    Reception area surgery

This review is only for their outpatient surgery center. Came here to drop off my partner for her elbow surgery This was our first time at San Leandro Hospital. We arrived early and had to enter through the emergency department--which felt a bit cramped, but it was nice having security present at the entrance. Not that it was an unsafe area but you never know who comes into the ED. The hospital itself feels a bit older, but the surgery center looked more updated. The team used ultrasound guidance for the nerve block. The anesthesiologist was both competent and kind, and the nurses were great--professional and compassionate. One highlight: After the surgery, the team was very communicative. I got phone updates from both the nurses and the doctor, which helped ease a lot of anxiety during the wait. There's plenty of parking, and overall, the experience went smoothly. While it's not the flashiest facility, the staff made all the difference. I'd recommend their outpatient surgery center if you're looking for a caring, communicative team.

I would like to rate this higher because the folks here really do try but I had a very negative…read moreexperience today. And I think folks with ASD and assault trauma like me do need to read this. Admittedly the error started with me. Getting old is no fun and my memory is a swiss cheese. Nonetheless my bad for not triple checking everything. I needed to pick up some old lady meds at the pharmacy and I like an idiot forgot that I had a vape in my pocket. Again my bad. I didn't even find it when I was first trying to find metal stuff for the scan. So second time around it was like oh! and I dropped it into the box. Now at this time an ideal response without human touch would have been to say we're sorry you cannot proceed with a vape into this hospital. If you could make arrangements to store it elsewhere and come back there won't be a problem. I would have profusely apologized feeling like the idiot. I would have grabbed the material and instantly exited if I had received that response. But instead what I got was extremely offensive to me as a person with ASD and heavy trauma background. As if my only intention had been to somehow get deep into the hospital and vape up a cloud the security person in an elevated tone of voice says "You can't bring a vape in here!" Then he gets in front of me and starts pawing at me. Then he starts pawing at the rest of the stuff in the basket as if the wallet and keys belong to him and he refused to surrender the keys to me! Then his compatriots joined him all MALE. A straightforward and clear communication was all I needed and would have happily responded to as admittedly I was in the wrong. They would have gotten profuse apologies for me on the way out as I felt very foolish for forgetting that. But now I find myself in the aftermath literally not able to stop shaking as so much trauma got triggered as well as my ASD by pawing incompetent and aggressive MALES. A real turn off and a real world warning to women especially those who have similar conditions as my own. I would recommend not going alone. Bring someone with you who is big. Or don't even go through unless you see a woman at the security station. You have been warned.

No one has returned my messages or the messages left by my pharmacy. My blood pressure is high again because I have been unable to get them to send my prescription to my pharmacy! This has to change! Patients can't go without their medications! I hate to leave a review like this, but this is medical neglect, and definitely not the standard of care!

Very non-professiolal in many aspects of patient care…read more Administrative guidance greatly lacking. Patients go uniformed on critical issues when making a personal inquiry about their health. Doctors and so-called specialists are not consistent with follow-ups. Communication with charge nursing staff is hit an miss. Appointment are and transportation is botched. Paperwork is lost or NOT scanned into record. State ADA Compliance is in serious violation causing injuries due to slip and falls causing broken bones and abrasions to Patients. Administration is slow to respond if at all to patiens request for ADA equipment and or assistant. Server sanitary, wheelchair and lack of grab bar issues go un-adressed. California States Attorney General Rob Bonta needs to open an immediate investigation in to Fairmont Hospital Operations, Practices, ADA Violations and Administrative Incompetencey. I spent a month in another hospital first. I heard bad stories of Fairmont. They are not true. It's an old facility, the patients are very poor desperate people. That being said the nursing staff is attentive, caring and there is good coverage. The doctors, especially Dr. Washington are knowledgeable and caring. Best of all are the PT and OT teams! They work so hard to get you better. Truly first class. The food is actually decent . They take your orders a day in advance. I wish there was a little more privacy as it's 3-4 to a large room . But I give them five stars for care.
