I run a job readiness program for youth in foster care and Anthony volunteered to give our students headshots to help them along in their employment journey. His communication and response time is fast. He is really professional and kind. Most of our students are shy and did not want to smile in their pictures. I visited Fairway yesterday and had the most amazing experience. This was actually our 3rd or 4th time here. My team and I were having a quick shoot working on basic commerce shots for my site. My photographer had an emergency last minute which meant I was stuck taking pictures. I asked Anthony if he would help me setting up lighting, he was so willing to help. He even went a step further and adjusted my camera's manual setting, took test shots all to ensure everything would be perfect for us. I owe a big part of my career to Fairway. I was broke as fuck and needed a studio during the winter months for small jobs and projects when I was starting out. Most that I found were junky and just terrible to look at so I was not sure if I'd find something that could work. I considered Brooklyn for a short bit but I ended up finding Fairway, spoke to Anthony, and picked up a monthly membership. The place was clean, large enough to shoot what I needed, and in an extremely convenient location. I shoot mostly fashion and portrait and have shot a considerable number of my editorials and small jobs at the studio over the past 1.5 years. I'd say that Anthony has been one of the most easy people to work with since I started shooting in NY. This is NOT the place if you're looking for a giant cyc wall, insanely high ceilings, waiting room for your client, a glamourous eating area, etc... There's a time and place for that but that's not what this space is about. This IS the place where you can get in at pretty much any time of the day or night, shoot small-to-medium-sized jobs, do some personal projects, do a casting, get your shoots done, and maintain a quiet budget. I have used Fairway, for a few thousand hours, since 2005. The largest, best equipped, studio, with the best natural light, is useless, if you get there and the studio has been double booked & someone else is using it. Or if there is no one there to unlock the door. In the seven years that I've been using it that has never happened to me at Fairway. Anthony runs a tight ship & thing are the way they are supposed to be. It's a nice, cozy, windowed, white walls & ceiling, studio with enough Profoto strobe equipment for most jobs. The price includes the strobes and that makes it economical and very convenient for a quick in and out shoot (although I sometimes use it for a full day). It now has some new, basic, daylight, CFL's which make video filming possible, although I haven't filmed any video with them. There is good subway & train transportation near by. Driving & parking are a problem, as is the case in most of Manhattan. Highly recommended, read more

I don't usually write yelp reviews, but I had a great time here, so I want to help out. Used this studio to record interviews. We got upgraded to the big studio for free (yay)! The space was big and exactly what we needed. Anthony was super helpful and very accommodating. He is so nice! The walls are pretty thin here, so you can hear everything that happens outside -- for me, it wasn't great because I needed quiet in the studio. But I imagine for photo shoots, that wouldn't matter. The only slightly odd thing is, we were charged for something, but everything should have been paid for at the beginning. I'm sure this will be resolved quickly though. I started 2 businesses mainly because this studio was the only place in NYC that was affordable, easy to get to and provides everything you need. It's a great feeling to always feel like you got a huge deal! I have been using this studio for over a year and I never have any problems. the space is perfect, everything is convenient, no hassles, no issues, no complications ever! I love these guys! They're always incredibly helpful and extremely accommodating. It's a cozy space that's great for small shoots. I usually have a crew of about five people so it works well for us. I reserved the smaller studio space for a saturday morning - for a photo shoot - excited to be able to find such an amazing price in the city. Speaking with Anthony was quick and easy, he was very friendly and accommodating. I paid the $50 to reserve the space, and received an email confirmation quickly after. All seemed good to go. The shoot day arrived, and as I stood in the hallway of the building where the studios were located, I quickly realized no one was there to let me in. I was quick to forgive - it was snowing, maybe someone overslept? However, after my whole team and the model arrived, and we waited an HOUR AND A HALF, I realized that no one was going to show up. 3 emails, and countless phone calls (to the only phone number provided which was to the office next door that was CLOSED) and not a word back. Never in all my years as a Photographer in the Commercial Industry have I experienced such a lack of professionalism! They not only wasted MY time, but the time of all the people who actually bothered to show up. I let a day pass hoping I would have my emails responded to at least - but nothing. They did however charge me the $200 fee for the studio time. After calling and asking what happened (and demanding my money back), Anthony provided nothing more than a few "i'm sorry's" and "someone forgot to give you the code I guess". WELL THANKS. Luckily he refunded the whole amount - which was just about the only redeeming thing about this whole experience. Flakey, unprofessional, and not in the least bit genuinely remorseful after screwing up in such a huge way. I would NEVER recommend this studio to anyone. Ever. read more

From pre-production to wrap, Anthony and team were readily available and provided prompt answers to my questions as well as suggestions on how to efficiently utilize their space during my portrait session. We did a product photoshoot at Fairway with Anthony and couldnt be happier with the results and the professionalism of Anthony and his team. We found Fairway through a Craigslist post and took a gamble. Anthony was honest about cost, timeline and quality of the images. We had a short window for turnaround and Anthony shot, edited and returned hi-res images in 1 week! There studio studio is clean, with state of the art equipment and Anthony knows what he is doing. We have worked with 3 other photographers in the past and were never happy with the quality of the images and the lack of professionalism. Just got new headshots printed here. They did an amazing job. I emailed them with questions, and they emailed me back immediately. Then I emailed them a file, and they got the proof ready. When I went in, I approved the proof, and they printed 100 headshots essentially while I waited. And the quality of the prints is fantastic. Easiest, smoothest printing company I've ever worked with. And incredibly nice. I really can't recommend them enough. Will definitely be going back for my next round of headshot prints. read more

Fairway Studios is a fantastic space to get the job done. The prize features of this space is the location, price and availability. I shopped around for places in Manhattan for weeks but couldn't find anything I could afford, then I stumbled upon Anthony at Fairway Studios. Immediately I knew my search was over. It met all of my needs for my photography and it even included a lighting kit and various props. I went in and met with Anthony and found him to be flexible and easy going. I've done monthly rentals of his space for years and it's been a good investment. Anthony also has a printing office next door which makes life so much easier for me and my clients.
