Since my first review, we have dined several times at Fajita Jack's and always left very satisfied. Yesterday was no different. Promptly greeted and seated, we chose the patio to enjoy the gorgeous day. Jackson was our server and his service was spot on. Friendly, informative and attentive without being intrusive. Started out with a Bloody Mary garnished with Tajin on the rim and an olive. It could have used another olive, a little salt, celery stick and lime - but tasted good and was ample in size. I like that they didn't fill the glass with ice. Hubby enjoyed a soda. Thin, crispy chips and red and green salsa were served immediately and was tasty. We love the green salsa! Our meal came shortly after. We chose from the dinner menu as it was late day. Hubby enjoyed the Beef Fajitas and I had the Fajitas A La Diabla. Everything was cooked to order, plentiful in size and hot. I really love that they serve sour cream and cheese along with lettuce, pico de gallo and guacamole for Fajitas - with NO up-charge like neighboring establishments. The warm tortillas were soft and delicious. The rice and beans ala charra were yummy too. The portions are very good and we both took home half our meal. I think this place has potential. I think some of it stems from it being cool on the water. There's nothing like sipping a cold one outside watching the lake. Food was decent. Located right by the water, I was expecting some mediocre tourist food. Boy was I wrong. The food was pretty darn good. Our waitress was awesome. She managed her tables very well and checked up on us in a timely manner. I tried the ceviche, crab queso and beef enchiladas. I didn't like the large chips that came with the ceviche and queso. The complimentary chips and salsa was good. It's not authentic Mexican food, but the queso was delicious here. They have complimentary soft serve ice cream. Stopped In here for a quick bite to eat after a day spent on the lake. We eat a ton of Mexican food so was excited to try this place. I think if you go here just get what they are known for - fajitas. I got one of the combo plates and while the hard taco was good. The enchiladas was just weirdly thick? Fajita Jack's can best be summed up as a comfy lakeside experience with capable, non-threatening tex-mex offerings. On a handy scorecard for overall experience it would BTFO Chili's, Pappasitos, Chuy's, El Real, La Mexicana, Lupe Tortilla, and the Taco Bell; but in gourmet-speak-only it would offer you something less sophisticated than the Mi Cocina. Consider Fajita Jack's to be very similar to the La Brisa in Bacliff, but in a much more scenic and upscale lakeside surrounding which explains why I give FJ four stars but only awarded La Brisa the three. It is on the lake so the view is one of the main selling points tbqh familia. You can dine outside on the patio or inside with plenty of great views available from inside without being out in the elements. There is an amply sized parking lot servicing this, Sam's Boat & Akashi closer to the main road, as well as the nearby strip mall on the opposite end of the parking lot. The interior is essentially "upscale" roadhouse. It is well cleaned. There are (sadly) plenty of large TVs around tuned to sportsball which ruins the ambiance a fair bit, but reminds you that you are way out in the outer burbs where that kind of thing is commonly accepted - I don't mind what you do behind closed doors in your home but I request you don't flaunt your sportsball in front of my kids out in public. With that many TVs tuned to sportsball you can wear your "going out" sweatpants and still be dressed in vogue, similar to the Bacliff La Brisa. That is to say, you can leave your tuxedo at home because this one does not require you to dress to impress. And that is where much of the "comfy" charm comes in that it's a neighborhood type joint, but it's still an upscale roadhouse type vibe where you are not allowed to throw peanuts and peanut-refuse on the floor. The pricing is reasonable, especially so for the lake view included for free and the worry that this might suffer from "tourist pricing" like the joints down in Kemah since this place can draw them from all the way deep inside the city to see some watersports. The house margarita is reasonably priced at $6 during the happy hour and comes out solidly thick in a pint glass. It's not gourmet and it's not custom-crafted from a "mixologist" who spells his name incorrectly (e.g. Timothei, Keven, Jashua, etc.) and has more piercings than Hellraiser. It is refreshing and has a crisp lime bite which is clear as a bell letting you know that the alcohol situation is pretty low in your cup. You are not going to get hammered on these. It's a pleasant, refreshing drink for what it is and it is not trying to be a top shelf inside the loop splurge drink. The fajitas go for $25 if you are eating for two, or you have an actual dining companion there with you. The portion is not "large" so it would be difficult splitting this three ways, unlike the very generous portions that the El Tiempo (the 1308 one at least) give you where you can stretch a portion for two into three people and some leftovers. My main gripe is how MUCH green pepper is included with the sizzling onions. Green pepper has two legitimate uses: committing war crimes and annoying me. Instead of "splashes of colour" to the fajita skillet thingy this was essentially about half of the old gal. It needed to be dispatched with the quickness. Once gone, the onions retained their oniony goodness and the green pepper had not gotten green pepper juice all over the fajita meat. The day was salvaged. The tortillas are not greasy and lardy, they are rather starchy. They are not a main draw, unlike the original Ninfa's on Navigation, but they are serviceable in a way that many tex-mex places fail to even achieve. The side plate of fixins included a tiny dollop of guac, which was serviceable in the way that Freebird's guac is; but the sour cream dollop was worth writing home about, in the same vein as Chipotle's creamy shot of flavor in your mouth with each bite. The accompanying plate of rice and beans were noteworthy mostly for how the server somehow whipped a whole bunch of rice off of the plate and onto my shirt and into my lap as he was bringing the plate down on the table. It was either intentional because he didn't like me; intentional because he was trying to flirt with me in a bizarre junior high school girl fashion which was not effective since I had rice all over my clothes but I was not going to disrobe there in the Fajita Jack's in front of him because mama taught me better than that; or it was accidental. If accidental, then perhaps some additional server training is in order to teach how to get plates of food onto the table WITHOUT drenching patrons in food from that plate. I can only imagine what the insurance premiums would look like if this restaurant introduced a table-side flambé just for funsies and mayhem. Besides the rice in my pantaloons thanks to the waiter and the heavy hand of green pepper from the kitchen it's all aces at Fajita Jack's on Lake Conroe. read more

