I dropped off two bags of heels and two pairs of boots. I have vintage Sbicca leather and wood high heels, handmade cowgirl boots and some fancy boots from Nashville. My puppy chewed the heels off several of them and the vintage heels sole had gotten gooey with age. Over $1500 worth of shoes that would have been tossed if it wasn't for this place! The family is the sweetest and this is a dying art. My shoes are broken in so perfectly I didn't want to buy new and not only that mine are vintage they don't make them anymore! After having hip pain for over a year it was suggested to me to visit Falkis Orthopedic store. I went had had my evaluation done by Vasile who recorded my walking and took measurements. It appears that both my legs are the same height so I don't need lifts which is good to know. I bought new sneakers, flip flops, socks that have a right and left foot, and had an order submitted to have insoles made for my left foot. When you walk up to this store, it doesn't look like much. But inside are the nicest people with a great selection of comfortable shoes. In the back is the shoe repair area with men who can restore shoes as if they are shoe magicians. I came here many times in my 35 years of teaching to have my dress shoes resoled. They were all done well, and I got many years use out of each repaired pair. It was only when they were scuffed or marked so badly that I had to get rid of them. The soles were the last to go. I was back Thursday (9/28/23) to inquire about the cost of new soles for Husband's dress shoes. The soles broke away from the shoes due to rot. It would be a $100 for new soles or $25 to glue them back together with no guarantee that the soles would stick for a long time. Husband hates dressing up and these shoes are over 30 years old. After our next dress up event, we'll go shopping for new dress shoes. We might find them here! I did see a great pair of Florsheim for him for $80! For now, they are getting soles glued on. read more

Ok. I realize I messed up my heel by buying what I thought was a great deal in shoes. Well sometimes I'm just too poor to be cheap and these last sneakers purchased proved that point to a tee! So knowing I want good walking shoes that won't aggravate my heels, I figure Clark wallabies, which I hated when I was a kid, but remember they were comfortable walking shoes as a student in Germany. However, the reviews I read on Wallabies stated they were no longer like the old ones made 20 years ago. Well my feet remember them from 53 years ago. I guess I can cross them off my list. Maybe better to get fitted for a proper walking shoe. Where better to get fitted for a shoe than Faklis? Happened to be in the area and decided to check out Faklis for a walking shoe or sneaker. Vasily was so ever helpful. He had me walk so he could check my gait and guided me into a wonderful pair of Brooks that also happened to be on sale. The heel giving me trouble felt nirvana immediately from the support the shoe offered. Also I found out I was purchasing the wrong size shoe. Haven't had a proper shoe fitting in ages. Not only were the shoes a good deal but I also got an education on how my feet needed certain support in specific areas. I hope I get back to the area & when I do I want to get a full orthopedic evaluation. Cheap is not the way to go when you want your feet to last another 53 years. Faklis is definitely worth a visit for comfortable socks and proper fitting shoes. I highly recommend Faklis. Great work! I have a leg that's shorter than the other and they were able to use their cobbling skills, going back generations, to make a lift for my shoe, so I could walk straight. They took precise measurements themselves and the owner did it himself too. Great work guys! read more

