs (plain and cheese with peppers), bacon, sausage, buttermilk biscuits, cereal, coffee, tea, and juice. Everything was well stocked and made for a great start to the day. The indoor pool was unfortunately under repair during our visit, but it looked like it will be a really nice amenity once the work is completed. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely choose the English Inn again the next time we're in the Charlottesville area.

I called the inn concierge to ask a few questions, but they didn't respond, and never retuned my call, although I left a clear message. I tried calling again on another day, but again went to voicemail. It was easy to locate and parking was fine. The landscaping around the inn was lovely. My room was at the top of a narrow, steep staircase. No offer of help to get my bag up there until I got to the top, and then one of the housekeepers kindly helped me with my bag. The room was what I expected, given the inn is old. The bathroom was okay and the hot water was fine. It was clean, but there were ants around the coffee maker, as well as larger bugs- I woke up to find a medium sized black bug under my back and in the bathroom , another larger one on my shoulder. I didn't find anyone at the desk at 5pm or at 7am the next morning to answer questions or check out. I had been given a number to call if you needed them but I didn't want to bother them, as it wasn't an emergency. There were no snacks or drinks available in the afternoon or overnight, and they recommended I either go to a gas station nearby, or go to the beautiful winery down the road, which I did, but they were full and did not offer a take-out lunch. There was a nice new Nespresso machine in my room, and I enjoyed the coffee immensely. I did not stay for breakfast, as I found my stay an unpleasant experience overall. It was not a place I would want to visit again.

Oakhurst Inn is a clean, orderly, well stocked vintage inn in Charlottesville. My room was clean,…read morecomfortable, with nice furniture and the bathroom in excellent shape. Quality linens. Squeaky clean hardwood floors all over. Tasteful old furniture. Every staff member I spoke to was polite, courteous, and happy to help. The self serve stations for hot coffee, tea, and cold water was a convenient resource outside of the door. This inn appears to be made of several former homes that were turned into a campus of buildings making the Oakhurst Inn. It's not a single building. The small lawn in the center of the complex has benches, hammock, and a fireplace that seems welcoming and nice, but I wasn't aware of them until I left. There were a few problems during my stay. The inn requires guests to use valet parking which is $40 per night, not disclosed before my stay, and often required a long wait for the valet to return. This makes it hard to retrieve anything you need from your car. The front desk staff are often missing from the front desk - I had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come back and check me in on arrival. Likewise, the bartender is often away from station and you might wait 10 or 30 minutes for the bartender to return. There is no mini fridge or microwave in the hotel rooms. The pool area was extremely dark at night, making it tricky or dangerous to navigate. The pool water was lukewarm, not warm at all. The sauna was out of order and the doorway was small and obscured by chairs. Not accessible and difficult to find. This inn has no gym. The lobby is very small and has no seating for guests or places to hang their luggage, although the nearby lounge has a few leather couches and a fireplace that doesn't appear to be working. Not the most welcoming or convenient. Overall I don't think it's worth the hefty price tag and would stay elsewhere when I return to Charlottesville.
