I stopped at the coffee bar inside the Fairmont Olympic and ordered a drip coffee and a breakfast wrap. I waited patiently for about 20 minutes before asking about my food, only to discover that my order had been forgotten. When the wrap finally arrived, I ate about half before realizing the hash browns--one of its main ingredients--were missing entirely. The total was $22.11. That number matters. Some people work an entire hour to earn $22. When someone exchanges an hour's worth of labor for a simple breakfast and coffee, there should be care on the other side of that exchange. I don't expect perfection, and I understand that mistakes happen. But being forgotten and then receiving an incomplete meal is more than one small oversight--it reflects a lack of attention at two separate points in the experience. At a property with the reputation and price point of the Fairmont Olympic, I expected hospitality to feel more thoughtful than this. $22.11 should buy more than food and coffee; it should buy a reasonable level of care in how they are served. read more

Finally had a chance to stay at the Fairmont Olympic this weekend. As one of the iconic hotels of Seattle I had high expectations. Unfortunately they where not meet. The staff for the most part where great. Check in went smooth and very friendly. Throughout the weekend when I was able to interact with a human it was great. Unfortunately when checking out I delt with Ayden who did not seem to take the issues we had seriously and I felt he blew me off. He was also supposed to alert Valet we where leaving but it still took over 20 min to get our car and I had to go to the Valet area myself. We stayed in a deluxe king room. The room itself was very nice size. Couch and chairs are comfortable. The bed was amazing as where the pillows. I would think about staying here again for those. One downside is there are only 2 outlets and 1 usb(which did not work) in the main area to charge devices. The handset on the phone did not work(I was later told this was hotel wide issue) so ordering room service or anything was difficult since you had to shout at the speaker phone. On the subject of ordering room service the hotel is using an AI system for concierge. You have to yell at it to get a human. For the price I paid for these rooms I want to speak to a human not a computer when I need something. The bathroom had most of the issues. When you turn the lights out in the bathroom you can see how dirty the walls are. Smudged from years of people touching the wall paper and never cleaned. The shower water pressure was horrible and the stopper in the shower did not work so we couldn't use the bathtub. Finally when I got our bill I notice they add on a bunch of taxes to parking so the advertised $65 for valet parking ends up being almost $80/night. Overall the value of what you get vs the price for the room did not balance out. read more

The staff here are incredible. They clean your room every day and offer turn down service in the evening. I really enjoyed the gym and pool. The room was very clean. Solo weekend in Seattle! I'm a gold Accor member, so I was upgraded to a beautiful one bedroom suite. Everything was perfect about this room! The bed was comfy, bathroom was clean and well stocked, plenty of closet space, spacious living room, and Nespresso machine. I even had a peak view of water! The location is great and very easy to get around as a solo traveler. The hotel itself has many options, but there are many wonderful restaurants within walking distance (and safe). I walked down to Pike's place in less then 10 minutes and felt safe the entire time. I've been to Seattle many times, so I didn't do much of the touristy stuff. I just walked around where the day lead me and had a great time! The only minor annoyance was that I had a knock on the door around 8:00 in the morning (with my no disturb sign on). It woke me up and I didn't answer it. Then I got a call asking if they could deliver something. Although I highly appreciate the Accor member gift (chocolate I think), I didn't appreciate the wake up. Upon check out, I mentioned this and of course they apologized. It would not change me staying here again as the hotel itself is great! Pros- convenient location, beautiful hotel, excellent service Con- not much! This is the hotel that we picked for when we were in Seattle which is the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. Came during the holiday season in December and I have to say there was so much going on in this hotel. From private events, people visiting each other to a super long check-in process. But the lobby was lively and full of character. I loved how there are so many places you can be lounging around and sitting on couches. I also enjoyed the huge Christmas tree. I even tried some of the restaurants inside the hotel! They were delicious and you should for sure check out the Shuckers for some tasty oysters. Sat at the bar and had a delight! Overall if you want to see a real Christmas spirit this hotel had it and got it! The service was nice and the hotel room was nice and large. Safety-wise, it seemed like a super safe spot in the city. We walked a lot from our hotel to the major sites as well. So that is doable! read more

1st time experiencing high tea at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. Service was attentive, server informed us quite well regarding the tea selections as well as recommendations, along with the finger foods being served. Introduced our 16 y/o granddaughter to the high tea experience, she was quite pleased and enjoyed herself. The served eats were delicious, well presented and surprisingly we all felt fully satisfied. A friend and I went to the Fairmont for their Nutcracker Afternoon Tea and it was underwhelming. For the price tag of $105 I would have expected better service than what we received. It felt like most of the time we were ignored by staff, and while the table next to us continued to be serviced attentively, multiple times we had to ask for someone to help us. They also forgot to bring certain items with our meal, which required us again having to flag someone down to ask for help. If any of these one things would have occurred I would have understood, but the multiple occurrences just made it a somewhat frustrating experience. The food itself was fine. The sandwiches tasted fresh, the scones were good and the desserts were tasty. If it wasn't for the service, the food and tea itself would be about a 4-star experience. read more

