So Fajita Jacks is the very epitome of what is wrong with Conroe restaurants and the restaurants on the lake in general. Is this the best restaurant on the lake . . .come on, is that saying that much? There is truly nothing redeeming about this restaurant, except for the view, and they are just lucky the water level is back to normal. If you want sound advice, grab take out from some other restaurant and go sit on the peer and then you get good food and a great view. I must admit, I am absolutely stunned at the reviews in the positive for this place, but I guess to each his own. No doubt it helps to have a few drinks in you to make something taste better, but the margaritas are definitely not good or high quality, and they claim "famous fajitas" which I thought was a joke, but apparently they are serious. Their fajitas taste like nothing but pure black pepper, which to me, is scary . . . I mean, what are they hiding? So, I've eaten at the old location 3 times and the new 3 times, always thinking, surely I must be wrong, but no, I still can't find anything that would make me come back. Absolutely everything that has "fajita beef" tastes the same, like black pepper. I've tried the ground beef items, and while better than the fajita meat, is nothing special and nothing I wouldn't expect from Los Cucos. Sure, you must be thinking I'm just a negative naysayer, but that is only because so many times I really wanted this place to "be the one." When they moved onto the lake, it seemed like the perfect marriage. Well, the honeymoon quickly ended . . . The lake has sooo much potential, but as long as "this" is what constitutes good, we are in trouble . . .There are too many "tex-mex" places to rely on this one. If you really want the lake atmosphere, do Taco Bell across the street and then come over to look at the lake. read more

GREAT SERVICE: They must have asked at least half-a-dozen times if everything was OK with our order (began to make me a little nervous): But everything was delish. Terrific Hostess, Bartenders everyone was amazingly prompt ant attentive. Food was also much better than expected: So many lakeside restaurants offer crappy food at high prices believing they can slide it by with a terrific venue. NOT JACK'S!!! Stopped in last night for dinner. All the staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was great as always. Tried the mushroom jack quesadilla with steak instead of chicken. Highly recommend it. I am solely writing this review based on the experience we had the moment we walked through the door with the hostess on Tuesday evening 3/16/21 at 9pm. It was three of us including my young niece. We opened the door to see the hostess sweeping the carpet as if she's getting ready to close up or end her shift. She looks at us angrily and shoves the broom against the wall as it then slides onto the floor and she saunters over to the hostess station. She says "3 of y'all" in an extremely rude tone, then rolls her eyes. I said yes we would like to have a drink and sit outside if that's possible. She proceeds to huff and puff and grab some menus and look back at me and says "well we close in an hour so you need to make it fast". My friend looked at me and said "Did that just happen" when she is still within earshot, and I said "yeah that totally just happened", he then replied with "she sounds like she wants to kill you". We sit down, our waiter was Lorenzo, he was amazing I give him five stars. We were there for about 20 minutes max and also two tables were sat after us with six people each, I wonder if she told them they're gonna be closing in 30 minutes so they need to make it fast. Anyhow we had our one drink and we were headed out the door and she comes scampering out the door in an over exaggerated rush and stands on her tiptoes and waves and says "Bye thank you come again" again in a very rude mocking manner. She was short and a petite brunette, couldnt be more than 16 years old. She did not have a name tag on and I asked the waiter as well what her name was and he seemed to act like he doesn't even know they had a hostess. I understand maybe she was ready to go home but there's no need to be rude to customers coming in that are paying for a service. I would not want this person representing my establishment. read more

I can top these other reviews with a few words: Large group (31), teenagers, and class sponsor adults wanting the kids to be happy! I called a couple days earlier to make a reservation. When we got there, they were ready for us. We were seated in a side room which was perfect for us. The manager was very friendly and we had a nice chat while his to top (and might I say, excellent servers - 2 main and one support asst manager) took drink orders. I loved that they took care of the adults first, but really the whole party was served pretty much equally in time. Now, these are 18 year old North Dallas kids. They are well behaved and . . . Shall we say, picky eaters. They loved it. I personally had the combo fajitas with the shrimp too. AWESOME!! I look forward to coming back. Been eating here for several years since new ownership. Moved to new location and the ambience is better, and in the summer sitting by the lake is a great experience. The food gets better all the time. I judge a Mexican food restaurant by its queso and their's is in the top 5 on my list. You won't go wrong with anything on the menu or the drink list. read more

