I want to address this publicly so others can clearly understand what is happening. I did not receive any phone calls, messages, or voicemails from UPS. I have reviewed my call logs carefully and can provide proof that no contact attempts were made to me from UPS. The phone numbers you listed are correct, and they have always been active and available. Despite this, Adorama continues to rely on UPS notes stating they "could not reach the customer" while offering no evidence of actual contact. From my perspective as the customer, I paid in full for a product that was never delivered, and I am now being told that no refund can be issued because a carrier claims they were unable to reach me--even though I was never contacted. What is most concerning is that this situation has dragged on through multiple disputes, weeks of waiting, and repeated explanations, yet I am still without the product and without my money. At some point, responsibility has to fall back on the seller. Customers should not be left financially responsible for internal disputes between a retailer and its shipping carrier. I have done everything asked of me. My contact information has always been correct. I have been responsive. I have provided documentation. Yet the outcome remains the same: no product, no refund. I am sharing this publicly so other customers understand what can happen if an order goes wrong. Nancy's latest message simply asks me to wait longer, yet there is still no confirmation of a reshipment and no discussion about issuing my refund. This is the level of service Adorama is providing to customers who have paid in full. To make matters worse, I paid $1,500 for this product, which is being sold elsewhere for just $800. I effectively overpaid by nearly double, and now I am left without the product and without my money. Despite repeated communication, multiple disputes, and providing all requested documentation, I am still left waiting. The delays, lack of resolution, and conflicting information have caused significant mental, emotional, and financial stress. It has been over three months since my purchase, and I have received nothing--not the product, not the money. Yet Adorama is asking me to wait again. This is what happens when a customer relies on Adorama to fulfill their order and take responsibility. This is my second review of Adorama and still just one stare. Stay away from Adorama if you are buying online. I had a horrible experience with this place once so posted a review to which Helen O. responded after several days and was somewhat nice even though she didn't do anything to resolve my problem but at the end, Adorama solved the problem after 2.5 months ha ha ha. I decided to give it another try and I ordered again. First order no problem got it on time with no problems. The second order gets lost by UPS clearly because Adorama doesn't ship or even give you an option to get delivery with signature confirmation anything less than 1K, unless maybe when you call to pay and ask for it but not online. If they had that option the UPS drivers wanted or not had to give a package hand to hand and not just leave it out on the street by the front gate of the units and care less if it's going to get stolen/lost. So I called UPS right away to notify and also Police Department to report package been missing. Then emailed Adorama since they were closed. Next day I get a call from UPS admitting that it's their fault and telling me to call Adorama to get a replacement. Called Adorama on Monday at 9am to reorder again so I can get the job done which this order was for and make my customer happy since this was getting delayed but at least it will be done with lesser pay to me of course. Didn't want to wait for a refund of the loss since last time it took 2.5 months. When placed the order I had to ask for 2-day air instead of them offering it. Also asked if it will be shipped that same day since it was 9am, was told yes no worries it will be shipped for sure and I will get a confirmation email as well. The day goes by no email of shipping so I called again on Tuesday, was told it's shipping now, didn't even want to bother asking why now and not yesterday(Monday). Later that evening I get an email of shipping thinking the mess is finally over. The package should arrive Thursday and I requested to be shipped to UPS facility so I can personly pick it up. Don't want any delivery form UPS(ever again). Wednesday I get an email from Adorama "the wait is over your package is arriving tomorrow March 8 by 9pm bla bla bla. So I checked the tracking and went to UPS office to pick it up and guess what, the package is not there. When asked the service person "where is it" she said "it's still in New Jersy" ha ha ha. So shortly the tracking that you see online is fake(preliminary), it's just showing you the time and the scans that the package should have been delivered but in reality, the physical package gets scanned in real time but costumers can't even see it and it's not showing in tracking, all you see is those fake scans. It's the truth I promise. Because I was so pissed off she showed me all of it on her system so I can see that she is not lying. Also, it was shipped at 11:00 pm by Adorama when the cut-off time is 4:30 or 6:30 not sure because I was so pissed I didn't even clearly hear that. After all that mess, I came back home and 3 hours later I get another email from Adorama "the wait is over your package will be delivered on Friday, March 9 by 9 pm bla bla bla. So now I have to drive 10 miles again to UPS office to get the package ha ha ha. I honestly don't believe it will be there ha ha ha. Bad management = bad service. Now for sure, I will never ever purchase anything from Adorama and will do everything in my power to stop others buying from them