In the lobby there is a bar and lots of comfortable seating all around. There are shops in the basement area. There is a staircase where you can upstairs to take a picture of the lobby. There is a library area by the lobby. Lots of comfy chairs to sit and relax. Enjoy the surroundings of books and people in the library The bedrooms are very spacious. The bed is very comfortable. I've never felt like not going back to a hotel the way this place had made my bf and I feel during our stay Thanksgiving night. It was soured in the beginning, the Assist Director of Rooms tried to make it up, we tried to make the best of it, checked out thinking we all good. Come weekday, we still dealing with them & having to make contact. What kind of 5 star experience is that? The price point you pay, the excitement and good anxious coming up to the vacation and then boom. 3 star service covered up with 5 star chatter. Staff had really made our thanksgiving suck, then go home and see we were charged with what was supposed to be "food credit" to our room. After almost an hour of back and forth about getting the actual room we paid and booked for. Nope, they downgraded us from what we booked, blamed third party then tried to make up for it for food credit. Then never even put the food credit to our room, charging us the WHOLE bill. When I walk into a Fairmont, I expect easy check in, easy problem solving with little involvement of the guest and make the rest of check out and trip smooth and no problems. That's exactly the opposite of what we experienced. Staff had really made our Thanksgiving suck, we were ready to go home. They had moved us to a different "better" room to make up for it. Yet, more time was still wasted as it took awhile for the staff to help my bf with the luggage and my dog to the new room. And I couldn't go down to help because I was left in the new room with no room key. We lost more than we received in this Fairmont experience. (**PSA- DIRTY ass forks from room service. The Fairmont has been a staple happy hour location for my friend group. You can't beat the convenient location and ultra comfy seating. I wish seating was a little better organized for large groups, but we can usually find a spot without problems. The menu is robust with plenty of options for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. This is a beautiful location, very atmospheric old building full of historical charm and beautiful details, if you love architecture and old world charm that modern society usually lacks in, then come here. I haven't stayed the night here but I have come for afternoon tea service. The tea service was quite nice, it is not an English style tea service but still holds lots of elegance. The teas are all fantastic and I suggest the "madam butterfly" if you like jasmine tea. The food was okay, I loved the prawn puff and the scones. Our server was a great wealth of knowledge and took her time explaining the teas, hotel, service offered and even all the other fairmont hotels around the country. It was a lovely experience. And if anyone from this hotel chain reads this- PLEASE consider a hotel store. Somewhere to purchase historical trinkets related to the hotels history as well as some of the hotels unique tea blend or even some of the honey made from the hotel apiary. The Fairmont Olympic is for suckers who don't know better. A dilapidated collapsing antique from ancient better times that is a poorly run half assed hotel where the best years were decades ago. One of the best examples of the collapse of America I've seen recently. Motel 6 would have been better. One of the worst hotel experiences we've had in the last few years and we travel frequently. We rented the Presidential Suite and the attached Suite for our friends. I booked this months in advance, set everything up with management through email and felt good that everything was squared away. Sure enough everything got screwed up the day of and this place is a great example of why Seattle is an awful place. Showing up the place was completely mobbed with all sorts of people trying really really hard to look like they're high society in this old place... that can't afford more than one person on the check-in desk or more than one bartender. So there's huge lines... in a supposed 5 star hotel... I spent thousands of dollars to stay in this place for less than 20 hours and I had to stand in line for over 30 minutes to check in... I then get some moron at the front desk who completely misunderstands me, completely difficult to understand and proceeds to completely screw up my reservations. I can't believe someone this braindead is the only guy on the front desk on a Saturday. This guy could **** up a lemonade stand. We do this for 15 minutes Then some lady appears and gives me a song and dance about how they always meet their VIPs who rent their Presidential Suite but she couldn't get hold of us... okay sure, I guess my conversations with the managers and my info through the hotel and Amex doesn't count. So it took two hours for us to unscrew this giant mess the front desk caused for us. I guess I'm supposed to know how this place works better than employees since they seemed completely mystified that I had reserved two suites instead of one. This stupidity took them a brain trust and hours to figure out. So we're up in the Presidential Suite. It's big I guess, but the four phones in the Suite don't work, there's a sewer smell in the main bathroom which was delightful and the whole room was so hot at the beginning of May that we could not sleep. Our guests in their room also had the same issue. The air conditioning and maintenance at this place is on the level of "Good Luck, Bro." The rooms were so warm, it was darn near impossible to sleep. This was early May... these rooms will be impossible once the Seattle summer hits. We would have done better at Motel 6 because the entire point of a hotel is to rest away from home. And if we can't sleep in your hotel because it's dilapidated and the air condition is false hope, then your hotel has failed, massively. I also felt belittled by the lady in charge after dealing with her front desk guy for 15 minutes as she explained they always meet their VIPs and make an effort to greet them. I know that, lady. I know you're failing at your job. But I'm trying to remain calm and polite... in the face of your screwing my reservations, wasting my time and aggravating me... while you're running off with thousands of dollars of my money. I don't need to be talked down to about your job while you're miserably failing at it. And it was cute that you tried to reframe it that it's my fault for this terrible experience. The Good is the Afternoon Tea was fascinating. Our server David made it a really great experience. I really want to thank the Concierge service and Sayaka who was AWESOME!!!! We had an issue where we needed to mail some antique champagne bottles before getting on a cruise. Sayaka could not have been more awesome. Sayaka and David were the two best parts of our experience. Suckers will think this place is luxurious as they're waiting in lines for everything and with nothing working. If you want to pay double for the same dilapidated hotel box with a bed as everywhere else to feel special then good for you. One of the funniest experiences of middle aged life is finding out money doesn't matter. I grew up and worked very hard to achieve success assuming the wealthy didn't have to deal with the idiotic problems of daily life. The last few years traveling around the world, it has been very funny discovering that there is even more problems with wealth, everything is even more screwed up and you got to deal with even more idiocy... just the idiots are wearing suits. The Fairmont Olympic is one of best examples I've seen of the collapse of Seattle and the collapse of the United States. A supposed 5 star hotel in complete decline that can't afford proper staffing or proper 5 star facilities because of Seattle law/politics and can't get proper maintenance due to the collapse of the economy. They have suckers lined out of the door. Yet with all that revenue this business is barely functioning. I had to tell my wife several times "It's okay, we'll out of here soon." read more