This place is pretty great. On occasion the food can come out slow but other than that i have no complaints. Its on the lake, well priced, and i never have to wait to be seated. And they have margaritas that are strong! We go here a couple times a month instead of going into the woodlands and waiting an hour to be seated anywhere (on a weekend). Also they have a guy that comes around and makes balloons for kids. My son loves this. The porch on the lake is a great setting. read more

I have been coming here for years with my family and friends and have never had a bad experience, except two TERRIBLE experiences last weekend. 1. My friends and I came on Friday night and had a wait, so we decided to get drinks at the bar. Katelyn M was the one who served us and dang was she RUDE! Look, I've been in this industry for YEARS, I get bad days and it an exhausting job, especially behind a bar. But, there was no excuse for her to be as rude to my friends and I as she was, and she half assed my friend and I's minchiladas, making them 90% beer so it wasn't even a minchilada. She was so rude my coins in change were her tip, and like I said I worked this industry for years and think that is terrible, but that's how rude she was to us. Even the lady next to us apologized for her and offered us her chips because even she was appalled. But, then we got our table, had Quincy (I think I spelled that right) served us and man, was she the BOMB. People like her is why I try to overlook people like Katelyn. My friend and I asked for a manager to come to the table and told them about our bartender Katelyn because we could not get over how mean she was, but said how amazing our server was. 2. I came back for dinner that Sunday. I have an Emotional Support Animal. For those who do not know they are a service dog for people with emotional issues like PTSD or whatever the case may be. She is registered with the State, Country, and through my psychiatrist, so the real deal. I do not always bring her with me because I don't always need to. Sunday I brought her with some friends for our last meal in town that weekend and a friend immediately asked for a table for 3 outside, so my dog wouldn't bother those inside the restaurant. The service asked my friend if she was a service animal and she said no, because she didn't know and technically she is an ESA. We got lead to our table outside and a manager came up and asked if my dog was a service dog with the hostess that sat us down, which I get because it can be abused and confusing since my friend said no before I explained how she was an ESA. I said how she was an ESA and he said they aren't the same thing. Which no they aren't, but they are. I offered to show her identification that she needs, since she had a regular harness on her that is also a seatbelt for the car. The manager then proceeded to try and have me explain to him why I had an Emotional Support Animal anyways!! Which is EXTREMELY rude and personal! And I'm pretty sure people can not just ask that and expect an answer by law. When I said "Um sir that is personal information I do not have to share with you, but I'd love to show you her i.d." he got all rude and walked off after saying "forget about it". I get being questioned and am used to it since I see people abuse the system often, which is why she is trained, calm, and why I carry her identification with me everywhere. But that manager being rude about it and asking rudely about my personal life was not okay because I had an ESA. I usually love this place and when my family want to go to 7 luegas in Conroe, I beg them to go to fajita jacks instead, but after two terrible experiences in one weekend I think I'll just stick to anywhere else in Conroe for a while unless it's to see Quincy (the amazing server I had my 1st bad experience). Service was good. Our hostess and wait staff were adequate. The waitress was pleasant and made eye contact, smiled. The location is really nice. Prime spot in lake Conroe and visible from the major though faire, hwy 105. Restaurant atmosphere is adequate: mellow adult soft alternative playing (a rather welcome change from blaring tejano music) but contributes to the overall blandness of the place. This is what I refer to as "people of another culture dictating how a native culture should prepare food." The take away from this place: the fajitas are awful. This place is named "fajita jack's" and the meat tastes like it's half dried jerky, minus the spices. It is abysmal. They obviously do not marinate their meat before cooking and add spices probably as a last measure while the meat is cooking. The meat didn't come out "smelling and sizzling" like you'd expect it would. The tortillas were pre made garbage. Tasted like rubber right out of the warmer. We asked for limes to add some flavor and used the salsas provided to add some flavor to the dry tortilla and meat. The beans. What happened to them? They tasted like they took one bean and cloned it a 100 times. No flavor. (Come on!) The rice was right behind it in flavor. They need to add the veggies to it like every other Tex Mex place does for flavor and moisture. On a happy note they gave enough cheese, sour cream, guacamole and pico (but this did not have any real flavor here either. You guys need to learn what lemons, limes, jalapeños are... You don't just cut them up and throw them on the top of things for looks.) The red salsa was warm and tasty, I was really surprised they went the distance on the salsas! The green salsa had a ranch flavor to it as well. While not authentic, it covered the "beef jerky" fajita meat really well and made it palatable. Edit: it's 2 hrs later. My boyfriend and I are stuck on opposite toilets. Disgusted thoroughly. I hardly ever use Yelp, but I am glad when I need to I can blast the pants off a place that needs it. Thanks, Yelp! read more

