Well I'm alive. I came in for a seizure unconscious after living 15 years in San Leandro and had no idea this place existed. When I came to they essentially sent me home with my family. I've never been able to leave hospital that fast after a seizure. I posted on next door about this place and a gal who lived 55 years in the manor didn't know this existed either. Funny enough I'm a regular at Harry's so I was shocked I never noticed this place. They aren't really close but aren't far either. My family said there was a dude on a refrigerator mover with cops covering him and a spit mask on his face. lol. read more

This review is only for their outpatient surgery center. Came here to drop off my partner for her elbow surgery This was our first time at San Leandro Hospital. We arrived early and had to enter through the emergency department--which felt a bit cramped, but it was nice having security present at the entrance. Not that it was an unsafe area but you never know who comes into the ED. The hospital itself feels a bit older, but the surgery center looked more updated. The team used ultrasound guidance for the nerve block. The anesthesiologist was both competent and kind, and the nurses were great--professional and compassionate. [[HIGHLIGHT]]One highlight: After the surgery, the team was very communicative. I got phone updates from both the nurses and the doctor, which helped ease a lot of anxiety during the wait.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There's plenty of parking, and overall, the experience went smoothly. My husband received excellent care at the San Leandro Emergency Room. He was assisted inside by staff and was able to walk out to the car unassisted after treatment. I highly recommend this hospital. It's like a small town hospital with big city doctors and personal care. After Hayward Highland really messed up my IV and it took them SEVEN 7!! Tries under the skin to get the IV in, not 4 days later Debbie at San Leandro Hospital got it on the FIRST try!! After Highland's attempts I look like Donald Trump on both hands. HUGE bruises. Nothing after Debbie's IV. The Security Service is better, the care is better, the Admissions Office is better. Just no comparison. The emergency room use to be terrible. It has gotten extremely better this past year or two. They have a really great system. They take care of me great and have me in and out when needed. I've never had to wait too long to be seen. I don't think I would come here for anything too serious though. Have been in the hospital, I have had family, and friends in this hospital. Sorry to have to say that it has been consistently not a good experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Recently went to visit a friend, at the security check in and where you find out what room a person is in,the young man although he was polite he just didn't understand the name and after a few or more attempts he gave us the room #[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We'll we went up to.the room before we got to the floor we asked where the room was a nurse told us but stopped us saying our friend was drunk and wanted to be released they said to wait because they had to clean him up. We were confused so we waited about 15 minutes and finally we checked on him well it was a disgusting mess and it wasn't our friend smelly and gross. The nurses are angels and I can only say, it's the only thing that has saved them I give the nurses 5 stars. It was Upsetting hearing our friend was drunk? And had made a huge poop mess ? The care here was ok, they took my insurance information, but two weeks latter I received a bill from them. Tried to call Their billing department but could not get through. Finally used an online form to once again give them my insurance information, and I then received A response that they had now billed my insurance. There is something wrong with this hospital when 1) You can not talk to anybody about things like this And 2) The hospital takes your insurance information and does not forward it to billing department. Rude and sloppy scheduling staff - also liars. Went for a mammogram. They said I had the wrong date. Then they gave me a new one. I HAD HER WRITE IT DOWN. My spidey sense told me to call before I trekked over there. No one picked up and had to leave a message. 30 min later she called me back to yell at me and say my date was a Tuesday morning I have been a teacher for 15 years. so I know when my schedule is and would never make an apt. for such a time. My mom is currently staying here in the rehab center (once we leave I will update my review to detail care) Nice small hospital, very convenient to get to, a big parking lot. They have a really nice rehab center on the 4th floor and a rehab therapy center on the 3rd floor. Security is a hit or miss, some are nice and others are rude. Current visiting hours are 11 to 6, 2 visitors are allowed a day for up to 4 hours (each). Main exit of hospital closes at 5:50 so if you do stay until 6 you have to exit through the emergency (looks like they are doing some construction inside as there is plastic on the floor in the lobby) Food service is pretty good, they have a good variety of items. My mom is Muslim so she only eats Halal meats so they listed her as a vegetarian and accommodated her on getting fish. read more

Never been to a hospital feeling so unwelcomed and feeling bad for being sick and them having to treat me. The attitude and unprofessionalism of these nurses... The blatant negligence! They will leave the door wide open with the screen wide open if you're in pain, and you see a nurse walking past your door, and you call out a nurse they don't even turn to look in your direction they completely ignore you. This particular nurse who was taking care of me,(if you want to call it that) kept making dismissive and irritative responses to my cries when I was in severe pain with dismissive responses like "yeah sure, totally you'll be fine" in the middle of me explaining my horrible experience suffering from vertigo. They make you feel unwelcome and guilty for even being sick being there like you're wasting their time. read more