too. Adorama Camera...in New York City. BIG, IMPRESSIVE STORE with EVERYTHING any Photographer could need, want, or use! Sure, everybody who is any kind of photographer KNOWS ALL OF THAT. But, there is more to that story. They solve all of the BIG things as expected. As ANY premiere retailer should. They have been my GO TO since 1975. Been with me through my time as a studio photog doing advertising and "cheap" catalog fashion shoots (like 250 tops and bottoms changes in 4 hours...kind of like herding cats as four models, working in pairs, switch out clothes. The pile of changed out clothing was six feet high at the end...). Then Adorama took care of my years as a Uni prof teaching photography to MFA students and freshman undergrads in an Intro to Photography class. I heard "What's ASA again?" a THOUSAND times. HINT: It's what ISO USED TO BE. Venerable Pentax Spotmatic F cameras with SMC Takumar 50mm 1.8 lenses, bulk B&W film from Kodak, Ilford, Agfa, et. al. Photo chemicals, tanks, reels, everything for our eight Beseler darkroom stations. Darkrooms were "open" 24-7 with student monitors covering shifts for LESS than minimum wage so everyone could get enlarger time. Sounds like a recipe for disaster...worked incredibly well. Our university was part of a state system and we got an edict after six or seven years to "BUY LOCAL" and lost our link to Adorama. The locals were terrific PEOPLE, but their buying power was not in the same galaxy as Adorama and we had "shortages" of film, chemicals, and expertise. Time to move on. Started teaching SCUBA and Underwater Photography in Cozumel in the 80's. Great gig. Made better by the fact that Adorama ships GLOBALLY and has all the U/W equipment anyone needs. They OVERNIGHTED a NIKONOS V O-ring set to me after I gave my backup to a tourist on our dive boat. Today, I am old, retired, and doing my scuba diving WITHOUT students and taking photos for the sheer PLEASURE of it. I recently bought a Z9 after thinking that my D850 was the best 35mm camera I had ever used (after the F4, F6, D3S, and D5 and a REMARKABLE D90 that was given to me with the 18-200 DX lens). So, I am writing this ridiculously LONG review because of a SMALL THING that demonstrates just how SPECIAL Adorama is. I bought a couple of Z lenses and bundled some of the new Flashpoint round-head flashes with them. The order came in record time and in perfect condition, but there was no invoice in the box and the online invoice showed the TOTAL for the purchase, but not the cost of the individual items (bundles will do that). The IRS frowns on depreciating items marked as costing $0.00 so I needed an invoice with the items spec'd out individually. Sent an email request to Adorama's Customer Service address and IMMEDIATELY got an APOLOGY for the missing invoice from CALLIE S. at Adorama. The requested invoice was in my inbox the following day with EACH item (there were 14) clearly denoted as to price. The IRS will be pleased! Now, this was CLEARLY NOT URGENT. Taxes are a full year away and I didn't indicate any pressing need for speed, but Adorama did what they do best. Do the work, solve the problem, and keep the customers shooting. Adorama has been my partner in the pursuit of my vocation, avocation, and now, my dotage as I wield my new Z9 capturing the antics of the birds at my backyard feeders (big SHOUT OUT here to VR! Thanks, Nikon) And a special thanks to ADORAMA for a literal lifetime of products, service, support, and the feeling that they were ALWAYS right there and ready to help a photog find his or her way. I've always liked Adorama as they're a good middle ground between not too large and not too small. Whenever I purchase new equipment, it's always invariably through them, as I don't particularly care for the B&H experience as you never really encounter the same person there. I like dealing with familiar people and B&H is, frankly, way too big. On the flip side, too small a store is generally going to be limited in the vendors it carries and not going to be the ablest place in the world to offer you a number of pricing options; despite the people in it being friendly af, remembering your name, and inquiring about your mom. Adorama is, however, large enough to the point where they stock a ton of vendors and don't necessarily restrict you to the industry's lead brands (though they carry them), but small enough to where when you walk in you deal with the same set of people repeatedly through your visits . If you want to drop a five hundred dollars on a medium-sized chimera softbox, feel free. If you want to drop, say, 60 bucks on a medium-sized glow softbox that three years later is still around and kicking, you'll find an option available for that as well (they've all those middle-ground brands in between as well, like phottix, etc). The guy that sells it to you will wish you off and then you'll see him next time and you'll shoot the shit about whatever's going on in the camera world at that present time and you two'll ask each other about your moms. At any rate, going into the new year i was intent on purchasing a new portrait lens. I'd settled on the sigma 85mm 1.4 art lens when, the day before my purchase, I dropped my nikon 24-70 (setting me back 600 bucks on repair). Wary about spending another 1200 a day later, I came across adorama's financing and just decided to purchase the lens on credit, immediately pay the 600, and simply reconcile the remaining 600 over the course of the year (44 or so odd dollars a month). I applied out of curiosity for the financing at about 1am that night, was approved five minutes later, and went in the next day to go purchase it. I arrived about about 1:45pm and had forgotten that they close on fridays at 2. I was explained by a few people that I likely wouldn't be able to pick it up