This hotel is beautiful. The lobby is moody with dark wood, gleaming brass, and plush seating. I did not stay here so this revoiew is for the honey vodka that is available for purchase by the bottle. The honey is made on the hotel rooftop but sadly we weren't allowed to see the hives. The vodka is expensive but it is very delicious. Kudos to Ashley, the dining manager, that was so very helpful in getting us a nice bottle to gift my niece. When I'm next in town I plan to stay at this lovely hotel. read more

We loved our stay here. The entire place is beautiful, from the lobby to the rooms. All the staff we encountered were so polite, and the macarons left in our room were such a nice surprise. It's a great location within a short walking distance to Pike Place. My only complaint is that we tried to go to the bar one night, and it was busy at the time but we weren't acknowledged at all. Between the quiet and demure atmosphere, professional and accommodating staff, and absolutely delightful tea's, I give the highest praise to their tea room. I especially recommend the Ontario ice wine tea and truffle egg salad sandwiches. Some of the snacks like the matcha cakes and the roast beef sandwiches weren't the best, But our waiter David fixed that up by loading my plate full of scrumptious egg salad. The Fairmont makes you feel glamorous. A getaway from Seattle's hustle and bustle. Their high tea and service is exceptional and reminds me of the Empress Hotel in Victoria. The sandwiches and pastries are outstanding and the bite sized goodness melts in your mouth. The decor is beautiful and the hotel back corridors remind me of a Wes Anderson movie. I highly recommend this experience if in Seattle. It may not be on a radar for someone if they are prioritizing the Space Needle, Pike Place Market and other destinations. I promise you won't be disappointment. It is pricy and it is an experience. I would suggest coming here with loved ones, your parents, or grandparents. They surely will find it memorable. This review is purely for the afternoon tea service! Ive been to the fairmont for the afternoon tea a handful of times from 2023-2024 and thought it was the BEST afternoon tea in the Seattle area. I came back last weekend for a birthday afternoon tea. I noticed that they changed the usual tableware from the delicate porcelain with gold accents to a more clunky pure white china i thought the new tableware was cute but it felt less fancy in my taste. The starter here has always been a devonshire cream with fruit. Again they changed the delicate glass that came with a cloche to what looked like one of those glass yogurt containers that you would normally recycle. This change did not excite me as the new glass vessel had a smaller opening and was more difficult to get bites out of. The tea tower looked the same but had obvious differences taste wise. I found that most things in the tower needed salt or some flavor. Cucumber sandwiches were bland compared to the past. The usual truffle egg salad is now just regular egg salad and is more dry than in the past. The scones were the same as before which made me happy! I was told that these changes had happened because there was a new chef and new management and I wasn't surprised. I think that if there are going to be changes they should be obvious improvements. From my point of view there were no improvements and if there is a precedent of quality then they should aim to at least meet that level of quality if not surpassing it. We were really disappointed with our stay at the Fairmont in Seattle. After such a lovely experience at the Fairmont Vancouver, we were genuinely looking forward to another great visit--but unfortunately, things got off on the wrong foot. At check-in, we were told our room wasn't ready, and our family ended up lingering in the lobby for over an hour. To make matters worse, another family member--who booked the exact same room type--was able to check in after we arrived. There was also no follow-up from the front desk once our room was finally ready. Unlike our previous stay, there were no welcome treats or fun extras like a scavenger hunt for the kids. Room service was confusing and the order wasn't correct, though to their credit, they did resolve the issue quickly. It's hard to say whether this was just an off day or a sign that we should consider staying elsewhere next time. read more

