Another wonderful experience at your store. Because of the excellent customer care at Neptune over the years, I have ONLY purchased my most expensive equipment from you. In 2014 my wife bought me a $1200 150-600mm lens at your store. Recently it was having some focus issues. I brought it in and in one day it was adjusted and is working again. No charge! I have been dealing with Neptune Photo for years. As an amateur photographer, they are always helpful and honest. Bob, the owner goes out of his way to help you choose the right piece of equipment that would work best for you. I recently bought a new lens for my Cannon camera. I was concerned on having a backup. He suggested a used lens when I'm ready. I will be back for that lens, and grateful for not trying to make me spend more money then I need to. If you need the best processing, that's the place to go. I photograph for a living + they have helped me with everything, from learning the mechanics of a new camera, to developing film, printing large format images for upcoming exhibitions + even giving me personal calls once in a blue moon to update me on new equipment they think might be useful for me. I went in to purchase a 5 pack of Portra 400 film, and I was charged just over $70 for the 5 rolls. Absolutely insane. I should not have paid over $40. A 5 pack of Portra typically costs only $37. They charged me nearly double for a mere 5 pack of film. This was only my second experience with Neptune. My first purchase was 6 rolls of Ilford HP5. No pricing issues, but what I hadn't realized once I had first left the store, is that 3/6 of the rolls given to me were the wrong film. I understand people make mistakes, as they were both Ilford films with very similar looking packaging. Hence, why I decided to keep the film and not return it. But, it was worth noting. However their staff were very kind. But be aware of the pricing. Do your research on the products you think you want if you do decide to shop here. read more

Going back to the 1960s, over four generations, my family has purchased cameras, lenses and photo supplies from Neptune photo. Bob's grandfather sold me my first camera, a Zeiss Ikon. His father, Herb, sold my father all his cameras. He also sold me my Nikkormat FT2 back in the mid 1970s. Bob has sold me and my brother many cameras since the 1980s and is now selling to my adult son. If you're looking for a place to develop your film my advice is to keep looking. I was charged nearly $60 for scans and regular glossy prints for a normal 36 exposure roll. On top of that, it's the only place I've ever been charged for a blank roll that was underexposed. read more

I purchased a canon lens here and dropped it a few years later. I thought that it was broken for sure and i just lost a $900 lens. I went to Neptune expecting to throw it in the garbage and they recommended that we have it looked at. Low and behold my lens was fixed for less than $30. I couldn't be happier with the service that I received here. Will definitely continue using them for my camera needs. I've been a customer of Neptune Photo for nearly 20 years and found the owner and staff accommodating, helpful and knowledgeable. Recently, I wanted to trade in some photo gear I wasn't using toward the purchase of new equipment. The staff was suggesting one highly rated brand; I did my research and found although an excellent choice it didn't fit my specific picture taking needs and bought instead a brand I've owned for about 45 years. Making a final decision on which brand and which camera to buy took multiple visits and many hours with the staff; they were patient with me and guided me. For that alone, I'll remain a Neptune loyalist. The value of my equipment as a trade in was more than I expected. To say the people at Neptune are honest is a huge understatement; that's another reason I've been a customer for so long. read more

I have a Nikon D70 Camera that I purchased two years ago. Last week, I was taking pictures in my backyard when all of a sudden my shutter button locked, the camera wouldn't focus and I was not able to view any pictures. I was so upset about this as the camera is fairly new. I was recommended by a photographer friend to bring the camera to Neptune Photo in Garden City and that is exactly what I did. I'm assuming it was the owner of the store that looked at the camera, saw the problem, took out a small cloth with cleaning solution on it, wiped the shutter button clean and the camera was completely fixed within five minutes. As it turns out, there was a little dirt in that area. He did not take any money!! He could have kept the camera and told me a million things were wrong and charged me a fortune to fix it and I would not have known the difference and I would have paid the money. I applaud their honesty, their expertise and integrity! From now on, I will always shop in Neptune Photo!! There are still honest people in the world!!! read more