until Sunday because my crediting account was so new but nevertheless hung around as once I get stuck on a subject it's hard to uproot (I was also fairly excited about the lens). Morey, from TV/Home Theater Sales, was super intent on getting me this item and really went above and beyond to see that I received it. A number of other people there told me I should just resign myself to picking it up on Sunday (which is understandable, as I was being kind've a douche and showing up just before close) and that the crediting department likely wouldn't clear it, this close to close. Morey had me login to the site, went back and forth between his system and mine, and eventually got me the item. Now I've got this freaking badass 85mm 1.4 that takes literally the sharpest photos I've ever seen and get to spend the weekend with it (which I was fairly excited to do from the get-go). That being said, Adorama's always been pretty awesome for me. I'm a full-time professional photographer in the city and don't really purchase my equipment elsewhere. I bartended in Manhattan (including Chelsea) and Brooklyn for 15 years, so I know all too well what an absolute waking nightmare dealing with people can be, even in the best of times; factor in an ever-worsening, ridiculously protracted pandemic and it becomes highly probable that most of the people working in customer service at the moment are routinely having the limits of their patience as well as their sanity severely tested. And sure enough, over the past few months I've heard a litany of accounts of people taking their aggressions and frustrations regarding COVID-19 out on this sector of the workforce (which is ironic and rather galling considering that these are the very people putting their health in jeopardy in order to fill positions that each restore at least some semblance of daily life prior to the virus hitting the US). Unfortunately, I would assume that the staff of Adorama have themselves had to deal with a certain amount of this misdirected petulance and hyperbolic martyrdom. That is one of the two reasons I was so impressed with and grateful for the experience I had yesterday morning with the sales associate that assisted me in purchasing the equipment I needed - Drew Anello. Given the current state of this country, I'm certainly not going to enter into any sort of merchant/customer interaction expecting everything to be sunshine and lollypops; that would be absurd, hypocritical and a self-serving double standard. But as it turned out, Drew could not have been more affable, knowledgeable, personable and helpful (often of his own volition). Drew was all of those things not just in spite of the vagaries of 'Rona, but in spite of the fact that I was (unintentionally!) a fairly high-maintenance customer in need of a lot of assistance. I didn't fully know what I needed; I had been approved for financing earlier that morning, but because my phone has been having charging issues and had died, I was unable to access any of that information; I decided to purchase the items that Drew helped me select with my debit card instead; I realized that I didn't have a large enough balance to cover everything, so he pared down my order until it was within the range that I could cover; the financing information then appeared in his system, so he put my initial order back together; the financing bank needed to text me a confirmation code, so he directed me to the laptop displays so I could get the code via e-mail; when that didn't work, he found a charger for my phone so I could try and do it that way; and on and on and on! I was mortified! I definitely would've given the poor man latitude to spare if he had ended up exasperated by me - I probably would've shaded/read the hell out of me - but he wasn't pressed at any point during our interaction. I needed the equipment for a podcast recording session that was scheduled for just over two hours from when I arrived at the store, so Adorama was essentially my last chance to save myself from the consequences of my procrastination, and Drew totally saved my neck. I didn't end up torpedoing the session, and all of the equipment that he recommended works wonderfully. Unfortunately, as a Amazon merchant and loyal customer, I have received a Lenovo laptop from Adorama thru Amazon 3 weeks ago. I have been trying to return it since with no help from either Adorama nor Amazon. The laptop has no ability to encrypt as an Android device, which is contrary to design and confirmed by Lenovo. The best is, Adorama sells these without a warranty! I have stacks of documentation including the discussion with Lenovo tech support and warranty department that confirmed that the machine I received had an expired warranty 5 months before, and nothing could be done except to return it. Adorama service is NO SERVICE as they stand behind the policy of no returns! Amazon supports them leaving me to my resources to publicize as much as I can so others may not face similar delimas with both Adorama and Amazon! As an update, much has progressed since posting this review. I have had over a dozen emails from you accomplishing nothing in the background. I have provided additional details, as you INSISTED, from Lenovo which were duplication provided in every email to your customer service since a month ago. As delicate as this has been, an intelligent reader may say, "Why didn't they pick up the phone and listen to the customer's complaint and attempt to rectify the problem". It's unfortunate that the readers of the review have not seen the play-by-play process that has transpired here, literally hours (days) of my time doing your due diligence. I see you are responsible for replying to negative emails posted. So I expect that this addition will be additionally defended in the