This review is of the shoe repair services offered. Stay away. If you value your shoes, or time, stay away from this repair place. I dropped my boots and strap work sandals off on October 30 for heal repair. The gentleman checked them in, gave me a ticket and said that the latest they will be done was on November 4, and they would call me. November 4 comes and go, no phone call. I'm local, so I stop in on Friday November, 8 to check. The guy couldn't find them. After 30 min of him searching, and me about to blow up, I show him a picture of them (thank god I took a before picture) and 5 minutes later he finds them. THEY HADN'T EVEN BEEN TOUCHED. Gentleman now assures me they will be done that day and I can pick them up on Saturday the 5th...don't worry he says... we will call you. Guess what? No phone call. I go in today during my lunch break, it's now November 13 to get my shoes back, whether they were fixed or not. The front desk person couldn't help me, the other gentleman who works behind the scenes couldn't help me, and they both insisted I wait on the one person who could. He was helping another lady at the moment fit shoes, which is fine, but with 3 people in the shop, SOMEONE GIVE ME MY SHOES! I didn't have time to wait, (this guy moves very slow... not to knock him, because I'm sure at his age I'll be slow too, but be prepared) so I left my number and said I wanted my shoes today, fixed or not fixed. They FINALLY called me about 30 minutes after I left saying they were done. I go to get my shoes, they are at the counter ... they charge me $28.00, I look at my shoes... disaster. I told them that specifically on my boots I wanted to heal to be replaced, the whole thing. We had a conversation about it. The bottom rubber part was replaced, and the heal was PAINTED. THE PAINT WAS STILL WET and got all over my hands. As I told the person who checked me out, she said if you aren't happy let go get "him" to talk to you about it. If you want your shoes spray painted, and terribly done then come here! I could had done a better job myself, cheaper, with shoe repair stuff I found on Amazon' SincI didn't have another 30 minutes to talk to the guy (who I don't know his name since no one told me) told her to simply pass the message and this isn't the way to do business. I just wanted my darn shoes back so I could take them to a place that had better service, better organization and valued your time. I will NEVER be back, and anyone I talk to I will be sure to NEVER recommend this place. *Update* The man in charge (owner) personally called me to make things right. He took his time to explain things, and gave me a refund. He listened to my concerns and addressed them. So thank you for making it right! That speaks a lot about a business. read more

I took in a pair of wedges with visible need of the soles needing to be replaced. I also opted for the additional fee to have the shoes cleaned. 2 week later I returned to pick up the shoes and noticed they were not cleaned. I asked if they considered that clean? The young man advised they did not notice I paid for the cleaning and to return the next day and they would have them ready and cleaned for me. I return the next day, the wedges are ok but not to my satisfaction, at this point I can do a better job. I get home to notice the new sole which is coming off of the old sole was not properly glued. I called and asked for a refund, of course the cobbler asked me to come back in for him to redo the job. My time is very valuable and I can not continue to go back to a place to walk them through every step of their job. Lesson learned... I will not be returning but if you do I suggest you check the work prior to leaving the shop. read more

i am a strong believer in supporting small businesses at all costs, but this shoe repair is awful. I needed a heel tip replaced on a pair of pumps and they kept the shoes 2 months. I had to go in and call repeatedly for updates to be told they 'couldn't get it fixed'. I finally gave up and told them to keep the shoes (after paying for the repair). Even if it was a 'difficult' fix, call the customer, don't disappear for 2 months. Terrible. never again.... read more

I had a piece of leather from a purse strap, to put a snap on to make a bracelet. No one in the store was competent. There was no one there who could even find 2 pieces of the snap to match each other. They looked forever in little boxes to find a match. That took about half an hour. Then they took another long time to put the snap on. But it was backwards and it was not fixable, so totally ruined the bracelet and it was a gift. I have put snaps on... its a simple process! I will never go back there and do not recommend anyone taking anything there. read more

Although I was told it would take 2 or 3 days to fix the strap on my shoe, after 3 full weeks I called and was told they had not even started. He explained that they had trouble finding a color match, but called 3 days later to say it was done. Not only did the color not match, they patched my matte leather strap with a shiny piece and uneven sewing. The word "Terrible" slipped out of my mouth and the man took my shoe to the back shouting to the other man, "This is terrible!" His solution was to "scuff it up" on a grinder, which further damaged the bit of original strap instead of taking the shine off his botched piece. I was told, "I'm sorry we're not better". But if you can't fix my shoe, call me and tell me! I would rather the honesty so I can take it to someone else. The only bright side is they didn't charge me for this terrible botched job. Yes, it's true (as I was told), "Well, you couldn't wear them when you brought them in"...but I can't wear them now, either. read more

Took a leather vest in to have patches sewn on an event on Saturday. Dropped it off on a Tuesday and was told I could pick it up on Thursday, however, when I called Saturday morning it was still not completed. They said they would have it done in 2 hours, which they did BUT it was an awful job! When they sewed them on, they didn't flatten the leather, which caused buckling between the patches. I had to take it elsewhere to have the patches removed and sewn on correctly by someone else!!! I did take it back to have it fixed but they said they "were too busy and it would take 2 weeks." They offered me nothing for my trouble, dissatisfaction and waste of time and money. My advise--stick to shoe repair. read more
