Very Concerning Conditions in the Emergency Room/Treatment Room…read more I am currently at San Leandro Hospital with a family member who has been here since 11:00 AM, still waiting to be admitted and for a bed to become available. While in the treatment room, I observed visibly dirty floors and debris in multiple corners. A blood-soaked piece of cotton from a blood draw was left in the room, eventually fell onto the floor, and remained there without being picked up. A soiled sheet was also left on the back of the bed after the bedding was changed. The patient bathroom sink was not functioning, leaving no running water for handwashing. I have photographs documenting these conditions. I understand that emergency departments are busy, but cleanliness, sanitation, functioning handwashing facilities, and proper handling of biohazardous materials are basic patient-safety standards. This is extremely concerning, and I will be bringing these issues up the chain of command at San Leandro Hospital. Patients and their families deserve better. Each person was helpful, compassionate, supportive, and professional throughout my visit. I would especially like to thank Dr. Jeffrey West, MD, cardiologist, and the entire medical team for their outstanding care and attention. Their professionalism and genuine concern made a difficult and stressful situation much easier for me. I had seen commercials about Sutter Health before, but I can honestly say that what I saw advertised is exactly what I experienced. The care, compassion, professionalism, and teamwork were not merely portrayed in a commercial--they were genuinely present throughout my visit. i've always had kaiser but switched to anthem and this was my first time at a non-kaiser hospital…read morein the bay. iwas seen today by the ER for anaphylaxis. they saw me, admitted me, and treated me SO QUICKLY. i was checked in on multiple times by doctors and nurses and everyone was kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. they provided thorough explanations and set clear expectations. being in the ER is never a great time but experience was a pleasant surprise.

I needed to pick up some old lady meds at the pharmacy and I like an idiot forgot that I had a vape in my pocket. Again my bad. I didn't even find it when I was first trying to find metal stuff for the scan. So second time around it was like oh! and I dropped it into the box. Now at this time an ideal response without human touch would have been to say we're sorry you cannot proceed with a vape into this hospital. If you could make arrangements to store it elsewhere and come back there won't be a problem. I would have profusely apologized feeling like the idiot. I would have grabbed the material and instantly exited if I had received that response. But instead what I got was extremely offensive to me as a person with ASD and heavy trauma background. As if my only intention had been to somehow get deep into the hospital and vape up a cloud the security person in an elevated tone of voice says "You can't bring a vape in here!" Then he gets in front of me and starts pawing at me. Then he starts pawing at the rest of the stuff in the basket as if the wallet and keys belong to him and he refused to surrender the keys to me! Then his compatriots joined him all MALE. A straightforward and clear communication was all I needed and would have happily responded to as admittedly I was in the wrong. They would have gotten profuse apologies for me on the way out as I felt very foolish for forgetting that. But now I find myself in the aftermath literally not able to stop shaking as so much trauma got triggered as well as my ASD by pawing incompetent and aggressive MALES. A real turn off and a real world warning to women especially those who have similar conditions as my own. I would recommend not going alone. Bring someone with you who is big. Or don't even go through unless you see a woman at the security station. You have been warned.

The PCP I have is great, however, I have been messaging them, and messaging them for over a month…read morenow just to get the blood pressure medication I was prescribed by my PCP sent to my pharmacy! No one has returned my messages or the messages left by my pharmacy. My blood pressure is high again because I have been unable to get them to send my prescription to my pharmacy! This has to change! Patients can't go without their medications! I hate to leave a review like this, but this is medical neglect, and definitely not the standard of care!

I reported to the 3rd floor Adult Medicine, and they had me wait. When they wanted to speak to me, they came out and spoke to me directly. My retina scan was non-invasive. It took about 20-30 secs per eye. Absolutely amazing! No more dilation drops, and wearing crazy sunglasses. The blood pressure check was easy. You get three attempts to pass. I've never had that happen to me at any urgent care facility and I went there because it was close to home, but I hightailed it out of there and went to Sutter's urgent care, where I was charged my regular office visit co-pay. There's not much to complain about yet, as it's bright, new, super clean, fancy plastic shields and partitions. Also, the few times I've been there, the clerks were efficient and friendly. According to the Kaiser webpage, the discharge Rx is intended to handle urgent need orders and dispense meds to discharged patients. There's chairs available, and some OTC stock. It's current hours are 24/7.