I looked around the main dinning area and saw several open tables. But hostess took us to a separate room off of the entrance, and said that there was no seating available in the main dinning area. I was thinking, I just saw a few that would fit my party of 4, but whatever, maybe they are unstaffed. Then I noticed another party come in right behind us without kids-" can we get a table with a water view?" "Sure thing" says a different hostess. "Right this way." Then another family comes in, and guess where they got seated?!? In the segregated room of course. Surely we are not being discriminated against because we have children with us!?? Then another party comes in, no kids; guess where they got seated- no wait, and in the main room with a view. So I looked around, and confirmed; the room that we are in, no view, is full of families with kids. And no families are seated in the main dinning area with the view. We left, we can get Tex-mex anywhere, and deserve to be treated better. We are not second class because we have kids in our party! read more

The main draw for this place is the view. Nice view of the dock, pier and lake itself. The hostess seated us right away upon arrival. Our waitress took our order pretty quick. Their chips and salsas are good. It took a while for our food to arrive. I had the American enchiladas with beef and they were tasty. My wife had the ceviche and it was not good. Stay away from that one. Prices are higher than they should be, but you are mainly paying for the view. With limited restaurants right on the water, this one is not a bad choice. I have never seen a worse restaurant management. A female manager by the name of Bree was so horrible towards employees and rude to customers. I was absolutely shocked by the behavior I witnessed. She was cursing and belittling another female employee about her work performance and physical appearance, which the manager had no room to be talking. The 5 times I have been I have always experienced exceptional service and fresh food . There chips and salsa are fantastic and I always enjoy the free ice cream . The only reason I am giving them 4 stars is because they are not dog friendly and every time I go out on the lake my dog comes with me . However we enjoyed eating there and looked past the service until this past Mother's Day. We expected a wait and were ok with it until we noticed empty, dirty tables all over the dining room. After 45 minutes we asked the young girl at the front if we could sit at one of the tables. She said, "you can sit there but no ones going to serve you!" That was the last time we've been there. I was not impressed at all with this place. I came late on a Friday night and I don't know if it was cause it was 9 o'clock or what but everything just turned to bad. I got the carnitas tacos, the corn tortillas were a joke, the mean was dry and they put way too many Jalapeños that I could barely eat the taco. And I can handle spicy. The chips weren't really warm, our waiter seemed to be screwing around. The rest of the wait staff was definitely screwing around. And for 9 on a Friday, that seems a little strange considering it's still a Friday night. Maybe it'd be different if I was sitting on the patio outback, but the music was so loud I couldn't hear the person I was with. They were playing early 2000s love songs like Collide by Howie Day. Ate her yesterday with a friend and it was fantastic. Clean on the inside nicely decorated and the staff was very nice. We went for lunch and I ordered the carne guisada the need was seasoned nicely and had plenty of onions and other topping to go with it. Although it came out with this little cup that to me looked like it was pure grease but I don't know maybe someone can comment and tell Me what it was. The rice was lacking some flavor I thought but it was decent I ate it. The prices for lunch and even taking a lance at the dinner menu seemed very reasonable even especially for being on the lake I was expecting way more expensive. My daughters high school graduation was last weekend and I got to say the general manager Aaron came through!! We looked at Lupe tortilla but they wanted 850.00 for fajitas for 40 people wow. I love Lupe but fajita jacks did them for half I don't want to say exactly but I will say service was amazing and the next day I came back to get more tortillas and chips and he gave them to us for free yes free!!! Placed order on the phone. It was handled quickly and professionally. Picked it up at the bar. Bartender not very friendly or she seemed put out to get my go order. Hubby ordered the Tacos de Ora, he found it to be exceptionally good. Preferred my refried beans to the charro beans. I had Steakhouse Enchiladas. Yummy and yummy. Loved the presentation and great taste of my meal. Only complaint I had we needed one more of each sauce. Two little cups for two meals was not enough. Very nice location right against the lake. Servers are polite, inside is very clean. Food is bland. Beef fajitas had no seasoning and were very dry. Refried beans had no seasoning, tasted similar to old el paso canned refried beans. Salsa was weak, green sauce tasted cheap like they use a bargain priced mayo. For a place that advertises very heavily on their building how "world famous" their fajitas are, I was extremely disapointed. With all the amazing tex-mex in the houston area there really is no real reason to go here.
