The representative that I communicated with to schedule the appointment was very responsive. The actual exterminator who came out let me know where the insects were coming in and offered suggestions (window seals) to prevent future invasion. They did a good job I suppose for the $500 I paid. It was hard to reach them for explainations following the inspection. My roof wasnt inspected and it ended up causing me problems with my maste bedroom ceiling about 4 months later. The inspection didnt cover electrical which some companies use an infrared detector for. Overall they were okay, just make sure they inspect the roof! read more

I contracted F.A.C.E.S. LLC Home Inspection ( Sheldon and Sheldon Jr.) to inspect my new home on or about August 8th 2017. Sheldon Jr was tasked with the inside of the home while Sheldon was working the outside. I went with Sheldon and he took time to completely explain every question I asked. After we finished on the outside we came on the inside of my home. We went downstairs where he fully explained how the furnace worked as well as the hot water heater. Then we all went to the roof and it was inspected as well. The entire process took a few hours. This was my first time purchasing a home but I though it went relatively smoothly (and my realtor agreed.) I paid a little more than most inspectors but he came highly recommended so I did not mind paying about $150 more for the service I received. I finally closed on the house September 30, 2017 and moved in that day. The very next morning I take a shower and my daughter is SCREAMING frantically. I ran out of the shower, down the stairs to see water pouring from the ceiling! After the initial shock I ran back upstairs to turn off the water. I went back downstairs to use towels and a nearby trash can to catch all the water STILL POURING from the ceiling. I then think to record as well as capture a picture. Later I called my realtor - he advised me to make a claim with the house insurance. Also call Sheldon since he did the house inspection. I contacted Sheldon and sent a video and the picture. He told me that his the work was done and everything was inspected. I was not even in my new home 24 hours and a major leak! (F.A.C.E.S. LLC Home Inspection did not acknowledge their mistake or even offer to pay the $100 deductible from the homeowner insurance!! ) Fast forward to January... by now the heat is on and working perfectly. Until the coldest days of the month the temperature outside ranged from 6 degrees to 20 degrees that week. One night the furnace on the lower level went completely out. I called a HVAC company. He told me immediately the wrong furnace was in my new home and the condensation line was frozen which was OUTSIDE. He told me that the line was supposed to be inside my home. To move the line I received a $1,200 quote! Why didn't the home inspection I paid for explain this to me?? Did he not see the furnace was the wrong type? Did he not notice the condensation line outside and think that that water may freeze in the winter??? Why did I pay $500- PLUS ( $500 and something ) for a home inspection and these TWO HUGE DEFECTS WERE NOT NOTICED?? F.A.C.E.S. LLC Home Inspection came highly recommended. I will not refer F.A.C.E.S. I found out about them through various Homeownership Training presentations that they have done throughout Washington DC---they are legit. Sheldon walked me through every little detail and provided me with technical descriptions of the issues, and then translated them into laypersons' speak (which was necessary for me). They came in with all equipment in hand, a DSLR camera to take photo evidence, and collaborated very well as a father-son duo. They were professional and were very process-oriented in order to be as thorough as possible. The final report was extremely thorough with full descriptions, photos and arrows pointing to the issues. I don't know what happened in our inspection that was so different than everybody's else's but we got screwed by Sheldon and this company. We were first time home buyers and we entrusted our inspection to Sheldon. During the entire inspection he talked on and on about a bunch of things we could fix up in the house aesthetically but the entire time I felt like he wasn't focusing on the technical things that really mattered. When I would bring things up he kept assuring us that everything was fine, and that there weren't any serious issues. We trusted his opinion and bought the house. Then the nightmare began. He either did not fully check or was just wrong about so many things about the house. All the electrical on the main floor had to be changed, he should have caught the problem by checking the outlets, but he missed it. We had a sagging beam that he missed. There were leaks in the systems he should have checked and we had flooding in our laundry room the day after we closed on the house. Every contractor we bought to our house looked at the roof and saw that it needed to be fixed without stepping one foot on it. Sheldon said it had years left on it, nothing to worry about. We called roof specialists out to the house and they confirmed what everyone else saw, we needed a new roof. How could he miss so many things that others saw so easily. His incompetence has cost us thousands of dollars. We have received nothing for the trouble he has caused us. I would never recommend this company to anyone, especially not first time home buyers who are really depending on the expertise of the inspector they hire. We learned the hard way that just because someone can talk a good game, does not make them qualified. Do yourself and your family a favor and find a real inspector. read more