We waited in line for 20mins to be seated, and only after we took the initiative to "push in front" to ask the hostess if this was appropriate if we had a reservation. We were then seated in the bar area at an uncomfortably small and low table. Service was slow enough for us to comment on lack of service before our waitress appeared. She was warm and friendly, but possibly had too many tables to give us proper attention. She asked what the occasion was - my friend's 40th - which I mentioned on the reservation, but nothing special was done to acknowledge this. The tea itself was fine, but the presentation was nothing special. The pastries and sandwiches were mostly disappointing - a touch stale and scant cream for the scones. Nothing was memorable or delightful (other than the berries and cream, and the chocolate mousse, which were amazing.) My company was fantastic and I had a lovely time, despite the lacklustre food and seating, but for over $300 for the two of us with tip, I felt that it should have been far superior. Our server was super friendly and helpful explaining how the tea service would go. I ordered the earl grey and my friend ordered the orange pekoe. Both teas were nice and plentiful with plenty of water topoffs. The food was also plentiful - kind of a lunch and a half per person. The food was good but not amazing - kind of banquet style. I did especially like the egg salad sandwich and the scone was nice as well. Honestly was shocked at how low tier this hotel is. Everything from dining to room experience was shockingly low quality. Save your money and try any other hotel in Seattle. Room: White stains on couch / furniture (gross), one ply toilet paper, paid for corner suite with city view and got a middle building suite with building blocking any view. Room wasn't ready until after check in time. Room Service: Worst ceasar salad I've ever had. Bagged salad quality with an overwhelming fishy taste from the croutons to the lettuce (without the dressing even on yet..). Fresh anchovies (not cooked) placed on top with skin still on. For $20, I would hope for something edible. Breakfast (The George): Bacon was flavorless and not salty (didn't know that was possible), eggs were rubbery, toast was not buttered and stale (seemed like it was toasted hours before). Servers noticed and comped the meal which was appreciated. The only star given is to the staff, it's not their fault that the hotel lacks quality. I will say, one comment was made by front desk that "breakfast will be busy due to other Amex card holders", when I asked about what time it's open. I could due without being grouped with other guests with the same credit card as me. That set the tone for how they view certain reservations (viewing us less than other guests). read more

I had very positive interactions with valet, the front desk staff, and servers at the restaurants and bars. They were all warm, welcoming, and eager to assist. Our room was small, despite being upgraded on checkin. View was decent, facing inwards towards the city. Bed was comfortable, especially early in the night, but I could tell its age by the morning. Shower and bathroom amenities were nice. The coffee bar and carton of flow water on the desk were not great, because there was no clear indication if these were complementary or part of the mini-bar. The hallways of the hotel lacked significant character. The lobby, bar, and rooms are where they saved the character for. The Olympic Bar provided delicious drinks and food, with friendly and attentive staff, though was very pricey. This was one of the most pleasant and seamless stays I've had a hotel in a long time. We purchased a Junior Suite for the weekend. The staff, from beginning to end, were immensely accommodating. My wife used very pleased with the gym area on the 2nd floor and I was very pleased that the staff made every accommodation to make us feel comfortable. The staff event went the extra mile and all signed a birthday card for her which I didn't expect. That was a very kind touch. The bedrooms sleep very comfortably and we had a nice city view. Everyone is so kind and want to ensure that the experience is a joyful one. For us, it was. I'm so glad I choose this hotel for our stay. It is perfectly situated and is walking distance to nearly everything that we wanted to visit in downtown Seattle. You will not be disappointed. Bravo! read more