The doctor, Edris Afzli actually told me, "You need to get used to the pain." First of all, you HAVE NO idea what I had to get used to and NO ONE should have to get used to their pain if it's at a 9! He talked to me less than 40 seconds, mumbled words and kept going on about back spasms! My back wasn't the problem.....!.him, plus the nurses kept going on about other scans...never happened. They wouldn't let me drink water for the ultrasound and then when I get back there, "I can't take good images." the woman doing the scan said. Well, Herpy derpy derpy derp derp, you don't say? Meanwhile, everyone else around me were in a great deal of pain. I felt sorry for the man next to me because the nurses were waiting for an order from the doctor to give this man pain meds...never came. An hour later the nurse had to GO HUNT down the doctor and request this patient's meds in person. I only know all this because you can hear EVERYTHING. These people could have a different doctor than mine, but nurses couldn't find my doctor either. Side note: Yes, the bathroom is disgusting. The nurses left OPEN the curtain and when I closed it, she asked why. ME: I don't feel like flashing my goods to the world, that's why. read more

My son got sick right before Christmas and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance on December 21, 2023. He was coughing and vomiting everything in him. When I arrived about a half an hour after he had gotten there, he was in the emergency room and he was having trouble breathing, and was in heart failure due to all the fluid in his lungs. I thought I was going to lose him, but the nurses and respiratory therapist and doctors got to work on him and he was transferred to intensive care, by the time I left he was stable and I was very tired, but very happy my son was out of danger and on his way to recovery. The care they gave him was outstanding. He continued to get better every day and was released the day before Christmas Eve I was ecstatic!!!!! Thanks to the wonderful care he received at this hospital, everyone was so kind and helpful. This hospital is the best and I want to thank the staff, nurses, doctors and guards in the emergency room and the staff and doctors, nurses in intensive care for saving my sons life and giving him excellent care. Please don't let me forget the ambulance that picked him up they were phenomenal in getting him prepped and getting him to the hospital so fast. Thank you all!!!! read more

Just brought my husband here today because we suspect he has appendicitis. There's no sense of organization in the ER, waiting room and a few people were taken ahead of him. I wish I could be inside the hospital with him but I'm in the car because it's simpler than having to explain to the guard (he asked twice within 3 minutes) that I'm waiting with my husband and of course COVID. I came to visit this ER a few months ago because it was the closest to where I live. My daughter was having an egg allergic reaction. The nurse an older heavyset white complexion told me that my insurance was going to charge me thousands of dollars to be seen I should go to Kaiser if not I would be billed. I know how insurance works if it's an emergency my insurance will definitely cover it and my daughter was having a reaction so I didn't care. They made us wait too long so I went to Kaiser once we got there my daughters symptoms got worse she was she bumped up all over her body. Prior to that she was not responding. I wanted to give 1 star but a few months later Jawanna Singleton reached out to follow up. She was very understanding and apologized for the treatment we did not receive. Although the hospital is not apart of my insurance plan it is apart of community and I'm excited to see what's to come. I wish her all the best luck read more

I ended up in ER in the late afternoon. I was admitted with 30 minutes. I have been here more than a few times in the last 4 years. There is not one time I was treated by any staff, medical, janitorial or food with nothing less than the highest standard of professionalism. I am so grateful to live in a city that has this jem in its heart. And the food! I was starving when I was admitted, so I got a sad little ham sandwich, but at least I got Mayo and mustard to dress it up! And then, here comes the kitchen with a tray for me! I had steak and buttered egg noodles with steamed zucchini, I can't remember the rest because I ate too fast! Today, I had scrambled eggs with bell peppers and onions, English muffins, cream of wheat coffee and a fruit cup. For lunch I'm having Salisbury steak and rice with steamed zucchini and summer squash with cherry jello. And for dinner tonight I'm having Pork loin over rice with steamed carrots and apple sauce Lemon chiffon cake, ice tea. Oh and I get all the snacks I request. Cookies, sodas, jello, fruits, juices, plus sad little sandwiches. So if you're a miserable ding dong, yeah this place is too good for you. But if you come here to get help and be on the mend, know this: GOOD PEOPLE WORK HERE! THEY WANT TO HELP YOU! read more

