The only sadness is finding the owners still living in the plastic prison built by COVID. A necessity of the past, perhaps we should feel safer? No, we should just be thankful they're still here and hopeful that they'll return to a life with fewer borders. Thriving in the remains of an old restaurant building  this kitchen's consistency blossoms in the twilight each morning and has such a strong following that customers know they have to get here early. Unless (of course) you're a casual drop-in or a slow learner that failed to heed advice. After my several years of stopping in, I'm certain your mileage will vary only in product availability (assuming you're one to heed advice.) The only thing better than supporting a small shop and finding the cupboard almost bare because business has been so brisk is arriving early enough to have a choice from a full display case. Most ingredients and recipes are certainly franchised, but the consistency is 100% local effort. The apple fritters - bar none - are the best for miles around. They go so fast that I wouldn't be surprised if one were to have become a qualifier for the Indy 500. The old-fashioned cake donuts are true to the ways of shops older than I am and the rest of the offerings are delectable. If you know kolaches, you'll find what's offered here are klobasnek...Texas-sized klobasnek. And they're worth gobbling (especially the jalapeno variety.) The coffee is every day coffee. How do I know these donuts are the best in the area? My husband and I were in the Jingo Java line and they recognized our donuts/croissant sandwich immediately! For the best experience at this no-frills spot, show up early for a wide selection! We ordered a variety including a twist, pink sprinkles, and sugared donut. They were all solid choices and I also added on a croissant breakfast sandwich. My sandwich was heavier than expected, not very flakey but more of a soft bun in a croissant shape. We heard their apple fritters were amazing when eaten hot and fresh, but sadly they were out by the time we arrived. We'll have to come earlier next time! read more

With the Covid pandemic in full swing I must begin this review with a caveat. This is only a partial review of Fairview's donuts since I was unable to visit the store in person. Nonetheless, a neighbor was kind enough to bring a box of donuts back for me to try. And I'm glad he did. Summary: tender, mouth-pleasing sweet and delightful doughy delights. Tender meaning slightly more toothsome than Krispy K and about the same as Dunkin'. Yet these also had a nicer mouth-feel than the latter. Almost reminded me of a potato-based flour ... but not quite. Glaze...pretty ordinary and sweet. I absolutely will return to try the delicious-looking Apple Fritters and the Old-fashioned cake-style...along withe the breakfast sandwiches. My mouth is watering as I write this. My viewpoint will not be popular. My family and I have frequented Fairview Donuts dozens of times as we live a mile and a half away. First, when they're on, they're on. Yet that's happened once in our many visits. Many times we've popped in at opening for them to have one flavor of donuts ready. We were told it was a half an hour wait for apple fritters. They're known for their apple fritters, but I guess I've the luck of the Irish, mine had a long black hair in it. IMBEDDED into it. Though I whole heartedly back supporting local business, there are many things this small donut shop could do that would make it that much better. Such as, but not limited to, updating the interior. It's not only outdated, it's dirty. Have the donuts ready at opening. I did not choose this job for them, they chose "to make the donuts!" (That's in reference to the donut commercials of the 80s). Make sure everyone wears a hair net. I'm sure many will shout THEY DO! I'm here to tell you they may not - long black hairs fried into donuts is not appetizing. They could incorporate a drive thru.