This was recommended by a friend. We were in the area so we decided to give it a try. The mango Margarita was very good, I had two! The fajitas were cooked nicely and the sides and fixings were flavorful. I didn't care for the beans as the both had bacon (charro & Redford) but the rice was fluffy and seasoned well. I order a side of grilled veggies and they were cooked perfectly. We saved room for dessert and got sopapillas with honey. They were very good even though they arrived cold. The service is all over the place. The establishment suffers from good management to keep everyone on track. We were quoted 15minutes. We went to the bar and were ignored by the three female bartenders. We were seated well before the 15minute mark. However, the table had a take out box on it and you could see it had not been wiped clean. We sat anyway and our server wiped the table. Service was prompt until the end. We order dessert and then our server got lost. Out dessert took over 20 minutes to arrive. It took so long we were just going to cancel the order. Then our server finally came around and asked if we wanted the check. We said yes and then my guy and I laughed stating "I guess she forgot". Low and behold she came around the corner with the dessert and the the check. We said...OH! We thought we had forgot? Then she threw the kitchen under the bus. I'm bot saying it was or it wasn't the kitchens fault. I'm saying you can clearly see there is NO teamwork at this establishment and every server has to fend for themselves. This is where service falls if the server is double, triple sat and overwhelmed or distracted. One manager was visible during our dining experience but then we never saw him again once our lunch arrived. Bathrooms were disgustingly dirty! This place is fine if you've spent the day at the lake and you are in no hurry to get home and don't require over the top sanitation. Will we be back? Probably not. read more

Tried this place in the past and it was yuck! Tried again this past weekend and yuck! The server was nice, but VERY SLOW SERVICE! Took about 20 min before we got our drinks. Food also took forever and when it finally came, the order was wrong. Couldn't find anyone to flag down to get it right! Just ate the crap. Was starving Bc had to wait 45 to even get seated. We stopped in after boating in nearby Lake Conroe. There was a long wait and it was crowded and noisy. But when we got in the dining room there were lots of empty tables? Meh, ok at best. I have passed this restaurant chain a thousand times driving back and forth to College Station. Never stopped in because as we all know, there are like 100 different Mexican restaurants to choose from. The only reason today became the day to finally try it was 1) my friends wanted a lake front patio to eat on so we could watch the storm roll in and 2) it was close and 3) we wanted to try something new. I'll be honest, I wasn't very excited to try it out, only because a lot of the reviews on here weren't very positive......and no one likes to have a bad experience but I sucked it up and put my game face on. This location has nice decor and a nice sized patio....which we were looking for. The receptionist kinda gave me an odd look when we asked to sit out on the patio knowing good and well a Turbo Storm was a brewing but yah, thats how me and my crazy friends roll. We came here around 4/4:30p so the place was maybe 20% full so not busy at all. Our server was pleasantly friendly and attentive (opposite to what many other Yelpers had experienced.) Very intense menu, took me awhile to let it all soak in and choose a worthy dish; Lots and Lots to choose from. I ordered a beer since it was HH but my friend who ordered the house margarita said "it was very sweet and tart," so I'm glad I didn't go that route. Chips and salsa were good. I ordered the Pepe Lopez which was a Chicken Fajita Al Cabon (YUMMY, chk was marinated nicely) a cheese enchilada (I upgraded to top it with CCQ but it was still meh) 2 taquitos (which ended up being made with beef instead of chicken so I gave them away to my hungry friend) rice and beans. I don't know if we were just hungry or what, but the food here was off the charts. Literally just moved to the area from Philadelphia yesterday where we were used to a pretty outstanding food scene. We had a late night dinner before close, I got the Ultimate Fajita Platter and she got the Rejellno (sp?) Especial. This used to be the go to spot for fajitas for dinner after spending the day on the lake. Stopped by after a day on the lake last Thursday and was excited for a good meal with a margarita. We'll apparently they have new management and new cooks. I got the most expensive fajita combo on the menu since my go to order is no longer available since menus have changed. The portions were supper small, chicken, fajitas and shrimp were all over cooked which was very said. Beef fajitas were known for the big thick cuts of meat cooked medium rare. Food was surprisingly good. The Fiesta Fajita is a combination of grilled chicken breast, beef fajitas and grilled shrimp in Tequila butter sauce....all with amazing flavor. The tortillas are made in house, the corn tortillas is probably one of the best I've had. The Saturday special cocktail is the Marnier Rita for $8....I can definitely feel the alcohol in it!