This review is only for the imaging department. I needed to get an X-ray and was wary of going to the hospital because of covid but it was the preferred place of my doctor's office. From the security guard to the check in clerk to the imaging staff, everyone was so kind and helpful. I was afraid it would be really packed and result in too much exposure. But thankfully, there was NO other patient there and the only people I saw were the staff. An extra shout out to the imaging team...in particular to Louise! She was AMAZING! The Doctor put in an incorrect order, instead of ordering it bilateral. And I did NOT want to come back and get imaging again. Louise was completely understanding of my need and reached out to the doctor's office and nearly immediately got the order changed. I've had other places that refuse to call the doctor's office to change things because they don't want to go thru the work to do so. So I really appreciate their effort. They were also very gentle with my X-rays to make sure I wasn't in a position that would make my pain worse and after completing the X-ray, a lady came in right away to clean up after me. Louise also helped me to acquire the CD right after the X-ray so that I wouldn't have to return to fill out more paperwork. She even helped to take me to my car. As Louise said herself, she just does for the patient what she would want done for herself :)! read more

The staff At this hospital is uncaring and rude. They choose who is going to get the best care by race. The Dr. that I saw was rushing and uncaring. The other staff was no help. I waited in a room for hours to be told I would have to go to Highland. I was in pain and knew something wasn't right but the Dr did not send me for a ultra sound and was not going to give me a blood test until the nurse asked or suggested it. I felt like Black women's healthcare is scarce compared to white women. I felt overlooked. It saddens me to know how rude and unorganized this place is. read more

Stopped by the ER a couple of weeks ago cuz I thought I was dying of a heart attack. Checked in around 6:50 pm at the front counter. Lady was kind and friendly. They were able to take my insurance, so I wouldn't have to pay $5,000 later on. In-take nurse calls me in and asks me a bunch of questions regarding my medical history. He didn't seem too friendly and smelled like cigarettes. After that, someone calls me in to get an EKG. The technician was calm and reassured me that everything would be A-OK. I had some pretty good conversations with him too. About an hour later, they drew some blood. An hour after that, they took an X-ray of my chest. An hour later, I saw this nice lady doctor. She reassured me that I was not dying of a heart attack or anything else for that matter. However, she told me that I was severely dehydrated and needed to drink more water. I was able to leave around 11:50 pm. It took 5 hours, but the people who work here are pretty amazing. I have never met such an amazing team of medical professionals. I hope they are well compensated for going above and beyond the call of duty. TIP: If you decide to visit this place, please bring your Kindle (which I did) or a something to watch. I have had two interactions with this hospital. the first was when I was sick me and my son were there and it was ok but today I went to visit and pick up a friend and they said my son who's 9 could not visit or be in the hospital. the nurse was a rude lady who yelled at my son for asking to use the bathroom. my friend literally had like 10 min left and need help walking and they made us leave cuz he wasn't 12 . they made my son feel scarred and upset it was not ok and I have never heard of a hospital not allowing child to visit family. read more

Wow ! I had to go to ER yesterday , September 15 at the San Leandro hospital and guess what I got Excellent Service not many people in ER thank god and I was seen really quick ! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have to say this was a good day and I had a fantastic doctor and nurses one of the nurses really went out of her way to comfort me Sabrina ![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I needed to be seen pretty quick since it involved chest pains! They did ekg and blood work , chest X-rays ect ! The doc there was making sure all was ok and checking my whole body I loved it ! And I was hungry I asked the doc in ER if I could get some food which I couldn't eat until they did all there tests but, he was kind enough to order me food I had breaded chicken patty thick one and sweet potatoes and spinach not bad and hot tea and after words I even had a turkey sandwich because the chicken patty was a little spicy to me ! They made me feel really comfortable and to top that off the young man who took my blood was so gentle with vein I didn't even feel the poke !! Saw ny own blood no big deal lol ! Everyone here is SO nice! I come here for work. On my first visit, I was very impressed. I was early, so I sat in the lobby and observed. All the employees were so pleasant to each other and to visitors. The person at the front desk was friendly and so helpful. Doctor and nurses are rude and condescending. They don't listen, frequently cutting you off when are talking, speaking to you gruffly and lacking common curtesy. For example, Failure to consult with patient to verify what pharmacy to send prescription to. Mine was sent to a mail order pharmacy I no longer use. I asked if I was going to get a written prescription and thus discovered the error. It was corrected but I shutter to think of the headache and inconvenience it would have caused me. The building and rooms were very clean but the staff left a lot to be desired. I treated them with respect. I deserved to be treated with respect in return. read more