ongoing, unethical, unprofessional, and immoral customer service your company has provided me. You have responded all over the web from Facebook to Twitter, and here, but never can resolve the issue. In extremely brief summary: The Lenovo laptop has been shipped today and expect it to arrive no later than Monday, June 2nd at the NY office. It has a label with your name and title on it and shipped in better packaging than what I had received, which was no packaging. I had spoken with Lenovo, who provided the agents name, ID#, time and date and gist of the repeated conversation. In their infinite wisdom created a Android laptop that is substandard to the Android system in that it fails to be encrypted. No returns are possible unless purchased from them directly. No warranty is available at this time as it had expired now almost 6 months ago. No encryption is possible which is the ultimate need of that laptop. The later has no disclaimer on your website, that of Amazon, nor of Lenovo. All in all this is not my problem. Instead of internally fixing it you just make the end user jump thru all these hopes in hope it may someday be settled, or he/she is exhausted. So as a last comment to this chapter of the novel, here is a novel idea from someone who built 2 successful business from scratch and constantly deals with clients for over 40 years: Pick up your phone. Call the New York office to expect a package with your name on it. Tell them to hold it until further instructions from you. Contact Lenovo and resolve this company to company as industry standard. Terrible service. Adorama please don't do your auto reply saying it pains you for the poor service your company gave me. I applied for the Adorama credit card since it's 0% for 12 months. The application was easy to fill out as are all others. I get a message saying I will be mailed a response within 7-10 business days.... According to myFico my fico score is 783. Both Dell and B&H approved me in the past within 60 seconds. I figured, okay maybe with all the cyber attacks lately this is the new norm. I called B&H to see if they had a wait time for credit approval and they said no. 7 business days go by and I decide to call Adorama to check on the status. The woman on the phone had a nasty attitude and told it takes 7-10 business days. I told her i understood that but I'm just checking on the status because I needed the camera a week ago.... Finally about 10 business days later I get a letter in the mail saying they need to confirm my information and I need to call 866-668-5450 so I did. After going through the prompts and being on hold for an hour I hung up figuring maybe I called at the wrong time. I called the following day. Same prompts and this time I stayed on hold for an hour and a half until I hung up. Thinking I had the wrong number I decided to call Adoramas main number. What a mistake.. First person transferred me and I was on hold for about 10 minutes before someone picked up. They transferred me and I was on hold for about 7 minutes. That person transferred me and I was on hold for about 18 minutes only to have this other person want to transfer me and I said I need a phone number to call where someone knows what they're doing so I can confirm what ever information is required. They gave me 855-898-8338 so I call that number and guess what? Yep. On hold for 59 minutes before someone answered. I go through everything for a fourth or fifth time and they need to transfer me. I asked for the phone number they're transferring me to and they gave me 800-888-1726 I let them transfer me and I am on hold for about 45 minutes. When someone answered the phone I told them NOT to transfer me and that they need to tell me either what it is that I need to confirm or approve me. She put me on hold a few times as she looked into the issue. Finally she was able to ask me very basic questions, type my answers into her computer and what do you know, I'm approved and all set. I will NEVER do business with Adorama again. It seems they are only good to place your order and nothing else. Every person that answered the phone was completely clueless as to what they needed to do. All I got was um's and uh's Not happy. Do yourselves a favor and go somewhere else. The prices are probably the exact same but I'm sure the customer service will be 100% better. If Dell had the new Sony camera I wanted this Adorama nightmare would have never happened. Lets see Adorama's response. I bet it's going to be the same as in many of the 1 start reviews I have read which further shows they have no customer service. An auto reply saying "It pains me to see the experience you had with our customer service team" is not customer service! I will post my experience every where I can. I am very new to photography. But things I love, I pick up quickly. I was in the market for two new lenses after I purchased my first camera. I decided to check out the big three photography retailers out there- Amazon, B&H and Adorama. From a product price point, all three retailers were equal. So I looked for other incentives. Both B&H and Adorama offered a tax free purchase if I lived outside of NY or NJ. I qualified, so Amazon was certainly in the dust at this point. Then I compared the offers between B&H and Adorama. Adorama very often included accessories with their products that B&H did not. Granted, a lens cleaning kit and lens cap tethers are not something to be shouting about from a roof top, but they are very useful tools and make your life that much easier when you are out in the field. I was happy enough with just these extras and a few others. Surprisingly however, thrown into the kit was a free USB dock for my lens as well. Now that is something that can certainly be appreciated. Clearly Adorama stood out from the rest. So I pulled the trigger. The shipping was two day and the items CAME in two days. I was very pleased. When I opened and tested my products unfortunately one lens was defective and the other simply not good enough for my requirements. Sometimes all the good reviews on a product don't mean anything. Until you test everything yourself, there is no guarantee it will be a good fit. My pictures had no life or depth to them. I felt I was shooting pictures that looked like they were drawn by crayon. This of course was no fault of Adorama but rather the lens makers. To save time, instead of shipping everything back, I returned both products to the store in Manhattan to upgrade one lens for another and to swap out the defective one. The sales person I was dealing with the whole time was Morris Antebi, a very energetic and capable individual who made sure that I would be a satisfied customer. I know I gave everyone a bit of a headache with all the returns, swaps and upgrades but Morris and his staff were very professional and did everything to take care of me well. Morris was very quick to respond via e-mail and to co-ordinate everything to make sure my lenses arrived as they should. When he told me he would do something, it was taken care of properly and in a short time span. It was a pleasure to work with the man. I am in possession of both new lenses and they function flawlessly. The pictures are stunningly beautiful and I am quite pleased. Extra shout out to Nikon for their wonderful 200-500mms f5.6. My overall experience was positive and I highly recommend Morris as your go to guy to take care of any needs you may have. I certainly had the feeling I was a customer that mattered. I'm not a fan of the way business is conducted in our culture; however for anyone to make a buck, someone must lose a buck. Not always, however this has been my experience most of the time. So my first review of Adorama's used department was filtered for some reason and I wanted to post the results of my consumer experience. Which after posting this come to find out is being filtered from the main Adorama Flateron page as well, so I hope at least a few get to read this. First off I would be lying if I said this whole experience hasn't left a sour taste in my mouth for used equipment but that is the world we live in. I recently traded my EF24mm F1.4 in for a used EF16-35 F/2.8 and received a lens that was in pretty bad shape from pitted glass to moisture spots inside the front element. It had clearly been through some pretty severe weather. It appeared to have been disassembled and maybe a different auto focus chip installed. I posted my first review here on Friday afternoon/evening regarding this same transaction and within 24 hours received correspondence from Helen Oster, Adorama's Customer Service Ambassador showing great concern for the situation and took the reigns in resolving it asap. Helen was in touch with Jack Gold within a day and on Sunday Morning I was communicating directly with the head of Adorama's Used department who had originally taken my used 24 in for trade on the 16-35. I can't say for sure that I completely buy the story, but I can attest that Jack Gold took full responsibility for the mixup and jumped right in to speed up the return process. I was shipped a brand new 16-35 2.8 overnight and as of a few minutes ago have finished the preliminary tests of the lens and it so far it is pretty darn good aside from being a little soft at 35mm wide open at 2.8. (softer at the edges of the focal plane than in the center) I haven't received the credits to my account yet, however I have received confirmation emails indicating the credits are in progress. I did have to pay the full 1499.00 for the new lens, however overnight shipping isn't cheap! I will be testing the lens in the field this weekend and hope to update this post further on the overall quality of the lens in its entirety. I want to thank Helen Oster, Jack Gold, Jared, and all the super friendly customer service representatives (who initiated the overnight shipping on the new lens) Everyone I spoke with at Adorama were kind, respectful, and deserve some reinforcement for the great job they do each and every day. I was on the chat for 3 days before heading to New York, asking for a Sony A7 iii, a camera completely sold out in all manhattan, Brooklyn and New Jersey. They guided me, answered all my questions and been super patience with me since It was a big deal for me going from canon to sony. Unfortunately, as they told me there were big chances that won't be any camera in stock, they expected some to arrived but nothing was for sure. I flew from norway to NY, and went directly sunday to the shop. I did the same process with another known photo store from the city. They weren't half as nice or good as Adorama was. I've been client from Adorama for years, since the days I lives in the city. In the moment I walked in and explain William from sales, my case, he was super nice, really helpful but then again i had the same answer, nothing available, BUT (and it's a huuuge but), he will keep his eyes open in case something came in. I left the store a bit down, and called the other famous store, not even a slight close to the treatment I just had in Adorama. William, kept me update, EVERYDAY, saying that we had no luck. He took time to really look for it and call me or message me, not like the other guys that even seemed pissed when I called them everyday to ask. My last day in NY, I called him asked for a Hail Mary, but it was his day off and wasn't at the store. I was completely beated, I lost my chance., but he texted me back, saying that If i decided to buy the lens and preorder the camera I could drop by and ask for Morey, that he already told him my case. I decide to follow his advice and to that.
